Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Morning! JAM, well done on your 3 mile run, and it's great that you enjoyed it. Re: doing L2 as a warm-up, I think your brain's signals were spot on Grin. Following Dinky's advice, I did Davina's Top Fit this morning, and it was fine, certainly didn't set me off coughing! Didn't really feel like I worked too hard though, so think I'll shred tomorrow morning. Got to take the weekend off as we're going away Sat am for the night to friends. Hoping for a STS tomorrow but we'll see.... Had toast and a little peanut butter for breakfast, going to have beans on toast for lunch and some sort of beef noodle stir-fry with pak choi for tea - haven't decided on the recipe yet but this was DS's request after we got pak choi in our veg box last night. Have a good day xx

Well done on your run JAM, it does get addictive and gives you a brilliant feeling of energy.

knotty, glad to hear you're feeling better apart from AF issues-I empathise-just starting to get better with me!

Thanks for all the helpful suggestions re lunches. I didn't have time for porridge this morning and when I got back from the school run, was starving so had two slices of toast with butter and jam-not good. The trick is to not let myself get really hungry. A friend then popped in for coffee and I got some bourbons out of the cupboard but managed not to have one. Just going to keep myself busy today and drink lots of water to keep my mind off biffing.

Shaxx, really good idea re dinner, pudding then nothing. Am going to try that too.

Have a good day everyone!

dinkystinky · 12/05/2011 10:44

Well done on your run JAM - that's brilliant stuff! And glad you're feeling better Knotty - sounds like you're ready to shred again. Am off with work tonight for our offsite so will be firmly out of the zone - weighed myself this morning and still 10 stone 2lbs. Why is it the last 2lbs are the hardest to shift???

Shaxx · 12/05/2011 10:49

JAM well done on the run. I think running and cycling out in the open are really enjoyable exercises. I wish I had the confidence to cycle more but in London, I'm too scared of all the traffic.

Knotty glad you're feeling well enough to get back into exercise. Have a great time at your frinds.

iluvcake well done on only one bourbon. Good luck with the dinner, pudding then nothing. It really works if you tend to be an evening muncher (as long as your pudding is a small one and not a big wedge of cheesecake Grin I like to have a bit of icecream or yoghurt with fruit mostly). Then its a herbal tea in front of the tv later.

My 1000 cal challenge is going well thanks. Its actually been easier than it sounds. Maybe its because I'm in the zone at the moment. I think sticking to only 3 meals a day and no snacking really keeps the cals low. I can have 300 for breakfast and lunch then 400 for dinner which is fine really.

Hope you all have a good day.

Shaxx · 12/05/2011 10:50

Dinky well done on having a 'last 2lbs to shift'!
I'm finding every lb hard to shift. Grrr.

dinkystinky · 12/05/2011 11:08

Shaxx - it has taken me a bloody long time to get to the last 2 lbs!

LadyBuzz · 12/05/2011 20:23

dinky good on you getting to your last 2lbs fingers crossed they shift themselves soon!

I've had a very picky week so not holding out much hope for the 2lbs tomorrow but AF arrived today so that would explain it!

DH now won't find out until Monday if he still has a job, I hate them for making us wait another weekend.
But I still have my job Grin and I don't have to work with the horrible witch that has made my life hell for the last year when i go back from Mat leave and have been asked to apply for a much better job! I feel like the weight of the world has been lifted! Hopefully this will give me a boost to knuckle down and shift this weight!

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 07:42

Morning! Early weigh-in for me today - very small loss of a whole 0.25lb! Not surprised, with no exercise for a week, and a small amount of AF related nibbling meant I did go over my limit on a couple of days. Back to it on Monday with a vengeance. Was going to Shred this morning but we're away first thing tomorrow morning, and arranged last night to have one of my best friends round for dinner on Sunday eve. I've got an hour between getting back on Sunday afternoon, and our friends arriving so I need to shop and cook today for then, as well as the other million boring things I need to get done before I pick DS up from school. Have got very low cal mushroom soup for lunch and sticky pork fillet with a few new potatoes & salad for tea. Good luck everyone!

Missed that in my rush - Ladybuzz, hope you get some good news on Monday, but very glad you still have your job, and without the witch Smile!

fedupofnamechanging · 13/05/2011 08:10

Early weigh in for me too. Have lost a whole 4 oz! Oh dear.

Not sure what went wrong. I have, for the most part stuck to my calorie allowance and have done a little some cross training this week.

What do you all do when you don't lose any weight. Should I cut the calorie allowance down to 1100? Will get some exercise in today, because I know I'm not doing enough really. I wish I could be one of those people who gets addicted to exercise rather than chocolate, but at the moment I loathe it with a passion!

Hope everyone else has had good losses today. Wishing you all luck if you haven't stepped on the scales yet x

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 08:38

Karma, don't be too hard on yourself, it's still a loss, going in the right direction! I would say to check your calorie allowance, make sure you've input all the information correctly, it can be easy to make a mistake. I'm sure you are, but also make sure you input everything you eat, no matter now little the nibble is Smile. With regards to exercise, are you getting bored do you think? I know if I had to do the same thing all the time, I would get bored very easily and give up. For me it's about a) finding something that fits in with my life and b) variety. So workout DVDs are best for me as I can put it on as soon as I get in from the school drop off, and I have a ridiculous large selection so I don't get bored. Jillian Michaels ones are best for me as they are tough but short! But I've also got Davina ones, and Billy Blanks.

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 13/05/2011 08:59

karma do you measure yourself? I often find that if I hit a plateau then I seem to lose inches instead - it gives you a boost to see the results.
Well done on your losses they might be small but they are still losses!

Well I am again most surprised to have lost 3lbs again, no exercise but I have run around like a blue a* fly all week sorting stuff for the christening.

Tomorrow will be a massive test for me, I have to do a buffett for 100 people for Sunday without picking Shock

LadyBuzz · 13/05/2011 09:00

oh I forgot to say I hit my first stone AND fell into the 'overweight' category from 'Obese' Yay

justaminute · 13/05/2011 09:02

I'm really naffed off today. 2lb on here. What the heck do I have to do? I blow one day and this is my punishment?! I have a spa hen weekend tomorrow. I was hoping to look less flump like in my cossie. Not much chance of cutting back at the weekend either so next week's weigh in is likely to be a write off too. I'm sulking big time.

justaminute · 13/05/2011 09:04

x post with Ladybuzz - sorry I didn't mean to bring your joy down. Well done.

iluvcake · 13/05/2011 09:13

A 1lb gain hereSad. I suppose AF and no exercise apart from pilates for the last two weeks plus eating crap does have an effect! I have a huge roll of fat around my middle as I'm sitting here typing and I'm starting to panic about putting on a bikini in two weeks. We are away at friends for the weekend and it will be a food fest, I just know it-I'm going to have to keep an image of myself on the beach in my head!

LadyBuzz-fantastic news about your job! And the added bonus of not having to work with the be-atch! Pleased for you. Fingers X now for your DH!

Knotty & Karma-you've both lost so it's a good thing. You are going in the right direction. Knotty, just reading your post makes me feel like lying down-you are one busy lady!

Karma, sometimes you'll have a week like that. I'll bet next week you'll lose more. TBH, when I'm totally in the zone, I don't count calories, I just eat healthily, lots of good fats and cut out sugar and bread. Do you eat a lot of bread? Chocolate?(as one fellow chocaholic to anotherGrin). It makes a massive difference to me in terms of weight loss and energy levels.

Hope everyone else has a loss today!

iluvcake · 13/05/2011 09:20

x posts - justaminute Sorry to hear that. It's a bummer! You've done brilliantly apart from the one slip up as you say. I'm not sure what to suggest-some of the others are much better at analyzing what it is that might make a difference. Are you drinking plenty of water? I know you've been exercising so what could it be? 2lbs for one slip up doesn't seem to make sense. Just make sure that you don't go on a massive blow out because you're feeling p*ed off-that's the danger-KEEP GOING, YOU CAN DO IT .

LadyBuzz-fantastic-well done!!!

fedupofnamechanging · 13/05/2011 09:41

LadyBuzz Well done. 3lb is excellent, particularly when you've had job situations on your mind and it would be very easy to comfort eat. I'm glad to hear your good news about your job, especially the bit about not having to work with the nasty person any more and I hope that things go well for your DH on Monday.

I have just measured my waist (34inches), so will keep an eye on that in the future.

jam and iluvcake, sorry for your gains.

knotty, wrt calorie counting I must admit that I don't always know exactly how many calories are in home made meals, but I am cooking them without any oil/butter, have reduced portion sizes, increased vegetables and when I estimate calories I try to over rather than under estimate. Do you think I am guessing correctly? For ex, yesterday I had 4 vegetable fingers (I knew the calories for these were 240), plus asparagus, courgette, mushrooms and onions so in total 350 calories at a guess. For home made chicken and veg soup I say between 350 and 400 calories. Everything with the calories on the packet, I log as soon as I've eaten it.

I do eat a bar of choc everyday, but account for it in the calorie allowance.

I am very bored with exercise and absolutely hate it. Have yet to find anything I like. I do have a drawer full of exercise DVD's, so think I might have to revisit some of them whether i like it or not.

Oh, and I've had a crunchie for breakfast, which was very naughty, but I was feeling a bit peed off.

Anyway, enough moaning from me. Hope today gets better for everyone.

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 10:25

LadyBuzz, wow, great loss, and well done on dropping down a category Smile. I bet you feel amazing! Good luck for the buffet tomorrow! A little of what you fancy won't hurt. JAM, try not to let it get you down (easier said than done, I know). And just because this weekend will be "difficult" doesn't mean you'll get a bad result next week. Great advice from iluvcake about not pigging out because you feel bad, you'll only feel worse. iluv, I know exactly what you mean about going to friends. My lovely mate is making me an early birthday cake when we visit tomorrow, and although I know it's a lovely thing to do, the control freak in me is thinking "noooooooo!". How ridiculous. Karma, draw a line under your crunchie Smile. And as you say, I'd think the calorie estimates you gave were over if anything - not sure what to advise. Hopefully somebody else will be more help Blush. And go on, dig out a DVD and give it a go, and if you fancy a new one, give Jillian a go - I dare you!!

OP posts:
fedupofnamechanging · 13/05/2011 10:55

Have given Jillian a go. Thought I might die. It was very hard to concentrate because my 3 year old DD was standing next to me doing star jumps and using her brother's cars as weights, so she could join in. I was collapsing with laughter as well as exhaustion.

I have an old Angela Griffin DVD, which I remember quite liking (as much as it's possible to like an exercise DVD), so will dig that out today and I also have a load from my SIL, who is constantly buying new fitness things and then getting bored (rather like me!)

iluvcake · 13/05/2011 11:01

karma-just a thought. Could it be that you are overestimating your calories too much and maybe not eating enough? I know over the years we've all be brainwashed into thinking less is better but it seems that if you eat too little, your metabolism slows down as your body goes into "starvation mode" and holds onto every single calorie.

When I did WW/SW, they were always banging on about it and if someone hadn't lost weight, they were going "Have you eaten enough, have you had all your healthy extras etc?"

knotty-how lovely of your friend (but frustrating for you!). Hopefully she won't make you have a huge slice!!

iluvcake · 13/05/2011 11:04

X posts! She's a killer, that Jillian!! Well done-it's hard but it works!

iluvcake · 13/05/2011 11:11

Right, am going to start posting what I've eaten as I can feel myself sliding into biffing mode again today. This is the only way I'm going to get back into the zone. Feel free to shout at/praise me as necessary!

Breakfast-porridge/banana/almond slivers
Snack-two bourbons/coffee
Another snack-Kellogs crispy caramel square/coffeeBlush-the starting of biffing hence my post!

Popping into town so for lunch might grab packet of M&S ham or sushi.

Taking DS for a play and tea at a friends house after school. Am hoping it is only tea for kids as she is doing pizza. However, she's trying to lose weight too so hopefully it's just for the kids so:-
Dinner-not sure ATM (possibly chicken salad).

Lots of water.

knottyhair · 13/05/2011 11:54

Karma, just another suggestion, I've never really been one for following recipes as such but I've found it much easier to keep track of what I'm having if I do. Takes the guesswork out of it. May I be boring and recommend the BBC Good Food site again Grin?

OP posts:
fedupofnamechanging · 13/05/2011 15:08

knotty I love the BBC food site and do pick bits and pieces from it.

Today I am going to have a quorn cottage pie for dinner, because the calories are on the box and I am lazy.

iluvcake, sadly I don't think I am under eating. I just don't think I am physically capable of depriving myself of food and get all wobbly if I'm hungry. I think I probably need to do more exercise but I really don't want to and will avoid it at any opportunity. So probably my own fault that I'm not losing much.
I think the ham or sushi sounds good for lunch as does the chicken salad for dinner. I think the caramel square or the bourbons would have been better than both but are not disastrous in the context of having a low calorie lunch and dinner.

I think the breakfast is probably quite high calorie, but sounds very healthy.
