Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Well done LQ and welcome to the madhouse.

Be prepared to ache tomorrow but remember its your muscles repairing themselves and growing, hurrah! Stick with it and work through it tomorrow if you possible can as you may well be more comfortable after shredding that you will be when you wake up tomorrow Grin.

That's a tricky one, earlyonemorning. My downfall is leftovers (from my fussy children). I hate waste, so it feels better to eat a bit of discarded pizza than put it in the food waste. I am working on this though. Good luck with the party. And well done for shredding so early!

gracelesslady · 02/04/2011 08:26

well done early! i'm still mooching about drinking my coffee... Blush

something that might help with the nibbles/hoovering up the kids leftovers - try to think of the food that you're about to eat as waste whether you put it in the bin or put it in your mouth. if you don't need it (because you're not hungry) it's just waste either way and you don't need it. sometimes helps to find something else to soothe yourself with, like a cup of tea or a cuddle off someone nice Wink

hope this helps xxxx

knottyhair · 02/04/2011 08:52

Great advice graceless. Just done Level 2 (am going back through the levels). Still don't like it as much as level 3, especially the bloody military press leg raise things and the v-fly wotsits.

TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 09:03

Yes, Graceless. Good advice. Will try to stick to it! I have, however, found giving up biscuits quite easy, although the odd kitkat is a nice treat. Only 112 kcals, I think.

Knotty, contemplating stating Level 2 tonight, but am worried I won't be able to do any of it. Wish me luck!

knottyhair · 02/04/2011 09:11

TooTired, give it a go! You might like it! Some of it's OK, there's just a couple of moves that I find "awkward", shall we say, and they haven't really got any easier for me. I like the walking press-ups though.

gracelesslady · 02/04/2011 09:21

level 2 done! jumping up and done in manner of rocky at top of steps

have good saturdays shredders! xxx

gracelesslady · 02/04/2011 09:22

urm, that was down obviously too much blood coursing around body....

DontCallMeBaby · 02/04/2011 11:31

gracelesslady funny, I was telling a friend exactly the same thing the other day (her habit is finishing off the yogurt her toddler asks for, then abandons after a single spoonful). If you don't need or want it, it's wasted anyway, putting it in your mouth or the bin makes no difference. I've been known to resort to 'spoiling' leftovers though - most recently it was the bowl I'd made rocky road in for DD's part. I allowed myself one delicious spoonful, then ran the rest of it under the hot tap before I could scoff the lot.

Cat is back to normal (normal for him, that is, he's not remotely normal) this morning. I've never seen antibiotics work so fast! He was decidedly perkier half an hour after we got back from the vet, and this morning he's his usual shouty, dashing about, sniffing at stuff self.

gracelesslady · 02/04/2011 13:11

dh has taken kids off to park so i can go to sleep (am at work tonight) but have been having quick peruse of scary jillian's other dvds on amazon - i reckon i've got a good 2 months of progression with 30DS but i wondered about NMTZ for after. have any of you done it? and if you have do you like it? it's a bit longer and the thing i love about the shred is that you're done so quickly. i can get all my other stuff done during dd's nap and i'm not sure i'd do a 50 min workout, but then maybe if i could eliminate my love handles, muffin top and wobbly arms for good (blurb on dvd cover!) i might do Wink

what do you reckon?

knottyhair · 02/04/2011 13:19

I'm currently awaiting the arrival of NMTZ, so will let you know! I think it's like BFBM though in that you can do the whole thing or just a few circuits if you're short of time.

flatmouse · 02/04/2011 17:15

Done today's 6W6P. Anyone else want to slap JM when looking fresh as a daisy she says "ooh I'm getting a little sweaty" - while we are drowning in a reservoir of our own sweat!!

I appear to have lost weight from my feet - last year couldn't get them into fit-flops at all. Am no wearing a lovely pair of brown ones :-)

lizardqueenie · 02/04/2011 17:26

Hi ladies, well I do actually plan to shred today. In fact I am going to do it shortly I have just heard that dh is on his way back from a party with dd he reckons 20 mins, i think at least a good 40 at this time of day. time for me to shred and shower before they return! I ache today but feel good for it! Grin

Wont pick any responses up until later but what else do you guys to do to warm up & cool down before and after the shred? Ta :)

BalloonSlayer · 02/04/2011 17:31

lizardqueenie I do nothing to warm up and most days to cool down I just walk about in my exercise clothes and then get dressed in my normal clobber when the sweat has dried [skank emoticon]

Sometimes I have a shower and wash my hair... but most of the time I can't afford the time, as I leave it and leave it until "Oh there's only 35 mins before the school run left to shred in."

Grin
TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 18:40

Blimey. Just done Day 1, Level 2. Horrible - just looked in the mirror and it's not a pretty sight. Think tomato, with sweat running down the sides....

Had to do all the easy versions just about, and couldn't manage all of the last torture abs exercise at the end. Squat thrusts must surely be the work of the devil. Cardio seemed much harder too - that was one bit I could do quite easily in Level 1.

Am worried I haven't got the plank positioning right. Can't tell where my bum is/should be. Any tips, ladies.

Right, quick cool off then my turn to bath my DC.

Have a nice evening shredders.

lizardqueenie · 02/04/2011 19:42

Day 2 level one done. Im shreded and shattered! Literally hobbling around! Really like the fact it is done in 20 mins though.

Ha ha! Thanks for that "tip" Balloon Grin

TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 19:44

Back of my neck/top of shoulders quite sore. Does that mean I'm doing sit ups wrong, and putting too much stress on them? Feel a bit de-moralised actually.

JelliBelli · 02/04/2011 20:57

Tootired you've just exercised them to within an inch of their lives Grin what do you expect? Or is it a different soreness?

I think L2 is hard, hard work on arms and shoulders.

Just finished 6W6P D13ish. For some reason my hands are shaking now Confused all a bit odd. Perhaps I put more effort in than usual Hmm.

Have a great evening all.

TooTiredToArgue · 02/04/2011 22:36

Not sure, Jelli. Fear I may have been slightly 'phoning it in' on a couple of the exercises. Only managed a couple of those double skipping rope thingys as was huffing and puffing like an old cart horse by then. Why are knees up so much harder than butt kicks? I never thought I'd say it, but I almost miss them.....

Neck still a bit odd Confused. I'll reassess in the morning.

flatmouse · 03/04/2011 09:00

Oooh jelli you'll soon be doing L2 of 6W6P.... Let me know how scary it is?
Thoroughly spoilt for mothers day - set of adjustable weights - no excuses now then ;-) (although spending day on sidelines of rugby pitch so will trial them tomorrow)

Hope everyones aches wear off soon!

JelliBelli · 03/04/2011 18:38

Tootired I hope your neck is much improved today, and Shock at phoning it in!!! Although I will confess to quite looking forward to the first day of a new level as it means I miss the first few goes of each new move as I am 'studying' the DVD to ensure my form is correctWinkShockGrin.

Agree with the knees up aswell. But Nadalee finds them hard too remember.

I think plank position should be like <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=static.howstuffworks.com/gif/core-abdominal-and-lower-back-exercises-23.jpg&imgrefurl=health.howstuffworks.com/wellness/diet-fitness/exercise/core-abdominal-and-lower-back-exercises10.htm&h=254&w=400&sz=20&tbnid=92Ecg4EK2dSyPM:&tbnh=79&tbnw=124&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dplank%2Bposition&zoom=1&q=plank+position&usg=__rzH3YE3xQ2NCy-LlMNad0LkR1M0=&sa=X&ei=KqyYTcecBpCzhAe9u6SACQ&ved=0CCwQ9QEwBA" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this but Jillian and Co always seem to do them 'bum high' I think. I endeavor to do them like my link but suspect I end up like the DVD girls.

I'm not sure that I ever mastered the double skip thingy. It blew my brains doing quick hands and high feet, so I just jumped high and tried to keep time with the DVD and did big circles with my hands to keep (!) the heartrate up.

Flatmouse I am due to day L2 on Saturday, feeling slightly excited at a change and slightly apprehensive as you'll imagine. Will report back on completetion if I am alive. Weight lose on feet Confused? Strange!

Hope rugby was injury free. Last time I watched DS one (not DS) was carted off in an ambulance after a head collision with his teammate. He just dropped down cold and didn't move for (20?) minutes when the ambulance turned up. Both were fine though.

Lizardqueenie I do nothing extra to warm up, I exercise first thing and afterwards by the time I've finished my breakfast I have stopped sweating and cooled down enough to make a shower worthwhile. However, when I was doing 30DS L1 I did add in some extra stretches to start with at the end as I hoped they might keep some of the pain away. not sure if it worked but I wasn't tooooo hobbley.

baby Glad cat is ok, they're a worry eh? Bless'em.

I used to be a 'just clear up the kid's food' person but I stopped myself a while ago. Chuck it in the bin as soon as they are done.

The food is rubbish. It is likely to be cold.

Don't make your body a dustbin after putting all that hard sweaty work into 30DS.

Just chuck it out, it's OK, just chuck it in the bin.

An extra thought, what a way to waste yummy calories by eating cold, second hand, half eaten food [vomit emoticon].

Grin

PS why do my posts get soooooo long Confused!!Grin

gracelesslady · 03/04/2011 19:23

evening all

no shredding for me today - v busy night last night and am too whacked after only 3 hours sleep this morning. still, have had a very pleasing mother's day - living the dream in pizza express for a late lunch, mainly walking dd (16months and not quite walking by herself) up and down the stairs and accompanying other two to the loo about 95 times (why do they find it so engaging??!!)

i reckon my body's too knackered to do anything properly anyway and i shall get back to the shred tomorrow.

lizard i always do extra stretches because i think the ones jillian does are inadequate. stretches need to be held for at least 30 seconds to allow the muscle to adapt to the longer length (spindle cell theory science fans!) and i think you'd be sore if you only did the ones she does. also my bum needs stretching attention! will try and find a link for the one i do....

hope you've all had good mum's days.

xx

Evening all,

No shredding for me today, though neck feels better (thanks for asking Jelli). Got round to measuring myself this morning, so now have all the vital statistics I need. Was feeling quite good about myself until I made the fatal mistake of looking at my body in the mirror of the changing room in John Lewis today. God, what a sight. Didn't realise my thighs were quite so wobbly and unattractive, not to mention my stomach Sad. I obviously have some way to go - think I have been a bit carried away with the whole exercise thing and had been looking at myself with rose coloured glasses.

So, tomorrow is another day. Will give it my all and try and perfect that plank position. Onwards and upwards, and all that.

On the plus side, I didn't eat DS's crusts this morning, which is progress for me! You see, Graceless, I was listening to your advice.

Earlyonemorning I've only just started 1kg weights, and they feel pretty weighty to me ! Well done on the party - I'd have scoffed all the chocolate fingers if it were me. Smile
