Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

I would get the ripped/killer boxset off amazon as its only £11.99 (£9.99 individually) and if you can 6w6p for only £5.49. With the 4 dvds there is no way you will ever get bored Grin.
I'm slightly crazy and I do 3 workouts from each of the 4 dvd's over 6 days (2 each day) and I dont get bored.

threestepsforward · 14/02/2012 17:39

I survived!! Day 1 L3 Ripped done!

Found parts of it okay and parts really tough. I'm with you on the balancing issues Chocshoes! I was wobbling all over the place, and that was just the warm-up Grin. For the last set of jumping lunges my legs almost refused to cooperate, and I also found the side push-ups hard and I won't even mention the duck walk. Feel good though! I used 3 kg throughout, but just realised there wasn't as much weights stuff in week 3.

Excited I'd definitely recommend Ripped as a good DVD. McPie's suggestion of the killer/ripped box set sounds like a good bargain. I'm not the best person to ask to promote 6W6P as I really really hate it!! It's just too fast for me and I always feel I'm sacrificing form (the little that I have!) for trying to keep up with them.

Do you think I'll ache tomorrow from L3? Hmmm, I think I may do...
Have a good evening everyone Smile

ExcitedElectrons · 14/02/2012 17:41

Thank you notyummy and McPie I will order the ripped/killer boxset as soon as I get paid, I think 6w6p looks a little hard Blush.

Thanks again!

knottyhair · 15/02/2012 08:28

Just popping in to say keep up the good work everyone! Was going to attempt something of a Jillian nature this morning, but still not quite 100% so I'm going to leave it another day I think. Might try L1 Ripped tomorrow and take it a bit easy perhaps. I miss it!!!

Excited, just to stick a spanner in the works, I love 6W6P! Level 1 is fine and the beginner's version doesn't even involve a weight. Level 2 is hard and it IS fast so you do have to watch your form, but you don't have to try to keep up with them if it's too much - I can't double time some of the moves (which is what happens on the 2nd go round), but it's a brilliant workout.

VenetiaLanyon · 15/02/2012 10:18

Threesteps, I'm a day behind you; just did L3 Ripped, and found it more cardio than the first 2.

Quite a lot of stuff that isn't great with a dodgy knee, so had to do some easier versions. For some reason I couldn't do the final pike crunch; is it different from the one in the Shred? I can't remember.

Side push-ups v v difficult; even Basheera was grimacing... Hopefully I'll get the form a bit better tomorrow; was all sorts of rubbish today.

McPie, your regime is making me feel tired and not a little wussy...

Knotty, hope you get back in the saddle tomorrow ok.

Hello to everyone else Smile

McPie · 15/02/2012 10:28

Sorry VenetiaLanyon (and thats half of what I was doing too!), its more desperation than anything else Sad.
I have lost 5lb since the start of the year and I hope because its been slow it will stay off, I still have a stone until I am back to the weight I was last summer. The size 18 jeans that fitted when I got them a few weeks ago now gape at the waist and I can pull them down without unbuttoning them Smile.

gingercat12 · 15/02/2012 13:19

Everybody is so fit here. I am afraid I am not very good at the Shred. I feel I am just getting weaker and weaker. Of course, L3 is a lot harder, but I am quite looking forward to starting RI30 or the Killer buns. I bought the box set from Amazon. Smile On the other hadn I go totally addicted to my littel exercise sessions. I get completely irrational when it gets delayed.

Bought a new pair of digital scales, as I just could not make out my exact weight on the analogue one. (I was better off not being entirely sure, I could see the general down ward trend anyway.) I also got some new exercise shoes, dug out my yoga mat and decided to reorganise the whole lounge when I exercise. (Am not very graceful, but terribly enthusiastic, so need a lot of space.)

threestepsforward · 15/02/2012 14:01

Venetia, we of the dodgy knees are in synch Grin. The pike crunch is horrible and I tend to do that with my legs bent. I can't remember whether it was in Shred, or was it NMTZ? You definitely feel worked out by the end of L3, although I didn't ache today as much as I thought I would. Hope your knee is holding up...

McPie brilliant trouser news!! Even though weight loss is slow, I think it's right that weight that comes off slower is less likely to go back on again? Then again I might be talking rubbish Hmm

Keep going gingercat! Remember you'll most likely see the positive results of Shred from a tape measure than the scales. I totally get that feeling weaker thing. I've been doing some sort of Jillian torture on and off since Jan 1 2011 and any level of Shred can still floor me! I tend to think that's okay though as it must still be doing me good.

Sorry you're still not 100% knotty, wishing you a speedy recovery.

As an aside, I stumbled into Style and Beauty, where I really shouldn't be allowed to go, and the home-done haircut thread. For some inexplicable reason I thought I'd give it a go and I now look like Pat Sharpe circa the 80s. This can be a very dangerous site indeed sometimes...

Day 2 L3 Ripped later for me Smile

knottyhair · 15/02/2012 15:17

Oh threesteps, please post a photo!!!

OP posts:
worldgonecrazy · 15/02/2012 15:53

Well done everyone. My knees have decided to give me a lot of trouble - luckily I'm having to have a couple of days off as I'm away with work, so that should give them enough of a rest for tomorrow.

threestepsforward · 15/02/2012 15:57

OH NO Knotty, no chance of that!! I hate photos even on a good day Grin My friend also managed to remove half of my nose with her nail this morning (bizarre accident that involved me bending down and straightening up too quickly) - I now look, complete with my staffie, crusty nose and bizarre hair, like a character in a council ASBO warning campaign!

threestepsforward · 15/02/2012 15:58

x-posted worldgonecrazy. Sympathies with your knees. I hope they feel better after a few days rest, sounds like a good plan Smile

chocolateshoes · 15/02/2012 20:27

day 3, week 4 Ripped done. I always feel so exhausted afterwards . Home done hair?????? No fear - sounds like a recipe for disaster.

well done McPie. I I have taken a long time to show sign of definition and to feel like I was slimmer. I could feel I was fitter but couldn't really see a difference in my clothes until recently. That is probably because I haven't dieted at all and have no will power when it comes to sweet stuff. Ate a whole bag of mini eggs last night - Jillian would not be happy Blush

Happypiglet · 15/02/2012 21:23

Hi all, well thought half term would be a right off but managed to force myself to do NMTZ tonight after putting kids to bed. I usually Jillian in the morning after school drop off as I hate doing it in evenings. But can't do the DVDs with kids around as they have hysterics!
Starting to see some more definition but not really trying to loose weight so still pigging out eating normally! Glad others are seeing results!
Hair and nose combo sounds hysterical three steps!

knottyhair · 16/02/2012 09:37

worldgonecrazy, hope your knees feel better after a rest. threesteps, ooh that sounds painful! I once got a massive cut across the bridge of my nose when I opened the fridge and a tube of mustard fell out lid end first. Luckily for me the postman rang the doorbell just as it happened and I was dripping blood and watery eye riddled so not embarrassing at all then. Chocolate, you're going great guns and I think you earned the mini eggs! Happypiglet, I know what you mean about the evenings, I'm definitely a morning person. Just did a L1 Ripped - first exercise in 6 days and boy could I tell. Glad I had a go at something but I took it pretty easy and still felt a bit weak! I usually feel quite exhilarated after a workout but definitely was relieved when it was over. I'll do anothe Ripped tomorrow and see how it goes. Have a good day! xx

Jacksterbear · 16/02/2012 10:28

Ok I have finally succumbed and ordered the Ripped/Killer box set! I wanted to feel like I had mastered 6W6P before ordering anything else, but having done L2 for a few weeks feel like I have done that now.

Am Grin at the thought of the home-done hair 3steps you are mad brave trying that!

Oh and I agree with you about still finding shred really hard, even after doing it since last April. What I do find though, is that I now find most of e.g. Davina's workouts relatively easy, and also have upped the level setting at which I cross-train at work, so I must be a lot fitter even though shredding hasn't got any easier! Annoyingly, DH, who exercises only sporadically, seems to have a much higher base fitness level than me, when I compare how out of breath we get jogging / on the exercise bike grrr Envy.

Happypiglet I am maintaining weight now too and just trying to improve tone and definition - glad you are seeing results.

McPie well done on the weight loss and the jean sizing; keep going!

Hope all dodgy knees are on the mend, and well done / keep it up to everyone! x

Jacksterbear · 16/02/2012 12:29

p.s. just done L2 6W6P and totally agree with 3steps that it's hard to keep up with the pace AND have good form, but today was the first time I have actually really felt it in my abs (usually it feels hard on my legs only) so that must mean my form is improving! (Also I think I have been guilty of treating the floor work as a bit of a rest from the cardio Blush and not trying very hard, which I tried to correct today, and ouch!) All in all though agree with knotty and love it!

notyummy · 16/02/2012 12:48

I did L2 6W6P yesterday too! I think the first 4 or 5 times you do it you are working hard to keep up, both with the moves themselves and the cardio blast (particularly the second time round.) I found after that it did get a bit easier, as I dont feel as bad by the end now. I can generally feel it in my lower back the next day, which probably means I should work harder at consciously tensing my core to support this area whilst I am doing it. Still hate those moguls.....

DH says he will do Ripped at the weekend, and wont chicken out, so that is sheduled for Saturday (going to try and do all of 3 and 4, but might not make right until the end....) Nothing today and a crosstrainer session tomorrow - half term so no chance of sneaking in my usual Friday run.

Well done on the weight loss McPie.

And yes Ginger - I agree that tape measure rather than weight the best way to go.

CarelessWispa · 16/02/2012 15:03

Can I just ask you shredding gurus what weights you started using for Ripped in 30 Level 1?

I've been doing Shred level 3 for a while now, using 2kg weights....

Thanks - I value your expert opinions! Smile

knottyhair · 16/02/2012 16:03

Definitely not an expert opinion Careless, but I use 3kg for Ripped. I was already using 3kg for the Shred though. Some moves are harder than others as in the Shred, and I could do with heavier weights for the deadlift type stuff. Do you find that 2kg is as much as you could manage for the Shred, or could you do with heavier weights?

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 16/02/2012 16:07

Afternoon all Smile

Well done with everyone's endeavours and managing to fit in some Jillian'ing amidst busy days!

Knotty the mustard incident sounds painful and funny

Careless I reckon you should give Ripped a go with 2 kg and maybe even go up from there if you have heavier weights? I think Ripped has more strength stuff that doesn't use weights than Shred so I reckon you'll be absolutely fine with 2 kg, and will probably want to go up at some point.

Day 3 of L3 Ripped done and boy it is hard! The final run of jumping lunges gets me as badly as the mountain climbers did in L2 - my legs seem to give up cooperating towards the end!

I'm feeling the effects though and my buns are definitely feeling more steel-like Grin

Jackster - yay - you've ordered Ripped! It really is a good DVD I think.

Hope everyone's having a good day Smile

worldgonecrazy · 16/02/2012 16:08

I'm a lighweight and use 1.5kg because they were what was on special offer in Sainsbury's.

I'm not really into bulking up my muscles so find 1.5kg gives me about the right level of difficulty. I do ensure that I do all the moves and don't cheat, and I also use the weights during some of the cardio sections as per Level 3 of the Shred.

CarelessWispa · 16/02/2012 17:33

Great. Thanks all.

Have watched level 1 and 2 of Ripped now, in preparation for first attempt tomorrow. Level 1 looks doable, Level 2 much trickier. Wish me luck! Smile

Happypiglet · 17/02/2012 07:29

So I have taken the plunge and ordered killer buns and RI30 box set.... I feel a little weak already!
I am a bit of wuss with the weights. I have a Davina set which are in odd kg amounts. So I use 1.6kgs for most things and the 2kg ish ones for stuff I find a bit easier. I find that I loose form if I go too high on the weights...plus I am not really after mega bulked up 'anterior delts' whatever they are!!!!
Will try to Shred at some point today prob L2 altho I need to push myself on to L3 soon. Had a bad day yesterday as i went to a funeral and then comfort ate... plus no exercise.... Oops

VenetiaLanyon · 17/02/2012 09:37

Day 3 Level 3 Ripped; jumping squats really get me in the thighs, and bizarrely all the balancing makes the arches in my feet ache....she's not got me there before < shakes fist at Jillian>.

Why is it so much harder to do the duck walk backwards rather than forwards?
