travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 07:04

I can no longer kid myself that I am just curvy and happy about it .

I am happy at a small size 14 and I am now a large size 16 .

Does anybody want to join me in some mutual arse kicking to keep on track ?

My plan is to just eat less and move more .

I have tried low carbing in the past and it did work but I just couldn't keep it up for long .

I have also done ww before which did work longer term but I can't get to my local meetings anymore .

Please feel free to join in and tell me to stop eating rubbish and being a lazy sod .

morning everyone, im feeling positive this morning too! I was really good last night and even though i caved and had something to eat last night because i was sooooooooooooooooo hungry, instead of reaching for biscuits and crisps i had a slice off ww toast with marmite! I need to stop weighing myself, hopped on scales this morning and have lost 1 lb since yesterday, but now not going to weigh myself til next wednesday as i find i become obsessed hopping on and off through the day.
I'm also not going to tell anyone in RL as i find it harder in social situations if people know im dieting IYSWIM?
Im cancelling my ww subscription too. i Dont think either ww or sw is teaching me healthy eating habits. So pushing onward with eating less, making sensible choices and moving my fat arse more!

messybessie · 22/06/2011 11:00

Morning. So far today I'm doing well.

Had chicken salad last night with a small piece of really nice bread. Did have a chocolate digestive afterwards but built it into my points and reassured myself that normally I would have eaten about 5!

Really hungry today though, despite having porridge for breakfast and a crumpet (with nothing on it) around 9:30.

DS2 woke up at 5:15 this morning so I'm shattered - which is normally my trigger for reaching for the bourbon biscuits. Must resist!

tinker316 · 22/06/2011 11:33

I have been good this morning , so far so good...!! Had bowl of bran flakes for brekkie- even tho I was tempted 2 have a cheeky slice of cake Blush but I did not cave in Smile

Joby1970 · 22/06/2011 13:08

FOUNDWANTING - are you exercising?

whyme2 · 22/06/2011 13:44

lydia you sound very sensible. I know for myself I have to make the right choices everyday. I am also prone to scale hopping so have put them away until Mon now.

Well done tinker no cake for breakfast is a good choiceGrin

messy I started the day at 5 am and it really doesn't help with the trying not to snack thing does it? Stay strong.

I am doing okay. Had my shake for breakfast (sorry cybil Grin) and a ham sandwich and low fat yoghurt for lunch. Have also walked about 4 miles this morning. So good all round. I need to prise myself off the settee now, tidy, put clothes away and clean the bathroom before 3pm

travellingwilbury · 22/06/2011 15:50

How is everyone doing ?

This is my dodgy time of day , too early for tea but it has been a while since lunch .

Ryvita anyone ?

Well , my 30 day shred DVD has arrived!!
Will attempt 2 try it when DD has settled!! Smile

whyme2 · 22/06/2011 17:28

ooh tinker have you tried the shred yet? Are you still alive able to move?

I have not been brave enough to try it yet. Sticking with Rosemary, she is more gentle with me. Grin

lydiathetattooedlady · 22/06/2011 18:48

hey, not doing too bad to day...i think?! Does this sound like an alright day?
breakfast: poached egg on 1x ww bread
Lunch: 4 low fat crackers with 2x laughing cow light triangles.
Dinner: Portion of pasta bake with very large side salad with 1x tablespoon of homemade coleslaw and homemade potato salad

naughties: some of the kids pick 'n' mix, was actually very restrained as i could usually snaffle the whole bag!

I know there's not any fruit in there but ive got a bit of a phobia about it and it just has to go near my mouth to start me retching. Also cant drink juice with lumps in, fruit yoghurts or smoothies as i ended up retching! Thankfully my children dont follow in my footsteps and love fruit! Does anyone know how i can get over this? Its my evil step mothers fault, my sisters are the same Sad

exercise wise have done a shed loads of walking today?

How is everyone else getting on?
tinker have you shredded yet?
whyme2 my day started at about 5.30, DS will just not sleep in im pooped!

tinker316 · 22/06/2011 18:53

I have not tried the 'shred' yet Blush DD is still up Wink
I will def attempt to try it some point 2night- then will let u girls know how good/bad I got on!lol!!

tibni · 22/06/2011 20:39

My day started at 4.30am when ds (severe ASD) woke up bouncing! Had my long day at work, 9am-7.30pm, so I am shattered. But I have done ok with food so am pleased with that.

I am on a late start tomorrow so will try and fit a gym session in.

Well done everyone; the first few days are always tough trying to re-adjust habits.

tinker316 · 22/06/2011 21:01

Well I had a go Smile
Even tho it was only 15mins- as DP came in with dinner!!
It sure made my heart rate go up Wink
But I am going 2 do it every day as something is better than nothing Smile
Was wondering how many days do u stay on level 1??

dairyleadunker · 22/06/2011 21:34

Hi ... Have I left it too late to join?

I desperately need your help and support as I have gone from a size 6/8 pre dc to a size 12/14 nowSad

I am 5ft and weigh 10st 10 have dd 7mo and ds 5yr. I was lighter when pregnant than I am now. Despite breastfeeding both weight has not shifted have been member of gym for couple of years but will quite happily reachfor biscuits instead of going once kids are in bed.
Biscuits, sandwiches and posh coffees and cakes are my weakness.
Can anyone help ?

Ps well done so far !!!

FoundWanting · 22/06/2011 21:47

Joby I don't do any formal exercise, running or gym or anything, because I have an aversion to trainers. But I am very active and have even shredded from time to time. Grin

Feel better after this morning's rant. I think I just needed to vent. Blush

Had a pretty good day, even managed to avoid the food trap that is after-school in this house. Going to have an early night as being tired makes me crave carbs all day.

messybessie · 22/06/2011 21:49

Done well today, and just had my reward chocolate digestive in front of The Apprentice.

Had so many vegetables though I think my colon is on ribbons.

Am in London tomorrow so will have to steer clear of Costa Coffee.

Amaxapax · 22/06/2011 23:31

Sorry to butt in, but I wonder if I can make what might be a helpful suggestion for some of you? I lost about three stone on WW and have kept it off for about a year. I was very pleased I initially, but have since decided that I'm not happy with the little pot belly I've developed. Some research has shown that getting rid of refined carbs should sort that, so I'm giving it a try. And actually, I've decided to take it a step further and cut out all sugar, grains and most processed foods. I've also upped my fat intake. I know this is counter-intuitive, but there's a lot of research that greater consumption of fats helps with satiety. Also, since your body will always burn carbs first, if you don't eat them, you force the body to burn fat.
I haven't been doing this long, but I've found I'm eating about the same number of calories, but I feel much more satisfied. For breakfast I had Greek yoghurt with blueberries and a crustless quiche with bacon, courgette, Feta, carrots and pepper. Lunch was a big salad with tomatoes, cucumber, carrots, avocado, tuna, a little bit of Feta and a hard-boiled egg. Dinner was grilled salmon drizzled with butter and spinach and courgettes sautéed in butter with some prawns. Snacks were a bowl of mixed berries and a few almonds and macadamia nuts. I also went for a two mile run. I feel awesome. My calories are at about 1600 and I'm not hungry at all. Best of all, I've lost a few pounds and my trousers are looser!
I know this goes against everything we are taught about healthy eating, but I've read loads about eating like this and I really think it's something I can do long term. If you're interested, Google the paleo diet or the primal blueprint. It's not for everyone, obviously, but eating like this makes me want to be strong and healthy. I went out for dinner on Sunday and had a steak and salad and didn't even crave chips. I have a box of Maltesers sitting downstairs and I just don't even fancy them. I feel so in control.

Anyway, very sorry for rambling. Just something to think about.

whyme2 · 23/06/2011 06:37

lydia you meals sound fine to me. You know what your body can cope with. There is no point trying to eat something that will cause you that much upset at the moment.

amaxapax I understand what you saying. tbh something like that wouldn't work for me because I find it easier to eat the everyday stuff that dh and the kids eat. I haven't got loads of time or money to prepare something different for myself. I thought about joining ww or sw but I think it would complicate things for me. I need to work out a system which fits into my everyday life so I can do it for the long term. Obviously I have been eating too much and eating junk otherwise I wouldn't be so big now.

Today is more walking and an exercise dvd hopefully. I am feeling more in control now. I think I realised I could get through the 4 o'clock snack with an apple and not pick whilst I was cooking so I am definitely feeling more in control.

travellingwilbury · 23/06/2011 06:43

Morning

Well I am a bit gutted , got on the scales as it has been a couple of days and I thought it would do me good to see at least a pound off . But I have put a bloody pound on Shock

I really don't know how but it has made me more determined not less which is good I suppose .

So the plan today is more moving and even less eating .

Well done on doing the shred tinker , I am going to order the zumba for wii fit and start doing that when I get in from work .

Welcome dairylead the more the merrier .

amaxapax I have done a diet like that before but like whyme I can't sustain it and the first time you eat bread or rice again it all just appears over night (for me) I need to do something that works forever and that just wouldn't .

Good luck everyone for today .

Morning!!
My thighs are slightly tingling after my 1st go on the shred Wink
Must b a good thing??!!
Will try & give it another go 2day- got a night shift later Sad so I will c how I feel!! As I feel tired ready! Lol!!

tibni · 23/06/2011 08:29

travellingwilbury - good on you for the increased determination. I think the scales are only ever a guide, for me I tend to look in the mirror, see how clothes fit and also judge on how I am feeling. When I eat well and exercise I feel so much better in myself - I wish I could work out why I go back to eating crap. Actually I know, pure laziness and not making time for myself to prepare decent.

I am going to brave the gym scales today, I would love to see a slight loss but not sure I will.

messybessie · 23/06/2011 08:31

I've thought about the whole no carbs thing but I'm such a carb junkie, I wouldn't be able to sustain it.

I like WW online because even if I do eat something I shouldn't, I can just build it in and move on. Not think 'Fuck it, I may as well finish the packet and start again tomorrow' which I have been guilty of in the past.

Yesterday my friend gave me some soup she'd made and I ate that whilst DC's had their tea. Virtually no points and stopped me picking at their pasta or having half a malt loaf Blush.

I'm taking my toddler for his 2 year check next week. I'm interested to see what he weighs because he's bloody heavy but I suspect that's not far off the amount I need to lose. Shock

Onwards and upwards (or should that be downwards)

messybessie · 23/06/2011 08:32

Wilbury, I think that's why they recommend only weighing in once a week as your weight can fluctuate.

It might be that you just need a really good poo Wink

FoundWanting · 23/06/2011 09:34

Can anyone tell me what I should eat tonight? I'm going out with a group of mums from school for drinks and a curry. Not the best start to a diet, I'll admit. but there must be 'less bad' options in the average Indian restaurant.

Any top tips?

whyme2 · 23/06/2011 10:07

That's why I like the food focus website. You just log everything you've eaten and you can see the calories stack up. You also log your exercise and then see how much it has contributed to your calorie allowance. I try and log everything I eat so at the end of the day I can see how much weight I've lost and this seems to discourage a suppertime snack Grin
It is a real eye opener seeing how many calories are added by putting a scraping of marge on your bread for example.

messybessie · 23/06/2011 10:41

I have just had a breakfast meeting (also had porridge at 7am). I left the croissant they brought me untouched. I turned down pancakes.

I had melon and fat free yoghurt.

Feel free to applaud.

Now have to negotiate lunch meeting!
