Just getting on the new thread

foreverondiet · 18/07/2011 19:14

Hi mumpotnoodle - I added you. I think the trick is to not get too obsessed, I use it to ensure portion control is sensible.

Good timing as I've got back into MFP again this week. Lost 5lbs in 2 weeks on it last time so hoping for good things again. I've been eating crap since then and put the 5lbs back on.

I have an ipad now so easier to input foods during the day.

Am Binkacat on there

SandStorm · 18/07/2011 19:17

Marking my place too (morningsunrise for those who would like to add me).

I have had a truly awful weekend but I'm back on track now. 2lbs away from my first stone but will be happy with a STS on Friday. I'm intending to up the exercise later in the week too.

Wifezilla · 18/07/2011 20:11

I'd love to join you - I've been on MFP for a little while and was motivated to log all food for a few weeks but have been too lazy lately! I enjoy exercise, but really need to sort out my eating habits. I'd much rather not bother with meals but graze all day, even when I'm not hungry (so perhaps it's best I haven't completed a food diary recently!).

thanks foreveronadiet, you're my first friend :)

I didn't realise mfp broadcast all of my updates - the pressure is on now, just what a need!

Ladyface · 18/07/2011 20:34

Hello. I signed up to MFP a week ago and have lost 3lbs so far. I need to lose two stone of baby weight. I turn 40 in one month and feel like a blob so could def do with some extra motivation to stay on track. I am ladyface123.

SandStorm · 18/07/2011 20:53

I've just added you too, Wifezilla, and then realised you'd already requested me! That'll teach me to update my page more often :)

Tw1nkle · 19/07/2011 08:06

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 19/07/2011 11:58

Hi everyone, I didn't see the new thread! Just thought you had gone all quiet. I added you all online, I am TooManyCookies.

I have not been very good the last two days but am hopefully back on track today. I will weigh myself on Thursday that's when I started.

knitknack · 19/07/2011 19:44

I'm hopsie on there - just watching food and shredding (although not every day) it's been SUCH an education!!

hairypotter · 19/07/2011 20:26

Hello everyone it's been a while since I posted on the old thread but I fell off the mfp wagon in style a couple of months ago.

I hurt my hip while out running and couldn't do any exercise (doctors orders, honest) so to make up for it, I decided to get stuck into the cake tin instead. Confused

I've been told that I've got arthritis in both hips and although it's not as bad, it's still sore. I've decided that the only way forward for me is to stop obsessing about my weight and just eat well and do more exercise.

Have been trying that approach for a while and after weighing myself for the first time in about 2 months, I've lost half a stone! That brings my total up to 19lbs. Smile

So no more mfp for me at the moment but would like to lurk on the thread and post from time to time if you'll have me.

VivaLeBeaver · 19/07/2011 21:17

Hi, I've changed my Mfp username to vivalebeaver, less confusing.

RGPargy · 19/07/2011 22:24

Hi everyone!

Am pretty much just bookmarking the new thread. I have had a quick scout through and added those who aren't on my list already. Feel free to add me if i've missed you! :o

I put on 0.4lb this week Angry, although it is TOM.

Who knows anything about green tea? I seem to lose lots of weight when i drink at least 2 cups of cranberry green tea a day and lately i've not had any and so far haven't really lost any weight this week. Could be coincidence or it could be true?? Who knows! I hope it's true coz if so i'm going to be drinking lots more of it!!

Hmm
foreverondiet · 19/07/2011 23:03

RG green tea supposed to be good for weight loss and also killing off fat cells. I did buy a pack of green tea tablets from healthspan but I finished and I didn't buy more. Also Alpha Lipoic acid. DH bought some (ALA) when he read Tim Feriss's 4 hour body but he didn't finish the bottle so I'm taking them now!

Don't worry about weight if TOTM you'll loose a lot next week instead.

OP posts:
SandStorm · 20/07/2011 06:59

I wouldn't worry about 0.4lbs too much. I reckon I've put on this week through a combination of TOTM due at the weekend and the fact I went completely off the rails last weekend for no apparent reason. I'm back on track now but I think the damage has been done. Still, no use crying over spilt milk. I know what I did wrong and I'm putting it right again now :)

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 21/07/2011 00:15

I had a pizza tonight. And a dessert. I feel awful now and probably even worse tomorrow at my weigh in. Sad
I feel like a failure for not being able to even do this for 1week!

VivaLeBeaver · 21/07/2011 00:35

Don't feel a failure. youve done it for 6 days, had a break and will start again tomorrow. Its better to be good for 5 or 6 days and then a bit naughty than being bad every day!

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 21/07/2011 00:38

Thank you!

I have not been doing it well though, I have been overeating every day. I said I wanted to lose 1.5 pounds a week but that puts me on only 1200 calories. I think I might have to up that, as I never manage on that somehow. And then I get over it and get a bit of a 'screw it, I am already being bad' attitude if that makes sense.

VivaLeBeaver · 21/07/2011 01:13

Can you up your exercise?

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 21/07/2011 02:01

I will probably have to. I took my bike to work today for the first time and found that quite exhausting even though it's only 2 miles each way. but I guess it is a start.
And the I will have to start hitting the gym again. I am not good with motivating myself though to be honest. I think that is a huge issue. And I have no one here at the moment to go with.

And I know, it's all excuses. it's definitely good to talk on here Smile

magicalrealistmum · 21/07/2011 05:56

Hi

I'd love to join in. I would like to lose about 2 stone. I have been using MFP which has helped stop the weight increasing anymore, but so far no real loss.

I am now able exercise after an improvement in a long term chronic condition so I have bought a bike, some trainers and am ready to go...currently cycling to work once a week and using gentle fitness video every other am and loving the feeling of being able to move again. Obviously, need to move a bit more and eat less...seems easier said than done... Blush
so I hope having extra support will help

My username on MFP is DizziD

Wifezilla · 21/07/2011 10:12

I've found it very motivating having "friends" on MFP as it makes me question what I eat when I know others can see my food diary - for example I don't want to publically declare that I ate 3 packets of Quavers in one day, so I don't eat them. In saying that, I've only had friends for 3 days so am feeling positive at the moment - next week it may change!

WannaBeMaryPoppins - can you set yourself a few realistic challenges on the exercise front? For example, aim to cycle to work twice a week and use the gym twice (or whatever combination works for you?) 2 miles is a long way if you're not used to it, but in no time you'll find it a breeze. If you set goals you know you can achieve, it really helps with the movtivation.
