Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

right. dh is home. kids are in bath. off i shred......

DontCallMeBaby · 31/03/2011 18:33

I take it the side planks are different in 6W6P to the ones at the end of 30DS L3? Cos I quite like those ... of course it's entirely possible that's because it means the day's shred is nearly over. :o

I have taken delivery of 6W6P today. Not out of the wrapper yet, and it won't be until my stomach muscles stop hurting (I think doing random ab exercises on DD's bedroom floor while she read me a book about Magellan wasn't one of my smarter ideas).

Besides, I'm going to the gym tonight though - trial visit. I am DREADING it. I want to fast forward to knowing how it all works, where everything is, just slinking in of an evening, bit of treadmill, few weights, quick swim. But the good news I discovered yesterday my mate is a member at the same gym, so we might meet up and drink coffee exercise together. And I've got a much better chance of persuading DD to do kids' circuits or something while I work out if her friend is there.

Haggis stick with it. I found that my weight started to move towards the end of 30DS and has continued to do so (I am not 'dieting' though simpy making trying to make good food choicesHmm). Did you take your measurements at the beginning? If not I would urge you to do so as soon as you can because seeing the inches dissappear is as good as, if not better, incentive to continue to shred as losing lbsGrin.

grace well done for shredding at the end of the dayShock.

6W6Pers I can do the side planks but it's my shoulders that hurt. Is it the same for you? I can do all of them bringing my knee up forward and up (I think) but thats all alright , it's my shoulders, (arm and the inside of my top knee) that's uncomfy. Wish I had someone to check my form, although I do cheat and jam my foot against the bed do you thing that helps? I have little tread on my trainers so I slip otherwise.

All Jillian converts get me! I bought myself a pair of SIZE 8* jeans yesterday and have been wearing them today. A big whoop whoop for meGrinGrin! I haven't had any that size for years, although I did borrow my daughters earlier in the week, but hers are a bit old and slack worn now. But mine are young, fresh and tight!!

Sorry to boast but I know how you'll appreciate it. Stick with it everyone its so worth it.

Am getting my hair cut and coloured for the first time in ages next week. I made a promise to myself that I would get it 'done' when I hit my first target weight. It's take years months (until I found Jillian, then weeks!!) to do it as I didn't really bother before.

*I think they are cut big but I DON'T CARE!!!!!

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 19:54

Size 8? Good for you, JelliBelli. I doubt I could get my ankle in a pair of those....

I'm Envy but in a nice way. Smile

gracelesslady · 31/03/2011 20:11

JelliBelli ~ WOO HOO YOOOOO!!!!! well done!! you're amazing. you're all amazing. i'm amazing - just did level 2 AND I DIDN'T DIE!!! managed almost all of it apart from 2 of scary jillian's recommended 5 second breaks. i did almost all the easier versions of everything, but still. did it. hurray!

thanks for all the encouragement. you're all lush :)

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 20:24

Right. There's no putting if off any longer. It's shred time.

jelli yey FANTASTIC !!!! And new look next week too- hope you'll still be recognisable ;-) x

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 21:04

'tis done. Bloody hell - I'm knackered. Felt really difficult again tonight.
How people do this with 3 (or was it 5?)kg weights is beyond me.

jelli - can I just ask (hope you don't think it's cheeky). What size were you when you started to shred? And how long ago was it?

DontCallMeBaby · 31/03/2011 21:49

I think just my bones would be a size 8 by themselves. :o

I've been to the gym, and it was GREAT. I ran for 20 minutes on the treadmill without really thinking about it, and then I had a little swim. DH has just made me a cuppa and it really HAS made my belly stop going BISCUITS!! BISCUITS NOW! This may be a miracle.

JelliBelli · 31/03/2011 21:56

Thanks everyoneGrin. As i say I think they are cut large.

Dontcall get you - don't give in to the biscuits, let all that work melt the fat!!

Tootired No not cheeky - I can't come here and boast Blush and expect no questions Wink.

My weight has graaaadduuuuaaaalllllyy been creeping up for years (~7). This christmas I was completely filling my size 10's and they were uncomfortable and I could have worna 12 I think Shock.

I started shredding on 21 Jan. I had a day off on February 19 and
finished shredding on Feb 20. Then I fiddled about deciding what to do for a few weeks redoing the shred levels with heavier weights, having a few days off here and there, I had visitors too which didn't help. I think I am much better following a programme as i don't have the self discipline otherwise...

I started 6W6P on Fri 18 Mar, had a day off on Tuesday 22 March and then yesterday, but Jillian says I only need to 6W6P 5x a week so I should be OK! But I tend to think the more I do the quicker the flab will 'melt' so that's what inspires me to do it each morning.

So, i have been exercising for 10 weeks tomorrow. I started off 30DS with soup tins as our lightest weights were too heavy at 1.5kg. Worked each day and gradually it became easier and I started to push to work with Jillian or even Natalie rather than Anita.

Although I think I sweat more now, it still feels like the early shred days (1-20) were the hardest, honestly. I have seen the changes in my body due to 30DS - overall I have gone down a dress size and am creeping towards shifting 10% of my bodyweight so then I think it will be noticable to others - and that is what gets me switching on the DVD each morning.

I have written a bit more and with height and weights on page 33 of this thread.

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 22:19

Thanks, Jelli. Sorry, should have read the whole thread first, but got a bit carried away.

I think you've done amazingly well. 10 weeks of exercise pretty much every day is not to be sneezed at! I'm sure your DH will be thrilled when he sees you. Wink

Right, I'm determined to crack on with this. You've given me the proof I need that it is worth it.

I guess my aim would be to fit in a pair of size 10 jeans, and perhaps I'll treat myself to a new swimming costume too. There is a woman who goes to the same swimming class as me (and my DS) who has a perfect 6 pack. She shows it off in a slinky black bikini. I can't imagine ever looking like that...

JelliBelli · 31/03/2011 22:52

Thanks Flatmouse didn't see you there.

TooTired you can imagine and realistically you could be like her. It all depends on how much work and time you want/are able to put into it. I am not being funny, just that if you had all the time in the world to do as you pleased and could excercise as much as you possibly could, you would look like her, but it may well be that life, family, work etc get in the way and you'll find some middle ground that you are happy with. That's not a bad thingSmile.

I would love to end up looking like Jillian, Anita and Nadalee, but whether I will or not remains to be seen. In the meantime, the exercise is almost fun at times, the rewards in the mirror are there (if a little slow) and i really do feel like I have more energy, can't wait for DH to return and we can 'do' more stuff without me being all flakey and tired.

I was horribly unfit before I started, I had trouble walking up the long steps in our village whilst talking, I couldn't do it without a break and after all the Jillian stuff I am looking forward to starting Couch to 5K Confused. Absolutely amazing. I am expecting it to be a lifechanging beginning for me.

JelliBelli · 31/03/2011 22:56

I mean, I am expecting to look back in years to come and be able to identify 30DS as the thing that changed my life.

febes · 01/04/2011 01:01

Well done Jellibelli!! What an inspiration!! I too feel that discovering 30DS was life changing!
I started BFBM today and was short of time so just do the warm up then the first 3 circuit and the cool down. I really liked the 1st and 3rd circuits but didn't so much like the 2nd but over all really enjoyed it. The circuits are 6 mins and I think she does 45sec of 4 different moves and then repeats. The first one is all kick boxing so that was really fun. The 3rd was 'old school' with butt kicks, knees up and jumping jacks so really gets the heart rate up. I miss the weight though so will go back to shred level 1 when I feel the urge. Tomorrow I'm going to try the other 4 circuits as I could have done another one today if I had more time. I don't think I could do more than 4 though so I'll have to slowly build up.

gracelesslady · 01/04/2011 07:24

morning all!! i've got such sore knees today - have noticed other people having this problem, but not sure whether to keep going or rest them... hmmm. otherwise feel fine! might do level 1 while dd has her snooze later cos that hasn't made my knees hurt.

happy friday :)

flatmouse · 01/04/2011 09:26

Just done Day 6 L1 6W6P - good grief - i'd say it doesn't get easier but it must do as i'm managing to achieve more each time (and somehow get sweattier - TMI?).

It's definitely having an effect - the whole area looks so much better with some dents in the snowdrifts, I can hold my stomach in quite comfortably now - AND i need a new belt, my current belt for my jeans (also loose) is on tightest setting and still not tight!! I've not weighed or measured for 3 weeks - will leave until i've finished level 1 i think. (Having lost loads measure-wise but not weight-wise during 30DS and then stopped loosing whilst restarting 30DS!)

I'm more a 5 day a week girl, with trying to get the odd extra in (jogging/zumba).

graceless go for it but be careful - if you injure yourself (speaks from experience) you will be incredibly frustrated that you can't do the shredding (other exercise) when you're in the mindset to do it! Maybe adjust things slightly so less impact on knees (don't go as deep in lunges etc).

Momentarynamechange · 01/04/2011 09:32

Morning Shredders Smile

Long time no see sadly. Wow - everyone is doing so well. Jellibelli and all you shape-changers, well done you! That is seriously fantastic Grin

Now everyone seems to be progressing to new Jillian instruments of torture fitness and I feel left out .

Our house is in total chaos and I'm lucky if I manage 2 Shreds a week Sad. And now we've had to move upstairs while the work is going on, my poor goldfish have to endure 20 mins of turbulence until I can work out a better option Grin

I'm guessing life will be back to some sort of normality in 2 month's time so I'll just have to let it go and fit Shred in when I can. I had done the 30 days before that, so can look on it as 'Shred maintenance' for the time being. Once the work is finished, I can set myself a new challenge so it may not turn out all bad after all...

Well done everyone, keep Shredding or what ever other DVD you're all currently on Smile

Threesteps x

gracelesslady · 01/04/2011 09:44

thanks for the advice flatmouse - my knees were the tiniest bit twingy when i started level 1, but level 2 is obviously much harder on them. i think it's the forward and backward lunges: they go so quickly i can't get properly aligned and i have hyperextensive joints (ie i'm really bendy) so not being aligned is bad news for me. i think what i might do is alternate L1 and L2 days so that my quads develop strength without doing repetitive things to my joints. does that make sense and sound sensible?

threesteps, it sounds like you have your hands full!! well done for doing any shredding at all at the moment. i think shred maintenance sounds like a fine plan and i'm sure the fishies enjoy the bounce around - must be fun!!

Momentarynamechange · 01/04/2011 10:07

Thanks graceless Smile

I could think about doing some stuff outside, but I hate outdoor running, running full stop actually! I walk the dog every day so that, and the occasional Shred, will have to do for the time being. I also don't drive so tend to walk or cycle, which all helps but doesn't have the big impact of regular shredding.

How are you getting on apart from the knees? If you think it's the lunges causing it, are you sure your knees aren't extending beyond the line of your foot when you lunge (if that makes sense?!). Apparently that can hurt the knees...

haggis01 · 01/04/2011 10:49

Thanks Jelli Belli for the advice. I am also going to look at your weights advice as I think the weights I have been using are a bit heavy (2 x 1.5kg) and straining things. Good tip about your bed for the side planks - I slammed my feet against the base of the sofa today and managed to finish them - although my shoulder is now achy.

Graceless -Jillian does keep mentioning that the lunges can hurt knees if your knee comes forward beyond your toes, also some of the cardio is quite high impact. You could do more knee rotations (plus opposite way) on the warm up and make sure you always lock your back leg in some of the lunges where Natalie does that as it stops your knee moving forward and do give the knees a bit of a rest. I usually do a longer cool down and a few extra exercises in the warm up as I feel they are a bit weak/short in the DVD's.

Good to hear that those who have kept going have seen results - I would like to lose 1 stone to take me out of overweight BMI into healthy but would mainly like to lose muffin top - will be 50 next year and feel it may be my last chance to escape elasticated crimpolene skirts in the future! But I am getting stronger - matching Jillian in L1 6W6P and mostly Natalie in 30DS and could only do Anita initially - so I am not going to get despondent.

Good to hear about BFBM as I have my eye on that as our next purchase. Anyone tried the Yoga one? or the new Rip it in 30 days?

Thanks

gracelesslady · 01/04/2011 10:54

hi threesteps - i'm always really careful not to do that because it does cause damage. i think what's happening is that in lunges if your gluteals are not contracted sufficiently, your femur is not properly externally rotated, and therefore your knee doesn't hinge at a 90 degree angle - it kind of bends inwards, and even a tiny bit of misalignment like that can cause pain. and probably injury. so slow and properly is probably best for me. there's no rush really - sunny holiday isn't till the end of august!

in terms of how i'm getting on - trying not to be too despondent that i'm not seeing any changes. i started doing davina's buff dvd on march 1st, something every day, and then found 30DS and started that on march 10th - who wants to do 1 hour 10 mins when you can do 20?! so far, i weigh 1lb more, have gained 2% body fat, an inch around my bum and no inch loss anywhere else.... i'm definitely working hard at this - a sweaty, sobbing heap after most shreds, so am keeping calm and carrying on. change will come soon i hope? won't it??!!! thanks for asking though - did you have impressive change after your first 30 days? (and apologies if you've already posted it all and i missed it Wink xxx

knottyhair · 01/04/2011 10:57

Haggis01, same here, I needed to lose a stone to get into healthy BMI range - 1lb to go! Sounds like you're seeing really progress. BFBM is good but mostly cardio stuff and 50 mins start to finish. I've just ordered No More Trouble Zones which I think is similar in format to BFBM but more strength/weights type stuff which I prefer. Would like Rip It in 30 Days but I've only seen it in Region 1 which I can't play. Did 6W6P again this morning, and managed whole sets of side plank Bea version. But still VERY uncoordinated with the burpees, particularly the second lot!

knottyhair · 01/04/2011 10:58

Real progress Blush.
