My other thread went poof I think (don't ask)

So I got weighed today as today is the day I face up to what I've done to myself.
My joints ache, I'm short of breath and sweaty and I have 2 outfits that fit.
Things have got to change.
Anyone up for a diet buddy/ hand holding?

Sorry about spelling there. I'm BF my baby and they sort of get in the way and want to join in!

BornToShopForcedToWork · 17/02/2012 13:11

Hi,

I started a Low carb diet on Tuesday and so far it's going well. According to my Ketostix I am in Ketosis since yesterday evening hurra. Let's see how it goes... I am 13st 8lbs at the moment and want to lose at least three stone until July.

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 17/02/2012 14:20

hi bornto we can be diet buddies - also low carbing.

I made soup yesterday so had that for lunch today. Was very tasty. Took my mum and DD to Costa, I had black coffee while they had paninis and cake. But it sort of made me feel good by abstaining... in a sick macabre way.

PeanutButterCupCake · 17/02/2012 16:50

Hi all.
Have been to cinema today and drank black coffee while my friend munched her way through a mountain of nachos Sad
Aaaargh my head is trying to talk me into falling off the wagon today Angry really hungry!

OP posts:
Punchthosecalories · 17/02/2012 17:37

Big glass of water might help?

PeanutButterCupCake · 17/02/2012 17:50

Think some of it is have missed a pack few days when working. They don't taste that nice so have to force self to get them in. Be easier to fit In next week when I have bars. Only up to pack two of the day Shock best get a move on.

Hi ladies, please can I join you?!
I've been pretty depressed past couple years and the weight has piled on. In January I decided to stop smoking, stop drinking full fat coke, eat healthily and exercise more. I quit smoking and cola first and towards the end of January started the others. I have started walking to and from work 4 days a week which is 2 miles a day and I have bought a WII fit as being a single mum I get no chance to go to the gym.
Here are a few stats.
Height: 5ft 10.5''
Start weight: 16 stone 4lb
Current weight: 15 stone 8lb
Target weight 11 stone 12lb or less!

Have been very good all week but went to the Harvester today for a half term treat. Had chicken instead of steak, jacket potato instead of chips, pepsi Max instead of regular Pepsi, had a salad but did have honey and mustard dressing. Finished with a Knickerbocker Glory but asked for a child's one to cut calories!

I have been weighing myself every morning on the WII fit as it plois a graph but count my official weight as the one the Boots scales give me every Friday a.m!
Good luck to everyone. Looking forward to hearing your updates.

p.s I had 3lb weightloss this week too. Have been so good all week eating mainly soup, scrambled egg no bread etc.. plus LOTS of WII fit time as week off work. I was hoping for more too but at least its a loss I guess. I want to go on holiday in August and not be covered up in the heat as I hate my body like I did last year.

goingbacktowork · 17/02/2012 21:02

welcome tired mummy good to have you on board.

Peanut yes you must not miss packs. I know I cnanot be bothered at work too so I bought the tetra packs - already mixed up with straw and I honestly have to say they are delicious!

PeanutButterCupCake · 17/02/2012 21:31

Hi tired Smile

LL should do them too, much easier going how's day 3 been?

OP posts:
ScarfOfSexualPreference · 17/02/2012 23:39

I wish other VLCDs did tetras, would make my life much easier! My shakes have to be consumed within 10 mins so I can't even make and freeze them

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 08:18

You know people sell stuff on ebay don't you? I know your counselleor would frown on it (maybe not tell them) you could always get some to use when out of the house. Basically it is all the same stuff so I doubt it would throw anything out. I wonder why they do not do it on ll.

Day 3 done - still had a lot of diet coke but now got coke zero. Morning of day 4 now and my scales (counsellors were higher - that is a surprise Grin) showing 7 lb down. I know much is water but just gone down under x stone to the stone below if that makes sense which I am really happy about. Just realised though thinking I have been the same size for about 4 years that I think I went just under the stone below this one last year - to summarise that means I have put on a stone and a half without noticing during the last year!

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 08:20

scarf you said "on any VLCD citric acid is your enemy- so diet coke is out." Do you know why that is - what does the citric acid do?

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 08:27

I need serious hand holding!
I've just had a baby 4mo and I've only lost just over a stone.
Sometimes I feel so determined but other times I just eat shit! Argh!
I'm 5ft1 - nearly! Lol! And weigh 12stone 7 I think? So you can see im hugely overweight. I've been doing weight watchers, and that's helped. But my day is so busy with work I literally have time to eat tea, bath dd, shower and it's ten o'clock and bedtime! When I finish my placement hours I am going to go to the gym everyday!
I would like to loose 4stone by September but clearly that's not going to happen!
It's so frustrating!
I've been thinking about doing the weetabix diet, something I invented myself Grin because I love weetabix, but I don't even know if that will work?

I feel a bit Angry at the min!

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 08:30

Also, I am addicted to Pepsi max and smoke around 10 fags a day, I would love to give up smoking, but I have zero will power!
Envy of those who manage it!

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 08:37

First your statistics are not that bad. You have had a baby and they say as long to get down as to go up. Do not be so hard on yourself. I think it might be easier if you followish some kind of programme and do not personally suggest the VLCD some of us are on (I am MUCH heavier than you and just a bit taller and if you do not need to do one I would n't). There are so many different programmes, ww. sw, low carb etc. There are a few people doing a low carb diet in here that are doing well. But if you can find something that TELLS you what you can and can't eat than personally I find that easier. You might even try something like the CD with food (they have programmes like this which give a slower weight loss then the sole source but are less extreme) - something like 2 drinks and a meal etc.

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 08:38

Also you have lost a stone since baby arrived - I never lost any. So give yourself some credit you can do this!

PeanutButterCupCake · 18/02/2012 10:02

Welcome kate

So you have a 4mo and have already lost a stone and are working too? Wow Smile
What work placement are you doing?
I think you need to be gentle with yourself, as you've done so well already.
Do you want to continue with ww or try something else?

going good morning.
Citric acid takes you out of ketosis, I can't remember why though.
Two days to weigh day here Smile

OP posts:
goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 10:16

Thanks Peanut. But if you go out of ketosis you still lose weight right? Gonna check what they say in LL about it - can you have any diet coke on that diet?

ScarfOfSexualPreference · 18/02/2012 10:18

I can't remember the science of citric acid- basically it doesnt affect all people and drop them out of ketosis, just some. But how to find out?!?!?! Only way is to have some.... and risk getting out of ketosis! No thanks.

Today is WI for me, officially done 5 weeks on S&S and this week lost 7lb! Very unexpected as last week was 2lb. But very good! Just over a stone to get to 'overweight', considering I was classed type 3 morbidly obese or something 10 years ago I'm happy!

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 10:44

Well done Scarf. How long you been doing this for then? You have obviously lost a huge amount - well done! I am not ss but something called red 1 as my BMI over 40 (and it means you can have skimmed milk which also means you can have tea and coffee which I would really miss). I am not sure how I would cope on just the 3 packs but there again 4 packs is only another 140 cals and in the big scheme I do not think that is going to affect much.

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 12:25

Hey, guys! Thanks for the lovely replies.

I'm a Fashion Intern, I went back to work 3months after, as I've got to do so many hours for uni. I leave the house at 7.20 in the morning at get back around 7ish at night. Its a nightmare, but as today is saturday, i am going to do the first day of the 30day shred!

I weighed 13st7 a few days after birth, so i know some of that will be water, act but am going to do measurements, and i'll let you know how they go!

Does anyone have any tips for getting my stomach back flat? I used to do 100 sit-ups a day before DD, which I'm going to try.

Also does anyone do spinning? I love it for Getting fit, its such a good work out, a bit boring. I've also done pole dancing, which is really fun!

Goingbacktowork What is VLCD?

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 18/02/2012 14:58

Its Very Low Calorie Diet - approx 500 per day, basically you are starving yourself legally but your body gets all the vitamins/minerals it needs to keep you alive. It is not the healthiest way to lose weight, but it does work.

A better alternative (although not as fast) is low carbing.

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 15:57

Yeah, i try to low carb as much as i can, it does seem to work.

I don't think id manage on 500 kcal a day, but when you started to eat normally again, wouldn't you put the weight back on?

goingbacktowork · 18/02/2012 16:18

yes that is the problem with it - you have to CHANGE your habits or it will all go back on but that is the same as any diet, I like the sounds of the low carb diet - once I get rid of a few stone on this I am gonna swap to that as I am sure that must be better for you in terms of educating a body about a long term plan for eating.

KateSpade · 18/02/2012 17:13

Yeah, it is exactly that, I've already fallen out of my bad eating habits that i used to partake in when i was pregnant, quite easily.
I think i need to sit down, write down all my habits with exercise and eating and tackle them one by one!
