size 8 and toned EnvyGrin. I really need to sort myself out....if others can ditch that amount of weight blah blah....all in the mindset, I know.

foreverondiet · 26/07/2011 10:00

Yes its in the mind. You are in control of what you eat and how much exercise, and what this diet has taught me is that its as much about the quality and the quantity. No point in stressing on how many calories if you are eating badly.

eg - I commented on another thread that I thought that someone else's suggestion of a meringue nest was a dreadful diet dessert idea, and they said why not only one pro point or 55 cals. Yes, its 55 cals of pure sugar with no nutritional value. If you need something sweet better to eat apple even if its 80 cals.

Also regular exercise, esp toning / weight bearing is important.

I like Paul McKenna, he can fix your mind!

Excellent point about quality of food, will bear that in mind. I'm on the new Paul thread so hopefully I can sort myself out soon Grin.

Wifezilla · 26/07/2011 10:58

thanks forever, that list is really useful. I agree with quality over quantity - I was doing weight watchers but found it didn't really work for me when I was snacking on low point foods (of no nutritional value) and ate within my points every day. The meringue nest v apple is a perfect example.

I will go and check out the guy on mfp, and perhaps read up on how Paul McKenna can fix my mind :)

foreverondiet · 26/07/2011 11:18

To be fair to WW thats why fruit is now free - because people making bad choices based just on points / calories.

But you could still say the same eg meringue vs cashew nuts etc.

If you get to the point you are choosing what type of food based solely on calories you are doing something wrong.

Choose the best quality foods and the quantity to eat based on calories.

tinker316 · 26/07/2011 11:37

I have been drinking green tea 4 years!!
Was unaware that it helped 2 shift weight??!!

foreverondiet · 26/07/2011 11:55

To be fair about the tea even if you do believe that it works would probably have to drink a lot for it to make any difference.

tinker if you have a problem with carb cravings consider breaking the cycle with a 2 week induction on something like south beach diet.

Oh loads of great advice on here today!

I had a bad slip up last night with cookies. I will go to the gym in a few minutes though and try burn some of those calories of.
I know you are not supposed to weigh yourself everyday but I am so bad with that. So if I ate loads of extra calories yesterday, how come I haven't put on weight today? Is the nasty surprise going to come tomorrow?

I do have green tea with lemon flavour in the cupboard. I think I will try that, even if it won't necessarily help directly. I do drink a lot of red tea though, as iced tea, and always think I go to the loo much more than when I only drink water. Blush So maybe tea gets rid of extra water?

Clean eating sounds hard but it all makes sense!

I woke up this morning realising that I got a job interview in exactly two weeks. It felt much longer away somehow. Hopefully that will help me keep motivated for those two weeks, losing another kilo or so might not be visible but probably make me feel better...

Oh and forever, well done on losing so much of your body weight! That is truly amazing and inspiring!

tinker316 · 26/07/2011 18:43

forever what does the south beach diet consist of??

foreverondiet · 26/07/2011 22:09

south beach is the healthiest least faddy most sensible diet i have come across.

I'm going to subject the south of Brittany to the sight of me in a swimming costume today. Look out for reports of a beached whale making its way into a swimming pool and think to yourself, 'yes, she should have been stricter with her diet' Grin

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 28/07/2011 10:32

Gilbonzo, I am sure it's not that bad! Enjoy your day and have fun!

I just had my weigh in and only lost 600grams this week. I was weighing way less just two days ago and went to the gym yesterday and worked out like crazy. And still I must have put weight back on those last two days. How can that be? Bit frustrated about that somehow, as I worked so hard yesterday.

WannaBeMarryPoppins · 28/07/2011 10:36

Oh just saw it's only 500 grams. So even less than I thought. Oh well. I am on y pill break right now so should come on my period at some point this week (doesn't always show up with this pill though). Could that have something to do with me gaining weight back?

I should really only step on those scales once a week..

foreverondiet · 28/07/2011 10:57

marypoppins weight gain (or lack of loss is due to)

a) water rentention TOTM
b) muscle repair after heavy gym workout!

OP posts:
WannaBeMarryPoppins · 28/07/2011 11:04

Well I did lose 500 grams, just thought it would be a bit more after cheekily weighing myself every day this week Blush

I will just hope that it's both those things then. HOpefully the gym will help me to tone up though, even if I don't lose weight.

RGPargy · 28/07/2011 16:46

Hi everyone! :o

Got my work's summer party tonight - great that it's a BBQ but bad coz it's free booze!! Hmm

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 29/07/2011 17:15

How as the party RG? Free booze...mmmmmm Grin

I weighed myself again this morning because dh said I looked smaller and I'm lost another 1.5 kg!! Woooo Smile Fantastic achievement considering I've now been out for pizza twice this week - I did choose minimal cheese type ones and left at least a 3rd of it each time and they are freshly made French street cafe ones so very thin crusts/base though. Still frikkin delicious!

Flisspaps · 29/07/2011 17:19

I've just signed up to MFP (same username) and am stunned at how many calories I will have munched through by tonight! I thought I'd been quite healthy today as well (apart from some pate!)

I've had to modify my tea in order to keep the overall calorie count down so am having a veg chilli instead of a meat chilli. 30 Day Shred is ready to go once DD has gone to bed, and I've also ordered 10 minute Rapid Results Pilates, some wrist weights, a pedometer each for DH and I and some jogging bottoms - I do so little exercise that I don't actually own a pair Blush

I am the sort of person who needs a LOT of cajoling and tend to start a diet with lots of gusto and then by day 3 give up because I fancy one bottle glass of wine or a bar bit of chocolate. My will power is pathetic.

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 29/07/2011 19:46

Flisspaps - I have admired your name from afar many atime and wished I'd thought of it first Grin

If it helps, I've just posted about losing weight and now I'm sat on the sofa with a Gilbonzo family sized pack of Maltesers keeping me company. I'm telling myself it's because I didn't have time to eat until dinner time today so I deserve a few calories but I think those cals may have expired 9 maltesers ago.

tinker316 · 29/07/2011 20:59

I have managed 2 refrain from chocolate...at the moment Wink instead I'm enjoying a couple of glasses of Pinot grigio Grin plus I'm under my daily calorie allowance = bonus Grin

RGPargy · 29/07/2011 21:49

The party was ok - the music was just piano music and then a little bit of very quiet jazz. Not my taste at all and lots of people said the music was too dull for a supposed party!! Hmm I managed to stick to Pimms and Kronenbourg all night and thankfully (despite only having 4 hours sleep) i woke up without a hangover!! :o Result! :o

My food has not been very good this week at all i'm afraid. I was good up until yesterday when i had to have a boardroom lunch and all that was on offer foodwise was a chinese buffet (yummy but terrible on my low-carb eating!). Then of course it was the party which was BBQ food (but awful) and lots of alcohol. Today was the firm's free once monthly breakfast and i my choices weren't the best but i put that down to being sleep deprived Wink Today was a pub lunch with a pint of cider. I think i can safely say that i have written off today and yesterday as a baaaaad couple of days. Oopsie!! Will have a better day tomorrow and will actually get back into the gym too as my knee, so far, feels much better than it did. Think i might wear my knee support too, just to be safe.....

Flisspaps - will add you! Love the name! :o

MumPotNoodle · 30/07/2011 04:36

Epic fail for the last two days as well....and now I am wide awake at stupid o'clock grrrrrrrr.

Flisspaps · 30/07/2011 11:26

Thanks Gilbonzo - and RGPargy.

RG, I have a confession to make - I put the minutes for today's Shred on in advance to see what my overall calorie deficit for the day would be and now that you've commented on it, I HAVE to do it and can't get out of it Grin

I definitely did last night's though - and it wasn't nearly as awful as I thought. I'm feeling it in my legs today but am hoping that will have worn off by the time I stick the DVD on when DD's gone to bed :)
