Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

Chocolate, I use MFP and record any JM stuff as circuit training. Obviously you work harder at some of them than others when I was losing weight using MFP this seemed to be pretty accurate. HTH.

Jacksterbear · 22/02/2012 15:44

knotty yes me too - from what I remember (haven't used MFP for a while) if I log a shred as 25 mins circuit training (slight cheat re timing I know!) it records it as about 180 cals burned.

threestepsforward · 22/02/2012 15:55

only 180 cals Shock? That doesn't seem like a fair reward for the effort put in!

CHST I have all of those DVDs and the only one I don't rate, because it's too high-pace for me, is 6W6P. I think the first circuit is okay, it's the second one where everything falls apart for me as I can't keep up!

I really like NMTZ and I'm looking forward to doing Killer Buns when my ripping is over. I hope I can manage it!

First day of L4 Ripped later - will report back when I've done it if I survive it

worldgonecrazy · 22/02/2012 16:14

I don't use it any more but I'm sure MFP works it out as around 180 - 200 calories.

I read that exercising early morning boosts the metabolism all day, so I think that gets a few extra calories burnt too.

I had a week off due to knees but back doing L2 Ripped yesterday and switched up to L3 Ripped today.

Is NMTZ worth getting? I'm really happy with all of me except for a little jelly-belly. Could it fix that?

knottyhair · 22/02/2012 17:06

With MFP it depends on your weight. I'm 9 stone or thereabouts and a Shred at 25 mins (which it is for the warm-up and the main workout) comes up at 191 cals, Ripped or 6W6P at 30 mins is 229, NMTZ and BFBM are 40 mins for the whole thing which is 305, Killer Buns is about 35 mins which is 267. I always time the workouts from the beginning of the warm up to the end of the main workout but I don't include the cool down.

Worldgonecrazy, I really like NMTZ but don't often have time to do the whole thing. But I find that just 4 circuits (if you choose the right ones!) is still a good workout (about 25 mins). 6W6P would I guess target your stomach more, but to be honest, I find all her routines a good all over workout really!

My DVD arrived today. I will start tonight but I don't have weights yet but will order them, so hopefully I will have some at the weekend.

VenetiaLanyon · 22/02/2012 17:43

Hi all

Level 4 of Ripped started today; found the supermen (can't bring myself to say "supermans") with weights impossible; had to do beginners stuff.

And think I'm going to have nightmares about the weird plank push-ups tonight

Liked the 5 min lie-down at the end with Jillian telling me how strong and wonderful I am though Grin

threestepsforward · 22/02/2012 18:16

Go Venetia!! We're still in synch!

I just did L4...oh my word...I was labouring under the misapprehension I was pretty cardio fit - I had to stop and pause her yelling before the second set of those scissor squat jumps to get my breath back!

Agree the supermans(!) were hard. In Ripped it's definitely the cardio that's packed a punch for me, whereas in her other dvds it's been more the strength stuff. I agree the end was very pleasant Grin

Thanks for the calorie burning info. Although it just seems so unfair, that's barely a chocolate bar on average Shock

Worldgone I think NMTZ is really good too, and as Knotty says you can choose a selection of circuits so you can make the workout shorter. Well done on L3 Ripped today.

Am awaiting the next-day aches with interest, where will they be this time...?

Have a good evening all

threestepsforward · 22/02/2012 18:17

Oo and good luck tonight Borntoshop Smile

notyummy · 22/02/2012 19:51

Am glad that others find that cardio bit in L4 tough too! And yes - the tricep push ups are hard....

Happypiglet · 22/02/2012 20:15

World gone crazy. I love NMTZ I think it is my favourite as it works every bit of you and I ache like crazy afterwards.
I agree that the calorie amounts seem small but I guess they are quite short work outs. And the metabolism boost will help burn extra and also the building of muscle which requires more calories to do nothing!
I have tried to stop 'rewarding' myself for exercise but it is hard. At least I have stopped rewarding myself before I even do the exercise which is what used to happen!
L4 Ripped sounds really tough luckily I am some way off this! CV is my downfall although BFBM is helping slowly...

threestepsforward · 22/02/2012 21:12

Keep at it happypiglet, you're doing fantastic Smile Was it you who was asking whether you could/should do Ripped L1? You'll be absolutely fine with it, it's certainly on a par with Shred stuff, L3 Shred might even be harder.

To be honest I feel a bit demoralised with L3 and 4 Ripped. I didn't think I would be finding it this hard. I won't give up at it, no no no, but it's fair to see that I don't look forward to my daily workouts currently!

Although I am cheered up slightly by seeing that you agree that some of the cardio is hard notyummy Grin (then she remembers that notyummy has only done L4 right on the back of L3!!)

VenetiaLanyon · 23/02/2012 09:48

Threesteps, Level 4 Ripped has got me in the chest muscles; above boobs and to the side.

All calorie stuff is massively unfair; heigh ho...

threestepsforward · 23/02/2012 10:08

Me too Venetia...kind of on the outside of each boob, must be the supermen!

I think it's the cardio aspect that's demoralising. Having been doing some form of Jillian exercise since the start of last year, I just thought I'd be managing it better deluded fool

But I guess it's good to know there's still room for improvement Smile

notyummy · 23/02/2012 10:21

Hello from a very sweaty me. Just done NMTZ and tried to really push myself. Was so sweaty that my elbow kept on slipping when I was doing side planks at the end! Managed 7kg for deadlifts and hammer curls, and for plank rows. Also managed 5kg for both sets of surrenders. Feeling slightly shakey with muscle fatigue, but good overall.

Happypiglet · 23/02/2012 12:46

Wow those weight levels make my eyes water! I ache after my session of NMTZ yesterday using 2.5kgs!
Haven't done Ripped yet shave been gardening and cleaning. If I can bother I might try this evening....
Three steps I find the CV stuff really hard. Even when I was at my fittest before DC1 was born I was still pants at it! I think some people just have better lungs than others! At least we are exercising them to keep them as healthy as we can. I think I am making baby steps but it is slow going.

knottyhair · 23/02/2012 13:31

Threesteps, don't get demoralised! Ripped is definitely a step up from the Shred I would say, and when I think back to how hard I found the Shred at the beginning.... keep going and it will get more enjoyable Smile. notyummy, I'm not surprised you feel a bit shakey! I can just about finish the surrenders with 3kg. Happypiglet, I also find the CV stuff hard. My least favourite Jillian is still BFBM, and I always only ever do 4 circuits. I'm not sure if I find it hard work because I enjoy it less, or the other way round! Haven't done any Jillianing today but my quads & "buns" are definitely feeling it today after L2 yesterday. Also my DP gave me a massage last night and he doesn't do "those namby pamby nice ones" (his words), so I always feel like I've been trampled by a horse the next day Grin! It does help with my lower back trouble though. Planning a Ripped L4 tomorrow. Not sure if I'll get anything done this weekend as it's DS's birthday Tuesday and we've got 18 people here on Saturday afternoon, and another family group of about 14 on Sunday so I've got 3 cakes to make, presents to wrap, decorations to put up, cleaning to do..... think I'll go for a lie down.

CHST · 23/02/2012 14:15

first day of level 2 done. There isn't any part of it that I dislike whereas in level 1, there were a few things I did. Boy though I sweated so much even from the first circuit...the first level I only sweated on the last circuit...felt really good after today

Jacksterbear · 23/02/2012 16:00

Happypiglet if you can do NMTZ with 2.5 kgs you will find Ripped L1 a total breeze! And as for notyummy's weight-lifting abilities... Shock.

3steps hang on in there. Smile

Just done day 3 L1 Ripped (rest day yest). Find it quite easy (well relatively) so thinking of moving up to L2 next week.

Happypiglet · 23/02/2012 18:20

Have decided to give Jillian a miss today three hours of gardening and cleaning are probably enough and by the time DC2 gets in from Beaver Scouts and is in bed it will be gone 8pm and I know I will just want to blob with some chocolate
However straight after the school run tomorrow I have a date with Ripped level 1!!!

threestepsforward · 23/02/2012 18:45

Enjoy the rest day happypiglet, you sound like you've earned it!

Gah, knotty! You're weekend sounds immense...I would be hyperventilating!! Bet DS has an ace birthday Smile

I survived day 2 of L4...thank you for the words of encouragement! It wasn't quite as bad as yesterday. I swapped right down for the supermans (used 1.5 kg) and did mountain climbers instead of the mogals as I have space issues, mind you mountain climbers don't feel like a cop out!

Managed the cardio better today...will keep plugging away...

Waves to everyone, keep up the good work, everyone is doing great!

notyummy · 23/02/2012 19:41

Well I was inspired in the weights department by a thread in Sport and Exercise about ladies who do weights (not mammoth Jodie Marsh style ones, just quite heavy weights but in a structured programme so you look lean, not bulked.) One of the ladies on that thread can do 18 pull-ups Shock. I had known for a while that I could definitely cope with heavier weights for the deadlifts and plank rows....but wasn't sure if I would manage all the surrenders with 5kg. Had a vision of dropping weights on my head towards the end!!

Keep plugging away at the cardio...it does get easier!

Happypiglet · 24/02/2012 09:42

That was my concern not yummy, looking bulky, but it seems that won't happen....
Well done three steps on day 2 glad it was a bit better!
Just done L1 Ripped and I actually enjoyed it. Was not as bad as I thought it might be and some new moves which I enjoyed. Need some heavier weights for the swinging thing and dead lifts. Will have a look on line!

ThePaxton · 24/02/2012 09:44

Hi everyone, have been missing a while. Hi to all the new gluttons for punishment!! Back on it this week. Have ripped L1. I was on L2 but gone back to the start. Want to go through the whole Ripped. Will move up to L2 on monday. I really like NMTZ too, in fact I might do that over the weekend. I aslo fnd the cardio really hard, although am better than I was.

I really want to make exercise a way of life rather than something I do for a couple of weeks then stop for a while and then start again. I've been doing that for over a year now. I always feel great once I exercise and am in a better mood etc, So any motivational mantras/kick up the arse etc that you give yourself to keep doing it. If I do great during the week and then I stop at the weekend, or even have a rest day or am away I can't seem to get going again. I need Jillian to live with me Smile Thanksx

notyummy · 24/02/2012 09:52

Am very stiff this morning...not really looking forward to long run tbh. I know the stiffness wears off when I get going, but it's just getting out there.
