My other thread went poof I think (don't ask)

So I got weighed today as today is the day I face up to what I've done to myself.
My joints ache, I'm short of breath and sweaty and I have 2 outfits that fit.
Things have got to change.
Anyone up for a diet buddy/ hand holding?

Have moments of pure panic, I can't do this, I'm starving, one won't hurt, blah blah blah.....
And then it passes.
Saturday night is a killer!
Hope your all ok.

goingbacktowork I've been doing it now for 5 weeks. I am technically ss but this plan has more cals than you mention- Slim and Save is either 3 packs plus 100g chicken or fish, or 4 packs a day. Both plans add up to around 650 cals. Plus you can have 200g veg. (men have either 4 or 5 a day).

Yes it is very possible to gain it back after I finish- but it is on any plan, I mean I did Rosemary Conley for a year and lost 4st and put most if not all back on. I have plans in place, I plan to use the Paul McKenna book and keep low-carb as I feel really good on it. Less bloaty!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/02/2012 19:48

After you finish the LL or Cambridge diet (or any other VLCD) you have to eat low carb to manage your weight otherwise it does pile back on.

I find low carb easy to do, I feel better, less tired, bloated and much more energy than before.

peanut in the end I did chew gum, I couldnt stand the thought of breath. I did have the spray but prefer gum.

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 20:47

i'm going to go and do my measurements! Wish me luck guys! :)

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 20:48

Scarf that one sounds interesting - it is similar to the red 1 on CD I am on. How much have you lost in 5 weeks then?

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 21:04

Right Before - Measured around 29 November

Bust - 106 Now 104 cm
Hips: 114 Now 110
Waist - Before 99 - i think i have measured it wrong, so i don't know...
Arm - 34 Now 33
Thigh - 66 Now - 64

Not exactly what i expected for 12 weeks, but its something i guess...

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 21:07

sounds good Kate. Keep at it. Thought my counsellor was making it up when she gave took my starting measurements this week - I thought I was (am wearing) a 20 not 30! Grin

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 21:11

I know, its horrific isn't it, when you first take them and look at the tape measure and realise the size, makes me sick in my mouth a little bit.

I need to quit this internship and get down the gym!

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 18/02/2012 22:14

goingbacktowork I've lost 1st 9lb in 5 weeks! Today was weigh day. I've lost 2 inches from my waist, haven't done any of the other measurements. Down from 18 jeans to 16!

goingbacktowork · 19/02/2012 09:19

That is really good - you must be so pleased. If only I can keep going for that length of time. Maybe it gets easier as you start seeing results.

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 19/02/2012 11:07

It does, I look in the mirror and think 'is it worth undoing all this work for... (insert name of fatty food here!)' I'm hoping the loss will slow, which sounds crackers but I want this to be sustainable. The TFR is more to educate myself than a burning need to drop weight for a certain date. Plenty of people doing it for their wedding etc but I just want to lose for health and looks! I'd be more than happy with 2-3lb a week.

I never, ever thought I'd say I'm currently starting week 6 on a diet consisting of 'food' from packets and a little chicken and veg, totalling around 650 cals a day! Sounds insane but it's working for me thus far!

goingbacktowork · 19/02/2012 13:52

What is TFR? Also my packets come to 600 just for 4 of them so it must be kind of similar.

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 19/02/2012 15:39

Total Food Replacement- so LL, CD, Exante, S&S etc rather than something like celeb slim or slim fast with two shakes then a regular meal. I think on that I would cheat, just do bigger portions for evening meal! On this anything not from a packet is weighed.

goingbacktowork · 19/02/2012 22:40

TFR - some lingo I did not know. Ok nearly back to the week (which I am hoping is easier to keep to than the weekend is).

PeanutButterCupCake · 20/02/2012 08:43

Morning all.

It's weigh day here

15lb off this week Shock

OP posts:
Punchthosecalories · 20/02/2012 10:15

Shock Peanut that's a huge amount! Wow!

Well I thought I was doing really well but nevermind...I'll report my weigh in anyway:

I've lost 5.6lb of fat!

I do feel better for it. I'm able to zip up my pre-pregnancy skirt and get into my pre-pregnancy tights however the skirt is still mega tight and the tights roll down off my still far too big tummy :(

I checked water and I've increased my water proportion, a good thing.

I checked my muscle mass and over the entire week I've increased muscle mass by 2lb. If I can increase muscle mass another 4lb then I'll have a good ratio for the weight I'm aiming for.

PeanutButterCupCake · 20/02/2012 11:11

That's great punch And thanks Smile

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 20/02/2012 13:30

Oh wow peanut and punch you are doing amazingly well! Very jealous!

Just reading this, got the link from minimins- Pauline Quirke's story very interesting read and resonates with me! I started a stone above her highest weight, I kind of wish I'd taken pics so I could look at them now but no way on earth I would have let a camera near me!

goingbacktowork · 20/02/2012 13:43

Peanut how the hell have you managed that - that is superbe!!!!!!!!! I am sitting here starving!

PeanutButterCupCake · 20/02/2012 17:46

Just sticking to my packs and running around at work Smile
Usually have a largish loss first week...not that large tho Hmm

OP posts:
JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 20/02/2012 18:20

well done all of you. That is amazing, keep going, its worth it when you find clothes that you can get back into. Smile

And even better when clothes that did fit start falling off! Grin

I have lost 1lb this week but have lost inches all over, especially my back - and boobs.

Punchthosecalories · 21/02/2012 07:19

Jax Well done...I think when you feel your body has lost inches and is toning up that can be better for your confidence and health. Good work :D

Ladies I keep thinking about expectations and how a person ok I can get disappointed if metabolism slows down in response to dieting resulting in lower loses each week. I found an online body weight simulator software which allows for this and tells you what to expect the scales to say if you're doing a long term approach as we are. I think it's useful as once we get into this after a couple of weeks it's going to be difficult for our bodies to keep up the level and so it'll be good to use the tool to see what might be possible over a long time rather the one size fits all approach of "aim for 2lb per week" mantra because that isn't how our bodies work at height, exercise and starting weight differences. Not sure if that makes sense. It's from the National Institute for Diabetes & Kidney. Anyway I wanted to share it with you:

bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/

Have fun! Oh and once you've got your information, it's anonymous don't worry, have a play with the exercise levels to see how that influences metabolism.
I got quite excited finding it and you are the only folk that I think I'd be able to share that with!

goingbacktowork · 21/02/2012 09:25

thanks for this. will do.

those on TFR I am on day 6 and feel yuk - is this right? (I have done VLCD but years ago). Am I not supposed to be feeling brilliant by now and I am on 4 packs so that is about 600 cals so more than those of you just on sole source.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 22/02/2012 19:13

havent had a very good day today. TMI alert!

I had been bleeding for nearly 3 weeks, had assumed it was my body getting used to low carbing again and had some break through bleeding as on mini pill... anyway last week it stopped and today it started again.

So, I had a pancake (gluten free) and a spoonful of basmati rice with curry tonight. I have 'stuck' to my low carb apart from that and I know tomorrow is a new day.

harrumph.

Punchthosecalories · 22/02/2012 19:22

Jax I've never been on the pill or anything but that sounds like it's worrying you. Could you get a GP appointment?
