Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Hello ladies, hope you dont mind if I join in....

Have lurked and been doing the shred for about 4 weeks. Dont know if Ive lost weight as dont have scales, however feel much better, have definitely toned up and clothes fit! On level 2 but go back to level 1 when I am tired. Will get to level 3 eventually!

Tanso, Im in the same "situation", eating healty, drinking loads of water etc etc. Was going to google but then saw your post. Was going to get some of that fibre drink if things did not improve but would be interested to know from an exercise geru if this is normal. Thanks

LostGirl · 04/02/2011 05:36

Tanso and Learning2Knit, I'm no guru but from what I've read exercise is supposed to help relieve constipation rather than cause it. Have you made any sudden large changes to your diet that might be resulting in you not getting enough fibre through lots of raw veg, wholegrains and high fibre fruit,eg apples, bananas, berries etc ?

flatmouse · 04/02/2011 08:02

OK, firstly Tanso and L2K - me too. Drinking lots, exercising, lots of fruit & veg to eat. I know that (assuming calf OK) if i go for a run tomorrow that will sort me out (it has that effect on me which is a pain when managing to do the longer distances!).
I wonder if it's related to the abs exercises as that's the main change.

And now to the scores on the doors. My first week "weigh and measure-in".
Mixed news. Weight-loss 1lb (see how much the poo would help ;-) ) Overall inch loss (arm, boobie, under boobie, belly button, hips n bum, thigh, knee, calf, cankle) was ...... 7" !!! I was amazed! That included putting 1/2" on on my arm, and losing 3.5" from my belly button area!!

Wasn't expecting that so majorly encouraged to continue.
Really need to look at diet now (reduce portion sizes and reduce bad carbs) so that i can loose some weight as i have a good 35lbs to loose.

javotte · 04/02/2011 08:09

First weigh-in after 7 days of the shred, and I've lost LESS weight than usual. Measurements are the same. I'm so dissapointed I cried on the scales!

javotte · 04/02/2011 08:22

flatmouse, congratulations! :)

susall · 04/02/2011 08:23

javotte do your clothes feel better? If the answer is yes then step away from the scales, hide them if need be as they can be destructive. Look through the other shred thread
here and read what Lost Girl has to say. Please dont give up because of what the scales dont say xxx

susall · 04/02/2011 08:40

Also should have said that at the start (and still) the fat loss was in areas that I did not measure ie knees, elbows, back fat and the tops of my hips where the width did not change much but the shelf has become a slope!!! I also have dents of uneven fat loss on my thighs but where they were small to start with they are now merging together revealing all my hard work underneath it.

javotte · 04/02/2011 08:48

Thanks susall, I'm not giving up after losing 42lbs, but this is SO frustrating!

flatmouse · 04/02/2011 08:54

You've lost 42lbs?? Well done javotte! (Please share the secret of your success so far?)

susall · 04/02/2011 09:15

Well done on the 42lb loss thats brill xxx

I was a slave to the scales and now I dont know what I weigh at all, I feel and look better now but I know if I stand on the scales I will self destruct and want to give up instantly with the biggest bar of chocolate I could find!!!

A lot of people have had the same issue with the shredding/weight loss thing and the best advice I got was to just not weigh yourself at all or for say a month.

crapbarry · 04/02/2011 09:21

oh, tanso, flatmouse and learningtoknit - I had the same problem. We're eating much better now too (wholemeal rather than white bread, veg with every meal, much to DH's dismay).

wonder why it is?

javotte · 04/02/2011 09:36

flatmouse I'm low-carbing and eating around 1000kcal/day but since my periods have stopped I'm not advising anyone to follow my example!

flatmouse · 04/02/2011 09:52

I know i need to reduce the carbs. Obviously with all the exercising i still need some though.
Have spoken to DH and we're going to work towards ensuring at least one dinner a week is a healthy soup (spiced cauliflower soup tonight).
Need to reduce wine on weekend (don't drink during week) - plan on swapping some to G&slimineT.

Just done my Day 8 Level 1 and am finding it alot easier (slightly diff cardio per yday update and the easier press-ups) now.

Other exercise today will be the cleaning (I find if i vacuum fiercly enough i can raise my heart rate!), and my daily "Let's Dance 2" "Let's Sweat" workout (which is fun!).

FoundWanting · 04/02/2011 12:34

Done day 5 level 2 after a day off yesterday. I am getting stronger and feel leaner but I'm staying away from the scales for a while.

Let's Dance is brilliant, isn't it? Grin

ontow · 04/02/2011 12:49

Which of her DVD's do you do? There seem to be loads to choose from. You've got me motivated!

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2011 13:10

I am trying to muster enough enthusiasm to start Level 3. I wish, like Kenny Everett, all my clothes could "suddenly all fall off" so that I had to put my gym kit on. It seems such a faff to get changed . . . < yawns > . . . < oh SHIFT it you lazy arse > . . . < ho hum what's on telly >

herbaceous · 04/02/2011 13:45

I'm quite looking forward to doing level 3. Madness. Though have similar motivational issues. Was going to do level 2 again this afternoon, but DP has just come home, meaning I may well find lots of distraction.

I've got cleaning to do - if I do it vigorously enough will that 'shred' me?

B52s · 04/02/2011 13:54

I shredded all of Janaury (31 days in a row) and am now doing it from the start again 3 times a week. My clothes fit better, I feel stronger and have more energy. Back on Level 1 again and now I can keep up with Natalie. TBH I found Level 2 harder than Level 3. Tis hard to motivate yourself, especially on beer night, but it makes you feel better once it's done. Keep it up, ladies Smile

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2011 14:22

Uuuuurgh

I have just done Level 3.

I want to cry. Sad

I couldn't seem to DO some of it. Not necessarily from a fitness point of view, more that I couldn't get my body to do it. That one where you hold the weights on the floor and lift them up in the plank - it hurt my hands and I felt really unstable. I also didn't like the way each exercise focuses in close-up on Anita straight away so you have no idea what to do for the not-easy version.

Hopefully I will get better.

B52s - I may try what you are doing if I ever get to when I have got to the end of Level 3.

B52s · 04/02/2011 14:27

Ah Slayer, with that one I didn't use the weight as they rolled all over the floor! I had to follow Anita for Level 3 most of the time, although, bizarrely, I found the full on sit ups easy and the travelling push ups okay. In Level 1 I struggled for DAYS getting the last abs one right (cycling crunches) but can do it easily now. I think much of it is 'knack'.

BalloonSlayer · 04/02/2011 14:42

Oh that makes me feel better B52S, thanks!

It's funny what you find easy and hard, isn't it? Oddly, I found that Superman one a complete doddle, like lying on my tummy for a rest. There they are saying "Oh wow this is so hard, well it's Level 3 now, whaddaya expect?" and I was thinking: well now, this is a nice break!

Momentarynamechange · 04/02/2011 18:12

Yay, well done BalloonSlayer, it's funny, I don't like the superman things at all as they make my lower back grumble! I try to concentrate all the crunch towards the buttock instead of the lower back, which is probably wrong! I have a problem with those weight lifting things too as i have wrist weights which I'm trying to grasp in my hands like big paws. (Reading that back, perhaps I should just wear them round my wrists for that??)

I honestly don't know what possessed me (probably the pile of work on my desk), but I did levels 2 and 3 back to back today, Oh. My. God!! By the last cardio bit, I was not a very good rockstar at all!

Really happy I did it though, feel completely and totally shredded Grin

Hope everyone has a good weeekend Smile

susall · 04/02/2011 18:29

I didn't shred today but I did do her banish fat DVD, which arrived tea time yesterday. I managed the whole thing which surprised me as I thought I would not be able to do all 7 circuits. A lot of the moves are in level 3 so I feel like I should really move up. Im just waiting for the abs dvd to arrive now Confused

fishie · 04/02/2011 21:39

getting the mat to provide enouigh padding is all in l3. my poor knuckles and elbows.

febes · 05/02/2011 01:52

Hi can I join? I shredded for the first time today and loved the workout. I'm really fat but have been low carbing and seem to be slowly losing through that. I am also ghoing on 2 long power walks a week and 1 session of aquasize. I'm going to aim to shred everyday but might have to miss a few if my days get too busy.
I haven't got hand weights yet but I'll look for some in the next few days. I also need a sports bra as I'm an F cup so horrendous boob wobble going on today. My kids get in my way (20 months and 3) but I'm hoping they will just join in with me.
When do you move up levels?? Just when you are finding it easy?? I think I'll be on level 1 for a while yet....
