2011 Paul McKenna P3 - the march towards skinny jeans continues

whomovedmychocolate · 16/03/2011 18:40

Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

If you are struggling with the "am I hungry/am I full?" question, please watch thsi video, this woman explains it really well!

It is well worth a look, it has helped me a lot!

I can't believe this thread is 'resting!!!' Grin

hellymelly · 17/03/2011 23:33

I'm thinking of starting the Paul method,I was slim with no effort, but since turning 40 and having babies particularly since dd2 who is now three,I have put on weight and can't seem to shift it.I am used to guzzling away and not getting fatter and I can't do that anymore, think I need to re-train myself somewhat.Have you all found the method works for you? Any tips at all? I did try a low carb thing last year and it was working, but I hated it and my hair started falling out.

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2011 07:46

Leverkusen · 18/03/2011 09:19

I went out for lunch yesterday and ate until I was full not satisfied... a bit disappointed in myself (on day bloody four) but then I figured it didn;t matter.
But then last night I ate some crisps and I wasn't hungry at all.
Oh well, today is a new day! Smile and my DP is coming over from England today, I haven't seen him in a month, maybe next time I see him I will look all different!

franch · 18/03/2011 10:15

HowToLookGoodGlaikit thanks for that video link, really helpful. I like what she says about feeling neutral/normal when it's time to stop eating.

This thread is so encouraging even though I'm still struggling after 3 weeks. Some great weight loss here and even more importantly, great attitude.

I'm persevering even though it's not yet working for me, because it makes so much sense. I listen to the CD every night - I do usually fall asleep but according to the book that's ok. But I must be blocking/self sabotaging in some way, because the message is not getting through. In his video PM talks about feeling like you can't finish a bowl of chips because you're full - ie it's easy, because he's changed something in your mind. I'm not experiencing that yet. Every time, it's a choice. Willpower. Sometimes I'm strong, sometimes I'm weak. But I still haven't done a single full day of 100% Pauling.

I know there's an exercise for dealing with self sabotage in the book - I'll try that.

In the meantime, please keep telling me it'll work in the end ..........

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 18/03/2011 10:50

Im sure it will work for your franch. It can take days, weeks or even months to break a habit! Your habit is eating when not hungry/eating past full. It wasnt natural for me to start with, I did have to conciously tell myself id eaten enough & leave the rest. Then after forcing myself a few times, I broke the habit, I recognised my full/satisfied signals. Now it feels natrual, as soon as I have eaten 2 forkfulls too much, I can feel it and it doesnt feel good! Hang on in there :) Enjoy the freedom of eating yoru favourite foods while you wait for your click :)

franch · 18/03/2011 11:02

:) Thanks HowToLook

VJayJay · 18/03/2011 12:00

Just marking my place, sorry I don't post much, but when I'm 'slipping' I pop on here and it really helps, so THANKYOU Smile

ppeatfruit · 18/03/2011 12:59

It does take a while, i've just cracked the "I literally couldn't eat another bite it would make me sick" thing I pushed away the bowl!!!You're welcome VjayJay

franch · 18/03/2011 13:18

That's good to know, ppeatfruit.

I just had a good Paul-friendly lunch - substituting 'neutral' for 'satisfied' really helped me know when to stop.

Many thanks to the person who 'lent' me her CDs - I now have the full selection on my iPhone which I hope will help.

Onwards and upwards!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 18/03/2011 13:51

I just got a bit shirty on another thread after someone said to ignore my advice & implied that WW was the only way to lose weight Blush Shock

Im having another good day, though twice today tha thought "go on, just stuff yourself!" has popped into my head - why? I am trying to self-sabotage after my great result? If i think back to mt other weight-loss efforts, I do remember each time I lost some good weight, I would then binge for a few days after! Something going on there!

Welcome to the newbies :) Hope you find teh thread helpful & useful x

BsshBossh · 18/03/2011 14:01

Crazy question of the day/week/month alert

I've just eaten lunch (for which I was nicely hungry). I am satisfied, nearly full. I could easily not eat anymore and yet a square of dark chilli chocolate is crying out to me from the cupboard.

Remember, I'm not full but satisfied; remember also I am in week 3 of re-educating myself around eating.

So, do I eat it?

BsshBossh · 18/03/2011 14:05

Actually, I know the answer - it's to wait until I start feeling a rising hunger pang and savour it with coffee then... Probably late afternoon...

Still, I'm interested if you would have eaten that piece of chocolate.

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 18/03/2011 14:11

Nope I wouldnt. Did you watch that video I posted? The lady on it explained that we should feel neutral most of the time. I would keep checking my hunger levels until I coudl eat it though Grin (need to work on that I think lol)

franch · 18/03/2011 14:31

Bssh I would eat it, but I wouldn't be Pauling if I did! It's a familiar scenario for me ......

Hopefully soon the answer will be that I wouldn't! Do look at the vid that HowToLook posted - really useful.

HowToLook - good for you for getting shirty. Grin I haven't done the self-sabotage exercise from the book yet but might be good for both of us right now (although you are waaay ahead of me). And/or the craving buster from the book/CD?

BsshBossh · 18/03/2011 14:46

Hello, yes I watched the video when it was first linked to. Very helpful.

I didn't eat the chocolate in the end because I bore in mind the "am I feeling hungry?"/"am I feeling neutral?" question.

But I am so looking forward to eating it when hunger kicks in Grin.

franch · 18/03/2011 15:05

Hooray Bssh :)

ktwiltshire · 18/03/2011 21:37

ugh....posted on the other thread, just checking in. trying not to try in front of DH at eastenders....

good dinner, yummy and very full, trying to push away bad emotions that may lead to eating half a banoffee pie...

whomovedmychocolate · 18/03/2011 21:39

Just bought a size 10 Monsoon dress and it fits. Even with Monsoon's scarily tiny sizes! :)
