Well the old thread was getting mordibly obese wasn't it? Grin

Welcome new people and people who've been here for a while, this is the definitive Paul McKenna support thread.

Whether you are dribbling over his Paulness or wibbling over pudding, we're here to listen, slightly mock you and tell you to step away from the scales.

The Paul Mckenna plan is not a diet but a way of teaching yourself to eat slowly and consciously and achieve the body you've always dreamed of.

There will be no diet foods on this thread, no starvation and no beating ourselves up because ^lifes' too bloody short to weigh a carrot and we'd far rather be doing something incredible instead!

Thanks BsshBossh and Dotty. Yes, my DH is a natural Pauler too. I always used to eat my meal in about a third of the time he did, but now usually I try and pace myself to eat at about the same rate. Sometimes I even manage to finish AFTER him now.

Confession time: because he usually leaves about half his meal, I would often secretly scoff the best bits left on his plate (if I could manage to get to the plates and clear them up first) Blush.

JuicyOlive · 03/05/2011 13:49

x post with onesandwich - yes, I am getting better at the saying no not to be rude too. But this was some serious patisserie Grin.

BsshBossh · 03/05/2011 14:09

My DH will serve himself a slice of cake or cheesecake then eat half and leave the rest aside for as much as half an hour before deciding whether to eat the rest or not. He's crazzzzzyyyyyyy, but slim. Sigh. I'm getting there (but still need to serve myself less rather than trusting myself to leave cake on the plate!!!).

TheOriginalFAB · 03/05/2011 17:40

I have been told about this thread so here I am.

I will be back in a week when I have read the thread and know what I need to do Grin.

DottyDot · 03/05/2011 17:43

Tut. I've just downloaded the Paul McKenna iphone app onto my itunes and I can't get it to work. I stupidly thought I'd be able to play it through the computer (haven't got an iphone!). Sigh. Am possibly doing it wrong though as am not computer literate....

CatPower · 03/05/2011 18:01

Hi everyone,

Hope you don't mind a newbie popping in. I've had I Can Make You Thin sitting in a drawer since before Christmas. Blush I've listened to it, err... twice, but every time I open the drawer it's there begging me to listen, but I put it off. Thing is, I really need to lose about three stone, and if I'd only persevered with PM when I bought ICMYT I'd be well on my way by now! Anyway, going to get the iPhone app (much easier to have it on there than to have to fiddle around with it on the laptop) and I WILL listen tonight!

GreenToes · 03/05/2011 18:13

DottyDot unfortunately you can't play iPhone apps on the computer, only on an iPod or iPhone. I have the app and personally I wasn't that impressed with it, considering the price...

Do you have the book/CD already? If so, the app doesn't really offer much more anyway :)

For anyone thinking of buying the app: it's basically the four rules, a journal - there are tick boxes for different things you should've done during the day, then you write something positive you noticed about the day and something you are looking forward to tomorrow. You could just do that in a notebook instead, or I think it's probably the same as the Paul McKenna journal which is on Amazon I think. There is a "trance" which I think is the same as the CD - I have both but always fall asleep during them so no idea if they are actually the same. And there's a section called "panic" where there's a 1 minute, 3 minute and 7 minute video/trance, but I've never actually used that. Oh and when you listen to trance you can't lock the screen or leave the app so if you're listening to it at night it's hard to sleep and it runs down your battery a fair bit.

SilveryMoon · 03/05/2011 18:48

Hi.
Another newbie here if that's ok!
I've just bought the book, and plan to start reading tomorrow (ish).
I love food, the junk mostly. I am a compulsive eater and don't actually ever know if I am hungry or not.
I do not have the will power to diet, so hoping this will help me a bit.

JuicyOlive · 03/05/2011 19:34

Welcome Silvery - the link which someone posted on the second page of this thread is very useful for working out if you're actually hungry.

I have a question. Has anyone got the version of the book with the DVD - and is it any good? I could do with another day of the seminar to get me motivated again, but that's not happening. But maybe if the DVD was similar, that would be useful.

shrinkingnora · 03/05/2011 20:38

Welcome new people!

I stick to eating when I am hungry in the morning - as you get better at eating the right amount for supper, you will find that you are hungry in the morning. If I am not hungry and I don't have time to eat as soon as I am I either have an early lunch or sometimes accidentally get too far along the hunger scale. I think that for me this is better than eating when I am not hungry. I think it does depend on the individual and also which rule you are finding the hardest at the time.

Olive - there are bits of the tv series on youtube eg the craving buster. Would that be any help?

I have just had an innocent veg pot for dinner. Except I can't finish it because I am not hungry. And it took me 22 minutes to eat! Things have been better today foodwise. I am getting back on an even keel.

I have been a bit off piste over the last week as my neghbour got very much worse and sadly died this morning Sad I totally knew why I was comfort eating and ate a lot less than I used to eat for comfort. Lots of little tiny steps in the right direction are adding up to a happier, healthier me though. I am totally in this for life. Compare this to my friend who said that she had resigned herself to the fact that she would always have lighter life or cambridge in her life.....

DingDongMerrilyOutOfSeason · 03/05/2011 21:50

shrinkingnora sorry to hear about your neighbour. It is totally understandable to slip at times like these but as you know, you are in control now so will be easier to look for other ways to grieve which will be far healthier for your mind and body. Take care x

QueenStromba · 03/05/2011 23:22

I'm sorry to hear about your neighbour shrinkingnora.

JuicyOlive: The DVD is only 30 mins long, it looks like it was a TV show originally and is just PM explaining the basic principles to a studio audience - there's nothing in it that isn't in the book other than him stressing the 20 chews thing a bit more.

SoloIsApparentlyACougar · 03/05/2011 23:26

Hello everyone, welcome to the new Paulers :)

Oh Nora :( sorry about your neighbour.

ppeatfruit · 04/05/2011 08:27

What Solo said. Who's going to start the new thread? This is now exploding at the seams!!

Alibabaandthe80nappies · 04/05/2011 09:43

nora :(

I have pauled properly for breakfast, a good start! I'm struggling to listen to the CD, every time I try and do it DS2 wakes up and starts grumbling, argh!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 04/05/2011 09:46

I'll start a ne wthread & put lots of useful links in the first post, if you like/ Any suggestions for a witty title?

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 04/05/2011 09:47

Sorry about your neighbour Solo, I know you were a great support to them :(

PositiveAttitude · 04/05/2011 09:55

Sorry about your neighbour Solo.

I am feeling a little smug pleased today. After an horrendous day at work yesterday all I wanted to do was sleep, but instead I went swimming again. It had better have been worth it!!!
(Although did have a piece of cake afterwards, which was a little bit unnecessary! Blush )
Howto some links would be brilliant, please!

I have still not got round to listening to the CD at all, ever! I really must!!

HowToLookGoodGlaikit · 04/05/2011 10:00
