Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

How about pimms and diet lemonade ?!! I must admit I like to slip a bit of gin in a pimms n lemonade too .... For a more wintry drink gin n diet Ginger beer is nice and warming .

Littlefish · 23/01/2011 18:49

Wizzler - I made a cheats cheese sauce using 50g grated cheddar (6pp), milk (2pp) and 2 teaspoons of cornflour (1pp). A total of 9pp, but shared between two, only 4.5pp per portion which I didn't think was too bad. It wasn't a lot of cheese sauce, more of a cheesey drizzle Wink, but it tasted good! It was definitely a viable alternative to cheese sauce made with butter and plain flour.

StarvingMarvin · 23/01/2011 18:58

Thanks for the jeans tips, I have seen some brand new jeans from Next on Ebay for less than half of the shop price. I'm also going to pop to Asda next week to have a look at theirs.

Bit of a bad day again today, took the kids into London for the day and ended up in pizza hut for lunch! Had 3 slices which amounts to 32pp! Going to have a sald for dinner and just pray I lose something in the morning!
Littlefish Thanks for that recipe for cheese sauce, will def use that!
Norma Was having a nose at your profile, you look great! but sorry you are feeling so rubbish!
blondes Is that 1pp for home made yorshires or shop bought? And if home made does it include the oil used to cook them? I love them but have been steering clear as I assumed they were the work of the devil as far a WW was concerned but for 1pp I can welcome them back with open arms!

LuckyLight · 23/01/2011 19:13

me again. Ok, just had a bit of a revelation in my head, nothing to do with dieting, but we have been having terrible problems with DD1 at bedtime, calling out and general attention seeking. She just called out to me earlier....'Mummy, when are you gonna be finished on the computer?' in droning voice. And I think it has made me realise, that she is seeking my attention because while she is watching Night garden with her little sis, I am on laptop (in same room) on MN/FB. I do it now so that I am then 'free' when DH gets home from work, cos I think I wind him up being on it too.
So....enough is enough....I'm gonna have a break from the thread. I find it so hard to keep up, so I'm always checking it to try and keep up. I will post again but not for a while, my girls need me Sad.

Keep up the good work ladies!!

I'll be back, but I need to 'de-MN' for a while!!!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 19:27

froot when i lost my weight before i used to go out for meals and take a bottle of diet lemonade with me, as many pubs/restaurants dont sell it and no one minded so take your diet tonic :)

benbenandme Shock at M&S - hope they will send you some vouchers

wizzler i had some the other day and was 3pp Shock complete waste of 3pp i felt :( and the jeans in charity shops are normally £4/5 each

lucky sorry you are leaving us :( tbh if your girls are watching tv there is no reason why you cant mn/fb in same room but hope to see you back here soon

bluebump · 23/01/2011 19:30

Just marking my place on this new thread. Weigh in day for me tomorrow, I'm hoping I didn't put anything on this week like last week! Grin

teaandcrumpets · 23/01/2011 19:36

Hi! Just joined Mumsnet (my daughter is in her teens). I also recently joined WW on-line and am adjusting to the new points system, which is a lot more complicated than the old one. I've lost 6 lbs in the last two weeks, though, and hope I am in it for the long haul.

Is anyone else doing the WW plan and using Alli for a weight loss boost? I've not had any of the nasty side effects you sometimes read about, but I also don't know whether it's actually helping...

vnmum · 23/01/2011 19:46

Norma sorry you're feeling rotten
Lucky sad you are leaving us for a while, hope you will be back soon

I'm doing ok this week. since my illness on thursday and friday i've not been overly hungry and actually can't manage to eat my daily points, which is a first.

I have just been looking for a reward for when i get to goal other than clothes and i think i might have to persuade DH to let me get a Kindle.

benbenandme · 23/01/2011 19:47

Blondes - nope, just an email saying thanks for letting them know, I thought they could at least have refunded the item as I probably wouldn't have bought it if I'd known it was 12 pps Hmm

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 20:18

complain again ben, its false advertising and you only brought it as said on the front low pp

bluebump hers hoping for a loss

teaandcrumpets welcome

LeeWT · 23/01/2011 20:18

Welcome tea .. I've used alli in the pastand had side effects but didn't find it very useful. A friend of mine is on reductil which she finds brill ( also on prescription)

lucky sorry you're taking a break I know what it's like to question things and have parenting guilt.. I mn/fb when dd is watching tv but I know what you mean it could be time for cuddles. Maybe after a break you could find some time in the day just fr you x

well I am out of points and haven't had dinner yet! Ds hasn't slept a wink in 4 nights since getting out of hospital so I am exhausted! Took ds to an indoor playcentre this morning and had a big scone with real butter. No idea of pps so estimated 12, then had Sunday lunch. Had fairly small portion but with 2 roasties and gravy, chicken and peas I estimated 16 to be on the safe side. Will eat dinner out of weeklies.

Dh and I have placed an embargo on takeaways unless it's from this healthy Thai place we sometimes go as they don't use MSG or additives. No point having Chinese as it takes me couple days to lose the bloat!

Any suggestions for shop bought treats that don't require cooking and respective points?

Norma hope you feeling better xxx

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 20:26

Lucky - enjoy your break, and hope to see you on here again from time to time. Your presence will be sorely missed. Please promise that you'll come back and post your photo when you get to goal, so we can all celebrate with you. Smile

Littlefish · 23/01/2011 20:39

teaandcrumpets - I've been prescribed Xenical/Orlistat by my GP. I don't take it as regularly as I should (about 2/3 of the time, but not at all over Christmas).

I've lost 29.5lbs in total since the beginning of October, including about 13lbs since I started taking the Orlistat.

hmc · 23/01/2011 20:45

Well just read thread and found out that I am a prize winner along with Blondes and Loralei - am stunned and delighted Grin, thanks for the congrats everyone...

Sorry you are feeling pants Norma - IBS and sinus trouble at the same time sounds thoroughly miserable, I hope you feel better tomorrow after an early night

Lucky - will miss hearing from you, don't take a break for too long will you?

Glad you are on the mend vnmum - I hesistate to say congrats on the 4.5lbs weight loss when it was due to d and v! - but I suppose at least there was a silver lining to feeling horribly ill!!

Well done to mumto2 for your loss this week

Righto, off downstairs to watch a Lovefilm movie with dh (Splice!)

StarvingMarvin · 23/01/2011 20:57

Lucky Sorry to see you go but thank you for all your insipration so far and hope to see you back soon, or at least popping in to let us know how you are getting on!

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 22:29

You got me worried then and I had to check my puds

Icelands own make are 1pp each :)

Aunt bessies are 2pp each Shock

We have both in freezer - dh will obv be eating ab ones

StarvingMarvin · 24/01/2011 08:02

Blondes, my food list says Aunt Bessies original yorks are 1pp. The large light & crispy are 2pp.

I just weighed in, stayed the same- not suprised really, given all the junk food I have eaten this weekend and going out twice for my birthday midweek! Well and truely back on the wagon this week! I am aiming for a 3lb loss this week to make up some ground.

Good luck to nayone else weighing in today.

teaandcrumpets · 24/01/2011 10:00

littlefish That's a phenomenal weight loss in a few months! Do you think the Orlistat has made a difference since you have been taking it? I'm still in my first month's bottle, and I will need to decide soon whether to order more.

On another subject: breakfast. Everyone says how important it is. For the first week of the new WW plan I was hungry when I got up in the morning, so I ate porridge and things. Now I'm not hungry when I wake up, as my body is adjusting to me putting less into it. Do you all favour listening to your bodies and eating when you're hungry, or do you think breakfast kick-starts your metabolism in the morning?

teaandcrumpets · 24/01/2011 10:03

Oh - and thanks for the Welcomes, ladies! :)

sweetheart · 24/01/2011 10:10

Morning all,

I have woken up today with a really bad feeling of guilt, like I have been naughty all weekend and whilst I had a KFC on Friday and a roast last night they were both within my daily points - didn't even dip into my weekly's. I feel like it will be a miracle if I lose weight this week so will have to see come Wednesday.

littlefish - so nice people are noticing your weight loss, well done!
lucky - sorry you feel you can't stay, hope you are feeling more positive soon. Be good to yourself!
lee - hope you get a good nights sleep soon!
hello teanadcrumpets - you name is making me want tea and crumpets!!!!!

Just to catch up on some of the chat - I normally go to vodka and diet coke when I'm doing ww. Managed not to drink any wine yesterday and actually haven't had any since new year. Trying to keep off it until 4th Feb when we're out for a meal.

I discovered last night that Angel Delight is VERY low in points if you fancy a low point pudding.

Snacks and treats I have are:-
ww peanut bar 3pp
milkybar 2pp
any of the ww cakes 2pp
sugar free jelly 0pp
fruit salad and squirty cream (1pp per tablespoon for the cream)

I have in the cupboard but haven't eaten yet
banana's and custard
ambrosia light rice pudding

Have a good day everyone xxx

NoWayNoHow · 24/01/2011 10:10

Is anyone finding that the ProPoints plan doesn't work as well as the old plan?

I have stuck to it religiously, tracked EVERYTHING I've eaten as well as doing kickboxing 3 times a week, and I've lost 2 1/2lbs in 2 weeks!!

Considering that it's the first two weeks and that on the old plan I would have lost the bulk of the excess, I'm really disappointed with this lack of progress, especially since I'm doing it for a holiday in 3 weeks time. I'd been hoping to lose a lot more Sad
