So... I know there are millions of threads about Jillian Michaels, but I have just done my second day of it and I am quite impressed with myself! Yesterday I managed to do to the end of the second circuit and today I did all three. I have just had to lie on the floor for a while in recovery though... does that I mean I am doing it right? :)

How long will I have to wait to see results though? I am quite impatient!

Congrats on the half a stone schoolholiday :) it feels good doesn't it? I don't think I could bake and not lick the bowl :s I've had to distract myself all day from whipping up some fudge!

Tibni you are my new weight loss/healthy lifestyle guru :) I will not be marking spelling but I Will be watching attendance although I will hand over to you for any blatant disobedience. Is it scary, being a prison officer? The only reference I have is Bad Girls.

Pudding - completely off topic... and you can only join if you answer my questions

Have you ever interviewed for a teaching position? I have three interviews now Blush and I am so nervous I am wetting myself slightly nervous. Any tips???

I don't think I can do level 2 if it is going to make me vom, I don't have that kind of willpower :s

When do you move on from Level 1 btw? Is it when you feel ready or have I missed part of the instructions?

Slightobsession - i'm not an officer, I work for the council in the library located in a male prison. It is a working prison so I have prisoners working alongside me and I get to lock my customers in! Grin I also am part of Social Services Emergency Team and do some casual hours at a High School.

Had a 4 hour meeting in the prison today and I did eat a donut Blush.

I have not even braved watching level 2 yet, I am planning on doing the full 10 days of level 1 first. Pelvic floor is good but I dont think I will ever be able to manage that number of full press ups!

schoolholidaymeanshotcrossmum · 12/05/2011 21:49

I think a four hour meeting justifies a donut!

I've done quite well today, but worried about the weekend, away with friends and I don't want to be the miserable boring dieter, but nor do I want to trough! Will need to distract people from my plate with my sparkling wit Hmm. Have packed a frisbee but not sure that's the equivalent of a bit of Jillian!

tibni · 12/05/2011 21:56

SHMHCM - if you get a frisbee partner who is as bad a throw as me you will get a work out of Jillian intensity.

pudding25 · 12/05/2011 22:50

Hi Slightobsession. I have never actually had to interview properly as I had a teaching placement at the school I work in and got offered a job there and have been there ever since. I am assuming that you will have to teach a class-if you do, the top things that we are told to do now are 1) It is all about what the children are actually learning so whatever your LI is, make sure it is clear and that the children understand it/learn from it 2) Have success criteria for the children 3) model what you are doing 4) Have mini plenaries where you stop the lesson midway, go over anything that is not clear/show an example of someone's work who is following the success criteria.
I don't know what questions they would ask you in an actual interview with the head though. The TES website might have some good advice. Good luck.

I had been doing level 1 every now and then. I never actually did 10 days in a row. I watched level 2 to see what it was like and stupidly thought it didn't look too bad. More fool me!

LydiaTeapot · 13/05/2011 00:14

Can I join in please?

I keep managing a few days of L1 before life takes over again, don't know whether to just move up to L2 soon or make myself get through 10 almost consecutive days of L1. I do Pilates 2 days a week so want to do the Shred on at least 4 other days.

It's the morning here so I need to get on with it before the kids come home, now I've said I'll do it I'll have to...at least L1 is getting easier now I've bought some lighter weights Smile

schoolholidaymeanshotcrossmum · 13/05/2011 09:17

Morning all and hello Lydia,

busy day for me today but because of you lot i am going to make myself find 20 mins for Jillian...Thank you (I think)

pudding25 · 13/05/2011 11:10

Well, I have just done a 50 min walk. Got lots to do today so going to try and fit in Shred later. I need to make the most of having some time as I am back to work next week and no idea how I will fit in any exercise (have been off for a while as had a miscarriage in the easter break).

Hi Lydia. Why don't you give level 2 a go and if it is too much, go back to level 1. Level 1 is hard going anyway!

reikizen · 13/05/2011 13:04

Day 2 today, and my yoga class. So feeling good but not sure I'll get chance to do it tomorrow so sort of need to double up today. I'm planning on doing it when I get home from a night shift with the idea that if I am half asleep I may not feel the pain so much? Possibly...

RoyalWelsh · 13/05/2011 13:09

Hey Lydia :)

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, Pudding, I hope you are feeling a bit better about it all now. I know it's a popular line on MN, but I'm going to say it anyway - be kind to yourself.

I am desperate to make some fudge and keep finding all sorts of reasons why I don't have time to shred today...and now I have actually 'said' it out loud, I am going to go and do it before I find another reason.

Although I will have to change my bra first - Shred + normal bra = not good!

RoyalWelsh · 13/05/2011 13:43

Done!

OP posts:
pudding25 · 13/05/2011 16:25

Well done for doing it and thanks for your kind wishes. I have been cleaning and tidying all day ready for DD's party tomorrow and I am shattered. I am going to put my feel up for half an hour then contemplate the horror that is level 2. Not sure if I can face it. I have got body combat booked for the morning which is also a killer.

fraggle73 · 13/05/2011 17:15

CAn someone tell me what hand weight sshould be used in 30 day shred. Currently I am using baked bean cans but think I need something heavier. I do have 5lb weights but think they may be too heavy....will they be??

pudding25 · 13/05/2011 17:41

I started with bean cans and they were far too light. No idea what you are meant to use but I bought 2 kg weights which is 4.4lbs (I think!). They are tough but just about ok bar one of the strength exercises which I struggle with. I think, unless you are pretty strong, that 5lb mught be a bit much.

Am proud as have just finished it but feel like I need to lie down in a dark room for a week!

Scarletbanner · 14/05/2011 10:51

2 kg weights from the outset? Gosh, I have just moved up from 0.5 to 1.0 and that's quite enough for now! On day 5 of L1 now and not too bored yet. I 'm dreading L2.

RoyalWelsh · 14/05/2011 10:55

Day 5 for me too... Has anyone started to see any results? I know it is probably wishful thinking, but I am sure my arms are looking better

Dysgu · 14/05/2011 11:35

Hello everyone - can I join you please?

Today will be L1D6 - although I have not actually done it today yet! I have two DDs (aged 4 and 2) who remind me to do my 'exercises' each day and jump around with me!

I too started on 0.6kg and have now moved up to 1.2kg (especially as DD1 likes to use the smaller ones to join in sometimes!)

I think my trousers are not quite so tight...

RoyalWelsh · 14/05/2011 13:29

Are you Welsh by any chance, Dysgu?

OP posts:
pudding25 · 14/05/2011 14:15

Hi Dysgu. My DD (3) starts doing some exercise with me then starts causing a fuss and sitting on me when I try and do sit ups/demands attention. I just can't concentrate on doing the DVD while she is there as I need every ounce of energy to do the exercise!

I think I overdid it yesterday. Started L2D4 this morning, managed about 6 mins then gave up! So crap but I did go out for a fast 30 min walk. Don't think it helped that I couldn't sleep last night.

tibni · 15/05/2011 10:39

Morning all. Afraid I missed a day but I have shredded this morning and will go to the gym this afternoon as penance. Working 6 days week, split shifts plus on call is taking its toll a bit but I am determined to continue with this.

Slightobsession, I think the workout is getting easier, I was starting to hope I was seeing results but taking dd out for a meal for getting a distinction in her RAD Gd3 Ballet exam will not have helped the cause Grin. However I want to get a balance, not feel guilty if I have a treat, so I am not worried.

pinkheart · 15/05/2011 10:59

oooh can i join, i brought this dvd last week. ive lost 3 stone since last sept, just by changing my eating habits, but the weight loss has slowed right down now. i work for the nhs and have to sit down for the majority of the day, i get the opportunity to walk about between patients but otherwise am pretty static. I have done this dvd for 4 days now (had yesterday off and done it this morning - my 4 yr old ds joins in with me too lol) and my legs are throbbing, walking is hurting, but while i did the dvd they didnt hurt! im aiming for another stone off before july. am at 12st now

pudding25 · 15/05/2011 16:05

Well done Pinkheart, that is amazing! I want to lose a stone by the end of July. I can't see myelf shredding today. Have been so busy and DD will bug me if I do it before she goes to bed. I may try and go for a walk though.

RoyalWelsh · 15/05/2011 21:48

Hi tibni, I'm taking the same sort of attitude with food, I don't want to have to feel like I'm depriving myself all the time!

Pinkheart well done! I bet you feel amazing!

I don't think I will shred today, I've driven for 8 hours and just want to sit on the bed and watch tv in the hotel room. I will try and do the moves before check out tomorrow though, get rid of some ofthe nerves :)

pudding25 · 15/05/2011 22:32

Good luck for tomorrow!

pinkheart · 15/05/2011 22:56

i do feel pretty good at the moment, i have been using myfitnesspal.com to track everything for the past 6 weeks also. i used to write everything down in a little notebook and then left it on a checkout one day as i had to take it out of my bag to reach further in for my purse. i was gutted i lost it and mortified that someone had read all my little comments, my weights and what i had been eating for months on end lol.
