I can no longer kid myself that I am just curvy and happy about it .

I am happy at a small size 14 and I am now a large size 16 .

Does anybody want to join me in some mutual arse kicking to keep on track ?

My plan is to just eat less and move more .

I have tried low carbing in the past and it did work but I just couldn't keep it up for long .

I have also done ww before which did work longer term but I can't get to my local meetings anymore .

Please feel free to join in and tell me to stop eating rubbish and being a lazy sod .

Its not that bad, in that it is only 20 minutes. longer than that and i think id die. I have been tempted to turn it off about 10 minutes in once or twice as ive just been pooped but once you get half way through its not too bad! I think because i dont have the strongest pelvic floor it puts me off more! will try the gym ball...not sure on swimming as im not a good swimmer. My dad who is an excellent swimmer once described me as looking like a drowning fish when swimming Confused

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 12:52

zlaya But I am also rubbish at the swimming thing . I like swimming with the children , I can lie around and float in the water . Much more fun Grin

excuses excuses I know .

Were you pretty fit already lydia ? I am seriously thinking about it .

OP posts:
zlaya · 21/06/2011 12:56

I am not excellent swimmer by no definition, but I did menage to shake inhibitions about it, I just don't care how look like and also helpful tip; it is always much more enjoyable to exercise in group setting, for example; swimming three times a week, 30 min, it goes really fast and ball twice a day, crunches you do really fast and that's you done, you did a world of good for your heart and body.

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 13:00

I think this is where I need my biggest kick really . The exercise thing , my diet is pretty good on the whole but I do eat rubbish when bored . So I suppose the answer is when I am bored I should do some moving about stuff .

I think I have got a ball somewhere .

OP posts:
zlaya · 21/06/2011 13:05

You go find that ball and start crunching, you will have that body for other to envyEnvy in no time.Wink

lydiathetattooedlady · 21/06/2011 13:08

sort of! i danced until i went to uni...swapped dancing for drinking and takeaways by 24 i was pushing 13 stone! I actually lost 2 stone through my first pregnancy as me and dh stopped acting like students and drinking everynight! i just want to be thin! Exercise for me has to be in the eveings as i work full time but dh also works nights so i need to exercise at home really!

zlaya · 21/06/2011 13:16

your goal is to get that dancers body back, whatever it takes, when you look it that way it makes more sense, have friend who danced and still does but, when she can't make her regular class, she turns "smash hits " on with four or five video hits she dances and exercise enjoyably but effectively.

TooImmature2BMum · 21/06/2011 13:27

The Dukan Diet is a 'diet for life' plan. There's a support thread on here somewhere. Basicaly, you do 4 diets back to back.

Phase 1 is Attack - eat nothing but lean protein and fat free dairy products, plus 1.5 tbsps oat bran per day, and lose heaps of weight as a kick start. You are supposed to do it for between 1 and 10 days depending on how much weight you have to lose, so I am aiming for 5 days.

Phase 2 is Cruise - alternating a day of Attack with a day where you get to add non-starchy veg to the above. Portions aren't limited at all, so you can eat as much of those things as you like, and you do this until you are at your target weight.

Then you start Consolidation and do that for 5 days for every pound you lost. You get to add in things like bread, potatoes, pasta and cheese etc during Consolidation, plus getting 2 celebration meals a week where you can eat anything you like. Phase 4 is the 'diet for life' part - basically, you eat what you like so long as you do Protein Thursdays (ie, Attack Thursdays), and that'll keep your weight under control.

I am on Day 2 of Attack and I've lost 2lbs since yesterday morning - hurray! I also feel very full right now because I found a shop that sold oat bran and scoffed my allowance. I have no idea yet if it will work in the long term, but I am liking a diet that makes me shed pounds so fast. Fingers crossed for being under 11 stone tomorrow!

NoelEdmondshair · 21/06/2011 13:48

I'll join in if I may.

Started WW plan yesterday and my body has gone into some kind of shock at being deprived of chocolate and biscuits. My friend reckons this will last 3 days, is she right?

Rugbylovingmum · 21/06/2011 14:16

Hi, can I join please. I am a very hefty size 18 and want to be a comfortable 14 or even a 12 for the first time in years. I'm also aiming to just eat less and move more - as soon as I even think the word DIET I can't stop eating. I am fed up of feeling uncomfortable, lethargic and self conscious so here's the plan:

  1. Start serving up my meals on DDs plates as my portions are HUGE atm, I'm making the fatal mistake of keeping up with DPs portions but he is 6'4 and I am a foot smaller.
  1. I have joined our local council gym and dusted off my Davina dvds. I also have some zumba dvds I want to try. So with all that I'm aiming for 30 min, 5x a week minimum.
  1. I now have a sealed jar on the mantlepiece and I am going to stick in a tenner for every pound I lose (DP has promised to help with that Grin) and when I get to a size 14 I'm going to go on a lovely shopping spree Grin. I hardly ever buy new clothes so this will be a real treat.

So please nag away, I really want this to work but I know I find it hard to keep the healthy eating thing going after the first week.

Weigh in - 14st 2lb Blush
My long term goal is 10st but I'm aiming for 13st to start with - seems more manageable.

zlaya · 21/06/2011 14:19

Good luck, Rugbylovingmum, you can do it.

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 14:23

Good luck everyone , I may even do a weigh in myself tomorrow . I have been a bit scared to get on the scales up to now . But I need to know the pounds are coming off to keep me motivated .

OP posts:
FoundWanting · 21/06/2011 14:34

Oh, have we got to weigh in? That's putting me off already.

Will drag out the wii tomorrow and see my little mii figure's stomach burst out of her t-shirt.

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 14:41

No of course you don't have to FW . My mii figure looks like a right little fatty . Everyone else's is all lean and lovely . Even that makes me depressed .

I will get there .

My boys are going to think I have gone mad when I want to play on the wii all the time .

Do you have any other things on it other than the wii fit plus ?

OP posts:
fearnelinen · 21/06/2011 14:46

I have Zumba for the Wii. It's amazing - really gets a sweat going and is a proper laugh, even though you're on your own!

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 14:55

I will have a look for that then . Think I might get a bit bored with just the wii fit every day .

OP posts:
FoundWanting · 21/06/2011 16:03

We've got a Raving Rabbids game. Grin You have to sit on the board and snow-board down a mountain.

Just Dance is also excellent for working up a sweat.

whyme2 · 21/06/2011 16:41

Just wondering to myself when I can fit some exercise in. I am sahm but dh works long hours. I have the shred and used it about 18 months ago when I was 2 stone lighter. I am slightly fearful of being too heavy to do it now and might end up killing myself by accident Grin I also have a couple of rosemary conley dvds - she is much gentler on the body. the dcs all want to join in when I try and I trip over themand my front room is not big enough.
I have a nearly 3 year old so fast walks are out of the question too.

Any suggestions people?

WorzselMummage · 21/06/2011 16:46

I'm in. I've just realised I'm a fatty. I'm 12 stone and 5'4".. I couldn't do up a pair of size 14 shorts yesterday and my gut is quite repulsive And I've got proper love handles :(

It starts tomorrow for me.

Good luck everyone x

fearnelinen · 21/06/2011 16:48

Right, I am stuffing all the birthday cak e in today and starting tomorrow. Just booked a nice active weekend at Centre Parcs and am ready to rock and roll. I shall weigh in tomorrow.

I've seen on here before where someone keeps a running total of weight lost for everyone. I'm happy to volunteer if you want?

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 17:11

whyme Can you be bothered to do it in the evening ? I know I would struggle doing it that late but it could be a plan .

You need two tvs , one with your dvd on and one with the magical cbeebies on .

I work art time so I normally get an hour or so before having to pick up from school , so I think I will be able to fit it in then . Tbh I have made so many excuses over the last couple of years I just know I have to find the time .
I am fed up moaning about it to myself and looking in the wardrobe and seeing loads of clothes I can't wear any more .

OP posts:
whyme2 · 21/06/2011 17:33

travelling I too am sick of seeing my favourite clothes lovingly awaiting my return. I know I have to get moving. I used to be very fit even though overweight but now I just seem totally drained all the time. I am hoping an improved less crap diet will help.

This evening will depend what time dh comes home from work. I think I may be better trying to get it done in the morning before the dcs get up. Will try and report back so you can either cheer me on or kick me into action. Grin

travellingwilbury · 21/06/2011 17:41

Morning would be the best time really , then you can forget about it for the rest of the day . My two get up about 6 so I forget that other people have normal human children that sleep in the morning .

We can give each other a kick whyme

I know I am going to need it . When I write it all done everything sounds so easy but .......

I am also not going to tell anybody out there in that rl world . The amount of times I have waffled on about how I am really going to do it this time and then failed is depressing .

So this time I am going to keep quiet and wait .

OP posts:
FoundWanting · 21/06/2011 18:12

Smoked mackerel salad for supper tonight. What a good girl. Grin

Then I'm going to put a face mask on and paint my nails, so I can neither pick any food up, nor put it in my mouth.

How's that for a plan?

messybessie · 21/06/2011 18:41

Brilliant! I managed to sit through DSs' dinner, sneak 1 potato wedge and then PUT THE REST IN THE BIN.

Am now starving and will be at least 2 hours before I eat.

An apple has not done the trick. Am starving.
