shocked and in tears. I joined up on my own, I was utterly terrified. It's a massive group, I think there were at least 40 people there who stayed and another 20 that didn't stay.

I haven't been on the scales for 3 years and I have a stone a year to show for it.

I am now 11st over my ideal weight and I am shit scared for my health.

My goodness, i'd like to say it feels good but right now I am overwhelmed. The diet looks great but I have simply got so much to lose. I met a woman tonight who has lost 6.5 stone-she is still bigger than I am but she gave me hope. It's taken her since Jan last year.

I start to eat right tomorrow-for tonight it's a glass of wine and an early night.

Which thread do you recommend I join for support along the way? I will need it.

well done fish Grin im really pleased for you!!!

thanks for educating me ladies, BESH doesnt have the nicest of meanings but its good to know its not as scary as it sounds Smile im certainly not one, im 22 Blush

been really good today, working tomorrow, first proper day, start at 6.45 Shock ive not been awake before 8am for a veerrryyy long time, my dcs like their sleep, gonna be a shock to the system, but it will keep me fit and stop me having an opportunity to snack, so all good

Hedgepig · 13/04/2011 22:02

evening all. How many syns do we think are in DS1s leftover chips, chicken nuggets and beans (FREE ! Grin) and a glass of vino-di-plonko! I think I fell of the diet wagon a bit this evening. DH has been away all week, it was football training tonight for DS1 and then he was hungry hence the chip shop Ho hum its another day tomorrow Smile. OH and we went out to lunch for my colleagues retirement (it would have been rude not to). Weigh in tomorrow methinks I will not have done so well this week

stinky I has my 1st at 37 and 2nd at 42 (I'm bloody knackered Grin)
Fish well done you a whole stone, fab
JJ I hope it goes well with the new job tomorrow.
zarzar I trird Rosemary Conley about 15 yrs ago, I mnaged about 2 weeks it was very hard, I'm liking the SW diet though. I have also lost a stone and need another 3 too.

fishandlilacs · 14/04/2011 08:58

I had fish and chips the other day. It's 17.5 syns for a small portion. I reckon i had a portion fit for giants.

fishandlilacs · 14/04/2011 09:01

Oh and stinky and hedgep-It's really good to hear of you guys having children older, i i know it's definately not the norm but it's comforting, as time goes on i feel too old but I have never seen myself with only one child. As much as i adore her.

I am hoping a bit of weight loss will help in the TTc department, not only will I feel more inclined to jump on DH (body confidence has meant we have sex only about once or twice a month) but hopefully it will be easier. Now If I can just get him to give up the fags....

SenSationsMad · 14/04/2011 09:01

I'm wondering if my husband is trying to sabotage my diet???? Hmm

Yesterday I was really good - I'm trying to save some sins for a 21st b'day party on Saturday, I went for a bath, and DH brought me a mug of hot chocolate. "Is it a highlights hot choc?" I asked hopefully. "No, " says he " Don't drink it if you don't want it"

Grrrrrrr. Would've been rude not to really Blush

I only had around four cups of tea yesterday so I suppose I had milk left out of my allowance, but three heaped spoons of coco powder is gonna be a lot isn't it. Bum.

SenSationsMad · 14/04/2011 09:06

Hi Ilove [waves] How's it going?

fishandlilacs · 14/04/2011 10:42

Classiv rookie DH mistake, mine kept buying the wrong bread. "but surely granary is wholemeal?"

yes but the nuts and seeds in it add massively to the calorie count!

xkatyx · 14/04/2011 18:13

Hi everyone,

im just starting SW finding it all rather confussing at the mo.

I have joined online as i have 3 children 1 being a newborn so really dont have time to go to meetings.

what would you reccomend extra easy ( which does sound very easy) green or red.

ilovewaldorfandstatler · 14/04/2011 18:26

hey SSM. doing ok. dissertation from hell was submitted and now have to revise fro 2 exams. roll on 12th may when my life will only belong to placements Smile

fishandlilacs · 14/04/2011 20:36

Hiya katyx, welcome and good luck with your plan. Theres another thread here on SW for people not going to groups. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/1189036-Busty-Babe-With-GSOH-Seeks-SW-Partner-for-Weigh-Ins-Bad-Jokes-Barely-Veiled-Self-Loathing

I recommend extra easy-I have lost a stone in a month doing that. Once you get your head round it, it's really easy. All, eggs, lean meat, skinless and fatless, fish with no skin and all your vegetables and fresh fruit are free foods. All your carbs, pototoes, rice, cous cous, noodles, pasta is also free. EE plan includes 1 small weighed portion of cereal/bread and one small portion of milk/cheese a day. Plus your syns.
read between the lines and thats what it breaks down to.

drzeus · 14/04/2011 20:44

Well done weighheyhey, the first time is always the worst!

I just got back from SW, having been avoiding the scales too busy/stressed out for a couple of months. Didn't get to stay to group as I had my two boys with me. However, I'm going to plan what I am going to have for the next week and dig out my food diary. Must concentrate this time and not get distracted by easter eggs anything. Luckily I don't really do chocolate!

Good luck for this week everyone on this thread!

Hedgepig · 14/04/2011 21:36

well hello, weight in tonight -3.5 lb in 2 weeks not bad. I'm thinking about buying some new clothes as my work troubles are falling down. Should I keep the old ones just in case or bin them?

katyz I'd start with the extra easy until you have got your head around it and then if you are craving meat look at the red or mostly veggie give the green a go. You can mix and match, extra easy one day and red another day

fishandlilacs · 14/04/2011 22:17

Awesome Hedge-you must be guffed with that :)

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 14/04/2011 22:23

just a quick check in so i dont loose you all, 12hr day at work, shattered, ended up eating crisps and feeling guilty for it but was called last thing last night to work all day so had nothing sorted and dp had my cash card, bah!!!

My mum had children later on, Well, not me, i was her first at 20, then my sister arrived 17yrs later, then my brother 20yrs later and my 2nd brother who we sadly lost 22yrs after me. Its lovely having a little brother and sister, they are my dcs best friends Smile

Jynxed · 14/04/2011 22:24

2lbs off this week! Only my second week, and I assumed that it would be 1lb like last week, so I'm chuffed to bits. 3lb over 2 weeks is not that impressive, but slow and steady is fine for me. If I can carry on at this rate I'll have lost a stone by the time I go to France in the first week of June, which would be fab! I've got lots of summer clothes in a box under the bed because I can't fit into them anymore. I would love to get them out again!!

fishandlilacs · 15/04/2011 15:10

lol I have just read my post that I wrote when very tired last night. Hedgepig, i do hope you are CHUFFED not guffed (although very appropriate with my expereince of SW)

:)

Well done Jynxed :)

Hedgepig · 16/04/2011 09:46

Morning is it Saturday already?? DH is home after a week away so I haven't had to take DD1 to some wind swept field to play footie. DS2 and are are in our jimmies watching Beebies.
JJ it is so hard sticking to a diet when you are tired and haven't planned. I have found a cracker bread with marmite is quite a good crisp substitute in an emergency.

Fish don't worry about the typo, I read it as you had intended .

I have a question, on the grab and go healthy extra list you can have 2 ryvita original etc and then the line below you can gave 4. I assumed it was a typo, my consultant said it wasn't but she couldn't get her head round it to explain it to me at the meeting Confused (she is a bit dippy) something to do with if you eat less it becomes a Speed Food (my bullshit detector was buzzing at this point
) has anyone else had this explained to them??

Jynxed · 16/04/2011 16:05

Does anyone know - if you pop corn yourself, without adding oil, butter, sugar or anything, is it syn-free?

I'm hungry today and craving something nice, and need to be directed away from the chocolate eggs in the fridge!

fishandlilacs · 16/04/2011 17:31

you know hedge i was thinking that very same thing myself-i'll ask my consultant next week if you like.

Jynxed i was also thinking that very same thing but i cant find it anywhere on the website. i shall commence a fact finding mission forthwith :)

I'm off to have another "incident with gin" tonight. Ho hum I will be swimming in syns but I do love to get drunk and it takes more than one G&T after all my years of liver hardening research :)

good luck and have nice weekend ladies x

Hedgepig · 16/04/2011 21:13

Fish please do ask your consultant, mine will have forgotten by next week I asked her the question. Don't talk to me about Gin, I am a tad schozelled at the mo. Popped around to my neighbours earlier and they offered me a G&T it must have been 50% G ! Obviously I immediately got hungry and so have been scoffing the children's quavers (well Tesco version anyhow). DH hs just been sent out for a take away too so lets say to dat is a "Flexible Syn" day Wine

Finally found Pop corn, it is in the book under crisps and snacks 28g plain popped on oil is a massive 8.5 syns and 28 g plain popped without fat is 5.5 syns. Although I have never tried popping it without oil and would be interested to see if you burn your kitchen down or not Jynxed Grin

fishandlilacs · 17/04/2011 11:19

Gnnnn. or should that read gin :). I had a NIGHT OUT last night. I drank gin, i was somewhat better than last friday. But I ate french stick and blue cheese, egg mayonaisse sandwiches, cheesy sausage rolls and some nachos. Oh god it was all so good i could have wept into the roquefort :)

THis week I will mostly channeling my inner kate moss (yeah theres at least 3 of her hidden in these folds) I am eating cherries with low fat yog at mo and I am dutifully summoned to the farm shop by DH for post drinkies breakfast.

Jynxed · 17/04/2011 19:00

I don't understand why pop corn is so many syns - its just corn! It pops fine in the microwave without oil, and then I added a bit of salt to mine and syrup to the kids. I didn't weigh it so I've no idea how much I had though. Its very hard to find things which hit the spot when you are just craving something yummy (especially in the last week before payday when there's nothing in the bank to help). I'm off work and home with the kids this week . Finding in some ways its easier, as I can make myself something healthy and syn free for lunch, but in other ways much harder because all the kids chocolate and biscuits are within reach. It feels unfair that they can stuff down this lovely food and I can't.

fishandlilacs · 17/04/2011 19:20

I know it seems weird to me too, but I guess it's the same as that thing about changing the sugar content like if you cook fruit or smoothie juice. If you cook it maybe it changes it to higher syns. Tis pants though.

I am still adventuring into the world of icecream in my new gadget. I am trying to recreate belgian cinnamon waffle flavour with low or no syns.
yay!

ilovewaldorfandstatler · 18/04/2011 20:17

think i've had a flexible syn week Blush really nice weather and spontaneous trips to the pub have resulted in 1/2 pound loss and sore throat (nope, that was not me who was singing at the top of my voice while dancing Blush)

ah well, tomorrow's another day

Jynxed · 19/04/2011 18:56

I've made a bit of a mistake. I made some hot cross buns, and as they were rather delicious, I've had 3 over the last 2 days (whoops!). I've now looked them up (a bit late) and they are 10 syns each!!!! I'm hoping that as they are homemade and I used skimmed milk they may be a little less - or is that wishful thinking? I'm not looking forward to weigh in on Thursday now.

I'm waiting for your syn free ice cream recipe fish!
