2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

Hello Smile.

BsshBossh · 16/03/2011 19:34

A quick summary for newbies about the Paul McKenna way of eating. The four basic principles are:

  • Eat when you are hungry
  • Only eat what you want, not what you think you should
  • Eat consciously and enjoy every mouthful
  • Stop when you think your body is full

This is not a restrictive diet - no foods are forbidden. In effect it's not a diet as we typically see on these threads - it's a way of eating "normally".

franke · 16/03/2011 19:41

Thanks for these threads, they're really helpful for us lurkers. I've been doing this for about 10 days now and my jeans are definitely looser. I'm amazed at how little I'm eating, or rather at how much I was eating before Blush. I don't really have that much to lose, would be happy with a stone. Still struggling a bit with knowing when I'm truly hungry, but it's all going in the right direction.Smile

JuicyOlive · 16/03/2011 20:19

wmmc - liking the new thread intro - and the decisiveness of not wasting any time waiting for the old one to even approach completion!

Following my last post on the old thread, I have listened to the craving buster track and now associated bombay mix (my arch nemesis food) with tripe and oysters in my mind. Hmmm....

Leverkusen · 16/03/2011 21:20

How many tracks are there on the CD? There's only one on mine.

AnyFuleKno · 16/03/2011 21:54

Marking a spot so I can keep lurking

whomovedmychocolate · 16/03/2011 22:31

Leverkusen - some of us have a five CD set that we got at the recent seminar. But the hypnotic induction on the one that comes with the book works just as well (I lost 30 pounds on it before I had DS).

Did some baking tonight for comic relief cake sale at school on fri. Remembered how much I love baking and think I will see how I cope with having cakes around (have eaten 3 fairy cakes so far but skipped tea as was full). never allow myself to bake as I know I would eat everything I make so this will be interesting challenge! Am struggling with the urge to weigh at the moment too but will try to resist till weekend. Love the new thread! Keep on Pauling everyone xxx

solo · 16/03/2011 23:03

Weighed in at the GP surgery today and a kilo off... not even Pauling atm.

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2011 06:54

Good St. Patrick's and New page\thread? day! Hope everyone is well, I'm still wondering about deafworm. solo it's probably in yr subconscious now

Leverkusen · 17/03/2011 07:38

Thanks wmmc, all I seem to do on this thread is ask questions!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/03/2011 07:51

Yay, sparkly new thread! I think I may weigh myself today. I havent weighed since before the seminar and I think id like to know now how well I have done. I am a bit scared though - what if I am disappointed? :( I love the freedom & the principles of this plan, but I really need to lose a lot of weight (not just a couple of stone) and Im scared Ill want to try something else if this isnt helping my weight situation.

Im out for lunch at a friends house today, but she is one of those "naturally slim" people Grin and she knows I am eating smaller portions, so will be totally fine with however much I eat! :)

Hope everyone has a good day!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/03/2011 07:56

Ok, I just weighed myself - I've lost 1 stone 4 lb since the seminar!

arfur · 17/03/2011 08:09

Wow glaikit thats amazing well done!!!!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/03/2011 08:15

That's less than 4 weeks isnt it? or am I couting wrong? I am so chuffed Grin Thank you x

whomovedmychocolate · 17/03/2011 08:28

Leverkusen - asking questions is a good sign, only arrogant people never ask questions :)

HowToLookGoodGlaikit Hurrah for you! That's brilliant news! How much more do you have to go now?

whomovedmychocolate · 17/03/2011 08:28

Solo - a kilo down is great! Keep it up! :)

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/03/2011 08:41

Loads Blush but I am well on my way :)

BsshBossh · 17/03/2011 08:50

Yey solo and HowToLookGoodGlaikit for the weight losses! I have another week to go until my next weigh in. Resist, Bssh, resist!

I've had a few interesting days that have shown me just how difficult it can be sometimes to break free of the typical diet mentality. There are days when I am very hungry and days when I am not hungry at all. On the days I am hungry I feel guilty about simply eating and on the days I am not hungry at all I think I should eat a meal or snack anyway just to keep my metabolism going.

It's my mantra now to say that everything balances out in the end if you are in tune with your body's physical need for fuel - this way of thinking means I should allow myself to eat more on hungry days and eat far less on not-so-hungry days. But that old diet mentality - the one I've carried with me since my teens - rears its ugly head.

mummyosaurus · 17/03/2011 10:02

Glakit - that's fantastic. I feel really pleased for you (that must be pauling working because before I would have been Envy inside).

Arfur, I love baking too. Usually would eat a lot of the produce, but if i let the kids help, I imagine all the grim on there hands and coughing (and worse) that have got into the cakes, I find I can resist. This even worked pre pauling. Try it?

solo · 17/03/2011 13:00

HowTo that's brilliant!!! Me thinks I'm going to have to actually Paul now...trouble is I'm just not in the right frame of mind grrrrrrrrr!

mummyosaurus · 17/03/2011 13:42

HowToLookGoodGlaikit I've been thinking about your fantastic progress and I have some questions?

What has changed in your life since the seminar?

Do you feel different?

How has your eating changed?

Thank you

ppeatfruit · 17/03/2011 13:55

Huge Congrats howto. Bssh praps if you eat properly remembering the chew 20 times rule on yr hungry days then yr body will even itself out.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/03/2011 14:32

Hey mummyosaurus

  1. I dont even know where to start! My eating habits have changed, my thought processes have changed, even my sleeping habits have changed! I Feel like a different person now :)
  1. I feel very different! Clothes are looser, Im much more positive, I find I am doing more stuff since Im not wasting so much time thinking about or eating food lol. Listening to teh CDs has even cured my diet coke addiction (didnt expect that at all!) and I am sleeping soundly at night so I am more alert & energised during the day too.
  1. I am eating probably about 2/3 less at meals and eating 2/3 snacks max a day. I used to eat almost all day long :( I eat from a small side dish, and still leave something as I am totally satisfied!

Like I say though, I have a lot of weight to lose, so that is probably why I have lost so much so quickly. I had terrible eating habits before the 19th Feb :( about 10 days ago, this plan just clicked, and it feels natural now, there is no effort/willpower on my part.

Im not going to weigh now until at least 3/4 weeks time, as I am sure it will slow down now. Have converted 2 friends to the system now, since raving about my loss! Grin

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 17/03/2011 14:41

My friend who came to the seminar with me has lost 1ost 1 stone 2 lb Grin
