Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Hi febes, I would move up a level after 10-14 days even if you are still struggling with some of the moves as the new routine will challenge your body in different ways. Our bodies learn to adapt very quickly to what we ask them to do, so variety in your workout is crucial in order to keep seeing changes. If you are finding level 1 too easy (or you are bored with it) before the ten days are up then either move on or use heavier weights so that it does become challenging again.

febes · 05/02/2011 06:20

Thanks lostgirl. I have ordered some 1kg weights and a super duper sports bra on line so should get them soon. Are 1 kg about right for a beginner?

LostGirl · 05/02/2011 07:11

Everyone will be different, I think most people here have started out with around 1 / 1.5kg. Give it a go and don't be afraid to get something heavier as you get stronger.

javotte · 05/02/2011 08:28

Hi! Ninth day today, I might try level 2 for a change. My tummy seems to be flatter and I'm wearing a skirt that was too small 10 days ago.

javotte · 05/02/2011 08:45

febes I'm using 1kg weights because I can't afford new ones. For me they are too light most of the time but still to heavy for some moves (L1 circle 3)

javotte · 05/02/2011 10:34

Oh dear. I've just baked a chocolate sponge with hazelnut buttercream for DH and the DCs. Must... leave... kitchen...

DottyDot · 05/02/2011 10:46

you insane people...!

I've been doing OK at level 1 and read some of the comments about level 2 being pretty OK really, even a bit easier...

WHAT?????! Tried it the other night and just couldn't do about half of it Sad

So, that's me back to level 1 - am managing to jump a teeny bit higher and put more into it and think I'll stick at level 1 for another month week or so Grin

BalloonSlayer · 05/02/2011 10:56

Well done people!

I have another small triumph to report.

On the back of one of my calves is the most hideous varicose vein. Now I am not all that vain (haha) and would happily wear shorts/skirts if it was just plain unsightly but it is far too revolting so I have to keep my legs covered. Which is a shame as - even as I say it myself - my legs are otherwise OK for an old bird.

Yesterday I noticed that the vein looks a lot better! It's still unsightly, but no longer absolutely hideous! I can only think that the muscles of my calves have got a bit bigger and that has affected it somehow. I am SOOO chuffed.

Abs dvd has arrived (along with a high court juror's citation Confused) but will try that monday. Have done a second day of the banish fat one and missed out the floor workout this time round, will do my shred when I am short on time and the other two when I have more time. Thankfully the kids are happy to let me get on with it whilst they play on the wii or watch peppa or some other mince that drives me crazy!!!Grin

Gogopops · 05/02/2011 17:27

Hi there. Just started Shred this week - on day 2 and absolutely aching all over. I've also started the Dukan diet at the same time but wondering if this is wise? (I feel ok though - not starving or feeling dizzy).
I have about a stone to lose over the next few weeks and really need to get my fitness up lose the flab around my arse to go ski-ing in 2 weeks time.

Very encouraging thread - everyone seems to be doing well which is very motivating. Smile

tummytickler · 05/02/2011 17:58

Hi, I have just started the Shred too. I did Day2 yesterday, but have had to skip today as no time, and I don't really want to do it at 10pm tonight!
I have about 3 stone to lose, but have not weighted myself for ages (I binned the scales!), so will judge by whether or not I can fit in the clothes stashed under my bed from before I got pregnant with dd!
I still really ache!
Trying to eat more healthily too. Have not touched any of the Wotsits in the cupboard, or the biscuits dh bought. I eat soup for one meal every weekday (I like soup, and enjoy making eat, so no hardship).
Hopefully i will see some results soon.
Feeling very inspired by all you on Level 2/3!

javotte · 05/02/2011 18:06

Just completed level 2 for the first time - OUCH! I can't do most of the plank moves!

Pinkglow · 05/02/2011 20:54

Hi I did Day 2 Level one today so I'm joining Smile

I have about a stone to lose so I will stick with this for 30 days and see what happens at the end of it.

Everyone seems to be doing really well with it one here

javotte · 06/02/2011 08:07

Hello! My arms and legs are not achy this morning so I'm wondering if I pushed myself hard enough yesterday.

Tortington · 06/02/2011 08:11

wht i this shred thing, and is there a link?

BalloonSlayer · 06/02/2011 08:57

Custardo it's the lady who does the exercise for the Biggest Loser and it's a 30 day exercise programme, with 20 mins of hard exercise a day, a bit like circuit training. Because it's only 20 mins (although tbh it's more like 25 with the warm up, cool down and preamble) it doesn't seem so bad, as by the time you think you can't bear it you realise you are quite near the end.

Amazon link Lots of reviews.

I haven't lost any weight, but I have toned up a lot. I think I bought the DVD for £3.77 or something before Christmas, it is one of the best £3.77s I have ever spent!

BalloonSlayer · 06/02/2011 09:02

javotte - no it means you are getting STRONGER! Yay!

DontCallMeBaby · 06/02/2011 09:19

Thought I'd come back and see where everyone's got to these days, it's been a while ... :) I'm also nearing Level 3, day 8 of Level 2 was yesterday. After those eight days, I can report that I really hate:

  • squat thrusts
  • the oblique twist/skaters' combo - it's just EXHAUSTING
  • the up-and-over abs move
  • chair squat and v-raise - makes me feel really quite peculiar

How have other people found the plank twist in the Level 2 though, the last abs move? I feel like I must be doing it wrong, because it's a doddle. It's such a relief to get to it, and there's Jillian going 'this move is intense', and Natalie collapsing onto her knees afterwards ... Confused

tummytickler · 06/02/2011 09:37

I am feeling awfu about missing Day3 yesterday so cannot wait to get back on it today. I do ache less for having a day off though (and I have only done 2 days of Level 1 Blush

tummytickler · 06/02/2011 12:01

Just done Day3 now with ds 3 watching. He was not very impressed at kept begging me to stop Grin . I stopped before the warm down - might do it again tonight. I certainly dont ache the was i did on Day 1 and 2! Progress!

javotte · 06/02/2011 12:53

tummytickler may I ask how old your children are? I can't exercise with DD (15 mo) around, so I have to wait until she is napping. And then DS (4) is upset because it used to be our "us-time".

southeastastra · 06/02/2011 13:09

dontcallmebaby! yes i find the last 'killer' plank twists easy too - i don't care though as it's right at the end and anyting harder would definitely kill me Grin

also hate squat thrusts - trying level three later

Gogopops · 06/02/2011 15:38

I'm so sore I can't even do my Day 3 level 1 today - I thought I was reasonably fit (I run fairly regularly) so this is a shock to the system. I think it's those sideways lunges with raises - killers!!

Hopefully a rest day will help with tomorrow's session. Blush

notyummy · 06/02/2011 17:30

Re the plank twists - I know what you mean about them feeling easy. I think what you need to make them do is twist your hips at the same time you are moving and twisting the knee. It shouldn't just be the leg moving- I find when j concentrate on doing that it makes it more intense.

javotte · 06/02/2011 18:22

Day 2 of level 2 - DONE! Even though I am unable to do more than two squat thrusts.
The good thing is that for 15 minutes after the shred I'm not feeling cold (I'm always freezing when I'm on a diet).
