So... I know there are millions of threads about Jillian Michaels, but I have just done my second day of it and I am quite impressed with myself! Yesterday I managed to do to the end of the second circuit and today I did all three. I have just had to lie on the floor for a while in recovery though... does that I mean I am doing it right? :)

How long will I have to wait to see results though? I am quite impatient!

sasza321 - you know, i've been sleeping really well since i started doing this also, done day 8 of level 1 now, will make it to 10 days at L1 and then thinking of moving up to L2 for 10 days. I am still loving it. the aching isnt as bad now. can really see a difference in my arms and my tummy.
i got stopped in the corridor at work today (i work in a hospital) and a random person from tone of the office's (who i only know from seeing them, not to talk to) asked me if im shrinking! i was quite pleased but also Shock that they would say that as they dont know me!!
am going on a night out in july and hoping to reach 11st by then. am 11st 13 currently (was 14st 11 last summer!!!)

RoyalWelsh · 20/05/2011 13:30

Right I am goign to bite the bullet and try L2 today...although I can't promise I won't give up half way through, especially if it is abs oriented.

Pinkheart that is amazing, how did you lose the first three stone, if you don't mind me asking?

RoyalWelsh · 20/05/2011 14:04

Oh Good God.

I am actually disappointed at not being able to do the Shred today./ DVD now completely broken. Grrrrrr.

I can' treally afford it but will have to buy a new one tomorrow, just to do the Shred!

RoyalWelsh · 21/05/2011 10:18

I was surprised at how expensive the DVD was latrucha I got mine from Amazon and thought it woudl be likke 10, 15 pounds at the most!

I am pleased to announce that not only do I ache like all fuckery this morning after yesterdays introduction to L2, but I also spent a while in front of the mirror and I think imagine there is beginning to be a difference? I really honestly think my arms are slightly less horrible and that my upper back looks better somehow. I certainly Feel like I am making headway, and I suppose that counts for a lot!

I don't know how I will do it in front of DP though, at least with L1 I could maintain some semblance of dignity...

sasza321 · 21/05/2011 12:56

hi guys, I only paid £5 (plus £1.24 first class delivery) on amazon. I think I picked a different merchant. did take a couple of days to be dispatched but arrived quickly.

Slightobsession - woo hoo, well done on entering Level 2. I really dread it!
pinkheart - wow, that's really impressive, keep it up!

latrucha · 21/05/2011 17:34

It's not the dvd that's broken. It's my dvd player. sob.

I lost a kilo this week! I've been picking treats at dd's party today in celebation GrinHmm

RoyalWelsh · 21/05/2011 18:09

Ooh well done! How?

OP posts:
latrucha · 21/05/2011 19:41

Shred. Eating less (trying to stick strictly to hunger and if I think I want more I wait 10 minutes to see if I really do). Eat tea with the kids at 5, only a small snack after that if I need it. Normally a small salad or yoghurt, or a couple of crackers and cheese if I'm really hungry.

I also walk 30 mins fast every week day.

I have been static for months. The only changes this week were to really take care of the eating to hunger thing plus the Shred.

Have eaten 'normally' today and feel like I've pigged. May pig some more though!

DoubleDegreeStudent · 21/05/2011 20:25

Oooh, can I join please? L1D2 about to start here. Aching a bit - trying to psych myself up!

My plan was to do it every morning, but am in a 4th floor flat so changing it around a bit to keep the neighbours guessing.

I have joint problems so can't do much sport and am having to freestyle a bit with parts of the shred (just repeat earlier sections) but normally I swim, I eat properly and nothing changes. Fingers crossed.

pinkheart · 21/05/2011 21:09

Slightobsession - i gave up all sweets, chocolate, cakes and bread. was a struggle at first but am fine now, i have a very sweet tooth so do eat lots of fruit. i joined my fitness pal.com and log everything i eat too. I also have lots of oatbran mixed in a muller light, fills me up and good for the cholesterol. just did the shred again. am loving it.

RoyalWelsh · 21/05/2011 21:38

Latrucha, thankyou :) I lost three stone like that a year or so ago. I think it's laziness now, it just always seems much easier to eat rubbish, when really I feel so much happier, physically and mentally when I make healthier choices! It's silly really.

I've just done L2d2 and literally lay face down on the floor for five minutes after. Not fun but fun. We should all have taken before
Photos so we can compare them to after photos a la weighteatchers / lighter life etc

oo ooo ooo can I come and tell you lot about me and dp bening tortured by the hateful woman

we have sorted a little routine as we knew we would be killed by it and by fusk we weren't wrong

we eat at 9 and no later in the morning
then we brisk walk the dogs for 15 mins at around 10.30
then we do the shred at about 11.30
then we walk the dog again but usually slower as all kids come with us then

we have done this for the third time today

dp feels like he has flu and I'm walking like I have an artificial hip

everything aches but I'm determined we will do 30 days wihout a break

I tried to start this myself a few months ago and I did it on my own and nearly threw up 6 mins in and never tried it again

we have both put on 2 stone since we got together (almost a year now)
so I asked dp if we could do it together to help us on
I actua;;y thought he wouldn't be up for it I though he may think it was a fanny aerobis girly workout thing but he said yeah syre, good idea

one thing I learnt is you really need to wait two hours after you eat or you will feel like you are going to puke (or maybe thats just us) and even so we both feel a little sicky towards the end

dp says that you would manage it better in just knickers and sports bra

I wonder why he says that Grin

I'm trying to eat a little more sensibly too
I'm deciding that I dont need to eat my weight in cheese and haven't had any in the last three days without really missing it
and I'm watching not too much bread, pasta etc
and I'm trying to eat as much veg as I can get but I love veg so its just about making sure you have it in the house and deciding to eat it and lots of it at every meal

also consciously drinking big glasses al water all day

the amount I have been sweating shredding is scary lol

TrinityIsAShreddingFatRhino · 21/05/2011 21:56

wow that was a massive post, sorry Blush

but you can tell I'm really up for this cant you Grin

does anyone else swear at gillina whilst you're doing it?

dps says no wonder she doesn't sweat she spends half of it going over to the other girls to show us what they're doing and therefore not doing it Grin

archfiend · 21/05/2011 22:03

Did l1d4 today, finding the strength stuff a bit less mind numbingly awful viscious but my r knee is really aching during the cardio, particularly jumping jacks so I am going to have to lay off some of that for a bit. Am going to find a cardio set that doesn't twinge so much and do that instead for a bit!
On a positive note, my arms feel a bit firmer (could be wishful thinking Grin ).

RoyalWelsh · 22/05/2011 00:48

Welcome TRinity! I saw your name on a thread the other day and wanted to wave excitedly in shredding solidarity, but thought it might be odd! Does your dog find it traumatic when you shred? Mine finds the cardio bits terrifying by the sounds of her whining.

Arch, will you keepgoing with the strength and the abs or will you find something more suitable for your knee? What aboutpilates?

OP posts:
TrinityIsAShreddingFatRhino · 22/05/2011 01:17

I WILL DO IT ALL for 30 days definitely

I have a knee support which I have been using and so far my knee hasn;t kicked off

which I must admit I find strange with all the knees bent poses

but I'm not going to question it, just keep going

today is the day whe brushing my hair has hurt the most....

archfiend · 22/05/2011 09:04

I'm going to keep going but just do something else instead if jumping jacks which seem to be the problem, will probably do jump rope instead which weirdly doesn't seem to bother my knee. Might have to think again if when I get to level 2!

Trinity, arms do get better, honestly! I had trouble pouring a cup of coffee the other day but they are definitely feeling less achy now!

RoyalWelsh · 22/05/2011 14:34

Arch, I have found already in L2 that it's quite abs and arms orientated. There is a lot of 'plank' position which absolutely kills me because i have not upper body strength whatsoever... although I have noticed an improvement since I started the DVD which is nice.

And...andandandandAND!!! I fit better in my jeans Grin my stomach doesn't bulge over the top really anymore, which makes wearing tops and jeans that bit easier... before I put on this stone I had got to the point where I was almost happy just going out with jeans and a t shirt on and not a massive waterfall cardi that I clutch around myself in the manner f a dressing gown. Then I put on the stone due to abject misery (miscarriage) and I just looked awful so went back to leggings and big baggy dresses.

Now, my jeans are big enough to fit a small army in them, but at least there is no spillage anymore Grin

Just finished a stretch of 12 days out of 14 at work and my shredding has suffered.

I am off to the gym this afternoon and will start level 2 tomorrow (and hopefully get to the gym as well).

Well done all you dedicated shredders and hello to all the new people.

archfiend · 22/05/2011 19:26

Thanks for the info on l2, sounds like 'fun' Grin. Think iwill just have to watch my knee and hope it doesn't get any worse.

And, well done on your new found jean wearing confidence (sorry about the mc too). That gives me hope that all this pain will be worth it in the end!

sasza321 · 22/05/2011 20:22

hello all, L1D6 done! Think I will move to level 2 on tuesday/wednesday.

Slightobsession - woohoo, well done on jeans success. Stuff like this keeps me motivated. I haven't had my jeans on since I started shredding, will try them on before I move on to level 2. I really hope there's going to be some improvement!

tibni · 23/05/2011 09:05

Just completed L2D1. It was tough, but I expected that, but I think I prefer it to level 1. It is the kind of workout that you can judge your own improvement with.

I surprised myself by being able to do the advanced level on quite a lot of the workout (not the plank press up and my squats are not that low).

Well done on the jeans Slightobsession. I hope that this is the area that shred really comes into its own, that it is not just a numbers on the scales type diet but a workout that gives tone and helps confidence.

Off for a long soak in the shower!

DoubleDegreeStudent · 23/05/2011 11:32

L1D4 completed. Still finding the warm up the hardest bit Blush but feeling it much more across my shoulders today.

Struggling with motivation a bit, but I've found really motivating. Not sure if it will get anyone else going or not - I saw it live and am just totally in awe of the actress and it always gets me off the sofa

awaywego1 · 23/05/2011 12:56

So, i did day 1 of shred yesterday..my legs hurt today but i am still alive. I am generally an exercise hater but am really going to try and stick with this as i need to tone up.
The problem is that i live in a first floor flat; with floors made of paper..the woman below me is very sensitive to noise, the abs/strength bits are fine but all the jumping up and down cardio might just be too much for her. Yesterday i did a bit and then just did the punches instead. Obviously if i know she is out i will cardio away but what could i do instead to make this work for me? or is there no point if i'm not doing the whole thing exactly right? thanks!
