Starting a low carb diet - anyone interested in going for it with me?!

I did this very successfully indeed for about 6 weeks in the run up to the summer break. I have been trying to lose weight for a while and was doing OK but then reached a plateau which was when I decided to try something new. And I easily lost a stone doing this.

It was hard in the beginning, for about the first week, then I sort of settled in to it and it just became how it was. And I like the rules of it, because you just can't cheat on it. But it was sometimes hard juggling what the family were going to eat.

I have been cutting down since Tuesday, but will be going for it completely on Monday 5th. I want to lose a stone. Is anyone interested??!!!

Get0rf Well done on persuading him then! My DH doesn't ski at all, I've taking the DC on my own or he comes and reads and drinks lots. But Zell am See is gorgeous, we've had friends go there and say it was fab - it is glacier skiing (?) I think and the lake is beautiful too. Really big envy. We've been to Kirchberg which shares the same ranges as Kitzbuel so not too far from there. Hopefully your DP will love the scenery and apres ski stuff and will learn to love the cold white stuff

I am going to do some carb free food shopping, well going to order online, so I'm ready. I need to read the stuff carefully you have all posted and get my head round this!

Ready. well, as ready as I am ever going to be. went clothes shopping today and it was depressing as hell.

I have a 5kg tub of cottage cheese and 5l of natural yoghurt in the fridge. tons of eggs, cheese and lots of salads.
Also stocked up on sausages (80 prime cut pork ones in the freezer) and various other meats, fish and a massive bag of prawns.

Will start by cutting out bread and pasta again, and switch from white to wholegrain rice, and from sugar to splenda.
Cous cous is a nono isn't it?

Do we want to record weight lost as we go along? As in
RatherBeOnThePiste : Start weight 10:13, Current Weight hopefully less!!

and weigh in once a week? Might be useful ?

Oh no - I've finished you all off... We could just do it as weight lost then?

OP posts:
StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 04/09/2011 19:13

We can record it with start weight, not a problem with me :(

StickThemWithThePointyEnd · 04/09/2011 19:13

:) I meant duh

Catsmamma · 04/09/2011 19:19

I am low carbing, since about may, definitely thinner, but I don't weigh...I have a nasty competitive streak and wilful bathroom scales so to avoid the disappointment i just don't do it!

I am pig2twigging, sort of...I had the book a couple of years back and followed that for a year and lost all i wanted, but then I lapsed, but I like the food and it is easy to do

Well, my personal trainer just made me weigh myself for the bootcamp thing I have been gifted with, so I know exactly much I weigh..... sigh

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/09/2011 21:14

Let's just do weight lost then? If we weigh in once a week maybe on a Friday (if you want to ) and just record that bit of it? It would be good to keep a record maybe? I'm ready to go with it now...

Shall we do a list?

I may join you

I've been tinkering with the Harcombe Diet, and have had a go at phase 1, although have had a couple of weeks off as we've had various social things/it was my birthday

RatherBeOnThePiste · 04/09/2011 21:28

Definitely Ivy, it is good to keep a record
And welcome BecauseImWorthIt - let's give it a go, and with moral support hopefully we will enjoy success! Put yourself on the list....

Can I join in too? Earlier in the summer I started the 17 day diet and stuck at it pretty well to start with. We then had visitors endlessly and I have just come back from holiday yesterday and am starting up again today. I am still a lot lighter than I was to start with but would like to loose another stone and a half. I don't fancy putting my weight up for all to see Blush but have weighed myself this morning and started the day with yoghurt and fruit as a good start to this again.

I'm a bit ahead (in terms of time zones) and this is my 'food diary' for today. Scrambled eggs and decaf coffee for breakfast, a burger with bacon and tomato (minus buns of course) and water for lunch and just had lamb chops with small salad for dinner. Am resisting the pull of the cream tub because if I start I won't stop. Am bloody starving.

Good luck everyone...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 05/09/2011 13:29

You are more than welcome Alison - and we are just recording weight lost once a week - so stick yourself on the list Grin

First day back for everyone - I teach mornings only and DC went back today so this morning was mad. Consequently I didn't have anything, but am going to have an omelette now. Am starving!!
