Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Morning all - soooooooooooooooo hungover today. Met up with Dh and a couple of his old uni mates last night - way too much wine and curry consumed, but at least it was a fun night out. Weighed in this morning expecting a horror story only to find a pleasant surprise - am now 10 stone 2lbs so have somehow lost 4lbs over the last couple of weeks. Go figure. 2lbs off my target of 10 stone now.

Karma and Knotty well done on breaking through your barriers and hurrah on your stay the same JAM and loss Shaxx.

Karma - sorry you had such a rubbish day yesterday - hope today is a lot better. Iluv - you have to break that sugar addiction, you'll feel so much better for it. If its something sweet you want would a low fat yoghurt or berries (I love a mixture of strawberries, raspberries and blackberries) do the trick to give you a mini sweet hit. Get rid of all chocolate and biscuits etc in the house and then you cant be tempted by it. Knotty - sorry you're feeling rubbish - I too get v grumpy when I cant exercise. If you can, go for a walk in the sun - the sun will make you feel happier and the walk is gentle exercise. Vit c, zinc and ecchnicaea - and lots of water - are my recommendations fo ryou.

iluvcake · 06/05/2011 10:39

Morning all! WELL DONE Knotty and Karma-it's a real psychological boost when you break through a stone barrier. Keep going! Hope you feel better soon Knotty-I swear by a big dose of VitC, and squirts of that "First Defence" nasal spray-it's worked for me every time.

I am a bit Hmm this morning as I appear to have lost 1.5 lbs. I'm not sure how but I'm not complaining! I've had porridge this morning, 2 dates and 2 oatcakes with a smear of peanut butter. I've also got a 1.5litre bottle of water to work my way through. Difficult weekend ahead. Tonight a friend has invited me for fish and chips and dinner out tomorrow. Arrggghh!

However, JAM, I am determined to win our challenge at least once before we get to our goal weight!!

Have a good day everyoneSmile.

iluvcake · 06/05/2011 10:43

Oh and Dinky, well done too! Is there an easier way to remember what everyone has said? I keep having to scroll up and down-it takes ages to reply!

Hope you make a speedy recovery-the thought of having a hangover is just horrendous-haven't had one for years [boring emoticon!]-poor you. DH is at home for the same reason as you-getting in my way!!

LadyBuzz · 06/05/2011 11:50

Morning ladies, well done on the losses, STS and breaking of barriers.

Well I delighted and Shock to report I lost 3lb this week so back on track for my first personal goal of a stone by DDs christening which is next week and i have 2lb to go Smile.
I need to think of a second target after that!

knotty hope you feel better soon, and you too dinky

knottyhair · 06/05/2011 13:29

Wow, what great results this week! Loads of losses and no gains Smile. Thanks for all the tips for colds ladies, what a lovely lot you are Smile. I've taken my zinc and echinacea, made a honey & lemon concoction and have been eating satsumas, strawberries & blackcurrants. Dinky, hope your hangover has abated!

OP posts:
dinkystinky · 06/05/2011 13:44

Thanks guys - hangover has abated so made it to a mini-boxing class (only 30 minutes) at lunch and now trying to be virtuous with miso soup and tuna/salmon sashimi salad to make up for my excesses last night. Well done on your losses Ladybuzz and Iluvcake - great stuff!

Shaxx · 06/05/2011 14:28

iluvcake I always forget what people have said too! especially if half the posts are on another page so you can't just scroll up or down. Well done on your loss.

Dinky glad the hangovers abated and well done on exercise!
Knotty hope you feel better soon. Seems like you've done all the right things.
Ladybuzz thats a brill loss! Fingers crossed for your stone for next week Smile

knottyhair · 07/05/2011 09:49

Morning all. Dinky, good on you for doing a boxing class with a hangover! Feeling pretty rough this morning, sinuses playing up and very stuffy head. Got to go into town to meet mum & sister for lunch with DS, so the walk will do me good. Ended up having an Indian takeaway last night, just fancied a curry for medicinal purposes you understand Grin! Had king prawn dhansak, shared a saag paneer and some tarka dhal with DS and had 2 chapatis. Not too bad, but definitely over my allowance, but it's one day I guess. Will try to choose wisely at lunchtime and we've got the tuna burgers tonight that we were meant to have last night. Have a good weekend! xx

OP posts:
Shaxx · 07/05/2011 11:38

Knotty curry is definitely medicinal when it comes to colds and stuffy heads. It sounds yum. Enjoy lunch Smile

I've just been to the gym and had a healthy breakfast of yoghurt/grated apple/2 tablespoons muesli. Lunch will be a salad sandwich and dinner will be a chicken saag curry with rice.
I have to remember to keep drinking water today too.

Hope everyone has a good day.

justaminute · 07/05/2011 15:59

It's seems to be curries all round at the moment. I self sabotaged last night. Biscuits, chocolate, crisps and a curry were consumed. I blame the curry on dinky Wink she planted the seed! In comparison to the rest of the day the homemade curry was the healthiest thing I ate. Once I'd started on the rubbish stuff I couldn't stop myself going back for more.

Hopefully that is my weekend blowout out of the way and I'll remain on the straight and narrow until Friday. I'm just charging my ipod, I intend to go out for a run tonight since there is nothing on the box. I've just checked the fitness history and it has been a month since I last ran and conquered 5K, I'm hoping my body remembers what to do.

fedupofnamechanging · 07/05/2011 16:48

Hi everyone,

Am having a difficult day today. Have eaten freshly baked bread with jam and a fry's chocolate creme. Felt sick after eating each one. Do you think it's guilt?

Am having a very lazy day, just relaxing with the DC and watching DVD's and reading. The weather is awful here and no one wants to go out today.

Dinner is going to be chicken and veg stir fry, so healthy even if the rest of today's food hasn't been.

Hope you all enjoy the rest of the weekend

knottyhair · 07/05/2011 17:04

Shaxx, sounds like you're firmly in the zone! JAM, enjoy your run. Karma, are you logging your calories? Just asking because you might be able to fit in some bread & jam in your allowance, and maybe a little bit of chocolate? Sounds like a nice lazy day though Smile. The weather here isn't too bad, warm with the odd shower. Managed a ham salad with no dressing for lunch in the cafe, so that was OK. Not much appetite at the moment which is an upside of having a cold I suppose Smile.

OP posts:
fedupofnamechanging · 07/05/2011 19:08

Am logging my calories knotty. Think i could have had either, but not both. Have gone over my allowance by 87 so far. Have estimated 350 for a thickish slice of home made bread with a little bertolli and a little apricot jam. Does this sound about right? I've allowed 400 for dinner (chicken, prawn and veg stir fry) I'm clinging to the hope that if i don't go over for the rest of the week, then it might not affect Friday's weigh in.

justaminute · 07/05/2011 21:29

Karma don't be too hard on yourself. It's my guess that you are still way under the calorie allowance for maintaining weight. According to foodfocus my normal calories expenditure is 2089 calories whilst my target (aiming to lose 1.5lb per week) is 1340 so in my book I can overdo it by 749 calories and still be losing weight (just a bit slower though). I think I use the 749 calories excuse too often Grin . Homemade bread is delish too so you've done very well to stop at one slice, the mere smell of it is enough for me to put on weight.

Knotty - sorry to hear that dosing up on all those potions hasn't done the trick. Summer colds are pants.

iluv - I've looked back and I need to lose 2lb to be back to the weight I was pre dh's skiing holiday. How about you? Is the race still on to lose the skiing biffage?

A fairly good day has been had here. Drunk lots of water, had an incident with a cheesecake but had chicken fajitas (without the wrap for me) for dinner with lots of salad. Exercise wise I've managed to get out for a 30 minute run, albeit a bit slow at times. I haven't run for 4 weeks so I wasn't sure I'd be able to keep going but having done it I'm very chuffed (and exhausted). Hopefully I'll be able to move in the morning.

dinkystinky · 07/05/2011 21:39

Karma - I agree with JAM, dont be so hard on yourself. A slice of homemade bread isnt that awful - I'm a great believer in having a little bit of what you really fancy so it doesnt stop you going off the deep end. Have had a busy day sorting the house out - still so much stuff to do. Managed some home made rye bread and herrings for breakfast at 11 (!), a few cubes of goats cheese and some crackers and a diet coke at 4 and finally had dinner (spicy pork shoulder steak, lentils and salad with a glass of cider, followed by a small bowl of icecream) just now as have been sat furiously ebaying stuff. Sounds like you've had a good day JAM - running after 4 weeks off is definitely not fun. Have a nice long bath and stretch tonight and hopefully you'll be ok in the morning.

duckyfuzz · 07/05/2011 21:44

Sorry, I stated my intentions a week ago then didn't check back in Blush I have been super good all week, despite period, so am quite pleased with 3lb loss. Walked 12 miles today with kids from school, so have had takeaway and wine tonight, felt I'd earned it...this is how I end up having to diet Hmm

Will now catch up on everyone else's news

duckyfuzz · 07/05/2011 21:46

oh I see I'm not the only one on a curry pigout this week!

Karma I agree with others, its the overall calories per week that really matter and a bit of indulgence makes the rest of it easier to deal with

fedupofnamechanging · 07/05/2011 22:23

Thanks everyone. You've made me feel a bit better about today.

knottyhair · 08/05/2011 08:22

Duckyfuzz, great result Smile. Karma, glad you feel better. JAM, 30 min run sounds pretty impressive to me, you should be proud! Dinky, your menu for yesterday sounds laaarvely! I feel a bit better this morning although still a bit "cotton woolly headed" if that makes any sense! But not coughing as much. Had poached egg on toast for breakfast, ham salad wrap at a picnic for lunch (taking DS to a "falconry party" Hmm), then roasted veg & pasta for tea. Have a good one xx

OP posts:
Shaxx · 08/05/2011 10:08

Duckyfuzz well done on the loss! Thats a brill result.

Karma glad you feel better. You're bound to have more cals on some days but as long as you dont overdo it every day and stay at your weight loss allowance most days, you should be fine

Knotty glad you're on the mend.

Dinky I'm impressed with your home made rye bread! (though will pass on the herrings Smile)

JAM well done on the run! Its hard to get back into exercise after a break so thats excellent that you managed it.

I had an incident with a cheesecake yesterday too though it was a weightwatchers one and not as nice as a real one. I don't think I'll buy it again. I love cheesecake but they're so bad.

Today I've booked myself in for a spin class at 6.30pm. Its a bit of a rubbish time as I'm usually sorting out kids/clothes/bags etc but it will force me to be organised and get everything done early.

Todays food is
yoghurt, muesli, apple
sandwich (to take out for a walk/picnic if not raining)
lentils, rice, raita

Hope everyone has a good day!

fedupofnamechanging · 08/05/2011 10:15

Good morning everyone,

Am determined to have a good day to make up for yesterday, which was a bit disastrous on the diet front. Am taking the DC swimming in a minute, which won't be much exercise for me as I will be looking after DD (who is 3), but it will keep me away from the fridge for a couple of hours Smile

Have had yoghurt for breakfast. Dinner will be roast chicken and veg. Not sure about lunch, maybe soup.

Will not be eating the home made bread and will try to remember that it smells far nicer than it tastes. Will also not buy those mini weetabix with the choc chips again. I love them and am tempted to eat them(I did have a handful yesterday). Unfortunately 100g has nearly 400 calories!

Lesson learnt is to not buy what I cannot resist eating.

Have a great Sunday everyone

LadyBuzz · 08/05/2011 11:17

Karma the way i see it this time (having failed miserably in the past) is that I am in this for the long haul this time and if i constantly deprive myself of the things I like I will give up again. the odd day where you have a few naughty things aren't the end of the world if you compensate a few calories on other days. Don't be hard on yourself it is harder then you think it will be!

ducky well done on your loss.

I need to do my weeks meal plans and get shopping in for the week. I was very good last night DH and I went out for a few hours and I took the car to stop temptation!
Was going to go for a walk with the DCs but it looks like it might pour down at any minute so i might just rope DS1 into Just Dance on the wii!

iluvcake · 08/05/2011 15:05

JAM, I was 9st 6 before I went skiing in Feb and was feeling good! Weigh in on Friday I was 9st 9.5lb so I need to lose 3.5lb to get to where I was. However, that is before this weekend, which has been totally crapola food-wise. Well done on your run, that is brilliant considering you haven't done any running for a month!

Ducky, am Shock at your 12 mile walk-that's incredible-Well done on your loss too!

I was feeling a bit rough this morning. Not quite hungover but v. tired and craving carbs when I woke up after a night with friends that finished at 2.30am! I'm afraid that I succumbed. Feeling bloated and puffy just like the english muffins and croissant I consumedSad.

You will have to bear with me ladies, I'm not back in the zone yet!

knottyhair · 09/05/2011 10:39

Morning! Shaxx, how was your spinning class? Karma, hope you enjoyed your swim. Ladybuzz, did you "just dance"?? Grin iluvcake, don't know what your height is but 9st 9.5lbs doesn't sound too bad to me! But I guess we all have a weight we're happy with, whatever the BMI charts might say. Still feeling rough here, the cough seems to have kicked in again. Had to run back to the playground for a friend's DD's toy this morning and was "gargling my heart" to quote Jillian. Nice. So I'm trying to be extra good with food. Had a small piece of toast for breakfast, soup for lunch and I'm making a spicy sweet & sour pork with noodles & veg for tea. Have a good Monday xx

OP posts:
fedupofnamechanging · 09/05/2011 11:08

Hi everyone,

Sorry you are still feeling bad knotty. iluvcake, I am envious of your 9st 9.5lbs Smile.

The DC enjoyed swimming yesterday. I didn't do much because I was with DD, but it was lovely to see them all playing with their friends and having a good time.

Was okay with food yesterday. Had low fat yoghurt for breakfast, soup and a fry's choc creme for lunch (400 cals in total for lunch) and roast chicken with veg and a couple of new potatoes for dinner. Had a fat free ice lolly for a late snack.

Today I have had fresh pineapple and yoghurt for breakfast and have been on my cross trainer. will now make an effort to do it everyday, as I have been a bit neglectful of it in recent times. for the first time ever, it wasn't exhausting, so I must be making some progress on the fitness front!

Thanks for all your encouragement ladies. It really does help to keep me on the straight and narrow.

Hope you all have a good day
