Venetia - 6W6P has a fair amount of stuff inc burpees, lunges etc so not sure it would fit the bill. Most of the NMTZ circuits might be more doable as some are on the floor, and those that aren't are slow and controlled weight work, rather than jumping/running etc

chocolateshoes · 08/09/2011 20:00

Venetia - Agree with Notyummy - when my calf muscle was at its worse I stuck to the core, abs and mat work on NMTZ. You might struggle with the plank moves maybe? At least a week isn't too long.
Should have gone to Zumba tonight but shattered after work and standing up for ages at Ds's swimming. Can't face it. Blush

VenetiaLanyon · 09/09/2011 09:47

Thanks for the tips, folks. I tried the NMTZ core stuff this am, and did the plank work on my knees. Should keep me going until the Shred can return.

I find the chest ys (sp?) with the legs v difficult, and think I might incorporate this version into the Shred, as I don't find them difficult by themselves.

knottyhair · 09/09/2011 10:21

Morning! Did 4 circuits of BFBM this morning and purposely avoided circuit 6 - must make myself do it next time! Febes, 6W6P L2 is hectic isn't it?? I like it though! Venetia, good advice on here for stuff to do with your injury - hope it improves soon. Chocolateshoes, hope you feel less knackered today. Weighed in this morning, hoping to have reached my target of 9 stone and I was... 9 stone and half a pound! I know it's nothing but aaaaargh! Perhaps I need to "drop the kids off at the pool" so to speak Grin. Sorry, TMI.

Lordy it's quiet! Did a L1 6W6P this morning, with 3kg weights - was still a sweaty mess by the end of it, and still am nowhere near managing the super advanced spider things. Hope everyone's having a good weekend x

notyummy · 11/09/2011 08:57

Well done on the 6W6P Knotty. Having not done much weights work at all recently (holiday was only using water bottles and managed a L3 shred earlier this week, but that had been it) I then did NMTz with a mixture of 5kg, 3kg and 1.5 (was doing it with DH and he kept nicking the weights u would gave used- I don't usually use 1.5kg.) I am now really sore so god knows what I would have been like if I used only 5 and 3kg!!

chocolateshoes · 11/09/2011 19:11

hi all, still struggling on with Shredding - does it ever get easier, couldn't find NMTZ for ages and had been planning on adding a bit to the end of Shred when I had time - eventually found it in DSs' Ice Age Box, so at least I can start adding that in. haven't done anything today because I went to an 80s party last night and danced my leg warmers off so think that'do. Back to it tomorrow, honestly!

McPie · 11/09/2011 21:48

I hope everyone is doing well, I am still plodding along (well not last week as the drastic change of weather brought on a cold as it always does) and the scales are still driving me crazy but then I have dropped down the number of workouts I am doing.
Its amazing I have managed to do anything as I cant seem to get rid of a bad bout of thrush (drs on friday) and I feel constantly bloated so have been trying nettle and fennel tea as well as mint in the hope it helps the sluggish heavyness but as I have not worked out what food type is causing it I dont hold out much hope, how many problems can I bombard the dr with in one appointment? Sad

McPie · 12/09/2011 10:46

Ok colds still lingering as all I could drag my self through was 1,3 and 5 of BFBM today, last week I could do double that and add on 2 and 4 Sad. Will head up later and try to do the same, I just could not find the energy to do any more at once but at least I have done something.

VenetiaLanyon · 12/09/2011 11:02

Don't over do it, McPie. I was always told that exercising with a bad cold can put unnecessary strain on the heart, so might be best to cosset yourself for a while. Hope you feel better soon.

Chocolate, the shred never gets any easier for me; possibly just gets harder, as my form gets better....

Have been doing NMTZ whilst foot recovers. Doing plank stuff on knees, and interestingly the plank twist seems more effective for me this way; actually hurts my side, whereas I always felt I was doing it wrong in the Shred.

knottyhair · 12/09/2011 12:03

I'd echo Venetia, McPie, I wouldn't do anything, particularly anything aerobic with a cold - it also can prolong & worsen your symptoms. Try to rest if you can, and drink plenty of fluids and wait it out. Ooh Venetia, I might try the plank twists on my knees then, I can never feel them much.
Was all set to Shred this morning but ended up trying to sort out a PC problem from 7.30am and it's just sorted now Angry. Never mind.

I'm going to do circuits 1-5 of NMTZs today. I have only be managing one Jillian session a week of late but I am doing c25k (and loving it) and training of a triathlon so swimming once a week and cycling twice. My weight is slowly going down (4lbs off 5st loss!!) The first tri is 6th of November!!

VenetiaLanyon · 13/09/2011 11:27

Blimey Febes, your weight loss is truly phenomenal - congrats! How do you find the time to fit all that exercise in?

notyummy · 13/09/2011 12:03

Well done on the weight loss Febes - amazing!!

I have suffered for days after returning to NMTZ on Saturday! Did a 7 mile run on Sunday and actually once I got over the initial stiffness it really helped....but the stiffness was back yesterday and I really struggled through a Billy Blanks Bootcamp Workout. Big recommend from me btw if you fancy a workout away from Jillian occasionally. Today I did a 5 mile run and it felt longer in that wind.....but my NMTZ aches are finally subsiding!!

McPie · 13/09/2011 14:14

Woohoo Febes thats pretty amazing.
Did not do any more yesterday as I couldn't drag myself back upstairs, the cold has gone but its left behind a lack of energy which I cant seem to shake Sad hope to get back to it in the next day or so.

knottyhair · 14/09/2011 10:12

Wow, Febes, way to go! Hope you're feeling better McPie, don't try to do too much while you're feeling like that.

Just did 6W6P L2 with 3kg weights - just going to find a quiet corner to fade away in.

Coming out of lurk mode - had to take a few weeks off and also got a bit lazy. Did L3 of the 30 day shred last night and again this morning. Thought I was going to die, but not as hard as when I first began. Really noticed I was getting a bit flabby. Knees are still knackered so not doing the jumping lunges but managed just about everything else.

notyummy · 14/09/2011 11:30

Knotty - I have done that a few times myself and know exactly how hard it is!! I always feel like I am to die during the second time round with those bloody moguls and t stand kicks....

knottyhair · 14/09/2011 11:39

Yes! And to finish on mountain climbers, that's just cruel!

OP posts:
chocolateshoes · 14/09/2011 15:58

Ladies who know - would you say 6W6P would be the best way to tackle my jelly belly?

knottyhair · 15/09/2011 15:04

Chocolate, I'm sure someone will be along who knows more about this, but I'd say 6W6P (or any targetted core work) is the best way to strengthen your abs, but in order to burn fat off your tummy, any cardio would be good. I think a lot of the runners on here say that they had really good results re: fat burning (but I can't stand running!). 6W6P does include a bit of cardio and I definitely get out of breath in parts especially L2, but I didn't do it every day for 6 weeks, I just do some form of Jillian DVD most days so I don't get bored. HTH!
Did L2 Shred this morning - definitely still my least favourite but not as bad as it used to be. Tried to go up to 3kg for some moves but ended up back at 2kg after a few attempts! Hate hate hate hate the chair squat v-raise things - don't know why!

OP posts:
VenetiaLanyon · 16/09/2011 08:38

knotty, am with you on intense hatred for chair sqaut v raise thingies.

chocolate, if you could see my tummy you'd know that I'm not best qualified to advise on wobbly remedies....Grin

I am back in the shredding swing after doing abs for a week; did I notice a difference in my shredding ab ability? Nope Hmm

knottyhair · 17/09/2011 09:00

Morning! Just did a L3 Shred, managed 3kg for the strength stuff and 2kg for the cardio (although my punches were much slower than their's! Think I need 1.5 for those). Actually did 2 sets of jumping lunges although the noises I was making prompted DP to run downstairs thinking I'd hurt myself Grin.

OP posts:
notyummy · 17/09/2011 09:36

Oooh those jumping lunges- I HATE them with a passion!

My back is playing up so have been playing it slightly safe. 5 mile and 30 mins of pilates yesterday. L1 shred and some Matt Roberts 'Fit for your shape' work today (he does some pretty strenuous stuff, exercise fans, but all books- no DVDs!)

knottyhair · 17/09/2011 09:47

I love your version of "playing it safe" notyummy!
