knottyhair · 24/04/2011 07:31

Hope it's OK that I've started this new thread, but the old one is now full! Not sure if my entry went on the old one, but anyhoo - let's keep going people! Here's to eating tasty healthy food, finding and sticking with exercise we enjoy and getting fitter, stronger & hopefully slimmer! xx

I didn't feel hardcore when I was struggling this morning TDW ! Hope your knee gets better, take it easy.
Just to say the lemon chicken recipe from old Killian's book was bloody gorgeous! DS had seconds. If anyone wants the recipe, let me know.

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 31/07/2011 20:51

Knotty you know me, I always want your recipes, so yes please tell all.

Had a lovely 2 hour walk today pushing the pram and then baked a cake this afternoon. Taking it to work tomorrow for us to eat during our Monday morning meeting, yum yum.

Hope everyone has had a great weekend.

knottyhair · 01/08/2011 08:25

Here goes TDW - Whisk together a bit of lemon zest, juice of about half a lemon, some chopped basil or oregano, 2 tsp honey, 2 tsp Dijon mustard, 1 large minced garlic clove and some salt & pepper. Add 40ml olive oil in a steady stream, whisking constantly. Set aside. Put 4 chicken breasts between some clingfilm or waxed paper and flatten slightly with a rolling pin or meat mallet so they're an even thickness. Put them in a dish in a single layer and cover with half the dressing, and leave for between 2-8 hours, turning at least once. Stir a few chopped olives into the remaining dressing. Get a non-stick pan or a grill pan and spray with oil (or just use a tiny bit), and cook the chicken until done (about 5 mins each side). Serve the chicken drizzled with the remaining dressing. 228 cals. We had it with new potatoes and salad. Hope it's OK! What cake did you make?
Didn't Shred today as we all slept in a bit and I need to clear up before my friend arrives to cut my hair - the house is a tip! I shall clean HARD and "walk briskly" to Waitrose and back later! Had fruit bread & goat's cheese/yoghurt for breakfast, mushroom soup for lunch and ribs with salad & roasted new potatoes for tea! Have a good one everybody!

knottyhair · 02/08/2011 17:13

Very quiet on here today! Hope everyone's been sweating cobs, bloody humidity enjoying the sunshine. Had a nice day today - Shredded first thing, then DS has a friend here most of the day and they were in and out of the paddling pool. Managed to roast some rhubarb which I had a bit of after lunch with some fat free yoghurt. Had a smoked ham/goat's cheese wrap for lunch and we've got whore's spaghetti & salad for tea.

OP posts:
thedogwalker · 02/08/2011 21:27

Knotty you've got to tell me what whore's spaghetti is, never heard of it Hmm.

I made a fat free chocoate sponge cake, quite boring on its own really, so made chocolate butter icing to put in the middle and all over the top of it. My work pals ate the whole cake, so they must have liked it, or they're not choosey.

Been very busy at work today, which is why I didn't post earlier, today was that bad it felt like a monday, boo hoo.

Hope everyone else is well and glad you're feeling better Knotty keep up the good work of keeping this thread alive Grin. speak tomorrow, ta ta x

knottyhair · 03/08/2011 08:04

TDW , Whore's spaghetti is spaghetti puttanesca - putta is Italian for "lady of the night". It's just a tomato sauce with garlic, olives, capers, sometimes chilli. Apparently the ladies would cook & eat it as it was quick, easy & cheap and then they could get back out there! So did you have some cake as well? Sound very nice... Hope you have a better day today.
I'm baking today as well. Have a few too many courgettes so I'm doing a chocolate cupcake recipe from Waitrose that uses courgette instead of fat - I'll report back! I've made a sweet cake with courgette before, and beetroot, so hopefully it'll be OK! Either soup or salad wrap for lunch depending on how hot it gets, and going to try Cook Yourself Thin's thai green prawn curry for tea. Going to do 4 circuits of No More Trouble Zones with a cardio circuit inbetween each one in a minute... any minute now... just need to get my gear on... anytime now... I'm like a coiled spring....

oooh Blush Blush i'm having a baaaaad week! I seem to have clicked into holiday mode a week early Blush
I also have pmt which is not helping in the slightest.

I really am on holiday next week! New start the week after for me.

How is everyone and their DCs feeling now? much better I hope.

knottyhair · 04/08/2011 07:54

Hi LadyBuzz, are your DCs better now? How's potty training going? blocks out memory of DS peeing round the house like a rat And I know how hard it is with PMT to combat the nibbling. When you say baaaaad week, how baaaaad? A couple of dodgy days won't sabotage you too much. Try and get back in the zone until your holiday, you'll feel so much better. Where are you off to?
Have to say, the CYT curry last night was lush. Going to do NMTZ again this morning I think but a different set of circuits. Very wet here, so definitely soup for lunch and haven't sorted out tea yet - got to do the meal planning for the next few days this morning. Feel like curling up on the sofa with DS I must admit, but I'll go and get my gear on and get it over with!

OP posts:
LadyBuzz · 04/08/2011 08:32

thanks knotty! fairly horrific couple of days eating wise and no exercise but i am going to get back into the zone until Monday when i will relax while we are away. We are only away 4 days so back into the zone after that!
We are just going to blackpool, its fairly close for us and the boys will enjoy it i'm sure.
Potty training is coming on slowly he even got up at 1:30am to go on the potty even though he sleeps in a nappy - Very proud Grin
both poorly DCs seem to be alot better now thank goodness!

Its pouring down here so a day of packing for me i think!

justaminute · 04/08/2011 11:35

Ladybuzz I'm with you on the baaadness. The dcs were with my mum for a few days and I found it hard to get out of bed motivate myself. Yesterday I attempted Level 1 of the Shred and it was hard after more than a week of no exercise and I'm still not 100%. Dcs are back now so I have to get up and do stuff which is helping to lift the gloom.

Thanks Knotty and TDW for keeping the thread moving, I was lurking Blush

Shaxx · 04/08/2011 19:09

Baaadness here too Blush
After I said I had extra reason to lose weight I sort of lost my way a bit. It started off with a 2 day migraine and not being able to eat anything and went on to 'I need to stuff myself silly to make up for it and get more energy'

Back to it tomorrow!

Glad to see the thread going. I'd be lost without it Smile

thedogwalker · 04/08/2011 20:13

OMG, it seems it's been a week of baaadness for most of us. I was really busy yesterday and one of the clerks brought a whole tin of biscuits into work. I ate 3 large chocolate covered ones Blush, but that was just the start. By the evening I was craving more sugar and it was only as i was stuffing the 2nd chocolate digestive into my mouth that Dinky popped into my head, saying mindful eating not mindless eating. So thanks Dinky because I stopped at the 2. Bloody sugar, devil's food.

Hope we can all kick ourselves up our own butts and start again Grin.

Good luck for weigh in tomorrow, I defo need it.

Shaxx · 04/08/2011 20:42

[tries but can't quite reach own butt]

Guess someone will have to do it for me. Dinky?? Knotty?? Help??

LadyBuzz · 04/08/2011 21:49

Grin i feel good that i can admit to you ladies though!!

knottyhair · 04/08/2011 22:57

Right, bend over Shaxx..... got my biker boots on.... ready..... UUUUUUGGGGGGH! Was that hard enough Grin?

OP posts:
Shaxx · 05/08/2011 07:49

Ouch! Grin
I needed that.
I have braved the scales and 4lbs on! Grrr. Totally my fault.
I've got back into that vicious cycle where I've been eating rubbish. I feel lethargic because of it then crave more rubbish to get more energy.

I'm going to follow that Zoe Harcombe for the next few days to try to get out of this slump.

So today I'm having
omelette with onion, peppers and mushrooms
salmon and veg
brown rice and stir fried veg

lots of plain yoghurt.

knottyhair · 05/08/2011 10:11

Shaxx, you know where it went wrong, and you've got strategies to get back in the zone (and your food sounds really nice!). You'll do it! My scales show a quarter of a lb gain, can I count that as an STS Grin ?? Had a lot a bit of PMT nibbling this week and then AF arrived yesterday so I'm not worried. I've learned over the past 7 months that it really is better to look at the results over a month rather than a week and that as long as I'm not steadily gaining even a little bit every week, I'm trying to chill out about any small blips. Did 6W6P L1 this morning. Going to have soup for lunch and we're having an Indian takeaway tonight, as DS is sleeping over at his friends and we fancy a treat. Trying to estimate it on MFP to stay within my allowance but it will be a bit of guess work. Good luck everyone!

OP posts:
Shaxx · 05/08/2011 11:23

Bah a 1/4 is nothing. I think you can count it a sts. Its prob just a bit of extra water or something.

I have only just got back on the wagon today and have only had a low carb/low sugar breakfast and its amazing how much better I feel!
I have more energy already.

I should actually never eat sugar or junk food ever. It's really not worth it for me. The problem is that it doesn't take much for me to get back into that cycle. All it takes usually is one meal out or something.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

thedogwalker · 05/08/2011 13:40

Hi everyone.

Knotty that is so a sts Grin esp with AF as well.

Shaxx You're doing the right thing and identifying your weakness and doing something about it. I totally agree with you about the sugar thing, a little bit just makes you crave more and more.

Well after messing up on MFP and putting myself down on there as 2lbs heavier than I was when I started, I've finally sorted myself out and can now count Blush. Even so, I think I may be burning off more calories than MFP is saying that I am, as I've been under my allowance 6 out of the 7 days, but only by 20 calories or so and one day I was 300 calories over, and I've lost 3 lbs this week, when I'm only supposed to lose 1 lb a week. I'm not complaining, I just want to make sure that I'm losing healthily Hmm.

Hope everyone else is well xx

knottyhair · 05/08/2011 14:00

That's great TDW! Fab loss Smile

OP posts:
justaminute · 05/08/2011 14:49

Definitely a STS the same Knotty. I only deal in whole numbers, rounding up and down to the nearest number. I'm half a pound on but by my theory I'm a STS Wink

Shaxx- totally with you on one day/ meal throwing me off kilter. I'm doing OK today but I have a BBQ to attend tomorrow which may prove fatal. Dh is out tonight so I may attempt a double shred. It is that or the ironing - a tough call. Such an exciting Friday night, I know how to rock and roll!

LadyBuzz · 05/08/2011 16:36

knotty snap 1/4 on here too so STS for me AF due Sunday too so i'm happy with that.

TDW fab loss well done you

I must have burned a few calories today from packing and trying to sort out the shit heap spare room which we are moving the play room into - not the best plan 2 days before we go away Hmm

fedupofnamechanging · 05/08/2011 20:23

Hi all,

Sorry for dropping off the face of the planet wrt this thread. I am a shit dieter and have fallen off the wagon spectacularly. Am building up to having another crack at it. Too scared to get on the scales.

Hope you are all well and sticking to your diets. Haven't caught up with the thread properly yet and have been gone so long, I have a stack of reading to do!

knottyhair · 06/08/2011 07:21

Morning! JAM and LadyBuzz , well done on STS. So, JAM did you go for double Shred Shock or ironing? (Not sure which is worse actually Grin ). Welcome back Karma ! Sorry you fell off the wagon, but the sooner you get back on it, the better you'll feel.

Speaking of which however, I'm sure I went way over last night. DP didn't fancy a curry so we ordered Chinese (I did that stupid thing of saying "you choose, I don't mind..." when I clearly did mind Grin ). I couldn't decide what to order so decided to just get my favourite Salt & Peppercorn Chilli King Prawn which I'm pretty sure is loaded with calories but it was bloody lovely! I didn't order anything else, just had a small portion of DP's fried vermicelli. Then had a mango ice lolly. Then had a bit of chocolate. Back to it today though. Going to do a L3 Shred before I pick up DS from his friend's house. Ordered some Tom Yum soup last night for lunch today, and we've got marrow stuffed with bolognese sauce and new potatoes for tea. Onwards & upwards! Have a good weekend x

OP posts:
justaminute · 06/08/2011 11:12

oooh Knotty, I haven't had chinese for ages, that sounds delish!
Dh came home early when I was in the throws of Level 1. I didn't fancy doing another level with an audience so I did the ironing instead. as I say - I know how to live!
