Thought I might take the liberty to start a new thread as can't seem to cram another post onto the old one and I have some positive news to start a new one with! :)

I have lost weight - almost as much as Jillian claims you will and have 2 days left!

------

Everyone is doing so well - putting me to shame with talk of Level 3 going on! Envy

Hi everyone. Just did 6W6P for the 4th time, but only 3rd day on the trot. flatmouse, I struggle with the burpees as well - not too bad the 1st time round but when it comes to double time, it's impossible for me! Managed one and a half sets of side plank knee raises advanced version, so I can see a little bit of progress! Shred L2 does get easier, but it's still my least favourite level.

Labradorlover · 30/03/2011 10:08

I'm ignoring the fact that spider planks even exist Smile......Still level 1 second time around. However due to the chat on this thread, I did my first day of couch to 5K last night. Was a breeze, thanks to having been shredding for a while now.
Thank you MN and everyone on this thread for getting me motivated.

knottyhair · 30/03/2011 15:08

Just ordered Jillian's "No More Trouble Zones" - anyone done this??

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2011 15:43

Hi there have just posted on another thread on S&B, am thinking of getting the shred dvd as reccomended by a couple of people on here to help fight my flab. Am putting in an amazon order tonight so should be shreading by the end of the week. Can I just ask - it sounds like there is probably quite a lot of jumping up and down - has anyone worried about thier floorboards as quite frankly I am concerned about flying through mine!

Ta :)

Leverkusen · 30/03/2011 15:53

lizard, I'm only on level 2 day 5, but there is quite a bit of jumping, more in L2 than 1. Awkward as I live directly above my landlord, but he has yet to complain about me bounding around during the early hours Grin

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2011 16:02

Ha ha! Grin Thanks Leverkusen. Its just that I feel if I were to jump in my living room everything else might jump off of its shelf!

BalloonSlayer · 30/03/2011 16:16

My 6W6P DVD arrived today!

I am quite excited. I have been shredding since, oooh, January? and I am a bit bored with shredding now.

Will try to start 6W6P tomorrow...

TooTiredToArgue · 30/03/2011 16:50

ladies,
Can I join? Was on s&b thread, but that one didn't seem to get as much traffic as this one, and I need some help to keep motivated.

So, I'm a relative newby - tonight will be day 6, level 1.

So far haven't noticed much difference to shape, but the exercises seem easier (apart from push ups and sit up/bicycle thing, which I have no idea how to do!)

For those of you who are not moving on to 6W6P, have your shapes changed completely? That's what I'm hoping for

lizardqueenie · 30/03/2011 19:07

Whats 6W6P??

Well done Lottie! Isnt it great when you do exercise and you get that high of feeling just so chuffed with yourself? I think it actually makes me feel brighter, more positive and make better food choices. The good thing about this dvd must be you start off in one place and then you can see yourself improving all of the time- doing moves you didnt think you would be able to do I have been trying to buy this dvd on amazon all afternoon and keep getting interupted. I came across the Six week six pack one. Reading the reviews it sounds horrendous challenging! Think i will start with the shred first, lots and lots of flab to loose!

gracelesslady · 30/03/2011 20:59

no shredding or anything today - v busy shift at work and am about to devour a massive pile of chips :o

will be brave and do level 2 tomorrow. honest....

febes · 30/03/2011 22:55

Just finished day 10 level 3!!!! Thats me totally shredded then Hmm. I will give BFBM a go tomorrow and will be also going back to level 1 of shred and trying to up my weights and keep up with Nat more. I'll probably swap between Shred and BFBM depending on how much time I have. I feel I need to get 6W6P to keep up with the group too Grin. I think the next thread will have to be a general Jillian Michaels appreciation thread since we are all hooked!

Labradorlover · 31/03/2011 00:27

Hello lizard and Tootired
My floorboards are fine. Have never done an exercise DVD before, but this is great as it's only 20 mins. Am on my second round of the shred, and am sooo much stronger. I've not weighed or measured myself (measuring is best to see the results) and I'm not dieting, but all my old clothes fit now, so have dropped at least a dress size and am much more toned. Friends have noticed and now have their own Shred DVDs Grin.

hey lottie!! i'm going to do it tonight when the kids are in bed. usual shredding time of when the baby has her nap got used up with a work thing i had to do, but am going to brave it when dh is home. on the upside, i did a 45 minute power walk to the work thing, pushing dd in her buggy, into the wind. am feeling v positive about the whole thing just trying not to expect massive changes immediately. last time i weighed myself i was 8 st 10lbs, so i'm not overweight, i've just got the upper body strength of a banana and lots of wobbly bits left from the last baby (she's 16 months) which i'd love to get rid of. am doing measurements as don't actually expect to lose much weight at all, just sort of swop the fat-weight for muscle-weight. and i put on an inch around my bum after a week of shredding... not going to measure again until i've finished level 3.

will report back if i survive L2D2 :o!!

BalloonSlayer · 31/03/2011 15:43

I did Day 1 of L1 6W6P

I enjoyed it, it moves very fast and seems to be over with quicker than the Shred although it's longer.

But . . . I couldn't do the side planks at all. Sad

I just couldn't support myself. I am not sure what I am going to do instead while they are doing them, apart from have a breather Grin

I now feel all "exercised" and my stomach feels warm. And my exercising clothes were VERY sweaty.

CleverCircusFlea · 31/03/2011 15:50

Just did d2 l3... Let me list the things i hate about it:

  • sumo squat thingies
  • travelling push ups
  • rock star jumps
  • side planks
And probably something else I have forgotten.

I also hate the leg "scissors", purely because my stomach looks huge when i do them :( Blush

flatmouse · 31/03/2011 15:55

BalloonSlayer I just did Day 5 (i think) of L1 6W6P. I'm not finding it fun any more - prefer shredding (and prefer the shorter time of shredding - think because you're doing defined circuits there you know the end is in sight for each one).
Am determined to do 15 days and then attempt L2 tho!
I couldn't do side planks AT ALL day 1 - but now i can at least hold the position and manage about 5. I've decided to attempt to do that and build up as opposed to change it for something else.
I can't do burpees either but am getting slightly better each time.

Am also very hot and sweaty and wondering if i can shower n change before fetching kids from after school clubs at 4:30?!

haggis01 · 31/03/2011 16:21

Hi all hope its ok to join in am starting to flag and neeed support
I have been shredding for about three weeks now and have added in 6W6P for variey some days as of last week. Could not and never have been able to do push ups - but can now - not as many as the amazonian Natalie but not bad.

6W6P is a killer - Couldn't do side planks the first day either and still struggling (4 times on) really hurts my groin. I get extremely hot and sweaty on 6W6P - its doing it all in double time on the second circuit round, I also think I hurt my neck a bit doing the moves so quick as you can't concentrate on keeping everything in the safe position.

I think I am losing my enthusiasm as I really hate the music and although I am stronger (can do push ups yeah)and am a bit more toned I have lost not a single ounce and have definetly not been phoning it in - after week one my jeans button was definetley loser and not struggling with my belly but since then nothing - quite dispiriting. I am not on a diet but am not a big eater and eat a good veggie diet (perhaps too many carbs?) but am over 40 and longing to lose a stone. Are others seeing results?

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 16:43

Right, completed Day 7 Level 1 last night, and scared myself by watching Level 2. Yikes, that's some jump up! Even Jillian was sweating a bit.

Can someone help with basic question. With press ups, should hands be slightly in front of your shoulders and slightly wider, but blank hand position is directly below your shoulders. Is that right?

P.S. Have had no alcohol now since last Saturday. I could really do with a glass tonight, but must remain strong. Also must not eat DCs left overs Blush

notyummy · 31/03/2011 17:10

Pres-up - arms quite a bit wider than shoulders. Plank - directly underneath.

Weight loss - no booze, and yes, I find cutting right down on carbs def makes a difference. Bread and potatoes can go....and only v small portions of brown rice/wholemeal pasta.

knottyhair · 31/03/2011 17:18

It's really frustrating when you feel like you're working so hard and there's no weight loss, isn't it? I've been Shredding (and other Jillian DVDs) since mid Jan and have lost nearly a stone, and the only way I can do it is by logging my calorie intake. I use Livestrong/myplate, and it calculates how many calories you can have a day based on your age, height, weight, how much you want to lose per week and activity level. If I didn't do this, I wouldn't have a clue how much I was eating to be honest, and when you think you have to eat 500 calories less per day in order to lose 1lb per week, it's really helpful to see exactly what you're eating. It works for me but it is time consuming!

haggis01 · 31/03/2011 17:43

Thanks for the diet advice - will start calorie logging. I am veggie and because of not having the meat (I also don't eat cheese) I do think I tend to rely too much on carbs for getting full - am thinking of eating more tofu and perhaps some salmon again to up the protein.

well done knottyhair - 500 calories less a day - that IS a lot. Will have a look at myplate - thanks

TooTiredToArgue · 31/03/2011 18:01

thanks for the advice. That's the only thing with a DVD - you have no one to point out that your bum/head/arm is sticking up when it shouldn't be....

Agreed, 500 cals a day is a lot less. Well done Knotty Hair. I'm not so bothered with weight, more toning up overall, and trying to lose the old mummy tummy. I'm sure my jeans feel slightly looser today, or am I deluding myself being over optimistic? Confused
