30 Day Shred

So... I know there are millions of threads about Jillian Michaels, but I have just done my second day of it and I am quite impressed with myself! Yesterday I managed to do to the end of the second circuit and today I did all three. I have just had to lie on the floor for a while in recovery though... does that I mean I am doing it right? :)

How long will I have to wait to see results though? I am quite impatient!

They have a five written on them. Maybe it's 5lb?

latrucha · 20/06/2011 09:16

5lb Blush

Madinitials · 20/06/2011 12:57

5lb is still good Latrucha, I'm doing 3lb in each hand and want to cry halfway through the second set of V raises!!

Now thst I have completed 30 days Shred, I'm doing my own 15 day shred, i.e. 5 days at each level. I had forgotten how hard L2 was - sweating like a P.I.G at the end of it.

sasza321 · 20/06/2011 13:46

Latrucha 5lb is very very good!

no shredding here over the weekend, so need to get back into it tonight.

chipandbiff · 20/06/2011 14:08

omg. You are all so dedicated, you have inspired me to buy the dvd. It will arrive tomorrow apparently so the new me is in the post! I am hugely inspired by all your efforts, hopefully I will have some of my own to report back soon...(if I have the strength to type, having read some of your posts about the pain after the sessions!!)

BartletForAmerica · 20/06/2011 14:59

Well, the cold is better, but then my lovely DH took up away for the weekend so plenty of bracing walks along the beach but no Shredding.

L1 D5 tonight once the baby has gone to bed - does this mean the aching thighs are going to come back?

sasza321 · 20/06/2011 19:57

madinitials talking about Level 2, have you notice that in this level Jillians sports bra is totally insufficient Grin AND then Anita seems to be wearing it in Level 3 ?!

chipandbiff good luck and please report after your day 1!

tinker316 · 20/06/2011 20:49

Hi girls!!

I use 2b such a gym bunny-going 3/4 times a week.

But since i have had my dd who is now 13 months old , i barely find the time now with work & finding childcare etc...

I have never heard of the 30 day shred , but every1 on MN has been raving about it so i thought i would see what the fuss is all about!!

From the posts & reviews i have read , they have really encouraged me-so i have ordered my copy of the dvd Shock i need 2 get 2 how i use 2b-i have put on 2 stone since i was pregnant Sad & i just want 2 b happy in my own skin Smile and i know that being on here will also encourage me & give me the kick up the ass i so need!!

so, here is 2 all of us in it 2gether!! Grin

latrucha · 21/06/2011 14:59

Hi chipandbiff! Hi Tinker!

Bartlett - I had a break and found that the first time is the worst, so don't worry.

L2d2 - slightly modified for the exercises which I think will hurt my achilles tendons. I am thinking abou tgetting some lighter weights now as I really can't get through some of the arm exercises. OR should I just tough it out. I bet Gills would say yes!

latrucha · 21/06/2011 14:59

I had noticed a somewhat glam look on the sprts bra in L2!

Joltek · 21/06/2011 16:31

Hi

I have just nervously ordered the DVD. I am a bit worried that I am not going to be able to do as am very overweight and not terribly fit. I have been cycling half an hour a day for the last few weeks which I hope will help but we'll see. I have a wedding to go to at the end of the July and so this is a last minute ditch attempt to try and not look too hideousl
Hope to get to know you all!

Bry x

Madinitials · 21/06/2011 21:11

Sasza yep, I noted Jillian's sports 'bra' - totally inadequate!! Didn't notice that Anita had borrowed it for L3 though, they must be on a tight clothing budget!! I love the fact that when 'Nadalee' stands up after doing the second set of plank jumping jacks (I think it's at that point), she looks totally pooped. She's human after all!!

latrucha · 23/06/2011 18:07

ok. Given up and bought myself some 2lb weights. Those 'v' lifts are hellish!

latrucha · 26/06/2011 20:13

...but actually haven't used them yet. I'm having a shred break this week - again! - as DH is away, which means me walking for about two hours a day doing school runs. Am I justified? I did think of doing iot when the kids are in bed but, realistically, this is not happening.

Anyone else not really doing a '30 day' shred? I'm intending just to keep at it. THere's very little chance I'll get to do any other kind of exercise. Do you think there's anything wrong with that?

Oh, and DH has told me that my arms are showing the least effect. Hmmm Angry

poppyandsneeze · 27/06/2011 13:46

Hi everyone, I decided last week to dig out the 30-day shred dvd that I purchased back in May. I managed to do one 20 min. session on Thursday and have just done my second 20 min session today. After reading all of your comments, I realise now that I have to spend 10 days on each level. So I am going to say that this is L1 d1 and am going to squeeze in the 20 minutes every day when my little has a lunchtime sleep. If she refuses then I might then have to wait until the evening ??? Not so confident in doing this in evening, as my dh will probably laugh at me. Never mind. I found it a little hard on the legs, and drank lots of water especially as it is so hot here !!!

I am about 2 stone overweight and never really lost the baby weight. So need to now. Just thought I would say hello and join in on this thread.

BartletForAmerica · 27/06/2011 14:47

I've been doing the Shred first thing while my DH and DS have breakfast downstairs. I find that if I leave it until later, it is easier to avoid doing it.

I need to get proper weights though - at the moment, I'm using Fairy Liquid bottles!

Madinitials · 27/06/2011 16:34

Hi Poppysneeze, well done for doing your first Shred. I agree with Bartlet that it's easier to do it first thing in the morning, I get up early before DD is up and take DS down with me, he watches from his baby chair. I chat to him whilst I do it and he's pretty cool about sitting there. How old is your DD?

Latrucha, I think you'll have to walk fast ish and get out of breathe, like we do on the Shred but 2 hours is very good.

sasza321 · 27/06/2011 20:05

Hello all,

well I had a lovely shred free 4 days weekend Grin and now just did Level 2 again. I think I have done it for 30 days now but will keep going for a while.

How do you guys find the energy to do it in the morning? It takes a nice big cup of strong brew and slow breakfast with DS to wake up properly...

poppyandsneeze hello and well done!

mogs0 · 27/06/2011 21:43

May I join you all please? I bought my copy of the dvd in December and the closest I've got to any exercise is putting it in the dvd player and the dvd player freezing! I took it as a sign that I wasn't quite ready to shred Grin!!

I lost a stone in April following low GI then lost motivation. I've kept the stone off but have another 4 to lose to need to get motivated again.

I was planning to do the dvd first thing in the morning but I am so rubbish at getting up as it is without trying to get up 20 minutes earlier so I'll have to start off in the evening for now.

Tonight is my first night and I'm going now to do my first shred!!

mogs0 · 27/06/2011 23:33

I've done it!!! It took me at least an hour to get the dvd to work in one of the many machines that lay cluttering up my tv cabinet. Hopefully, after all the faffing I've done tonight, I'll be able to put it straight on tomorrow - that's if I can even move!

Would I be pushing it too far to attempt a morning and evening workout?

latrucha · 28/06/2011 10:29

I find if I do it in the morning I am less hungry during the day. Bonus!

Morning workout and brisk walk?

I don't think my walking will replace shredding as the shred seems as much about muscle tone as anything. I just thought it was a good enough excuse not to. However, saw the Boden-clad, size 10 yummies dropping their children at preschool this morning and decided the shredding must be done!

mogs0 · 28/06/2011 12:51

After last nights exercise I fell into bed fairly early which meant I wasn't too much of a zombie first thing this morning so I did 20 minutes of a different exercise dvd and walked ds to school.

I'm back on my low GI eating regime but am pretty hungry now and I had lunch an hour ago Blush.

I shall go and munch on an apple, drink a pint of water and find something to distract myself with to make me forget about food cravings!

poppyandsneeze · 28/06/2011 13:08

Hi, l1 d2. I found it alot easier. Didn't need to drink so much water during the routine. I did find the last exercise, bicycle crunches really hard, I don't think I have quite the co-ordination for this.

poppyandsneeze · 28/06/2011 13:10

I am also trying not to eat so much and lay off the sugar and wine.

latrucha · 03/07/2011 20:32

So, I haven't shredded for a week - but did do all the walking.

I have got into a pair of jeans today that I last wore in 2007, pre Dcs. Size 12. Bit tight though. Grin

Back to shredding tomorow, but I feel like I am finally getting on top of this. I feel really pleased I heard of the DVD now.
