Starting a low carb diet - anyone interested in going for it with me?!

I did this very successfully indeed for about 6 weeks in the run up to the summer break. I have been trying to lose weight for a while and was doing OK but then reached a plateau which was when I decided to try something new. And I easily lost a stone doing this.

It was hard in the beginning, for about the first week, then I sort of settled in to it and it just became how it was. And I like the rules of it, because you just can't cheat on it. But it was sometimes hard juggling what the family were going to eat.

I have been cutting down since Tuesday, but will be going for it completely on Monday 5th. I want to lose a stone. Is anyone interested??!!!

cardoon · 26/09/2011 15:55

They look great - I wonder how carby real tortillas are

First day on P/V today and it feels so......WRONG

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/09/2011 16:25

those Mama Lupes Tortilla Wraps look really like they might hit the spot!

Not sure what to have later, kids are having toad in the hole and veggies, so I may just have toad with no hole although that sounds a bit erm rude

Tis looking good for me to the Christmas meet so I shall have added incentive if it comes together!

omigod celeriac chips are DIVINE!!!!!!

And they are getting a massive thumbs up from DD aged 14 and DS aged 12. When I gave them to them I just called them curried chips because they are always Hmm about stuff they've never heard of. I've used lots of madras curry powder and some salt. I cannot believe they are low carb. Madness!

But from the Pistey household 10/10
Grin
I got four
Sad
but I bought two celeriacs! So next time I'll be quicker.....

I love celeriac chips!!

We had mashed sweded last night and it was fantastic, such a nice change from mashed celeriac or mashed cauliflower - it will definately feature very highly on our menu from now on.

Tortington · 26/09/2011 18:18

carbfree.wordpress.com/2011/09/26/swede-mash-is-awesome blog post with pictures

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/09/2011 18:43

Custardo - try here

Is it just boiled swede?

OP posts:
BecauseImWorthIt · 26/09/2011 18:46

swede - 2.3g carbs per 100g, boiled.

RnB · 26/09/2011 18:46

Had mashed celeriac last night with creamy mustard chicken - really nice.

Will have to try these celeriac chips...

Just had cauliflower rice for the first time - really nice

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/09/2011 18:46

well this one says 100g of swede is 4.4g.

I have no idea what 110g of swede looks like though. Love the pics, now I need to buy swede.

What I love about the celeriac chips was that they were filling and so tasty and not meat, chicken etc!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/09/2011 18:49

Bollocks - now I've found one that says there are zero carbs

wish they'd make their minds up

How did you make the celeriac chips, Rather?

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/09/2011 19:10

they were straight from Custardo's blog http://carbfree.wordpress.com/2011/02/14/celeriac-chips-that-taste-like-chips/ here

So easy and proper yum. Grin Except I only got 4. I will not be caught out again!

six sodding pounds! three weeks, not good enough! (but still good!) i am clinging on to the hope of being on the rag,so another couple of lbs are stuffed full of water retention. ;)

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/09/2011 21:24

It's still 6 pounds though! That's 12 packs of butter, which is a lot of fat Grin

thanks for the link, Rather. I will try them soon. I actually had something very similar tonight, using swede and chilli flakes. They were lovely.

Tortington · 26/09/2011 21:38

that link piste has lots of differnt suggestions of swede - and one says zero carbs whhich is jut a LIE!

i can't find a carb count for swede anywhere wtf is wrong with google - it worked yesterday

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/09/2011 21:52

BIWI - chilli flakes would be vair nice on the celeriac chips, the madras spicy was good but could have been even more spicy!

Am still in ketosis, and getting cramp in my calf muscles at night, that is supposed to be salt I think? Dunno really!

I am intrigued to see what weight loss I will get after one full ketosis week.
I want to try the swede mash, but I want to know how many carbs I'm letting myself in for. There are all sorts of figures going round.
