shocked and in tears. I joined up on my own, I was utterly terrified. It's a massive group, I think there were at least 40 people there who stayed and another 20 that didn't stay.

I haven't been on the scales for 3 years and I have a stone a year to show for it.

I am now 11st over my ideal weight and I am shit scared for my health.

My goodness, i'd like to say it feels good but right now I am overwhelmed. The diet looks great but I have simply got so much to lose. I met a woman tonight who has lost 6.5 stone-she is still bigger than I am but she gave me hope. It's taken her since Jan last year.

I start to eat right tomorrow-for tonight it's a glass of wine and an early night.

Which thread do you recommend I join for support along the way? I will need it.

Oh fish so sorry to hear about your experience at work. I work in addictions and often wonder what folk think of me as I am addicted to food (although working on it) yet telling them how to avoid their drug of choice. Can you give the girl a really shitty mark or something? Grin I fear my children being bullied for having a fat mum.

9lb lost so far in 3 weeks though, so I am winning. You guys who are hungry - are you snacking? Take fruit wherever you go, or other syn free / low syn stuff, and eat if hungry. No need to be hungry at all.

I have 12 days off now, so plan to get some exercise in - invited to a wedding in June, so have a new dress to think about Smile

Jynxed · 06/04/2011 20:49

Well done Fairy, thats a fabulous loss! You must have tried really hard, so well done you.

Fish - thst sounds awful. Kids can be so cruel, but I'm sure it was just their own upset about something they were releasing on you. Don't dwell on it, you were just a handy target.

Those who have suggested not enough free carbs and not enough of the correct snacks are right. I don't seem to have got my head around the "rules" yet.

In my food diary for today I have:-

  • only one item in my free foods section, and I'm not certain its in the right place (homemade lentil and root veg soup)
  • quite a lot in the superfree as I like fruit & veg (so today have had apple, banana, clementine, grapes, broccoli, carrots and salad)
  • no healthy extra a (as I still have loads of milk left from previous day)
  • branflakes for healthy extra b (but 50g not 28g, as I weighed that out and it was practically nothing!!), so I've counted that as another 4.5 syns
  • Syns however!!!! 2 ryvita with my soup at lunch time (4), 1 light alpen bar in mid afternoon (quite surprised to find out that was 4.5 syns) and my quick tea before rushing out to a school play I thought was healthy but when I looked it up later it was a disaster. Nut cutlet in small piece of french bread with carrots & broccoli and a salad and tsp of ultra light mayo: 8.5 syns. So a total for the day of 21.5 syns. Aaarhgh!!

I'm dreading tomorrow's weigh-in. Hungry all week, but I've been over my syns 5 out of 6 days so far. If I've lost nothing I'll be gutted!

fishandlilacs · 06/04/2011 22:14

Grrrr 1lb on :(

I knew this was a bad week, but I thought I had done better than that! Just goes to show.

I dont really mind that much, we had fish and chip shop supper tonight and i'm finishing the other half bottle of wine.

Draw a line under it and start again. I am going to attack this week with gusto and will power.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 06/04/2011 22:22

oh fish Sad for you, but your previous loss was so brilliant try not to be so disheartened, and my gp keeps reminding us that us poor women fluctuate in weight alot so morning weigh ins (away from aunt flo) are the most accurate.

Im doing ok, training for my new job is really getting me motivated but due to taking pack lunch ive been on extra easy, as for lunch i have a lovely salad from asda that has loads of lettuce, sweetcorn, cucumber, pasta and tuna with some mayo (2 for £3 Grin) the mayo is syns but the rest free and i keep reminding myself not to beat myself up that its a bit naughty as its better than a big sandwich, crisps, choc etc. id usually snarf.

had a major naughty day tues as i was feeling glum as it was 2nd day of being away from dcs and first time ive ever done it, they were at my friends and when i went to collect them theyd made fairy cakes, only small but i had four over that evening, how can i say no when they are giving them to me Blush

anyway, thanks to my lovely friend i have a lovely new cossie and plan to swim every monday with her properly and go leisurely once a week with the dcs (the previous costume showed either too much nork or fanjo hehe)

Jynxed · 06/04/2011 22:22

Commiserations! Tomorrow is another day . . .

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 07/04/2011 22:09

weigh in tomorrow morning, nervous.....

Jynxed · 07/04/2011 22:13

Lost 1lb. Obviously this is better than nothing, but I can't help being a little disappointed as I have been so hungry all week. I'm not really surprised as I have overspent my syns most days. I just can't seem to find something I want to eat, that I'm allowed to eat, and stops me feeling hungry. I have been so hungry this week and I know I won't stick to it unless I find more too eat. 1lb just doesn't seem worth the pain.

How did it go for you JJ?

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 08/04/2011 21:33

im weighing fortnightly, so in two weeks ive lost 9lb 3oz Grin dp lost 7lb 5oz

we are amazed as weve had a naughty week, going out for the night started us on a bad few days of a cake here, some choc there but now we have a huge insentive, we acheived that and managed not feeling starving.

So bloody chuffed both of us have been grinning like loons, back on it strict now... slim new me, here i come.

Jynxed · 08/04/2011 21:47

Well done JJ!! That's brilliant! Can you tell me what you are eating / not eating to achieve that sort of loss?

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 08/04/2011 22:08

im not having any potatoes except two roasties on a sunday, that was my big weakness jackets, chips, mash etc, only one slice of bread a day, brown toast with scrambled egg on every day for breakfast.

lunch is usually on a red day some kind of cold cut and salad on a green tuna pasta salad.

I dont eat lunch as a matter of course i just have it on days i am extra busy or feel hungry, today i wasnt so i skipped, im trying extra hard to make sure i really am hungry not just bored.

main meal on green days is my fave, quorn chilli, quorn bolognese, pasta in homemade tom sauce, stir fry etc, use fry light to cook and add tons of veg to everything.

red days is any meat we fancy, my fave atm is gammon with a fry light fried egg and mushrooms dp prefers steak salad,

eat loads on fruit and the odd alpen bar inbetween. sometimes muller light too.
oh and drinking ALOT of water, and low calorie squash

walking half a mile most evenings (not once this week as been on a course for work) walk 2 miles on a sunday and swimming once as laps and once for fun with the children each week and always parking that bit further away from asda/work etc and walking anywhere i can.

im not denying myself treats at all, ds made cupcakes the other day so i had one, i tried denying myself as thought that was best and had a major binge one evening as i cracked, seems little and often is the best way. i havent got a big variety of food atm as im a bit fussy, hope that helps a little though, sorry ive gone on so long

Jynxed · 08/04/2011 22:33

Thanks JJ. Don't know how you skip lunch though, I'm usually gagging for lunch by 11a.m., and then starving again by 4pm. I'm hoping that my appetite will adjust to a more normal level soon, as no one else seems to be as hungry as me all the time.

How much are you hoping to loose? At the rate you're going you'll shift more than a stone each month!!!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 08/04/2011 23:00

i hope so, i NEED to loose 10 stone Blush

if you like it, melon is a fantastic snack, its really filling but major healthy, is listed as to superspeed weightloss in my sw book, honey dew and cataloupe being the best, i buy a big one, a mango and a pineapple also superspeed and speed, chop them up pop them in some tubs at the back of the fridge and have one with me at all times, kiwis are another thing i live on, grab one and a teaspoon chop off the top and scoop it out... fruit is my weapon Smile

Jynxed · 08/04/2011 23:09

That's a great suggestion, sounds like something that would distract me when I'm desperate for a biscuit - thanks! Think I need a shopping trip tomorrow!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 08/04/2011 23:31

alpen lights are good too, you can have two as an healthy extra apple and raisin ones are lush.

yes buy lots of melon, it really works for me and dp, he has melon and fruit and fibre for lunch, ive had it a couple of times and couldnt manage tea!

fishandlilacs · 09/04/2011 18:26

oooh JJ well done on your weightloss lovely, thats superb!

You sound like you are well on track.

I have been supergood since wednesdays weigh in a fish and chips.

apart from last night, a friend came up she has been diagnosed with skin cancer, needed a friend. so we crank gin, lots and lots of gin. I had 24 syns yesterday-they were all in gin!

Cest las vie, I have not had a single syn today despite an evil hangover. I will aim to do this for the rest of the week and see what happens on wed.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 09/04/2011 20:24

thanks Fish, its given me the boost i desperatly needed.

sometimes, you just need to syn, i think that was a more than good enough reason tbh!

went and had my 2nd tattoo today, went a bit faint afterwards and my best friends mum insisted i needed a quick sugar fix so i ate some mini cookies, but thats all i syned on all day.

seemed to have slipped onto a few extra easy days as today i grabbed a pasta salad for lunch and dp wanted meat for tea, but i just keep reminding myself that its so much better than what i was eating i shouldnt worry.

Jynxed · 09/04/2011 21:21

I agree JJ - even when you slip, if you are eating better than before then its got to be good. I always use up my syns (double cereal for breakfast, mug shot snack, and glass of wine this evening) but thats almost nothing compared to a couple of weeks ago. Gagging for a biscuit with my coffee right now though!

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 10/04/2011 20:02

i used to be a few bags of crisps a day, choc, biscuit etc, tea was often a take away after id cooked for the dcs and didnt fancy it later, i was so naughty.

got myself a pedometer, keep forgetting to put it on, remembered today just as we hit the country park at 3pm and racked up 8201, between then and now. so im pleased, cant swim for 6weeks though so a bit gutted as id just got a lovely cossie

stinkypinky · 11/04/2011 08:36

Jj would love a link to the cossie.. I would love a new one. Still in my Maternity one, and it is getting a bit baggy now (thankfully)

fishandlilacs · 11/04/2011 18:59

heya ladies, how we all doing. Sounds like youre all doing great.

Just a quick question-i made some syn free slimming world ice cream last night and was actually pretty impressed with how it turned out it's basically whipped egg whites, vanilla essence, splenda and fromage frais. (ate a 500g tub last night) I am doing another batch tonight but want to add some raspberries and i have chopped them into smaller bits and stirred them in to make a kind of raspberry ripple-do you think they will have syn value because they have been chopped/crushed slightly? I know if you puree them they do but I haven't done that (although I imagine you could, would add a lot of flavour and not a lot of syns) I have jus released the juice a bit

stinkypinky · 11/04/2011 19:19

Of course not fish! you are doing nowt more than you would with a quick chew!

fishandlilacs · 11/04/2011 19:21

:)

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 12/04/2011 15:33
