chocolateshoes · 20/02/2012 20:38

just done Tabata with plank jacks. Feel like I've been run over by a large truck.

threestepsforward · 20/02/2012 21:45

Ooo chocolateshoes, sounds painful!

Grin at baby sixpack gingercat! Will he pass on any tips to us lol?

No Jillian'ing for me today - a day of rest was in the offing, so I will be finishing L3 tomorrow, huzzah!

Let us know what you think of the yoga dvd when/if you do it CHST, would be really interested to know ...

catsareevil · 20/02/2012 22:09

I have moved onto level 2 of ripped now. I'm finding some of it difficult, partly because I'm not fit enough, and partly because I'm not familiar enough with the moves yet.
I also did a L3 of Shred tonight. I'm not sure what inspired me to want to do W2 RI30 and L3 shred within a couple of hours of each other, but no doubt I'll be paying for that in the morning. One unexpected bonus was that after doing W2 ripped, L3 shred actually seemed easy. I never thought I would see that day!

Happypiglet · 20/02/2012 22:32

Ooo so new scales arrived. Have lost nearly lbs since I started the Jillian stuff. Pleased with that and just need to loose a few more. Body fat 23% which seems fine for my age.
Will prob try L3 shred again tomorrow as have less time.
Still no box set though hoping it comes soon so I can join you Ripped people!
Tabata with plank jacks sounds fiendish chocolate I find them hard enough during a normal work out. Think my arms are still a bit weak!

Happypiglet · 20/02/2012 22:33

Woops that's 3 lbs!

CHST · 21/02/2012 08:26

three steps will definitely let you know! I've heard it isn't as intense as some of her others...we shall see tomorrow! Happy that's great!!! I found when I did shred, I put on about 4lbs at first Confused but then by the end I think I was about 2 lbs lighter than my original weight...definitely noticed the changes physically though. It will be interesting to see how ripped affects things. Already after these 6 days I am seeing even more definition in my arms and tummy, particularly obliques. I need to drink more water though for sure.

Jacksterbear · 21/02/2012 13:36

Well done on the weightloss Happypiglet! Has your new DVD arrived yet?

And gingercat and CHST that's great re the improved body shape/tone!

Day 2 L1 Ripped done. Think it will have to be Ripped in 60 for me as I'll only be able to do it 3-4 times a week, so 2 weeks on each level probably. Does anyone else find their knickers, ahem, chafe, on the "fast legs" move? Blush

Happypiglet · 21/02/2012 15:03

Still waitingJackster! So made do with L3 of Shred again today. Managed one of the two circuits of jumping lunges and one of the two circuits of mountain climbers before reverting to lower impact versions so feeling chuffed.

chocolateshoes · 21/02/2012 18:20

argggh - the bad news is that we can't find the DVD remote anywhere so can't do Ripped tonight. Will have to do Tabata again. Boooooooo!

Jacksterbear · 21/02/2012 18:23

Oh choc how annoying!

threestepsforward · 21/02/2012 18:44

I bet you're thrilled about that Chocolateshoes! Hope you manage to find that remote...

Catsreevil, you is well 'ard Grin Seriously well done doing both those on the same day!

Happypiglet and CHST brilliant news on the weight loss!

Jackster, ahem, no, I didn't find that! However, if you want to get me on the subject of trumping at innopportune cardio moments...

L3 done!!!! 7 days of the bugger, now onwards to L4 tomorrow, gulp...

Have a good evening all Smile

Jacksterbear · 21/02/2012 18:50

pmsl at the trumping 3steps! Grin

Happypiglet · 21/02/2012 20:27

Have taken delivery of RI30 and Killer Buns box set. Just watched L1 of killer buns...er...gulp....
Now watching L1 RI30. May try it tomorrow.... Should I? Still not totally on top of L3 Shred but have made progress.
No chafing this end but I do have some issues with jumping jacks in the pelvic floor department and have to really concentrate on holding it all in!

chocolateshoes · 21/02/2012 20:52

Thank God. Took DS up to bed and there it was - on his bedroom floor Hmm so good news (I think!) have now Ripped. Ouf.

Go on HappyP do it!

3steps I def found L4 much easier - maybe its just that I prefer those particular moves. Except circuit 2 - I hate it.

Jacksterbear · 21/02/2012 21:01

Happyp yes do it, if anything L1 Ripped is actually slightly easier than L3 Shred IMO (and definitely easier than L2).

choc good news, well done. Smile

Just me then with the chafing - think I need to find more suitable knickers to exercise in, not those shorts-style ones with the seam right down the middle of the crotch Grin.

CHST · 21/02/2012 21:36

I did the yoga meltdown today and in terms of cardio it didn't push me, but ouuuuch my arse is feeling it...sore!!! I need to work on my flexibility for sure. I did level 1 and there are 2 levels. It is a nice change from what I usually do though.

Happypiglet · 22/02/2012 10:10

So didn't do RI30 went for NMTZ as this is the lastbday I have enough time for an hour long work out! Will be trying L1 RI30 tomorrow!
CHST yoga sounds interesting I am very inflexible though so find it very hard... In fact I like Jillian partly because she is inflexible too( although still better than me!) which makes her a bit more human!

knottyhair · 22/02/2012 10:19

Happypiglet, I totally empathise with your pelvic floor related issues during jumping jacks - I also have to be careful during the running man Blush. And congrats to those of you seeing weight loss and/or looser clothing!
Finally got around to doing L2 Killer Buns this morning - loved it! I love doing a Jillian routine I haven't done before. I did have a few balance issues, particularly in the one-legged burpees and during my feeble attempt at a scissor move in the jumping lunges, but that may also be due to the fact I was trying to look at the TV screen to check I was doing it right! Really enjoyed it but did find parts of it hard - I wonder what L3 Killer Buns is like, has anyone done it?

OP posts:
notyummy · 22/02/2012 10:23

Knotty - I have done L3 and from memory I think it was OK (mostly). Not that much cardio.

I did a 7 mile run yesterday and it was really windy ere - the first 2 miles were straight into a head wind and it felt very hard work. Nothing planned today and NMTZ first thing tomorrow before work.

CHST · 22/02/2012 11:10

guys have any of you done killer buns and thighs, no more trouble zones or six week six pack? How do you do them? eg every day, x times a week?
Which is you favourite Jillian DVD?

notyummy · 22/02/2012 11:18

CHST - I have all of those, plus Shred, Ripped and Burn Fat Boost Metabolism. I like NMTZ, although it is completely strength based (but does get your heart pounding.) I think you need to really push yourself with the weights (i.e use the heaviest possible one you can for each exercise, varying the weights between exercises if necessary.) 6W6P is good, although L2 very hard on cardio and some people find the speed and complexity of the move required difficult at first. I am probably least keen on Killer Buns of all the ones you listed, although it is a good workout. I don't find the cardio hard enough, and I prefer the feeling of having been worked out all over (although my 'buns' are def my problem area.) I tend to mix the DVDs up with running, so this week I did a 5 mile run on Sunday, a 7 mile yesterday, NMTZ tomorrow, 8/9 mile on Friday, probably a double Shred or Ripped on Saturday and another double on Sunday. If I had time to do something 6 days a week I would add in a pilates or yoga workout that wasn't so high impact.

knottyhair · 22/02/2012 11:32

I have all those as well. I try to do something 6 days out of 7, and I just mix them up to avoid boredom. I prefer to do something for only about half an hour so I tend to just do 4 circuits of NMTZ or BFBM but that's just me. I very anally keep a list of the order in which I've done all the workouts, so I don't do the same ones all the time Blush. Notyummy is right about L2 6W6P being hard but I really like it, and I also like Killer Buns a lot but that may be because I'm not as fit as notyummy! I've only done the first 2 levels so far.

Nolda · 22/02/2012 11:37

Hello! I haven't been on for a while as I've had a very bad cold and have had to restart Ripped (did day 4 Level 1 yesterday). I've put myself in for a 5k run on 10 March and so far have done only 1 run (oops). Was hoping to get out today while ds at pre-school but he has a high temperature again and bad chest so he is at home with me.

CHST I have all those DVDs but have found that the ones that I will do regularly are Shred and Ripped because of the it's only 20 minutes things. I did do 6W6P Level 1 and did two days of Level 2 before I packed it in though (broken toe, non-Jillian related) but tellingly, have not been inspired to restart it.

Happypiglet - I'm with you on the pelvic floor issues. I cannot do the double jumps in Shred and have to be careful in running in Ripped.

Well done to everyone with the weightloss and inchloss.

Happypiglet · 22/02/2012 13:12

CHST I have NMTZ which a really like. I did it today and really pushed myself with the weights using heavier ones than normal for the bicep and tricep circuits. In fact I didn't even get the light ones out! I think it is a good overall work and and I do get out of breath so some cardio in there. Plus the last 2 circuits are the easiest!
I have bought Killer Buns as that is my problem area but it looks hard so will need to work up to that I think.
Not tempted by 6W6P as my tummy is my best feature!
I try to do five sessions a week with one each of BFBM (which i hate i am quite unfit CV wise and always struggle my way through it!) and NMTZ on days I have a bit more time and then a Shred (or from tomorrow Ripped) on the other three days.
I am also using my fitness pal to track calories which is a real eye opener!
Glad I am not alone pelvic floor wise!

chocolateshoes · 22/02/2012 14:20

has anyone found an online way of working out how many calories we're burning off during a JM sesh eg Ripped. The one I found only has aerobics and I refuse to believe that L4 Ripped with 5k weights is the same as the aerobics I used to go to in our village hall!
