You lot! Over 'ere! Sorry for taking liberties with the previous thread: I am no good with suspense, and it was like looking at a gigantic throbbing pustulating boil and not being able to squeeze it

kid · 21/06/2011 21:49

hello, I'm here!

My dad was going okay until a child in my class gave me a piece of birthday cake and it would have been rude not to eat it Grin It wasn't even that nice, I should have put it down after the first bite but nope, I ate the whole slice!

DoD tomorrow, I'm not expecting to have lost anything, but I'll check anyway. When I use my scales, I put them in exactly the same position each time to weigh myself. I use the lino pattern to help me put them in the right place. I am now back in my size 14s. Some feel a bit loose but I think thats down to me stretching them!

I had salad, meatballs and pasta for dinner tonight. It felt more like a snack rather than a meal so I hope I don't feel hungry later. Mind you, I've just noticed the time so I'll just go to bed if I get too hungry.

I need some new easy recipes to try out.
I noticed a recipe including prawns. Can I share something I hate about eating prawns? I will anyway lol
That black line that goes through the prawns is their poo. Yum yum, hope you enjoy your prawns now. If I eat them, I have to cut that part out, I can't ignore it and you can't wash it away.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 21/06/2011 22:22

I have a strong stomach kid so that don't bother me! Its the best bit Jealous of size 14 fitting well...

bee DD is now up with trapped wind, bless her. Thats a lot of inches you have lost - well done

If people private message me their DoD stats tomorrow I will list....Itd gone v quiet on here so there may not be a long list

Alpine if you are there, how are you doing?
Bloof hows it going?

Muser · 21/06/2011 22:26

I weighed in today as it's when SW tells me and Wednesdays are a bit of a rush. I am a happy bunny. Grin

kid · 21/06/2011 22:27

my day was going okay, not my dad.
(Why don't I ever check my message before I post it?)

I just can't eat prawn poo. I wonder if it contains any syns. I guess it would depend on what the prawn had eaten and how much poo there was! PMSL

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/06/2011 07:40

Morning chubby chumps... Let's have your deets please, send me a PM! List will be published 530 ish!

Today, normal service is resumed as baby a bit better so off to they gym today.
B: scrambled eggs n mushroom on toast
l: salad with something
d: ham and artichoke pasta

right off to get on the scales!

Muser · 22/06/2011 08:00

I am confused by prawn poo. Surely the black line gets removed? I have never had a prawn with the black line still in. But I tend to avoid prawns with the shell on as they're a pain.

grinningbee · 22/06/2011 08:48

Gooooooooooooooooooooooood morning! Grin

I thought I did so well yesterday to not mention my Dod. I think it's gone quiet here too, and I really hope everyone will come back.

Glad your dd is a bit better today Cheese. I was up for a couple of hours again with ds last night, he was so tired but wriggling like a worm on a hook. And he bit me really badly too which made dh cross, so we fell out as I can't see how you can be angry with a baby when they don't do it on purpose.

Still... (tmi tmi tmi) both nipples have been bitten and the teeth went in. One of them actually has a flap now and is a bit bloody. Should be an interesting day with feeding him, although the first one hasn't been too bad.

Anyway! Back to SW. I have had a good week. A very good week GrinGrin

Prawn poo - yes, that is the black line down the back, and can be gritty due to sand if you eat it. Think it's only the larger ones you'd worry about removing it though. Seeing as I don't get to eat them anymore, I can't remember.

Good luck everyone Smile

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/06/2011 09:07

FFS. What is going on? I am doing EVERYTHING right. And I have still fucking gained.

On a calmer note, ouch bee. Give that side a rest today. Poor you!

Muser · 22/06/2011 09:22

I was up for over an hour at 4am as someone decided that it was the perfect time to try and learn to roll over. I wish she would just learn already so I could get some sleep! I stopped her crying and left her cooing and squirming in her cot again, and went back to bed.

Cheese, bugger to the gain. Is it possibly down to all your gym exercise? Are you getting muscley? Or maybe that time of the month? Or crappy scales. Did you replace the battery?

My DoD went well yesterday. I am no longer in the 14 stone category and have now lost over half a stone. Woot! Growth spurts are good for something.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/06/2011 09:25

Well done muser
It could be the exercise, I am maybe more toned. If I am being really honest, I have been out for a couple of lunches which may seem to stick to the plan, but might have more fat etc in that I realised. I did change the battery. I am going to weigh myself in the gym and see what that says. Although I will weight heavier as it is later in the day! Sorry you had another rough night. DD here has got bored with the whole rolling thing and now prefers to practise her newfound ability to scream. I was up with her till 1230 and at 3 and at 7 - nothing was wrong, she just wanted to play!

duckymum · 22/06/2011 09:29

Morning all

1lb off this week - somehow. Must have been worth the effort the past couple of days.

So now I am back at my 6 week check weight and have lost the post natal gain. Only another 20lb to my target, where I think I might fit into all the dormant work clothes in my wardrobe. Sadly only 5 weeks until I go back, and at the rate I'm going I am not going to make that in time.

I have been trying some of them on - I have 1 suit that is larger than the rest and that will be ok, one which is tight but should be passable if I lose a bit more by then. But sadly think I may have to go buy new things to go under them - shirts that haven't been thrown out are nowhere near fastening without a gape; I don't think they will be until I stop bf to be honest, so will have to part with cash and go look out some cheapies to see me through.

Good luck everyone!

grinningbee · 22/06/2011 09:44

Oh Cheese, don't beat yourself up over it. Just write everything down. It WILL come off!

Well done Muser and Duckymum. I am no longer a 15st something. Hurrah for that! I damn well won't be going back to it either.

Todays food will be:

Weetabix and a banana
Toast and fruit
Sweet chilli chicken with a big heap of roasted veg
Fruit for snacks

I need to lose another 8lb to get to my "Club 10" and I would really like to get down into the next stone by the first weigh in in August. There, new target set!

Big weekly shop to do this morning. Depending on the behaviour of the littlies, this will either be easy or leave me wishing I had a big slab of coffee cake in the house.... Wink

C4ro · 22/06/2011 10:41

Hi All. I'm down a pound.

I've not been about due to entertaining MIL for a long weekend. She is a love but I didn't cope well with the continual talking requiring me to listen/ reply all the time. Think it was good for DD though, probably helped her talking loads. We've got an extra Bank Holiday tomorrow and then away to the UK for another wedding bash. That is thankfully the last of it for a while so weekends in the future might mean some time to actually settle into new place and unpack a couple of boxes.

Great to read your menu suggestions and recipes Bee and Cheese The sing noodles and macaroni cheese both look really tasty. I will pass them to chef and demand he gets cracking! Actually not true this week as chef has buggered off to US for work so it'll be me for a change doing cooking things. Probably 5 lots of beans on toast . Someone mentioned the ham in coke- if that is the Nigella recipe, I can heartily recommend you do not swap in diet coke, my aunt did that and it was not well received! Apsartames just don't do any caramelising. Can I also be a cheeky cah and ask whoever mentioned it for the lentil shep pie? Only if you can be arsed to dig it out mind, not life or death. I made my chicken leftovers recipe on the weekend- whatever scraps you can scrounge of the carcass of a roast chicken, fry an onion and a few sticks of celery chopped up. Throw a lump of butter/ flour over all that with lots of salt and pepper then the milk/ chicken stock to make a sauce for it all, cook for a bit, chuck in some mushrooms. It's tasty with rice.

To all the BF- I lost nothing at all while BF but did find it made me very hungry and crave sugar. I BF only up to 6 months then stopped over a couple of weeks or so and since then the hunger died down and some weight came off. That BF= fast track weightloss can be a myth for some so don't get disheartened if that's you too, oh and Envy if it is working!

I'd love to know where plebshire is... have a sneaking suspicion it should be the area I grew up in (Derby/ Notts?) but will also call you pervshire since fred wishes it.

grinningbee · 22/06/2011 10:46

C4ro I shall post the recipe for a lentily shepherd later. We had the leftover half last night and it was very nice.

Wish me luck - about to go out food shopping...

mandalee · 22/06/2011 10:48

Too bummed by DOD today. Cooked a nice meal on Sunday for Father's Day and thought it would be OK since I only had roast meat and veggies - until I got a taste of the fucking awesome choc brownies I made. Damn, I'm good. Way, way too good. And I've paid for it in spades - nearly all my lovely loss this week down the toilet. Sad

Still, v happy for the success stories. Will have to really do my low-carb thing this week and see if I can stop coming bottom of the list!

C4ro · 22/06/2011 11:09

bee thanks in advance!

Forgot to mention that MIL (the sabboteur) made a giant batch of apricot cake that took all my will power to keep myself from scoffing. She does believe in feeding her son up, except he is a tiny waif of a thing only about half an inch taller than me and weighing about 65kg max (I'm down to just a wafer under 77kg now).

Brownies- best to not have in the house. mandalee I've no idea how anyones willpower would withstand it.

grinningbee · 22/06/2011 15:54

Right then.

Shepherd's Lentil Pie

Serves 4

2lb/908g Desiree potatoes, peeled and roughly chopped
7oz/198g fat free natural fromage frais
Large handful of fresh mixed herbs (chives, parsley and tarragon) finely chopped
salt and black pepper
Fry light
1 onion, chopped
2 large carrots, peeled and cubed
2 celery sticks, finely sliced
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 red pepper, deseeded and cubed
1 tsp dried thyme
1/2 pint/284 ml vegetable stock
400g can chopped tomatoes
410g can green lentils
4oz/113g grated vegetarian cheese
Steamed broccoli florets to serve

  1. Preheat your oven to 180 c/350 f/gas 4
Boil the potatoes for 12-15 minutes until tender and then drain well. Add the fromage frais and herbs. Mash and season well, and set aside.
  1. Meanwhile, place a frying pan sprayed with fry light over a high heat. Add the onion and fry for 3-4 minutes until nicely softened. Add the carrots, celery, garlic, pepper, thyme, stock and tomatoes. Bring to the boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for 10 minutes.
  1. Add the lentils and their juice to the mix. Cover and simmer for a further 10 minutes, or until the lentils are pulpy and the carrots still have a bit of bite.
  1. Place the mixture in a large pie dish and top with the potatoe mixture. Sprinkle the cheese over and cook in the oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden.

Free on green and extra easy as long as the cheese is a healthy extra, otherwise it's 5.5 syns.

I put wholegrain mustard in the mash instead of herbs - doesn't add more than a couple of syns to the whole dish.

Hope you like it!

kid · 22/06/2011 16:04

Oh well, I've had my first gain since I started. Its only a small gain too (I'm trying to be positive) but it serves me right really.
Its been very easy up until now to lose the weight, so maybe I needed this little shock to make me realise I have to be sensible.

I'm still exercises at least 3 times a week. I've got several classes booked this week, I just hope I can cope with them all. Each class is 45 minutes and I'm going tonight, tomorrow, Saturday, Sunday and Monday! I might even go for a swim on Monday morning. I'm going to give the spin class a try even though it scares me Grin

I've got shopping being delivered tonight, I ordered 2 packs of curly wurlys, 12 muller lights, some tracker bars (need to check syn value) salad, fruit, chicken and God knows what else. I hope they deliver it all as I can't be bothered to go out and get anything else. I've had a horrible day at work today but can luckily switch off from it. I'm just so, so, so tired. I didn't go to bed until 1am and I had to be up at 6:30am.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/06/2011 17:13

Few more still to come I reckon obrigada, only, hedge, ursula and perv?? I will wait a wee bit longer...

Ordered some new scales after my tantrum. Teehee!
Zumba was awesome today, even got some of the moves right! Tomorrow I have got legs, bums and tums which I have never been too and I am slightly dreading it.

Will publish the results when the slowcoaches get round to messaging me when I get all the results in!

Onlyaphase · 22/06/2011 18:16

Have PMed you Cheese with my non-event of a weigh in. I've been cycling away like a mad woman recently, and feel much more toned, rather than thinner.

I'm using that Gmap pedometer site which is just fabulous as you can track where you walk/run/cycle and it tells you how far you've been - does anyone else use it? It only seems to work for me on roads though, not on footpaths.

I've been outside doing stuff in the garden, and then inside finding things in the attic and doing the whole sorting/washing/ironing/photographing and selling on Ebay thing. Takes up a lot of time when there are crates of maternity clothes and 4 years of children's clothes to go through too. However, sales are going well and there is space in the attic so it is definitely worth it. Timeconsuming though so less time on MN in general.

Cheeseandbiscuits · 22/06/2011 18:32

evening sorry missed the DoD list, well done to everyone Grin. I've been away with work and only got back. I gained 2lb this week really need to pull my socks up as I am snacking a bit here and a bit there and I have to stop. Back later

Onlyaphase · 22/06/2011 19:21

A big congratulations to Grinningbee and I hope you are suitably proud of yourself today.

It is pissing down here and has been all afternoon too. I've just made some strawberry jam though, so the house smells gorgeous all the way through it. And > please note I used my own homegrown strawberries too.

mandalee · 22/06/2011 19:26

Wow, way to go Bee!! A stone down, that must feel so good.

Despite having lost a measly 100g, I'm in the emotional boat with Cheese and kid, since I HAD lost almost a kilo before this! Thinking of weighing myself tomorrow as well in case this morning was a once-off, but not sure my soul can take the impact. Sad

Had a WHOLE packet of prawns on top of grilled courgettes and [an entire bunch of] asparagus with garlic and a tiny bit of EV olive oil for dinner - so stuffed! And satisfied - prawns are a sufficient treat, I guess (we don't usually have them b/c my hubby is allergic, but he's out tonight so I can have what I like! Grin)

Another day, another diet. Going to lunch at Claridge's (woo woo) with some ladies tomorrow for a friend's farewell party - that should put paid to the diet for the week, eh? What are we to do with a set menu (besides not eat the bread)????

Wish me luck! Hmm

mandalee · 22/06/2011 19:28

Goodness, only, you are giving Nigella a run for her money! Add some rhubarb to your next batch, it's fabulous.

I always grow strawbs, but I suspect you need about 1/2 an acre to get enough for jam - mine never produce the way they should!
