I can no longer kid myself that I am just curvy and happy about it .

I am happy at a small size 14 and I am now a large size 16 .

Does anybody want to join me in some mutual arse kicking to keep on track ?

My plan is to just eat less and move more .

I have tried low carbing in the past and it did work but I just couldn't keep it up for long .

I have also done ww before which did work longer term but I can't get to my local meetings anymore .

Please feel free to join in and tell me to stop eating rubbish and being a lazy sod .

travellingwilbury Zumba cannot go on the list because it is dancing. And dancing should be fun. The gym is not. Grin

What shall I eat. Blush

travellingwilbury · 11/07/2011 06:42

Good morning all , I have weighed this morning and I have lost 4 pounds Grin

I am a very happy bunny , I managed much better this weekend and doing the zumba nonsense is making the difference I think . I am normally not very good at doing exercise so this lets me down when I try and lose weight .

I hope everyone has had a good weekend .

tinker You better have been thoroughly birthday spoiled .

I am out of the overweight range, 10 6 GrinGrinGrin

FoundWanting · 11/07/2011 09:56

Well done both of you.Grin

I will weigh in tomorrow, but I'm not looking forward to it. I'm still not sleeping and am struggling through the days in a fog. Sad DH took over kitchen duties this weekend - not healthy (but tasty).

Three weeks until our holiday....

wildstrawberryplace · 11/07/2011 09:56

Ok so I weighed myself this morning and I have tipped the scales at 13 stone. Bloody hell. I have never weighed that much apart from when I was pregnant.

Obviously this can't go on. So I'll join this thread if I may.

My problem is that I know all about nutrition, which diets work and why, but I just can't stick to any of them. I love cooking and I get annoyed and resentful that I can't just cook normally. But of course it's not really the cooking normally is it? I eat the healthy food I serve up to DH and the DC, but on top of that, I eat crap, and I often eat it secretly. It's the binge eating of extra foods like cake and chocolate that is the problem.

I might go to Slimming World tonight. Having to go and get weighed by someone else and have them keep a record of it is the only thing that has ever really worked for me in the past.

amothersplaceisinthewrong · 11/07/2011 09:58

Much as it is not in vogue as a diet strategy these days, I have found the only thing that works is to calorie count. All fad diets actually work because you eat less, not because of the faddy combinations imo anyway. So just eat less, move more.

travellingwilbury · 11/07/2011 10:18

yay Grin Well done potnoodle That must feel brilliant .

FW Not sleeping enough is the devils work , I really feel for you . I know that feeling of walking through a fog all day . I hope it improves for you .

wildstrawberry Welcome , I started this 3 weeks ago at 13.5 and I felt awful about it . I have lost 9 pounds in 3 weeks and I am feeling loads better about myself . I have got a way to go but it is so worth it .

amothersplace I have never calorie counted until this time and it is really working for me . I am using Myfitnesspal and it is helping me to keep track on things . The whole thing for me this time was just eat less and move more and so far so good .

tinker316 · 11/07/2011 11:23

I def recommend the My Fitness Pal app- has done wonders 4 me Smile
Never realised how many calories i was gorging on til I used it Blush

travellingwilbury · 11/07/2011 12:33

Me neither tinker , it has really made me think about what I am eating .

Fingers crossed I can keep it up .

I will get my fat arse back on this tomorrow...please send a firm boot to make contact with my backside!

travellingwilbury · 12/07/2011 20:13

Welcome back lydia Grin

A big old kick for you .

I think the hardest thing about this losing weight thing is finding the head space for it . I have got it atm but keeping it going is tough . I know for sure my time will come when I need a good old kick .

The exercise is really helping , it makes me crave rubbish a lot less and myfitnesspal is helping me as well . It has really surprised me how many calories some of the food I was eating before had in .

tortilla · 12/07/2011 20:25

Hello - can I come and join in? I am 3 weeks into a big health kick and it is so far working but I need as much motivation as possible to keep going.

I weighed just under 90kg just before I got pregnant with DD which was about 10kg heavier than when I got pregnant with DS which was still a bit on the heavy side for me... Anyway, this time round breastfeeding helped me lose weight without having to try. I stalled at 84kg when she was 7mo and started feeding much less. She's 9mo now and down to 3 feeds a day, so I'm now on a health kick to try to get under 80kg (immediate goal by end July) and then head towards 70kg which is when my BMI would be in the healthy range.

Now 81.4 so finally under the BMI of 30 and fitted into size 14 dresses this weekend when shopping :) I want to lose that 1.4kg in the next 2 weeks to get to my 80kg goal and then take it from there. It has been okay so far but I think support and idea-sharing would help loads...

My approach is being active on at least 5 days a week - at least 3 heavy aerobic type sessions (2 x kettlebells and 1 x exercise video) plus lots of walking, gardening etc. I'm not dieting but I have cut back on cake and chocolate to virtually nothing, and all my snacks are less than 150cals and I am eating healthy low-fat meals - so very little red meat, no cheese or cream etc.

FoundWanting · 12/07/2011 20:48

Lordy, what a day.

After 5 hours sleep I have been mostly craving toast today. DD had a cricket match after school and they were supposed to get back at 5.30pm. Ten past six they finally turned up. Got home to find DSs (and DH) almost faint with hunger Hmm and ended up doing beans on cheese on toast because they couldn't wait for a proper meal. So much for low carb.

On the plus side. I've done loads of walking and hoe-ing on the the allotment. Haven't weighed yet this week - maybe tomorrow...

travellingwilbury · 12/07/2011 20:57

Hiya tortilla , welcome Grin

It sounds like you are doing really well , the more the merrier on here . size 14 is actually what I would be really happy with . I feel good about myself at that size , I know to most that is on the larger size but I think it suits me .

FW I love beans on toast with cheese , mmmmm . Good look for weigh in tomorrow .

I am feeling pretty good atm , it will be keeping it up longer term when the weight loss slows down .

Not looking 4ward 2 weigh in this week!! But from 2m I will be back on track Smile

tinker316 · 14/07/2011 08:31

Is any1using the xbox kinnect 4 any fitness??

FoundWanting · 15/07/2011 09:43

tinker Hope you enjoyed your birthday and have managed to get back on track this week.

Don't know anything about xbox, I'm afraid, we are a PS3 household - well, DH and DS1 use it. The little ones and I stick to the wii.

I'm going to weigh-in today. Not looking forward to it because I have a had a dreadful week. Went to my best-friend's daughter's baby shower. Shock Way to make me feel old - she's 23, so not even a particularly young mum!

Anyway, food laid out looking like that tv programme (You Are What You Eat?) where everything is brown...sausage rolls, crisps, peanuts, chicken thingies with dipping sauce, about 6 types of bread, and so on... All topped off with the densest, richest chocolate cake in the world, ever.

Back in a bit.
