GI/GL Diet Support Thread - It's 2006!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The shiny new thread folks !

I'm planning to carry on posting my progress on a Monday, but anyone else who want to should choose a day they feel most comfy with.

I'm going to have a look at the GL diet properly in the next couple of weeks and see where it is similar/different and whether I should change anything now that I am closer to target.

I am aiming to lose another stone (that would be 8 stone in total), but I'd love to get another 2 off where I'd be fitting in a size 10 (I think). I need to see how I look and feel after a stone though as 2 may be going too far.

Good Luck everyone, I personally really appreciate the support of this thread - it has got me where I am now .

hi all sound like you're all doing well and motivated.

Had fab hol and stayed the same. Combo of eating too much but more walking than usual seems to have paid off. Have finished steroids hurrah and am motivated again. Want to lose a stone by easter.

puff · 06/03/2006 20:17

butty, piffle, puff and melbob - well done

I lost half a pound this week - which is half a pound more than the last 2 weeks, so could be worse. Still struggling really, especially after a depressing shopping trip on Sat where I couldn't buy any of the things I liked because of this damn stomach.

I've now lost 13lb total, 4lb to go although am still breastfeeding and suspect my boobs account for a pound or two! So need to focus, like you piffle, on toning up now, although I do really doubt that any number of situps will get rid of this horrible bulge. The extra inch I mysteriously gained last week seems to have gone however, so that's something.

puff · 07/03/2006 21:01

franch - you are doing brilliantly SmileSmile

Wow - you are all doing so well. I have still been faffing about trying to decide what to do, whether just to be happy where I am with my weight, whether to stick with GL diet or go back to GI....

Did you see that AWT has brought out a GL diet book? Has anyone had a look at it yet?

Saker · 14/03/2006 23:26

Well done Puff and Melbob and Grumpy. I have lost a pound or so since putting 3lbs back on the other week but I haven't been trying very hard in terms of eating. I am just sort of ticking along at the moment trying to stay the same until I feel a bit more motivated. I have increased my exercise by a couple of sessions a week though. So I'll keep an eye on how you are all doing and then maybe rejoin again in a bit. I would still like to lose a bit more but it seems a real struggle and I'm not really progressing so I maybe should just accept where I am which is middle of normal BMI.

georginarf · 16/03/2006 13:12

Hello - please may I join? I would like to lose (gulp) between 5.5 and 6 stone. I am very impressed by the weight losses of people on this thread....

I am ordering Rick a Gallop from Amazon at the moment. I HAVE to lose this weight, I am in a very determined state of mind about it.

georginarf · 16/03/2006 13:15

Rick A Gallop??

I mean a Rick Gallop book.

puff · 16/03/2006 13:23

Fantastic grumpy Smile!

I'm having a good week - hoping for a good result on the scales tomorrow.

Am in the process of booking a holiday in June which will require swimsuit wear, so this is the incentive I need to lose these last 20lbs.

OP posts:
melbob · 19/03/2006 19:48

Hi all and welcome Georginarf. Goodluck for tomnorrow

Gearginarf I need to lose about 4.5 stone and have already lost 1-2 stone depending on which scales I stand on! So you're not alone

georginarf · 19/03/2006 19:54

hello and thanks for the welcome
I have my Rick Gallop book and I have been to the supermarket & bought suitable food. unfortunately I had the famous vomiting bug on Thursday/Friday and had a big concert to get through yesterday and the only thing I could face eating was Pizza Express - ah.

So I will probably be actually starting the GI thing tomorrow. Also I need to get a new battery for the scales (or maybe new scales, mine gave me 3 readings differing overall by 2 stone - can't be right!)

But I will be joining in the weighing in next Monday. Can't believe I'm at the start of losing loads of weight again - depressing (I lost over 3 stone through WW a few years ago, but put lots more than that on when pregnant, dammit). It is v. nice to know I'm not alone Smile

puff · 19/03/2006 22:57

Georgina, try not to look back at what you've lost and put back on. Focus on going forward take it in "bite size" 7lb chunks Grin! This really worked for me as I had sooooooo much weight to lose, it was the only way I could get my head round the task.
