knottyhair · 24/04/2011 07:31

Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

Hi all and welcome back Karma. Don't be too hard on yourself when you get on the scales. I think from time to time we've all fallen off and none of us are here to judge, but we are here to give you a big hug and lots of encouragement.

I have not been that good as my LO was in A&E on Friday with a fever and an all over body rash. So had cheese and toast on the hoof, with lots of butter, then a kitkat Blush, then ate loads of crappy food again yesterday as he needed lots of attention, so it was a case of grab and eat, which crappy food is so easy for. Plan on being good today as the LO is much better, still a bit moody, but his fever has gone and he has started laughing and wanting to play again, not so clingy today.

Plan on doing a long walk to get us out in the fresh air.

JAM Oh yeah you really know how to live...lol Grin. Didn't someone mention ages ago that we sould build in treats into our plan, like massages or days out etc. I don't think many of us have been doing that, maybe we should and then we really would be living Smile not just sweating it out.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend xx

knottyhair · 07/08/2011 08:38

Morning! JAM, oh it's all you you you, treating yourself to a Shred and the ironing in one evening. Hope you are now planning some self-flagellation as penance Grin. TDW, glad your LO is OK now, it's so scary when that happens. Hope you enjoy your walk, and you're right about treats. I keep thinking I'll book a massage or something, then end up spending the money on something "useful" instead.

My parents are coming over for lunch today then taking DS back with them for a sleepover whilst we go and see Harry Potter this evening. Just doing roast chicken, new potatoes & salad for lunch and DS is making a mandarin cheesecake - it was a bit of a family joke when I was growing up that the only pud my mum used to make was this, so we thought it would amuse her that her grandson now makes it. I'll only have a tiny bit though - very fattening and I'm not that bothered about it anyway. No Killian this morning, going to take this as my weekly day off, as I've got hiding stuff under furniture housework to do before parents arrive. Have a lovely day x

fedupofnamechanging · 07/08/2011 09:05

Thanks TDW. Glad your little boy is getting better.

Hope you enjoy Harry Potter knotty. Have seen it twice now (once in 3D) Blush. Thought it was very good, but it's a shame that not everything in the book is included.

Shaxx · 07/08/2011 09:40

TDW How scary for you. Glad your ds is better. You're right about the treats. I think I could do with some. I might book myself a massage. I'm going to get my eyebrows threaded today but thats a neccessity rather than a treat.

JAM its a shame dh spoiled your torturous treat. Well at least you managed to indulge in the ironing lol.

Karma don't feel bad. Just get on those scales, face reality and get back to it. I just went through a couple of weeks of overeating and faced up to a 4lb gain. It happens. I feel so much better getting back to healthy eating and exercise.

Knotty I love the mandarin cheesecake joke Grin. I'm sure your mum will love it. Enjoy the film.

I've had a really nice couple of days chilling in parks. On friday I went to Greenwich with a friend and her kids. Its such a lovely park and the kids had so much fun rolling down hills, playing with sticks and unripe conkers and building birds nests. Yesterday we went to a local park and are trying to teach ds1 how to ride his bike without his stabilisers. He's very wobbly at the moment!
I think we're going to go back to have another session on the bikes today.
I love summer holidays Grin

Hope you all have a good day.

knottyhair · 08/08/2011 07:34

Morning! Shaxx, I'm being thick but what does eyebrow threading involve?? And your days in the park sound lovely - I love Greenwich Park.

Had a lovely day with my parents yesterday and mum enjoyed her cheesecake! Really liked the film. We were really hungry when we came out and ended up getting a kebab of all things! I had a small chicken one with lots of salad and chilli - twas very nice! Went over a bit as a result but there you go. Going to do a L2 Shred in a bit, then walking into town to meet DS with my parents. Lunch in Pret then doing "Easy Prawn Korma" tonight with rice and runner beans from my mum's garden and yellow beans from our garden. Could be a windy night Grin. Have a good one x

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 08/08/2011 20:34

Knotty so glad you asked the question, because I don't know what eyebrow threading is either Confused. So come on Shaxx what does that involve?

Hope everyone is having a good day, take care xx

Shaxx · 08/08/2011 21:22

Grin Threading is a hair removal technique that is done using just a thread! Its quite clever and very quick. Much quicker than tweezing.
You'll find it mostly in Asian salons or some really expensive ones like House of Fraser. It costs £17 in house of fraser and £2.50 in a nearby Asian salon!

justaminute · 08/08/2011 21:26

Another one here interested to hear about the threading experience. I'm having my brows waxed and lashes tinted tomorrow. I have really short, fair eyebrow hair I've wondered whether threading would give the same effect as waxing but I've never braved it. The threading chairs I have seen have been in the shopping precint or middle of a dept store, it all seems a bit exposed for my liking.

I've struggled to get my bum off the sofa today. Dcs are with the gps for a few days - it was all arranged so that I could work for full days to do my hours but now I'm jobless I'm at a loose end. There are lots of things that need doing around the house and garden but I just can't motivate myself. I ate far too many mini rolls which just compounded the issue.

I did redeem myself a little by going for a run to the train station to meet dh. I've got out of the running habit (I hadn't been for a run for a month) but I was pleased to manage 27 minutes albeit a very slowly. My legs can feel it now. I'm hoping to have more oomph tomorrow although I'm meeting dh in the evening for a meal out - making the most of no children.

justaminute · 08/08/2011 21:27

doh! x post. £2.50? Really? Bargain!!!! Show me where to go.

knottyhair · 09/08/2011 09:42

Shaxx, does it hurt? I'm such a wimp, I've never even plucked my eyebrows, so am a bit nervous of having something done and suddenly looking like Shane Warne. JAM, hope you feel more motivated today, but don't be too hard on yourself. Losing your job is difficult to deal with and letting yourself have a bit of "time off" won't hurt. Well done on the run though! Enjoy your meal tonight - are you going anywhere nice?
Did a L2 6W6P this morning with 3kg weights - jesus. Exciting day planned consisting of Waitrose followed by another ascent of Mt Ironing. Looking after DS's friend this afternoon and he's sleeping over so at least DS is having a nice time! Soup for lunch today and haven't decided on tea yet. Hope everyone has a good day x

dinkystinky · 09/08/2011 11:30

Hello all - back from Wales (where there was much biffing and quaffing - but no internet) and now at MIL's in Brighton - so still out the zone but its in sight. Have a lovely meal out JAM - if your DC are at the grandparents, get out there and blitz the garden while the sun is out then treat yourself to a lovely bath and glass of wine this afternoon - so decadent Grin Sorry again you got made redundant - but am a firm believer in karma and something good is bound to be around the corner for you now. TDW, hope your little one is better. Karma welcome back - and Knotty, sounds like you're back in the Jillian zone Grin

dinkystinky · 09/08/2011 11:31

ps a big fan of threading here - only really seem to need to do it every 6 months or so. And is soooooo cheap in an asian salon.

justaminute · 09/08/2011 15:48

Nice to see you popping in Dinky. Quaffing and biffing is definitely allowed on holiday.

Thank you for continuing with the sympathy ladies. I'm putting a brave face on but underneath I'm petrified about the future, more mentally iykwim than financially [scared]. Anyhow, today has been better. I was booked in for my brows and lashes at 9 which got me up and out of bed. I even fitted in a shred Shock before I went. I'm very pleased with the result. I may brave threading next time especially if I can find an asian treatment room. I then spent an hour in the coffee shop reading the papers, drinking latte and working my way through a big packet of Galaxy counters Blush.

I also had a mooch aroud the charity shops and got a couple of dresses for my holiday. A Monsoon summer dress and a brown linen Boden shirt dress, £17 for both - bargain! The Boden dress is a 12 Grin the buttons do gape when I sit down so I'll have to lose a few more pounds or just not sit down in it Smile

Off to do a bit of hoovering then to meet dh - think we might be doing tapas.

Shaxx · 09/08/2011 21:49

JAM ahhh don't be scared. I agree with Dinky that somethings better around the corner. Everyone I know who got made redundant looks back on it as something really positive even though at the time it seemed really bad. Dh included. What are you petrified of?
Anyway you sound like you had a lovely day.

Knotty it really depends on who does the threading. Sometimes it hurts and sometimes it doesn't but the worst of the pain is that it feels like someones plucking about 5 hairs at a time.

I've got pmt so had a bit of a binge today. I'm saying no more.

Hope everyone had a good day.

thedogwalker · 10/08/2011 10:17

Hi all

Jam sending hugs and you have all our support if you need it. Onwards and upwards Smile.

Hi Dinky glad you had a good time, with all the work you've been doing, you deserved the break.

Shaxx I'm your partner in crime with the binge PMT eating, I don't often eat bread, bought a huge cheesey loaf yesterday, can't stop eating it.

Hope everyone is well. Take care xx

justaminute · 10/08/2011 16:38

I could have done with a lie in this morning after last night but I heard the window cleaner in the street at 8am - ggrrr I had to get up and make myself presentable for fear of him peeping through the curtains Blush

Shaxx - I'm scared of not finding something to suit my skills, that I'm seen as fussy because I want to work school hours, of being interviewed and mostly I'm scared I will go crazy once I'm home alone for a long period. I'm hoping to look back and laugh at this post in the future.

TDW you've made me realise that af is due in a week so I think my munchies might be pmt related too. That and boredom. Intending to shred later and possibly a run although it is very windy. If I plan my route right I might get blown around Smile

knottyhair · 10/08/2011 16:55

JAM, wishing you lots of love & luck, it will all work out, I can feel it in my water Grin! Have spent the day today cleaning - DP owns a few student houses so I went to give him a hand getting ready for the new intake. No time for Jillian this morning as a result but did spend most of the day scrubbing and mopping, just as well as I ended up eating 5 chocolate rich teas during the day, then 2 more plain ones when we picked DS up from my friend's just now Blush. Hope everyone's PMT munchies are abating. Looking forward to my burger & salad later.

BelleEnd · 10/08/2011 23:32

Hello everyone! The BelleEnd is back! :o Haven't checked in, or indeed eaten healthily, for a few weeks now- Had loads of musicians staying over and then had a week of gigging. I drank and smoked. It was tremendous fun! It's back on the wagon time, though I am completely shocked (and delighted!) only to have gained two pounds! I have no idea how, I was scoffing pizza and maccy ds and guinness...
Hope you're all doing well x

thedogwalker · 11/08/2011 09:24

Sounds like you had loads of fun Belle, it all sounds so glamorous Envy and 2 lbs is great. Just shows that it's good to keep the body guessing.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

BelleEnd · 11/08/2011 10:49

Glam it was not. The "fell asleep in a tent after six pints of guinness and a double gin and ooooh I've forgotten my make up bag at home" look is a pretty manky one, I can tell you :o

knottyhair · 11/08/2011 11:32

BelleEnd, still more glamorous than my day yesterday, cleaning a student house. I think you know a house is dirty when you have to hoover the walls Grin. Well done on the 2lb gain - that's pretty impressive for such a good time!

Did NMTZ this morning and man, it was tough going. Soup for lunch today and making sweet & sour prawns & veg with noodles for tea tonight. Hope everyone's OK. TDW - how's your back?

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 12/08/2011 07:56

Morning all. My back is still not good, Doctor gave me lots of different tablets to take, that I feel like a walking chemist. So I'm going to a chiropractor today, Ive heard they are really good, so fingers x.

JAM how you feeling today, hope being at home is getting easier, don't despair honey, it's just a bit of time out, a bit of well deserved you time before going back to the rat race and don't be in too much of a rush to get back there.

Belle sorry but gigging still sounds glam to me Grin.

Well I'm a sts this week, but I've done no exercise, lots of overeating (half a pack of ginger biscuits last night) Blush and AF is here, so I'm happy with that, it will probably all catch up with me next week Hmm.

Hope everyone is well.

knottyhair · 12/08/2011 08:48

Morning! Sorry your back is giving you so much trouble TDW - hope the chiropractor helps.

I'm also a STS this week - these last couple of pounds are proving difficult to shift! Haven't managed to exercise every day, plus I was over at the weekend, and there was Biscuitgate on Weds Blush. Got a funny week coming up as well - my friend and her 2 DCs staying this weekend, out all day Monday visiting my aunt in Hertfordshire, then off to Germany/Austria very early Friday morning, so not sure how much exercise I'll fit in. May have to just be happy with the way I am until I'm back from holiday and try not to balloon too much whilst I'm away! Good luck everyone x

OP posts:
knottyhair · 12/08/2011 08:48

Oh and well done on STS, TDW Smile!

OP posts:
justaminute · 12/08/2011 09:15

Another STS here too. Was hoping for a miraclulous weight loss as I'm off on holiday on Friday but my heart isn't in it. (the weight loss not the holiday)

TDW - hope the back pain improves - biscuit binging was in the air last night - I attacked a packet of chocolate fingers - woops.

Belle - sounds like you enjoyed yourself. Your exploits make me feel old and mumsy - I can't imagine acting like a student anymore.

Knotty - you have every right to be happy with the way you are - you've done fantastic! Enjoy your holiday.
