I'm back on it after gaining 5lbs. Same name on here as MFP as here need lots of motivation to stop jeans looking like they've been sprayed on.

tinker316 · 30/07/2011 14:17

How many calories does a shred session burn???

Flisspaps · 30/07/2011 18:51

RGPargy Session done as promised!

tinker316 MFP tells me that it's 330 for a 30 minute circuit training session - but I don't know if the number of calories burned is different for someone of a different weight if they have to work more or less hard at it IYSWIM? I don't know if MFP would calculate that it would burn say 200 for someone who was 10 stone instead?

Flisspaps · 30/07/2011 18:56

Have added some of you as friends (it will only let me do so many every few minutes) but feel free to add me too :)

foreverondiet · 30/07/2011 22:25

Hi flisspaps, yes hard to believe quite how much you are eating until you see it there on mfp! welcome!

Tinker I estimate shred session at 200 cals but it would depend on your weight and I guess also exactly how much effort you put it.

I have just bought Jillian Michaels "master your metabolism" book. Yes I know i already have far too many diet books. But I like this one as i see it more as a lifelong plan rather than a "diet". I read an interview with her in a magazine where she said that she ate 2000 cals a day AND only did 3-4 hours in the gym a week! How is this possible? It seems that she eats a very very healthy diet, with no scope for anything unhealthy. No processed food, no refined carbs, no artificial additives or sweetners, all organic etc. I will try and incorporate the principles (although too expensive to buy only organic) - for me main thing is to cut my daily treats - diet coke and activia yoghurts (contains sweetners). can post more about it if anyone wants to know more!

Flisspaps - yay!!! Well done for doing your session!!! :o

Off to the gym in the morning tomorrow for combat and pump and then we are off to Bedgebury for some more biking (but with DD so it wont be intense, i doubt!). I went to the gym today to do pump and wore my knee support. It wasn't too bad but is a little stiff now and then. My friend is going to spin in the morning but i think that Combat will be the easier option (with my support on!) and then do pump after. Hope the biking at Bedgebury doesn't finish me off but i suppose i'll soon find out!! :o

GilbonzoTheSecretPsychoDuck · 31/07/2011 17:15

Blimey Forever! I'd rather only eat 200 cals and enjoy them than 2000 of purely healthy food. I'm losing weight steadily now and still enjoying treats - which in my case are a few maltesers or a piece of toast. I like enjoying things too much Grin

foreverondiet · 31/07/2011 17:33

To be fair, the things she really hates are artificial sweetners, processed foods etc. ie things that are not actually that nice. Indulged in some homemade bramble ice cream today. Also I think need to do it 80:20 rather than 100% or would feel very deprived.

I've had a pretty horrific week eating wise - my worst incident probably being eating a load of pick 'n mix at the cinema in lieu of dinner on Fri night (haven't been to the cinema in aaaages - in laws were visiting so had in house babysitters!). I did however complete my 10 mile race today which I'd been training for and was happy to run faster than I'd expected (although still pretty slow...) Even managed to enjoy it Grin

I really am going to pull my finger out and eat properly as of tomorrow once I've scoffed all the chocolate in the house tonight. I also need a new exercise challenge to keep me going - I may start the 30 day shred tomorrow if I can walk.

foreverondiet · 31/07/2011 21:39

wifezillabetter that the pick in mix was in lieu of dinner rather as well as dinner. And a 10 mile run would use up 1000 calories!

I am about to start Ripped in 30! 30 Day Shred is fab.

OP posts:
Wifezilla · 31/07/2011 21:44

Forever it would have been as well as but I didn't have time to eat it before leaving home!

I've had 30 day shred for a while and have used it regularly but not for 30 days in a row. I like it too and also have a few other Jillian DVDs (after reading suggestions on Mumsnet & MFP) but I don't think I have Ripped in 30. Hope you enjoy it - let us know how it compares to the others....

magicalrealistmum · 31/07/2011 21:50

Hi all,
its been a hectic week but I started a running programme last Sunday and so far I have managed to get out every other am. I had lost 3lb on Mondays weigh in but it didn't show up as I am still 0.1lb over my mfp starting weight Blush.
This weekend I have been at a 2 day wedding celebration which was fab and great to see lots of old friends, but not so great for low cal food. We are off for a few days to Bath tomorrow with the family, I am bringing my running shoes and swimming costume and am hopeful of some opportunities to burn off the wedding cake etc. Inspired by all the exercise you are all doing

tinker316 · 01/08/2011 07:34

I have had a shocker of a weekend- food wise Blush
Had a Indian takeaway & half a bottle of vino Saturday, then half a large dominos pizza & couple beers last night Blush
I seem 2 do really well during the week, but always slip up at the weekend Angry
But I'm not having anymore take outs 4 a long time nowWink
Back on the shred later & healthy eating Smile
Every1 sounds they r doing great- well done ladies Smile

foreverondiet · 01/08/2011 07:48

Tinker - cheating at the weekend is fine for maintaining weight, but I never really lost when I did significant cheating at weekends. Need to plan better and decide what you will have. Weekend also a good time to do extra exercise.

IMO Indian takeaway (if you choose sensibly, eg meat and veggie based dishes and some rice) not quite a bad as pizza or beer. I can't even remember the last time I had a takeaway, I just don't fancy anymore.

Huffpot · 01/08/2011 07:53

Hi, I'm on MFP but am terribly slack at logging so perhaps this will give me some motivation!
I am going on holiday in a couple of weeks so dread to think of food consumption then but will give it a shot!
My name on there is Huffpot so feel free to add!!

tinker316 · 01/08/2011 08:03

I'm just leaving the past weekend as a setback- not going 2 happen again!!
Was just exhausted from work & not feeling great- so couldn't be assed 2 cook basically Blush
But will be more prepared now Smile
Just got a stone 2 go now Smile

febes · 01/08/2011 08:39

HI all can I jump in?
I have joined MFP a few days ago as I was stalling in my weight loss the past few weeks. I have lost 4lbs since joining MFP Grin result!
I have lost 28kgs(over 4st) so far doing Idiot Proof Diet (low carb) and lots of Jillian Michaels. I started with 30day shred then 6W6W and now no more trouble zones and burn fat boost metabolism. I also have Ripped in 30!! I'm an addict. I want to lose another 17-19 kgs. That will take me down to the top end of a healthy weight range. I'm 15st(95kgs) at the moment and 5'11''
I will request you guys on MFP so look out for me. I'm Kiwifebes on there.

MFP tells me I'm supposed to have 1800cals per day plus my exercise cals but due to low carbing I eat about 1200 a day. The reason I was stalling is because I was eating bloody dark choc which is 'allowed' in small doses on IPD but I was going overboard so its great to see what exactly is going in my body each day. I love how it tells you @if everyday was like today you will weigh XXXX in 5 weeks. Its so motivating!

foreverondiet · 01/08/2011 09:29

Welcome huffpot and febes!

I will add you on MFP.

I also love dark chocolate but I think needs to be one square a day really otherwise the sugar and carbs soon mount up.

febes well done on your weight loss so far!

I also love JM! I just started Ripped In 30, and I thought the first week (just done one) was great. I'm at my target weight but am trying to get body fat a little lower, look more toned and get ready for my duathlon.

tinker316 · 01/08/2011 09:48

febes u have done great-well done!!
You have got me all motivated Smile
Im a devil when it comes to carbs Blush
Going 2 try really hard 2 cut down- especially after my disastrous weekend Sad

redderthanred · 01/08/2011 13:16

hi all.
thought id check in and let you all know im still very much alive and still losing weight!
woohoo - go me.

Ive not weighed myself for ages, about 2 months, and dont really want to get on the scales again... BUT im wearing new clothes in another size down ( thats two dress sizes lost.. and approx just over 2 stones)

AND
Ive had my finally had my ' my godness, have you lost weight' comment. First one, and it was from my ( female) boss this morning. Her jaw hit the floor when i said i had and it was about 2 stone.

yay!!

So - to all those that have just started, or have fallen off the wagon. Just keep going. It doesnt matter if you have a bad day, just make sure you start again.. keep going and you will get there.

Wifezilla · 01/08/2011 14:00

Well done Redderthanred - and thanks for the motivation, I certainly need it at the moment :)

Febes - well done on your amazing weight loss too!

foreverondiet · 01/08/2011 15:12

well done red and lovely that your boss noticed. I think I also lost nearly 2 stone and wearing new smaller clothes before anyone noticed.

And yes you are right about falling off the wagon, can always start again. Weight loss is about lots of small good decisions.

What works for me is Paul McKenna, esp if I don't want to wait until the next day. I listen to the track, and then I really don't eat anything until I am actually hungry again.

And I am making progress with myself; I can now eat a handful of nuts without eating too many, or can eat a couple of (small) biscuits without eating 10.

richardarmitageismine · 01/08/2011 15:51

Hi can I join?
Have been using MFP for a couple of weeks, and I had a really good start and lost just under 5 lbs in the first week, but last week I was away, and was ok, but drinking half a bottle a glass of wine every night. Have'nt dared weigh myself since Hmm. Trying to get back on the wagon today, and reading this thread has really helped.
One thing I decided on holiday though, after being in a swimsuit all day was not only would I like to lose weight but also really tone up, and I don't know where to start, as I have really fallen off the exercise wagon... any tips would be gratefully received Smile.

richardarmitageismine · 01/08/2011 16:33

I have told dh that he has to be back from work on time tonight, as I'm off to the gym to do a conditioning class - that's going to be a shock to the system. What I really dislike are my thighs and bum, does anyone know what the best exercise for toning these up is? (please don't say running....).

ezzie21 · 01/08/2011 18:15

ive lost loads of inches from bum/thighs just from walking

a good stomping walk up hill across some fields for 60 minutes every sodding day, has resulted in a drop in jeans size!
