shocked and in tears. I joined up on my own, I was utterly terrified. It's a massive group, I think there were at least 40 people there who stayed and another 20 that didn't stay.

I haven't been on the scales for 3 years and I have a stone a year to show for it.

I am now 11st over my ideal weight and I am shit scared for my health.

My goodness, i'd like to say it feels good but right now I am overwhelmed. The diet looks great but I have simply got so much to lose. I met a woman tonight who has lost 6.5 stone-she is still bigger than I am but she gave me hope. It's taken her since Jan last year.

I start to eat right tomorrow-for tonight it's a glass of wine and an early night.

Which thread do you recommend I join for support along the way? I will need it.

Went our last night, drank way too much wine and then came home and ate cheese. [Blush], I feel a bit pants this morning tbh

fairydust · 02/04/2011 11:52

branston pickle is 1 syn for table spoon full
checked on sw site

fishandlilacs · 02/04/2011 15:32

Hiya ladies, I am sorry not checked in a while-mind you my last post was enough for a week :) Sorry i do go on!

My activity today appears to be taking the littlest to soft play and then coming home and spring cleaning! It was supposed to be a general tidy up but I have, in the conservatory: shifted all the furniture, swept, mopped, changed the seat covers, cleaned the windows and laid a posh table for mothers day lunch. Phew I am knackered. I'm off to a hydro pool party (at the local council pool, like a spa with jacuzzi and steam room only a fiver) tonight so hopefully will get in a good swim. I need it I have a few too many syns this week so far-just simple stupid things like being mad an inpromptu lunch by my freind which was cream of tomato soup and white bread! used up all my syns for just that lunch on that-boo no treats for me! Been getting a bit lazy again, forgetting to do food diary grabbing little things and thinking oh thats just a syn. This is how it goes for me, I will not let it this time.

Must not get complacent...must not get complacent...must not get complacent.

fishandlilacs · 02/04/2011 15:34

damn, I have just inadvertantly outed myself. Well here I am weigheyhey by another name I am known as "fish" to my friends. I'm still WHH :)

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 02/04/2011 20:20

ah yes, found it now, thanks for the help ladies, dips and dressings [confussed] righty oh!

ive been rubbish with my food diary too whh, forgot it for a week then started again thurs and forgot until tonight, musnt let it slip!!!!

im really tempted to weigh as i need some motivation but have had a bad week.

fairydust · 02/04/2011 20:26

I'm sick of lunch time feel like i'm turning into a noddle eating / egg freak at the min as that all i seem to have.

Doing extra easy have my B choice in an evening on weetabixs as find that stops me eating naught things late on.

Not one for salads either so any surgestions apreciated.

Hedgepig · 02/04/2011 20:56

fairydust have you tried making home made soup? You can add veg, pasta, lentils, pulses to bulk it out. I find it nice and filling. You can make a big batch so you don't have to make it everyday

fishandlilacs · 03/04/2011 18:13

happy Mothers day to those of you who have small ones.

Had a good day? I had a night out last night, I have had what I shall call a "slippy week". letting things slip a little, I know theres few shots of ketchup/mayo the odd sweetie here and there that I haven't written down. I need to write it down.

went to the hydro pool party and I swan ten lengths and played a game of water volleyball-but then ate my weight in goodies after. Grr!

fairyd I like jacket potatos for lunch but I can buy them form a jacket potato van man just up the road so it's really easy for me. Theres a nice recipe for a gammon and egg loaf in the latest magazine-that looks nice and can be cut cold for lunch boxes. i'll copy it out for you if you'd like.

JJ why the bad week, me dear? Theres nothing worse for your motivation than feeling stressed.

Jynxed · 03/04/2011 21:56

Not had a good weekend - well, a great weekend but not a slim one. My neighbours turned up with a bottle of wine and some crisps on Friday night, I had a family party on Saturday night, and today my youngest made me a lovely chocolate cake for Mothers' Day. I'd rather be fat than disappoint my kids, so of course I had a big slice. Still, I probably ate half of what I would have done a couple of weeks ago, both the cake and last night's buffet.

Ah, well, tomorrow's another day.

I am also finding it very hard avoiding the carbs, and would welcome any more suggestions for lunchtime meals on the go. Wish I had a baked potato van near me!

BlueandPink · 04/04/2011 11:28

Hi ladies, here's some tips that have helped me: do not skip meals! It just doesn't work. Like you know, metabolism slows down and there is the danger of eating too much next time. Other issue is lunches. There is nothing wrong with using your syns to have convenient lunch, i.e. shop-bought sandwich. And with Extra Easy you can deduct 6 syns if the sandwich is made from wholemeal bread. For example reduced fat cheese and onion sandwich would be about 9.5 syns. The other issue is salads. Of course few leaves of iceberg, chunk of cucumber and tomato is very boring, but leaves me ravenous. I normally use spinach as the base of my salads, then the usual tomatoes, cucumbers, spring onions etc. I often have either potatoes, egg and ham added. Other favourite of mine is chicken and bacon. Also, really tasty one is smoked salmon one, but put the salmon under the grill for couple of minutes (no need to turn it over as the slices are so thin), then add cooled boiled rice and egg with the "salad base". For the dressings I use either balsamic vinegar and pepper or light salad cream.

BlueandPink · 04/04/2011 11:36

Just remembered another idea: save the healthy extra "a" choice cheese and "b" choice brown bread to make warm "pizza" sandwiches: add tomato paste on bread, then f.e. ham and mushrooms, then top it with cheese and pizza spices and put it under the grill. Also, I have noticed that since I swapped tea and coffee to flavoured green tea I don't need to worry about my milk allowance but I can use it for cheese instead. (I normally add feta cheese on my salads.)

BlueandPink · 04/04/2011 11:45

And finally quite annoying one but it is true: it is the food that matters, exercise is just added extra with health benefits. For example, if I am on my feet all day pottering about with kids and cleaning, it is of course good for me, but even if it makes me tired, it really doesn't make me to lose the fat. :( I really need to do proper exercise where my heart-rate goes up in order to gain any benefits.

fairydust · 04/04/2011 14:23

Have the new magazine so will sit down and have a read think i need to study my books and look online again for insperation have a holiday in 8 weeks and am hoping to be 10lb lighter by then.

fairydust · 04/04/2011 14:25

I'm thinking of trying black coffee as well so i can swap my milk to cheese to give me more option as well.

excercise wise its as when i can find the motavation to do it at the min i know i need to do it as it makes me feel so much better in myself but actually gettin up and moving is another matter.

Soups i need bread so i tend to avoid soup as i need crusty bread and lots of lurpak with it Wink

Hedgepig · 04/04/2011 21:29

blueandpink thank you for all those good suggestions, the smokes salmon one sounds lovely.
fairydust I have drunk my tea and coffee black since I left home many moons ago and on this diet it frees up the dairy options. I have low fat natural yoghurt on my breakfast fruit (0.5 syn for 100ml) .

I made the cheese in bacon thing form the magazine tonight, it was a little bit dry but even DS1 ate it so I must have been reasonably palatable Grin

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 04/04/2011 21:49

had a pretty stressfull week last week as we are currently homeless, hence the lack of motivation and im still being rubbish, had one celebration choccie each day since sat Sad

BUT on the positive i just started training for a new job today and carry on all week and did a 2mile walk around a country park sunday, didnt tire me out one bit so i already have more energy, i didnt raise my heart rate that i noticed but surely it counts for something. I just made a nice salad of various leaves and some chicken and ham slices (red day tomorrow) will have a teaspoon of lighter than light mayo, about to chop up tons of exotic fruit to make a fruit salad for break aswell. might throw in an alpen bar as a treat, i know i will feel far better when ive weighed so may have to do it mid week, i need some serious motivation, im so determined i just need to find my serious will power again.

Hedgepig · 04/04/2011 22:27

JJ sorry to hear about your homelessness Sad, hope it sorts out soon and well done on the new job.
I am feeling more energised too, loosing my 1st stone has really inspired me and people say i look better too (my face is thinner) and i have lost some norkage hurrah I might have to get a new bra soon. I have a bean pot for lunch tomorow here which is 0 syns so I hope it tastes nice . I don't weigh between meetings (so I'm not disappointed) I don't look at lottery ticket I have bought for the same reason! it's a bit daft I suppose Hmm

Jynxed · 04/04/2011 23:26

I'M HUNGRY!!!!! I feel better for that.

Hedgepig · 05/04/2011 09:20

::passes Jynxed a large slice of ham and some grapes:: hope that helps. I'm hungry and tired not a good combination to start the day

fairydust · 05/04/2011 14:07

its weigh in for me tonight i know i've been good which in some ways makes me more nervous as if i don't get a result i always wonder what will i do, well time will tell i suppose.

Jynxed · 05/04/2011 19:55

Thanks Hedgepig - I did manage to go to bed without detouring via the fridge or larder.

JJ: hope the new job is OK and that a new home is on the horizon.

So, how did it go Fairydust? Fingers crossed for you.

I've gone over my syns today and yesterday, but hopefully now the Mothers Day chocolate cake is finished I will be better tomorrow. My weak point is getting home from work starving hungry. Today, in the 10 mins inbetween arriving home and leaving again to pick up the kids from the childminder, I ate one brown pitta bread (4 syns) with salad and beetroot, 1 apple, and unfortunately 1 chop chip cookie (lots of syns). With 3 skinny kids in the house there are all sorts of temptations around. The positive thing is that 2 weeks ago that snack attack would have been 4 cookies and either crisps or peanuts as well, so its all improvement.

Hedgepig · 05/04/2011 21:19

Jynxed I know what you mean about coming home starving, my coming home snack of choice is a couple of crackerbreads (1 syn each) with marmite )syn (if you like marmite that is), it has replaced my 1 large sharing bag of crisps.

Jynxed · 05/04/2011 21:54

I will try that tomorrow. I don't understand why most people say they are not hungry with Slimming world. I'm usually starving! Although I'm not strictly a veggie, I don't eat a lot of meat, fish or eggs, and therefore a lot of the recipes don't appeal to me. I am starting to realise that most of what I normally eat are toast, sandwiches, crisps and bicuits, and hence with these cut out I'm pretty hungry! Guess I have to completely re-learn what to eat, but I' finding it tough.

fairydust · 06/04/2011 08:20

lost 3 1\2 this week so very happy with that..

Jynxed - it's not easy at all as we get use to what we eat so it's like having to totally reeducate our selfs again for food but the rewards are so worth it..

last night at group one of the ladies that goes there had been to a presentation of one of the uk's biggest loosers she'd lost over 13st with slimming world and looks totally amazing a real insperation and she's stayed at target for 2 years.

fishandlilacs · 06/04/2011 11:30

hiya ladies,

jj I'm so sorry to hear fo your situation, how your are managing to keep your head anywhere near a diet is beyond me with all your stress going on. Youre doing so well. Think when it all has settled you'll be able to think, iF I COULD DO THIS WHILE i WAS HOMELESS i CAN DO IT NOW!

sorry caps

fairyD well done you 3.5 is a great loss.

jynxed it sounds like you may no be eating enough of your free carbs if youre hungry. I do get hungry on SW because i dont find the meals satisfy me as much as my old meals. I am full straight after but an hour later I'm getting hungry again-although last night I made the ham and pea risotto which was utterly gorgeous (parmesan cheese as HE) and I was satisfied til bedtime.

hedgep new bra wahey!!!

I am back in my jeans, which is a wonder!

Slightly dreading weigh in tonight-had far too many social occasions and such a bad day at work yesterday (was called a fat cunt by one of my students and I overheard her saying that I am fat bitch and I take up half the room) I sank half a bottle of wine last night. I just needed to chill. I was actually pretty depressed about it yesterday, i have never been verbally abused in my job before and I'm wondering if my weight and my body shape are starting to put the distance between me and my young people. If they have no basic respect for me because I am overweight how I can hope to get through to them on any level?
time for a change me thinks.

good luck those of you stepping on the scales today.

jj let us kow how things are going, thinking of you x
