You lot! Over 'ere! Sorry for taking liberties with the previous thread: I am no good with suspense, and it was like looking at a gigantic throbbing pustulating boil and not being able to squeeze it

OP posts:
LakeFlyPie · 27/06/2011 20:28

Me too please!

Have finally got my head in the right place to shed the 2st I've managed to gain since pg with DS2 (who is now 7mo Blush).

Am motivated, weighed, have done Day 1 of food diary and need a thread to keep me inspired.

I've had success with SW prior to DS1, but have neither the time nor money for it ATM so am relying on regular posting here for the public shaming support the groups offered previously.

You lot seem a lot friendlier too Grin

kid · 27/06/2011 20:36

Hi newbies and welcome to sw.
I'm rubbish at remembering names and as i post mainly from my phone, I can't scroll back to check names!

I stuck to sw quite well fir 5 weeks with a few days here and there off and I managed to lose 1 stone in that time. I've since managed to put 1lb on as I'm clearly have more and more days off plan. But I aim to get back to it pronto. Today I've been good and only pinched 1 chocolate bourbon biscuit even though the biscuit tin gas been very close by all day!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 27/06/2011 21:37

Hello to lakeflypie, red and slinky..Welcome to our luverly 'fred. Lovely to have some new people....Wednesday is our Day of Doom (or weigh in day), people PM me their stats and I make a list. You can put as little as you want but you can scroll up to last DoD to see what people did!

Made the butterbean houmous and couscous recipe from SW mag, had it with some grilled chicken. It was pretty good, although I have horrible raw onion breath now. just as well DH is working late.

I am fearing DoD so much as my period has just come on..first one since DD 4 months ago. Urgh..hideous.
Its fecking hot too...its 28degrees in DD room. I;ve just eaten, cleaned kitchen, made bottles and I now have approx 25 min to relax before the next feed. God I'm tired!

Kid step away from the biscuits - if you eat one biscuit every day for 1 year you could gain 2 stone! (watching embarressing fat bodies as motivation)!
I want something sweet..ML yog it is then Sad

Oh and Bloof is alive and well - but up to her eyes in writing, poor her.

grinningbee · 27/06/2011 21:42

Kid Leave that biscuit tin alone!!!!! GrinGrin

Hello to SlinkyB and LakeFlyPie too.

I joined 4 weeks ago tomorrow as an online member, and have lost 1 stone in 3 weeks. Weigh in in the morning

Everyone here posts their results on a Wednesday - known as the Day of Doom (TM). You can post as little or as much as you like - I post my start weight, weight lost, current weight and total lost, but you don't have to put what you weigh, or even share a target. Weight lost (or gained!) and total weight lost is fine.

One lovely lady collects pm's from everyone and then posts a list at the end of the day.

That's probably clear as mud, but I'm sure someone else can explain it better.

grinningbee · 27/06/2011 21:43

Sorry x-posts with Cheese. I knew someone would be quicker typing than me Blush

grinningbee · 27/06/2011 21:44

I am watching again too - though ds is grizzling so much I can't bloody hear it!

Cheeseandbiscuits · 27/06/2011 21:49

Haha bee, aren't we organised! And fat bodies is pretty gross. I also can't bear Christian - he is so smug!

grinningbee · 27/06/2011 22:15

Dh said that last week. When he told that woman not to show off about how much sex she was having Shock!

It's been a good program though. Very eye opening, although I am so terrified of what I'll look like when the weight is gone.

Ds has been screaming now for over an hour. I am fed up. And dh is snoring his bloody head off on the sitting room floor Angry

LakeFlyPie · 27/06/2011 22:22

Thanks, that's sounds great, wondered what the DoD was about.

grinningbee - a stone in 3 weeks is fantastic - exactly the inspiration I need.

Looking forward to a peruse of fred when I've got a chance and will send in my vital stats on weds.

grinningbee · 27/06/2011 22:38

Ah, peace for a moment. If you can ignore dh's snoring that is... Ds had got so hysterical that he bit me but then fed to sleep.

Cheese Boo to the period coming back. Wish I knew where mine had gone.

I am hoping to sweat a lot of weight off tonight. And I don't mean in the loved up sort of way Grin

My poor boob is killing me now. Bet he's bitten through again. Oh, and thanks for mentioning Bloofer. I do hope she comes back soon.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 27/06/2011 22:47

Laughing at wanting to sweat.. Your own sauna! Sorry about your nip...sounds bloody painful.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 28/06/2011 05:23

Aah it's still so hot, so much for it blowing over. Up with dd who thinks it's morning and playtime!

Was going to go to zumba but not sure if I'll make it as dd still has the runs...I feel like I should take her even though I knot what they'll say! Hopefully her appt will be this afternoon and I can go!

Food:
B: branflakes, rasps, ff nat yog
L: left over couscous from last night
D: Singapore vermicelli without the pork as veggie friend coming for dinner

DoD tomorrow...eek Grin

grinningbee · 28/06/2011 08:02

Morning!

Cheese poor you being up so early. Ds woke at 4, and I was still up after 5 but then managed a little bit more shut eye. I am currently waiting for him to wake up so I can feed him, and then weigh myself Grin

Todays food will be:

Weetabix and a banana
Toast and fruit (too hot for beans on toast)
Leftover quorn bolognese with pasta
Yogurt and fruit for snacks

Need to plan the next week of meals so I can write my shopping list for tomorrow. Mind you, I am off to Sainsbury's later to see what they have to say about selling me some 3 month out of date baby food...

SlinkyB · 28/06/2011 09:13

Morning All

Thanks for the welcomes and the low-down cheese and grinning. I'm off to do a big food shop today and am going to stock up on some SW essentials...from memory: fry-lite, ML yogurts, Pepsi Max (I'm a Coke addict !), Quorn mince/sausages, Laughing Cow Light and Nimble Bread...anything else I should add? (apart from brown rice/pasta and plenty of fresh fruit and veg). Hand blender arrived yesterday so am hoping to make my first-ever home-made soup soon :)

Right, will PM you my stats now cheese .... nowhere to hide now!

grinningbee · 28/06/2011 09:30

Lots of garlic Slinky! I find most recipes have it in there somewhere Grin

Speaking of quorn mince, I made a really yummy bolognese last night:

1 300g pack of quorn mince
1 onion
3 cloves garlic
3 carrots
2 peppers
3 sticks of celery
2 tins of tomatoes
1/4 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp chilli flakes
1 tsp Italian herbs
Glug of Worcestershire sauce
Glug of Knorr chicken stock

Cook all the veggies in the chicken stock for a bit, then add the tomatoes, herbs and spices, Worcestershire and Quorn. Simmer for a bit until it looks done (or until the dc are in bed and you can eat it!). It does me and dh for two nights, and would probably do more if we ate smaller portions Grin

Syn free and serve with loads of lovely pasta.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 28/06/2011 09:40

Hmm I find the warburtons 400g loaf is much nicer than minging nimble bread...We do a lot of stirfrys so soy sauce. What else? Fat free nat yog, alpen light bars, stock cubes, balsamic vinegar as salad dressing, no added sugar orange squash, skimmed milk ...yawn yawn yawn butter, clotted cream

Sorry to hear other people were up too. I managed to get her down at 630in our bed so we both dozed for an hour, quite cosy really. Taking her to GP as diarrhoea ongoing so no zumba for me. Might try and do my Davina Mccall DVD ovre her lunchtime nap though.

slinky do you know about extra easy? Its the new slimming world plan and its easier than red/green days...

redharrington · 28/06/2011 11:11

Oh Blardyfurg! Do I really have to tell my starting weight as I am Blush Blush Blush I weighed myself this morning and was heavier than I thought but I'm hoping its curry and wine weight from the weekend and will shift quickly head in sand

SlinkyB · 28/06/2011 11:11

cheese sorry to hear your DD is unwell - hope she's better soon (how old is she?).

I went to join my local SW group last week and the consultant talked about Extra Easy but I wasn't listening as was day dreaming about large bars of chocolate couldn't get my head round it. My book is from five years ago so only talks about red and green days...do you recommend EE then? Also, do you know if anyone on here has a food diary sheet template I could pinch? Decided not to join the group but used to find them really helpful.

grinning thanks for the shopping list/recipe! All sounds good apart from celery, yuk! ;-)

SlinkyB · 28/06/2011 11:14

redharrington have you tried the Zumba for Wii yet? I'm starting a class next week but if it's too intense I'm thinking the Wii might be the way to go....although find it incredibly hard to get motivated at home I must admit (too much junk tv to sit and watch all day).

Oh, and I'm probably being really thick here, but was does the (TM) stand for after the DoD??

redharrington · 28/06/2011 11:20

slinky I've tried it with DS2 in the way, just mucking around. It does seem like quite a hard workout though, the only bit that worries me is if I am not doing the feet bit right as there is no trainer to correct you but it seems good. You get a belt to put the wii remote in so it can tell if you are moving.

I did buy shred but it hurt my boobs, even in a really supportive bra Grin

Cheeseandbiscuits · 28/06/2011 13:05

red of course you don't have to give your starting weight! You can just tell us how much you hve lost or gained each week with a total weight loss or something. I personally find the ritual humiliation useful!

slinky she is 16 weeks and has a cough, cold and dairrhoea for 10 days. Poor her. Took her to the GP'..viral illness blah blah!

I do zumba at least twice a week. Don't be afriad about going to the classes as there is such a mix of people there. It is so fun, you don;t even realise you are exercising...I love it! Shred is supposed to be awesome too.

TM - trade mark.

Hedgepig · 28/06/2011 13:35

Hello I'm back after my Bday and MN meet up weekend, much wine was drunk, cake eaten and chineses scoffed Grin. Back on plan now though salad for lunch and thin air for tea (I really do need to go shopping Wink)

Hello newbies - I think (TM) means trade mark slinky. Red I just got the new shock adsorber bra and it is splendid even with my outrageous J cup boobs

Cheese sorry DD is not too well, it will pass and ping she will be right as rain, but it horrid while you can't fix it for them.

redharrington · 28/06/2011 13:43

Phew, thanks cheese! Sorry to hear about your DD, my youngest has just got over something similar but he is 5 so its worse when its a tiny one, poor little girl. Hope she gets better really soon.

Well I've written my weight down in my old SW book and was relieved to see that I still weigh quite a bit less than this time last year. I'll start the DOD with a hopeful loss next week. I'm aiming for 4 stone for xmas, which I know is achievable if I work really hard at it and exercise as I did it before in 6 months.

My old consultant claimed to have lost 10lbs in her first week and did her 10% (which would have been about 30lbs) in the first month. Has anyone ever heard of such a huge early loss? I was a bit Hmm

Cheeseandbiscuits · 28/06/2011 13:48

red Was she very very overweight? AS is the big fat loser USA style...Cos the heavier you are the more you lose initially. But I agree they are full of BS. Hmm. 4 stone sounds reasonable. i HAVE to have lost 4 stone by then as I will be returning to work and want to be at my fighting weight by then.

hedge Glad you had a fabbie weekend. Thin air for tea eh? Yum Yum...I also overdid el vino in the sunshine but heyho.

Thanks ladies for the sympathies with DD. I know full well that she will get better soon..Due to my job, I always imagine the worst though..a little bit of knowledge and all that....It was good to have someone agree that she is grand.

redharrington · 28/06/2011 13:58

Possibly about 18 stone? I can (just) imagine someone losing 10lbs in the first week but to lose over 2 stone in a month seems very unlikely. I messed up a bit when i was first doing SW as I didn't make sure I had a third superfree with every meal so my initial loss was a bit slower than it may have been.
