Oops we're full up again! Hope it's OK to start a new thread. Come on Jillian devotees, let's keep up the good work and the great results!

Knotty - think your assessment of L2 6W6P is correct. It is HARD. I also use 3 kg weight - I don't think I could use more because of how fast you need to move it on the second circuit!

My back does usually respond to rest (and lying flat on my back on a hard surface.) I need to be slightly careful as I have been too gung ho in the past and ended up with a herniated disc, in absolute agony - and paying a fortune to a phsyio. Not good....

threestepsforward · 09/08/2011 16:18

Gawd notyummy, poor you Sad The last time mine went badly I was laid out flat on it for a week. Chiropractor said best thing in my case was to keep active, but I just couldn't move! Hope you're on the mend soon...

I love this thread as it inspires me to keep pushing myself. No BFBM dvd yet so I did L2 of 6W6P this afternoon. I don't like it at all!! It's so fast that I don't feel I'm doing any of it that well. I end up doing things (bicycle crunches) at my own pace, but still with all the other moves feel like my efforts are half-baked because of the pace... Do you think it still does some good even if the form isn't perfect?

I do like the cardio bits of it though so am looking forward to BFBM arriving...

worldgonecrazy · 09/08/2011 16:25

I did Level 1 of 6W6P this morning. It felt quite easy compared to Level 3 shred. I'm sure I'm getting the form wrong for some of the exercises as I'm not feeling it in any of the core muscles yet. I'm going to concentrate on form tomorrow - the problem is that the exercises change so fast there isn't time to get the form right before you're on to the next one. Side crunches just hurt my neck so I think I was pulling on my neck.

chocolateshoes · 09/08/2011 21:40

Poor you Yummy - hope your back is better soon. I have scoliosis so have back pain a lot so can sympathise. Shred L3 nearly killed me again tonight. Think I'll do a session of NMTZ instead tomorrow & avoid some of the cardio as my calf is twinging a little bit. Please tell me this will all be worth it some day!!!

febes · 10/08/2011 05:36

I had a good BFBM session this morning. I love it! Not sure what to do tomorrow NMTZs or 6W6P? You decide!

threestepsforward · 10/08/2011 08:57

Go for NMTZ Febes!

Your post has reminded me Big Brother starts soon on Channel 5 Grin

threestepsforward · 10/08/2011 18:35

Felt properly pooped today, but managed to persuade myself to do L1 Shred, no extra weights in the cardio! That'll do me for today ...

Good evenings all Smile

knottyhair · 11/08/2011 10:32

Morning all. Did 4 circuits of NMTZ with cardio inbetween this morning. Managed 3kg for most things but had to go down to 2kg for a couple of moves. Did the killer abs circuit (no 2 I think) and the bicycle crunches 2nd time round really kill me! They're fine in the Shred, I guess it's doing them after the other stuff! Hope everyone's having a good day.

Afternoon Jillian devotees

Well Amazon e-mailed me to say how brilliant they are as they have been able to ship BFBM earlier than expected (ordered over a week ago Hmm)

No matter as I have gone all the way through NMTZ again today (with added cardio a la Knotty!)

Drum roll please....I pulled out a very old pair of size 8 jeans that I've not been able to wear for ages but have never got rid of as I adore them... and .... they fit!!! Am chuffed to bits!
I never measured at the beginning of my Shred journey, but the proof of the pudding lies in my jeans Grin. I haven't been dieting so this miracle I imagine lies in the Shredding/Jillianing and in cutting down a lot on alcohol...rah!

Hope everyone is doing well today Smile

knottyhair · 11/08/2011 17:29

Threesteps, great news on the size 8s! And can I say if I do NMTZ all the way through I don't add any cardio so respect is due Smile.

OP posts:
threestepsforward · 11/08/2011 17:35

Thanks knotty Smile

And respect right back at you for managing any of NMTZ with 3kg weights! I do 2kg and it's touch and go whether I can keep going with them in some parts (circuits 1 and 4)...

Off for a much needed bath and a hair wash lol

chocolateshoes · 11/08/2011 20:31

well done 3Steps!

That NMTZ abs circuit is hard isn't it - but def worth it I think. I hate the 2nd set of bicycle but also hate the second chest one with the weights which coming straight after the other weights and chest ex is a killer. Have just finished and haven't got the strength to pick my weights up and put them away so the mat & weights are strewn accross the lounge and will stay there til tomorrow.

threestepsforward · 12/08/2011 16:44

Oo Chocshoes I feel your pain! That second lot of abs in circuit 2, with the weights and straight legs, really kills! I can feel it most quite high up - in the middle a bit under the boobs, is that normal?!

Did a L3 Shred today. No matter how long I've been doing it, any Shred level still seems like a good blast of a workout!

Have a fab weekend everyone Smile

knottyhair · 12/08/2011 17:11

Threesteps, I feel it in exactly the same place, and I think the bicycle crunches work the same area which is why they're so bloody hard in that circuit!

OP posts:
notyummy · 13/08/2011 14:30

Hi all! Been away as MIL visiting- not all bad as she looked after dd yesterday so i could get out for a run (7 miles.) pushed for time this morning so did first 5 circuits of NMTZ (mixture of 5 and 3kgs.) It always feels harder first thing in the morning.....

McPie · 14/08/2011 01:01

Well I have done 26 Shock shreds since sunday night, 4 to do tomorrow to complete the 30 in just over a week!!!
Crazy I know but I needed a really good kick start, I have dropped so far 11 1/2 inches ish (ish cos I cant remember where I measured on my thighs so it could be more) and a massive 0.6 of a pound Hmm.
Next week I move onto BFBM for a couple of weeks then move onto 6W6P in 3 weeks in prep for my birthday in 6 weeks, nothing like an evening being a partner rather than a mum to motivate me plus my toe is better now so no excuses allowed.
I have dropped sugar, allow 1 night a week, and limit myself to 2 cups of caffinated coffee a day as well as cutting my salt intake and upping the water I drink.
Lack of weight loss is driving me crazy but plan on keeping a diary so if things stall I can see where Im going wrong or prove to the Dr's I dont sit on my arse all day!!!
I have only really tried the other dvd's a couple of times but are they really as good as the shred is? I really dont want to get bored doing the same things each day but my Davina ones just dont seem to cut it these days, I had sweat on my sweat after 2 double sets of level 3 which I have never encountered with anything else.

febes · 14/08/2011 02:58

Bloody hell!!
30 shreds in a week!!!
I don't think you will find BFBM as intense as shred but I do have sweat on my sweat during some of the circuits. The kick boxing ones are quite easy though.

worldgonecrazy · 14/08/2011 09:17

mcpie I haven't lost much weight either doing JM BUT I have lost inches and that's the important bit.

McPie · 14/08/2011 10:41

I had to do something as I stepped on the scales on monday and nearly cried, I am about 10lb more than I was 6 weeks ago, stupid bloody school holidays, hubby stressing me out and toe injury have knocked my previous progress for six!!!
Thanks febes for the input on BFBM I will see how I go next week then swap back to shred the week after if its not up to much.
worldgonecrazy it drives me mental trying to get my head around it, I worry I will be this weight forever but be toned which would be ok if my starting weight was reasonable but I can assure you it sure as hell is not!!!

threestepsforward · 14/08/2011 10:46

McPie that thudding sound was my jaw hitting the floor!! Bloody hell! Are you still upright and mobile after that week?

I've certainly worked up a sweat with 6W6P and NBTZ actually. My BFBM has finally arrived and I'm planning to try it this afternoon, will report back on sweat-age!

Enjoyed Dine in for Two yesterday (2 of us not just me!) and polished the evening off by eating a family sized bar of chocolate Grin. I don't eat it that often, but when I do, I really do!!

Hope everyone has a good day, will check in later after my first BFBM experience....

threestepsforward · 14/08/2011 10:49

McPie meant to also say 11.5 inches is bloody fantastic! Can you focus more on body size shrinking (which is surely is) rather than pounds dropping?

Jacksterbear · 14/08/2011 12:07

Holy crap mcpie!! Well done on the inch loss.

I must say I didn't lose weight doing shred alone either, only once I joined mfp and started dropping my calorie intake alongside the exercise.

McPie · 14/08/2011 13:22

Thanks yes I'm still standing and feel breathless like I did before I started, I tend to get to a weight where I constantly feel slightly breathless. I do split it into two so will do 2 L3 after lunch then the last 2 after tea, normally after breakfast and lunch but had quite a few voddys last night. I'm looking forward to see how much I can do of the BFBM and am tempted to chuck the scales just incase they start demotivating me!!!

threestepsforward · 14/08/2011 13:49

McPie, I hope this doesn't come across badly...it's meant well (and also comes from a fellow "wants to see results right away right now" type of person!)..but if you're feeling constantly breathless you should maybe ease off the gas a bit, even just for a day or so? Also your body will need time to rest as it's getting a pretty sustained hammering! Have you had any days off at all...or even afternoons off?

I totally think you should ditch the scales though, that is a good plan! At least for the time being... You may be heavier on the scales, but a good part of that will be the muscle you will be building. Judge how you're doing by your clothes - they must feel looser if you've lost 11.5 inches?

Hope you don't think I'm being a nag Blush - just don't want you to do yourself an injury, especially if you've only just recovered from a previous one!

knottyhair · 14/08/2011 15:17

Wow, McPie, that's VERY hardcore! I do agree with threesteps about the breathlessness though - take care of yourself. And like Jackster, I also use MFP to log calories along with Jillian DVDs, and have lost inches and weight this way. Well done on 11.5 inches though. Amazing!
I did a L1 Shred this morning with an audience again - my friend's DD who's staying was fascinated, although not enough to join in despite my kind invitation Grin! Managed 3kg for all the strength, and added them for the basic crunches, and added 2kg for all the cardio. Still a proper workout!
