tonight I confonted my demon-I have come back from first slimming world

weighheyhey · 16/03/2011 21:20

shocked and in tears. I joined up on my own, I was utterly terrified. It's a massive group, I think there were at least 40 people there who stayed and another 20 that didn't stay.

I haven't been on the scales for 3 years and I have a stone a year to show for it.

I am now 11st over my ideal weight and I am shit scared for my health.

My goodness, i'd like to say it feels good but right now I am overwhelmed. The diet looks great but I have simply got so much to lose. I met a woman tonight who has lost 6.5 stone-she is still bigger than I am but she gave me hope. It's taken her since Jan last year.

I start to eat right tomorrow-for tonight it's a glass of wine and an early night.

Which thread do you recommend I join for support along the way? I will need it.

hello everyone and welcome to Littlemiss,

Tonight is weigh in after the first week. I feel great, more energy and i feel healthier. I am pleased with how I have done but not sure if I have lost anything. I'll let you know later.

I am afraid I blew it all a little last night-date with husband out to see Elbow and we went to cafe rouge for dinner. I dont have the eating out guide book and thier nutritional values are not on thier website anymore so with a bit of guess work I think I had 30 syns yesterday. I was syn free all day yesterday until the night out and I'm going to aim to be syn free today and tomorrow to make up for it. I do have a few syns "banked" from earlier in the week, although i'm not entirely sure it works like that, im sure my old consultant said it was the day either side of a night out that counted.

Boy oh boy I really enjoyed those french fries and those G&T's and the night out was planned for ages (and it was really lovely and romantic too) and ate with much more restraint than I would have normally.

I had the plain ceasar salad to start with dressing on the side, then steak frites and I only had a tiny bit of the garlic butter. I had no dessert and drank G&T slimline. i would have previously happily scoffed my way through 3 courses and a bottle of wine.

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 23/03/2011 11:13

Hi weighhey,

glad you had a lovely evening. i think the best thing to do on a healthy eating plan is to not ban yourself from enjoying an evening or treat here and there, and you seem to have approached it as carefully as you can, well done.

i am having a hard few days im really craving junk, it doesnt help there were sweets and pizza everywhere at the bnb last night, but i was good and ate my chicken breast with salad, corn on the cob and mange tout.

i have discovered the total joy that is light alpen bars, theyre helping me calm my craving for sweets, the apple and raisin is just 59calories and you can have two as a healthy option!

yesterday i only had 4.5syns Grin

im going to weigh on the boots machine as the nasty doctor i had didnt record my weight correctly so this week ill have no idea how well ive done!

weigheyhey · 23/03/2011 18:45

Hiya Jj,

you sound like youre doing really well. Thanks for the tip on those bars. I haven't craved sweets too much in the last few days but I will bear that in mind when i do.

weigheyhey · 23/03/2011 20:47

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 23/03/2011 21:57

i was so excited i spelt your name wrong Blush

stinkypinky · 25/03/2011 12:32

Doing well here - lost 5lb in the first week. It has been hard as I was ill, then DD1 was too, then DD2, and now my poor old Dad is ill. Mum is going to SW meetings and put on 1lb! She had not stuck to the plan, so not surprising really. Mum only has just over a stone to lose.

Top Syn tip - Kraft Mikado (little biscuit things) on offer in Morrisons are 1/2 sin each, and if kept in fridge can last a while if licked slowly Grin

Stinky: Current Weight 16st9lb, Weight loss to date 5lb.

Target 11st (I am 5ft 8, and if I go any lower my boobs disappear)

BlueandPink · 25/03/2011 13:33

I joined SW just before Xmas and looks like by next week I will have lost total 2st. I absolutely love it and recommend it to everyone. Do you know those people who say that they've been to fad diets, lost weight and then gained it again? Well, I am absolutely NOT like that because I've never been able to be on fad diet not even a day! I used to be convinced that in order to lose weight, you either have to live at gym or starve yourself, which is definitely not the case with SW. I do running though but that is more to de-stress than to lose weight. My typical food-intake is (FryLight-) fried egg, bacon, beans for breakfast, ham, potato and egg salad for lunch and spag bol for dinner, followed by large glass of red wine. I could also have some fruit as a snack.

weigheyhey · 25/03/2011 19:54

Evening everyone, welcome blueandpink, I really like how were getting more and more people on this thread.

Well done stinkypink 5lb is great, feels fab doesn't it? Sounds like you have done extra well to stick to it during a rotten week.

In the oven right now i am baking a slimming world chocolate cheesecake.
It's supposed to serve 4, it's only half a syn a portion,so i may end up eating it all.
DH has gone out tonight and was horrid to me this afternoon, (in his defence he is nervous as he is doing a live spoken word reading of one of his short stories tonight, for the first time ever, but still no excuse for being a knob) plus i just heard a job i have gone for and was interviewed for a couple of weeks ago i didn't get. Stress is danger time for me, I have been craving all sorts of bad things today, mainly hot cross buns and butter slathered all over them.

So i treated myself to the dessert book and am making this choccie cheesecake thing. i will happily share the recipe if anyone wants it. I'll let you know how it tastes, its fromage frais, cottage cheese, a choc options sachet, splenda and an egg.

weigheyhey · 25/03/2011 19:55

Oooh JJ how was your weigh in, any luck?

muchostinky · 25/03/2011 21:38

Hi everyone

Can I join you? Just gone back on slimming world after a few years off. Got a new partner who can eat like a pig and not put any weight on - I eat half of what he does and seem to put on double the weight! So that almost two stone plus the three stone I was still carrying from my 3 year old means that I have a fair bit of weight to lose. To be fair though I would be happy with loosing just the 3!

Anyway, doing okay so far - although a cinnamon swirl pastry was my downfall today, was good and only had half though.

The chocolate cheesecake sounds good by the way! Grin

weigheyhey · 25/03/2011 22:09

You're very welcome mucho.

It's such a struggle isn't it-I am trying to see this time as an eating plan for life not just to lose some weight-the weight loss is a bonus.

The cheescake, i'm sad to report was bloody awful :( i dont know if i got it wrong or what but it seperated in the oven so it was watery and grim and grainy. It tasted nothing like chocolate either. I am quite unhappy at the waste of ingredients but I did only eat a few spoonfuls before I decided to bin it.

c'est la vie.

weigheyhey · 27/03/2011 14:12

Hiya all,

It's gone awfully quiet round here.

I came down poorly yesterday, ear infection and feeling crap. Been unable to do very much. Yesterday I just ate whatever i was made, simply grateful than DH was looking after me. I ate too much bread and ended up having 23 1/2 syns :( All in bread.

It adds up so quickly, but DH is of the opinion that if youre ill you should just eat normally-I told him that Sw is eating pretty much normally. We had a row today too, i specifically explained that I had to switch to small wholemeal loaves instead of the big granary ones we normally buy and he came back with granary. I am grumpy, he is overtired I suppose I should be grateful that he is looking after me, but I am annoyed that he doesn't listen. He even argued that I had said granary was ok-I know I never, because I know it isn't ok, so why would I have said that. grr Men

He's taken dd out to an event that i have been looking fwd to for months, i am so gutted I cannot go but i'm too unwell. i am glad I have abot of peace I guess.

muchostinky · 27/03/2011 20:34

Sorry to hear that you aren't feeling well weigheyhey - hopefully you will soon. Smile A bit of peace might do you some good.

Its all a bit poo about that cheesecake, was looking forward to trying it!

I got a bit waylaid yesterday too, I was doing so well, but 3 digestives pushed me over the edge and I decided to add a chinese to the over the syns total. ended up having around 30! Been pretty good today though and only 4 syns had so far - hoping not too add too many more to the pile. Lol

Anyway, 'see' you all next week. Grin

JjandtheBeanlovesUnicorns · 28/03/2011 11:57

hiya everyone and weighhey

sorry have been absent a while, got lots going on.

havent done an official weigh in yet as neither me or dp knew our start weight, will know next week as we both got a fair shock on the scales, didnt feel so bad as we have been soo good all week.

were walking every day, not always alot, but a good potter around for 30-60mins.

on average we have on green days. scrambled egg on toast and fruit and fibre, fruit and maybe an alpen bar as snacks then dinner is pasta and salad/stir fry etc. red day we have bacon, scrambled egg, mushroom and beans for breakfast, fruit and alpen as snacks, for dinner, some chicken/beef etc and salad. weve changed our habbits so much and feel so much better for it. Its helped us in so many aspects we are even sleeping better, and finding mornings easier.

thanks for the tip about mikados, i need chocolate!!!

off to the docs this week re. gym referal

weigheyhey · 28/03/2011 15:49

mmm just had a really tasty snack for craving something sweet.

1 banana
1 mullerlight toffee (i think the vanilla ones would work too)
1 fox crinkle biscuit (2.5 syns)

Pour yog into a bowl, slice over banana and crumble up the biccie on top. Like banoffie pie :)

BlueandPink · 29/03/2011 12:43

I just heard that I got a new job! I have to admit that it definitely helps my confidence after losing those 2 stones. I need to buy lots of new clothes though but I should really wait until I am on my target weight. I also tried on my wedding gown for a laugh and it fits! :)

weigheyhey · 29/03/2011 13:24
