January couch to 5k - who's with me?

Santageekmum · 26/12/2011 11:59

I am massively overweight and have never run before but am planning on starting the nhs couch to 5k plan in January (first Thursday in fact).

Who would like to don their trainers and join me?

Also if anyone has a good sports bra to recommend, I'm bf and a 40dd at the moment and need a new one for running.

I have a pair of running shoes in my basket at sports direct. Been thinking of doing this for a while. 5 stone overwieght though - will I manage it?

will have a shower and then buy them! LOL - got an arm wallet thing in the basket too. I think we have an mp3 player somewhere in the house, so will see if I can work out how to download it. Does it tell you when to walk and when to run? That is my main worry how do you know when your 60/90 seconds are up?

I'm thinking about it - hello everyone!

Cece, it tells you exactly what to do, when. Also, if I can do it as a nearly 14 stone 5'3" blob, you can too :)

Ok I did it!!! Been thinking about it for a while but after I downloaded the track, found my most supportive bra with a supportive vest on top, two old t shirts and a cotton hoody and cotton tracky bottoms - had some good trainers which have only really been used in the gym so why not? I survived although ran very slowly and struggled on the uphills! By the way, I've only just got below 20 stone although I have been losing weight for a while and swimming a lot, running is not something I've done for years and then only for buses... Xmas Grin

Well done Delilah! Great to know we can survive the first run! When are you going to go again?

Welcome Emmac

Ohbugrit I have great visions of you now! Well done to you for getting out there as well!

I'm still keeping to my original start date so have a week to source new trainers, might try to see if we have any outlets near us as well. And yes I am counting the junk food as fuel!

Nospring I downloaded the podcasts direct from iTunes onto my iPhone. They don't need flash, but maybe try again later as I had a few tries before it worked on the iPad.

Certainly going to give a try on jan 2 when kids are back at school. Need to lose at least 2.7 stones so will combine with zumba 3 times a week, swimming and shredding.

2 more tips

1). Wear a beanie type hat, keeps hair still and keeps earpods/phones in place

2). 2 paracetam

Hi all, I'd like to join in with you if I may, I tried last year but never got past week three, am a lone parent and self employed so found myself without time to go running but have a dog now and he needs to be walked twice a day so I'm sure he can have a run with me at the same time.

I need to lose about 2 stone and am going on holiday this summer so want to look good in a bikini again.
