Hello fellow Dukanians!

I'm on my 6th and final day of the attack phase. I've found it fairly easy so far but am getting bored. Haven't tried any recipies yet, just eating basic foods, oatbran porridge is as adventurous as I've got but I'm happy with my weight loss. I've lost about 10 lbs this week! and if I add in the 5 lb loss two days before I started I've lost over a stone since 12th December! :)

I'm not sure what to start eating tomorrow, I guess I should read further into the book.

I am finding myself eating until after midnight though, normally sugar free jelly and diet coke. And now my tummy is rumbling as I don't start breakfast very early. Remembering to exercise is going to be a stumbling block for me as I rarely leave the house - I work from home!

Excited to hear about all your weight losses :) x

A real lifesaver for me is oat bran gallettes (1.5tblsp oat bran, 1.5tblspn of fat free yogurt and an egg mixed well & fried in a non stick pan. I have it with scarmbled egg & wafer thin ham/chicken for breakfast, with smoked salmon & cream cheese or sweet with a little lemon & splenda for a pancake type pud. Another favourite is cottage pie (usual meat base then cauliflower puree for topping), steak fried with onion & fried egg, tofu/chicken/beef stir fry and I like veg soups for a change in texture.

Hope that helps and good luck.

Hi there,

I am a bit stuck and wondered if anyone can help.

I did two weeks of protein only and lost 13lbs. Then about a week ago I started to have a small amount of carbs with my evening meal. I have also been out for two xmas dos and in the past week I have gained 1lb.

Feeling a bit fed up. Is it the two xmas meals out or the added carbs that has gained me one pound? So fed up that today I ate 2 mince pies this eveing.

Any tips?

wherearemysocks · 20/12/2011 21:23

Hi cece, actually putting on just 1lb isnt too bad at all.

I don't know how much you know about the science of it so sorry if telling you what you already know. When you do any carb free diet you go into what is called Ketosis, which basically means your body has used up all its glycogen stores which is kind of like the body's reserve tank of fuel if you like. Glycogen also holds a lot of water, and I think on average we have about 7-10lbs of glycogen when we are eating a normal carb diet. So when we start carb free what we lose first is glycogen and water which is why there is always such a big loss to start with.

Anyway so when you then reintroduce carbs your body holds onto glycogen and water again so that is what you are gaining, it is not fat.

I'm not doing strictly Dukan, but I am mainily carb free through out the week, and then some carbs and alcohol at the weekend so I'll always show on the scales to have put on a few pounds over the weekend but then that just comes straight off again after a few pp days so I always try to weigh myself midweek so I've got rid of the glycogen again.

By the way, some cardio will burn the glycogen pretty quickly.

hope that helps

cece · 20/12/2011 21:57

I know nothing of the science. That is very interesting thank you. That explains why not one person has noticed that I have lost nearly a stone!

So would you advise keeping carb free during the week and having a small amount of carbs and booze at weekend?

Sorry I don't have the book or anything just trying to work it out as I go along!

Spoontastic · 20/12/2011 22:41

Today should have been my first PV day, but I ended up doing another PP day. My weightloss has slowed to 1 lb per day, but I reslised I've been seriously overdosing on the Oatbran. I was following the recipe on the packet - 3 tbsp with 280 ml skimmed milk, and now i realise that's DOUBLE what I'm supposed to limit myself to. To make up for over fibre / carb-ing my body I've done a 7th strict PP day (still not eating enough food though, despite the work xmas party being today), and am leaving out the Oatbran. I hope this will stand me in good stead for the morning, no idea what to eat then though. I have a fear that i'll put all the weight back on as my body will feel starved.

Did anyone else feel like this? What did you start by eating?

Thanks x

WentworthMillerMad · 02/01/2012 00:14

I've managed to stick to Dukan throughout the festive period! I do feel I've missed out a bit, but as I only started on 12/12/11 it would have been so easy to put all 20 lbs I've lost back on! How are you doing now WentworthMillerMad?

Alouisee · 03/01/2012 17:01

I started today, I read the book towards the end of last year and I'm hoping to lose 20lbs.

WentworthMillerMad · 04/01/2012 16:06

Hi - it's good to be back! Have gained 6lb over Christmas. Managed a PV day yesterday and am doing 2 attack days today and tomorrow. 1lb off already and think the 5lb will be gone in 2 weeks of strick Dukan.
Am peeing lots drinking so much water !
Big walk tomorrow

Hi everyone! Starting Dukan fresh today. Working night shifts at the moment which makes it a little easier.

I did Dukan originally in August, went from 64kg to 57.5kg. Weighed myself this morning and weigh 62.2kg, so its crept back on between then.

Dinner will be some sort of chicken (Grin get sick of the sight of it!) and a sugar free jelly after - poss not allowed but only 3 calories and I need a sweet fix.

I'll be taking to work eggs to scramble, some lean ham, fat free soft cheese and fat free yogurt. It's hard at work to avoid the chocolates, sweets, biscuits etc Sad

WentworthMillerMad · 04/01/2012 18:28

Am drinking diet orangina To curb sugar cravings. Know the next 3 days will be tough. All my family flew back to Ireland today but am going to NOT drown my sorrows in sugar!

Day two done and I'm reassuringly in ketosis. Waitrose had sold out of fat free fromage frais so I'm making do with ff yogurt and v. Low fat cottage cheese for breakfast with the oatbran. I might attempt a Galette tomorrow.

Had smoked haddock with a poached egg for dinner but I would really have loved piles of buttery spinach and some Hollandaise sauce with it.

I'm drinking gallons of red bush tea which seems to hit the spot nicely. No sugar cravings really but cooking for the children was hard, not as hard as making them toast and jam in the morning though!

WentworthMillerMad · 04/01/2012 22:04

Ooh toast n jam!
Day 1 done - found is V hard getting back on wagon. Got a headache now but know it will pass.
Skimmed latte and yog with oat bran for brekkie.
Like sound of smoked haddock and egg.
Back to work Monday - that's where I find it easiest!

Alouisee · 05/01/2012 15:09

Right - I'm going to have to post my meals here to keep me on the straight and narrow.

No fat yogurt with at bran

Two slices roast beef with a scraping of horseradish

A tub of crab meat.

Dinner is yet to be decided. Inspiration welcome.

WentworthMillerMad · 06/01/2012 19:11

Had chicken and my coleslaw tonight. Eggs and mushrooms for breki.
Next protein day is Monday!

Had my first Pv today, never have vegetables tasted so good. Back to pp tomorrow.

WentworthMillerMad · 06/01/2012 22:10

I know! Who would think broccoli with a dash of ginger and soy sauce could be so exciting!
Think I will have fish tomorrow with a chilli salsa on top with asparagus.
I think asparagus is a natural dietetic and so good for water loss!

Alouisee · 09/01/2012 13:45

Pp day today, a two egg galette with cottage cheese for a late breakfast, I've snacked on 2 crabsticks but they're not the same without mayo. Lunch and dinner might get rolled into one at this rate.

Alouisee · 09/01/2012 13:47

Oooh by the way Wentworth, I pinched your ginger and soy idea for the broccoli, it was delicious. I also made a cauliflower "uncheese" which was surprisingly nice. I mushed up a chicken stock cube and poured on some no fat fromage frais which made a lovely sauce.

Snapespeare · 09/01/2012 15:17

place marking here from the other thread - 'true' weight should be 11st 7lbs, although I have no idea what I currently weigh as am too scared to findout. suspect hovering around 15st mark.

5 day attack followed by alternating P &PV days.

I have bought scales from amazon and when they arrive will be able to update progress more fully. :)

drywhiteplease · 09/01/2012 15:59

Hi can I join?on day 2 of attack phase. alouisee you have given me some great advice on another dukan(not Duran) thread.

I seem to be eating a lot and have not felt hungry yet.if this diet works I will be amazed.

So far today I have had a galette with c cheese on it, a vanilla activia, a chicken breast and some smoked salmon pâté with prawns. Tonight sirloin steak with a yog.

Am I doing it right?cant quite believe it will work!

Dibbs27 · 09/01/2012 18:44

Hi all I am now on my second week of Dukan. I had wine at the weekend and had lost 2.4kg until then and today (official WI) showed 1.4kg. So mad with myself. Anyway - plodding on. Alcohol is definitely off the menu now.

Alouisee · 09/01/2012 19:49

I've got a stinking headache :( and I bought the wrong fat free vanilla yogurt :( :( I bought Yeo Valley vanilla and I should have got Onken or Activia - and I have no will power so I ate it.

The scales will be interesting tomorrow.
