Hmm, moving.

Peanut butter is probably one of those things that you should always measure. I always assumed a tablespoon would equal 15g, and I figured that was what I put on a slice of bread.

Turns out I was slathering on closer to 24g! Shock

Considering it's so calorific, that was some miscalculation!

RGPargy · 30/01/2012 21:21

Isn't 5g one teaspoon?? If it doubt, MEASURE MEASURE MEASURE!! Wink

Hello everyone! Back on the exercise and good eating with a vengeance now. I've been to the gym twice today - pump in the morning and i've just done step. Calorie-wise, i've been really good and haven't eaten all my calories or any of my exercise calories. I'm really feeling it now. Very fed up with eating crap and feeling lazy for it. Have a look at my diary on MFP if you like - it's been squeaky clean today!!

Bit of a rest day tomorrow - just balance at 6pm lol.

Hope everyone is doing ok.

Pippil - deffo log everything, even if you are logging in advance for the entire day. Deffo agree about snacking every couple of hours to keep your blood sugar levels even. Seeds are great for snacking on for me. If you're only being bad when no one can see you then you are only being bad to yourself and are self sabotaging for some reason. Perhaps you could try and figure out why you might be stopping your own weight loss? Is there something you are afraid of when you are slim? Good luck - you can do it with all our help and support! :o

movingonwardsorsidewards · 30/01/2012 21:28

mychild - wow thats shocking, i will weigh it tomorrow.

RGP - that is alot of exercise, do you normally do that much? very impressive...

PippiL · 30/01/2012 21:33

I think I am just inherently lazy. I hate being this way though.

Exercise is hard as I have a trick ankle, and am having an op on my knee in feb.

Seeing the MRI scan of my leg was an awful shock though, soooo much grey blubber around the bones :-( trying to use that to kick start myself.

RGPargy · 30/01/2012 21:52

Moving - Yes that's pretty normal for me, although lately due to DH's fitness comittments and DD's ballet/disco class, i've been losing out on two classes a week so i'm trying to catch up along the way now. On a good week, i will go 5 times a week and will do 2 classes back to back on 3 of those days.

PippiL - If seeing your leg has affected you that much, you must use it as a positive and let it be the start of a new you. Does that make sense?

ditavonteesed · 31/01/2012 07:54

I lg absolutly everything, as well as doing mfp I am also doing weight watchers, so I work out how many calories and how many points I have. I have lost another pound today way hay, am so chuffed, I am trying to increase and measure my walking, got a pedometer lastw ekk and I am doing about 8 miles a day, want to up it to 10 but struggling to find the time. like running for a lot of people wlaking is what clear my head, I could walk all day and if I am fed up it just makes me feel happy and energetic.

mrswoodentop · 31/01/2012 08:01

Dita well done, you sound do enthused I hope it's catching!I weighed last night at SW and lost 2pounds this weekGrin.Although I am doing SWIts the logging on MFP that is making the difference I think

ditavonteesed · 31/01/2012 08:16

well done :) I think because I am helping the leader at ww it really helps as I cant just have a bad week and not go, and if I have to go I want to have lost, and I suppose 'staff' should be losing or it wouldnt look to good. am eternally gratefull to the leader for doing this for me.

JoJoBaldwin · 31/01/2012 19:49

Hi, just started using MFP this week alongside weightwatchers, but forsee dropping the ww in favour of MFP. It just seems easier!

My MFP name is same as this one: JoJoBaldwin, currently 168 pounds. Will make my WI date a friday!

bucketbetty · 31/01/2012 20:06

I don't want to count my chickens but I've only gone and lost two bloody pounds. Grin hooray!!!!!

I went out for a run tonight but wet myself 10 minutes into it and had to come home - WTF - I do have a bit of 'spillage' when I exercise (something to do with lack of estregeon (don't know how to spell it) I'm going through early menopause (at 37). I'm seriously pee'd oaf but hey I had an understanding jogging partner and I'll invest in some tenna lady and do the toilet before I go out tomorrow night. I'll also cycle to and from work tomorrow to make up for it. I had a massive bowl of pasta tonight and loads of marshmallows (I needed sugar), so I feel really guilty and I've probably put on that 2 pounds I lost. Grin I'll keep you posted. Anyone else got bladder problems going on? Not really the point of this thread but it would be nice to know I'm not alone.

jchocchip · 31/01/2012 20:50

That's interesting. I've had to dash in for a pee more than once but put it down to drinking more as I'm logging water. I have recently started tamoxifen though which blocks oestrogen.

jchocchip · 31/01/2012 20:58

Hi jojo I'll add you! My mfp name is the same as on here too.

foreverondiet · 31/01/2012 21:34

bucketbetty I haven't posted for a while but wanted to post and say, take your thyroid medication - first thing each morning on empty stomach.

I was diagnosed in 2002 and have taken medication every day since then. My thyroid levels are normal (I take 100mcg a day but it took a while to get the levels right, TSH should be around 1-2) - and I don't think the fact I have an underactive thyroid affects my weight.

I also have pcos - so I respond well to a low GI or low carb diet.

Hi everyone :)

Had a hard day today and have been trying really hard not to snack on carby comfort foods. I resisted and can happily report that i didn't cheat at all. Phew!!

Weighed myself again this morning and i've lost 2lbs over night although i am not taking the new weight as gospel. Monday will be my weigh day so my true weight will be on Monday.

Hello and welcome to any newbies. Feel free to add me - same name as here. :o

RGPargy · 31/01/2012 22:36

Good to see you on here again forever :o

bucketbetty · 31/01/2012 22:39

Thanks forever. I'm only on 25mcg and I felt great when I first took it but feel I need it reviewed. I'll make an appointment to see the doctor for a review soon.

saynothing · 31/01/2012 22:51

Hi all, havent been on here in a while but still doing MFP religiously, have added some of the newcomers, if ive missed anyone feel free to add me- inspireme123.

Doing a sponsored slim at the minute which has messed me up tbh, lost 5lbs first week then put on 3 then lost 3, but normally i would loose 1-2lbs a week and never put any on again. So would rather do it the slow and steady way.

Have 4lb to go to to pre preg weight, but have adjusted goal weight as I always wanted to loose half a stone before. I realise that would be too much now so hoping to loose another 4 pounds or so after reaching pre preg weight. Has anyone adjusted goal weight after getting close to it??

foreverondiet · 31/01/2012 23:00

bucketbetty I started on 25mcg but ended up needing 100mcg. Important to get it checked every 6-8 weeks until its stable, so hang in there. I have now been on same dose for 7+ years.

Ideally TSH should be 1-2, and get it checked in the morning (as TSH naturally lower in afternoon so pm blood test more likely to end up being under-medicated).

I always get it checked first thing and on that day I don't take the medication until after the test (normally take first thing before food).

GPs often look at "normal" reference range of TSH up to 4.5 but do not accept this as normal - normal in people without underactive thyroid is 1-2 and thats where you want it to feel best. Ask to see specialist, even if there is a wait for an appointment.

I have lost 6llb in January with mfp. I have just done the second run in the C25K program and I am feeling good. I still have 20llb to loose to get to pre preg weight (preg was ten years ago so it is time I got over it!). I hope I can keep this up.

trice · 01/02/2012 12:18

I forgot to say - I am triceclover on mfp if you want to add me.

JoJoBaldwin · 01/02/2012 16:29

Thanks to those who have added me on MFP, it's nice to see other's progress and have a snoop at the food diaries, some yummy ideas on there!

Had sneaky WI as I was feeling thin lol - gym scales said I had lost 6lb since monday! Think they must be malfunctioning lol but have a spring in my step anyway. Official WI day is going to be friday so we'll see.

cuissesdetonnerre · 01/02/2012 17:18

I am really inspired by seeing all the success stories, and am finding logging every mouthful educational, shocking and very helpful! Thanks to everyone who has accepted my friend request - anyone else welcome to add me too (same name).

Well done on all the success so far, you are all inspiring.

bucketbetty · 01/02/2012 18:49

I've cancelled my run tonight because its freezing. I'm planning some trampetting and ironing to fend off the guilt

RGPargy · 01/02/2012 22:18

Went to the gym today and did pump and step, despite feeling a bit ropey as i have a cold coming. When you tell people you have a cold coming it always sounds a bit feeble doesn't it but with me it just saps my energy until it fully comes out! It was hard today but hey, at least i did it. Starting to ache now but that probably also has something to do with doing pump on monday morning, step on monday night, balance last night and step and pump back to back today lol.

Please feel free to add me if you haven't already. Same name as here! :o

Keep up the good work everyone! :o

bexsybooboo · 02/02/2012 06:52

Waves at Forever was nice to see your post Smile

RGPARGY Am with you on the cold thing I dread getting them as that's me down and out for up to 3 weeks and proper drained.

Went for my Wednesday run with friend from work and it was a great run. I so needed it. Work is totally awful at the moment and very stressful and we went out and punded the pavements. Managed to do my first mile in 9 minutes!!!!! Grin me 9 minute mile !!!!

But came home let myself down by having a couple of vodkas and caramel chocolate and I know it was a comfort thing due to the working day I had. Hoping this wont affect WI day tomorrow too much as was on track for a good week one of the best i've had since christmas. Felt like I was getting right back in to it Sad

Welcome everyone nice to see so many of us, this thread and MFP proving a right success Smile. My username on MFP is Bexsy feel free to add me.
