Wow well done!

bishboschone · 12/08/2012 19:18

Anyone still out there?? I'm still dukan ing and although it's the hardest diet I have tried , it's working . I'm hoping to go under the 10 stone mark in the morning but I can already get in some of my old tops despite being half a stone away from my pre baby weight and a stone from my true weight ..!! Keep at it ladies Smile

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 14/08/2012 12:07

Ok, I was very impressed when I saw a friend who has been dukaning for 2 months and looks amazing, she has lost about a stone and also looks very bright eyed and energetic. So I am thinking of doing this.

I have just read thru all 39 pages!! Very interesting. When I get paid at the end of this week I am going to buy some proper scales to weigh myself (eek). I would also like to buy "the book" but there seem to be a few, which is the best that will tell me what I can and can't have?

I am thinking of starting next week when DS (aged 6) goes back to school (Scotland), we walk to and from school anyway so I can just extend the walk for exercise.

My main worries are (a) being constipated and (b) the expense - we are on a tight budget so lots of nice steaks and packs of ready chicken etc seem out of my league. I do like fish, prawns, yogurts etc.

Oh, and does anyone find it difficult to make carby meals for family while not having yourself? DH and DS love their rice, potatoes etc (and are built like whippets Envy ) a lot of our meals revolve around this. Any tips very much appreciated!!

This is the book .. Can't do links very well on phone . Will be back later .

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 14/08/2012 23:14

Ack link didn't work, sorry! What is the name of the book?

bishboschone · 15/08/2012 07:16

Sorry , it's just called the dukan diet by Pierre dukan . I got it for £3.99 in the works . I have tried lots of diets and this one works the best BUT it's hard !! You need masses of willpower . I have lost 1 stone 5 pounds since July 16 th and I was only 11 stone so not massive ... Good luck

bishboschone · 15/08/2012 07:18

Have just realised that is a month tomorrow . I would say if you are new to dieting I would try a easier diet but I had baby weight to lose and have a rubbish thyroid . In
The last year I have tried weight watchers and skimming world and it wouldn't budge. I have a bad back and needed to get back to my pre baby weight as the symptoms are much releived by carrying less weight.

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 15/08/2012 10:51

Thank you bish I also have a poor back and find that my PMS/mood/energy is worse when I've been eating lots of carbs and am heavier. I have about 20 pounds to lose so hope it will give me a good boost.

bishboschone · 15/08/2012 11:13

Good luck ... My back is so much better after losing those nearly 20 pounds . It really makes a difference .. Smile

WentworthMillerMad · 16/08/2012 08:58

Well done bish!
Welcome toomuch. Am in Scotland as well.
Am still on Dukan. Had a few days off last weeekend as we had friends visiting but I am hoping for a few quiet weeks now and I hope to drop a stone.
I also have tried every diet and Dukan is brutal but it really works, even on my rubbish thyroid!
Latte and 2 boiled eggs now.
Tuna salad with small spoon WW salad cream
Salmon for tea!

Ps - eat tinned fish, eggs, frozen fish is cheaper.
Dukan says no pork but I always have butchers lean pork chops as much cheaper. Minced beef to make burgers / meatballs.
Buy prawns on offer. Own brand yoghurts.

Water from the tap and skimmed milk.
Buy plenty own brand fizzy drinks.
Plus you not buying fruit, sweets, crap in general!

toomuchmonthatendofthemoney · 17/08/2012 19:55

I don't do fizzy drinks at all, but I can sure do coffee!! Hope to pick up the book over the weekend and have a good read then shop on Mon ready to start!

Wizziee · 19/08/2012 19:55

Hi Everyone. Down to 10.7 stone this morning, 27 lbs off only 15 lbs to go. Cheated tonight as my DH is away and my girls wanted to go to Pizza Hut. I had the "skinny" LOL pizza at 440 calories but OMG the carbs. Only one meal though, back on it strictly tomorrow. Need to exercise now, get rid of my much smaller but still flabby tummy ! xx

Wizziee · 19/08/2012 20:04

Forgot to say, on doing Dukan on a budget I look out for the BOGOF on tinned red salmon and fresh mackerel is quite reasonable - £3 for enough for 2 meals. Also, if you get the supermarket butcher to cut you a thin steak it can be as cheap as £3-4. Tesco do 4 thin sirloins for £5 quite often as well. For me, the fact that I'm not getting through 3 chocolate bars per day and God knows what else saves at least £15 per week - scary. The 3 things for £10 on meat/fish at Tesco can usually do more than 3 meals. M&S do ready cooked chilli or mexican chicken which is lovely for lunch and you can get 3 packs for £5.

Re cooking carbs for the family, I honestly never thought I would say this but it doesn't bother me. I've heard a lot of people say the same after a few weeks on Dukan. Even cooking fresh bread today (bake in the oven stuff, I'm not a domestic Godess !!) was fine and I used to be able to eat through enough bread and pasta to feed a small class.

bishboschone · 19/08/2012 20:04

Well done :-)

Wizziee · 20/08/2012 12:57

Thanks :-)

bishboschone · 20/08/2012 14:00

Do you all eat the oat bran religiously ? I haven't eaten it for weeks but I had some today as I have plateaued .. It's so disgusting! Do you think it makes a difference to the weight loss ?

WentworthMillerMad · 20/08/2012 15:54

No I don't have it every day and I don't think it effects my weight loss at all.

Is anyone on cruise and do you drink alcohol ever?

JudieJudes · 23/08/2012 08:19

Hello Fella :)

I just wanted to say 'Hi' . I am new to MN as well as the Dukan Diet. In fact I joined MN after googling DD and came across this forum - which by the way I have found to be inspiring as well as humorous.

I am on day 4 of a 6 day Attack phase. I started at 154lbs, have 35 to lose to get to my TW. I popped on scales this morning and I have lost 7lbs so far - woo hoo :)

I realise this will be mainly water but it's still very motivating to carry on.

You ladies seem a great bunch and I hope I am able to contribute and inspire some if you like you have me.

OMG - just seen 'hi fella' posted when I KNOW I typed Hi Fello Dukanettes' - predictor text is having a laugh ;)

JudieJudes · 23/08/2012 16:05
