WeightWatchers ProPoints Plan - Our thread is expanding but our waists are not!

Welcome one and all to our 3rd thread Grin

If you're just starting out or you've been following WW for a while and you're looking for support you've come to the right place!

There are lots of regulars who are well on their weigh (get it! Wink) and others who have just joined us - we're a mixed bag, all shapes and sizes and all with different goals to achieve but we're all striving for the same thing. We're all here to will one another on with advice, support and lots of cheering!

Androbbob is our resident stat checker and keeps us motivated by totting up the total weight loss each week. So far this week we have already lost over 37lbs collectively! I believe in total there has been over a 9 stone loss since the thread started!

We're quite fast moving at times so just dive in and make yourself at home Grin

Was there someone on here who said they had some of the WW recipe books? Either some of the ones from WHSmith or from the meetings? Was it you hmc or did I make that up? I'm wondering what the ones from WHSmith are like Grin

I am chuckling at you casting aside the toblerone on your mission for the scales Sparkle love it Grin

Good for you Lucky!

Starvin do what I do & use a belt whilst rocking the baggy look Grin

LuckyLight · 22/01/2011 20:05

starvin have a look for some cheap on ebay? Can often get jeans for a few quid, or Supermarkets like Tesco & Asda & Sainsburys often do very nice jeans for £10, just to tide you over?

StarvingMarvin · 22/01/2011 20:39

I think I will have to do that Lucky, am feeling good about the weight I have lost so far but then look dreadful in baggy jeans, I look even bigger than I did before because they are sagging under my bum!

androbbob · 22/01/2011 20:50

Well done to the three winners - hope you enjoy your litle surprises from Norma!

starvin I too am suffering the baggy jeans look! I am fortunate to have a range of sizes in trousers in my bedroom (under the bed!) from a 18 to a 12 so I will be ok for work trousers as I lose weight! I have had to take an inch off each side of my black work trousers as they are too new to give away and if I can get another month to 6 weeks out of them I will be happy! They were only from Matalan but look good quality. I also have a range of work tops too - I have hoarded them for several many years so it will be like having a new wardrobe for no money! I am sure I will still feel the need to buy something though!

sparkle - I did chuckle too at Scalesgate! I am considering putting mine in the shed for a few weeks to stop me jumping on them so often!

vnmum - glad you are feeling better - take it easy with the food and exercise until you feel back to full strength.

I have had a great day points wise today - for no reason really - and I have 3 points left which is unheard of! I am going to let them go today! Had a light breakfast and lunch, and a home made tart and salad for tea - the defining thing has been no crisps at lunchtime and no snacks this afternoon. A sub conscious decision but a good one I think! I will be at goal by the summer! I am not focusing on the final goal, more the getting my stone and then 10% and then the next stone down bracket, as previously I have planned it all out - 2lb here, 1lb there and I will be at goal by the 27th April...... roll on a month later and I am behind with my losses and then it all falls apart. So this time I am just going with the flow - any loss will do and if it takes 6 months or 9 months or a year then so be it. I have been at this weight I am down to now for the past 10 years off and on (either half a stone more or less) and my lowest ever in that time was 12 stone 4, so getting to and beyond that will be an acheivement.

Enough rambling - its nearly hot choc time!

sweetheart · 22/01/2011 21:43

WOW - I can't believe how busy this thread has been today!

Well done to the 3 winners, a truly deserving bunch if ever I saw one Grin

I did enjoy mt KFC thank you very much and today I have just eaten 2 pieces of ww carrot cake to use up my daily points - I really really feel like I'm cheating this week and I'll be gutted if I don't get 1.5Ibs off on Wednesday. Dh wants me to try out eating a KFC for dinner every night and see if still lose weight.

Lucky - a couple of years ago I got down to my lowest which was 9St 10. Quite a few people told me that I'd gone too far and dh got really cross with me saying I ws totally obsessed. Looing back I can see that I was - I got really aggitated if I didn't exercise every day for example. So long as your in control and feeling happy don't worry about anyone else.

vnmum - glad to hear your feeling a bit better
andro - your goals sound like a positive approach to ww.

I am wearing my "fat" jeans today but they are loose for the first time in AGES!!!!

Willabywallaby · 23/01/2011 07:23

Morning all! So today's the day I need to plan. Going to do a WW recipe coq au vin tonight, but have trawled the site and not sure what to do for the rest of the week. Inspiration would be greatly appreciated.

LeeWT · 23/01/2011 10:09

Morning all! Welcome to newbies and well done to winners (big losers)!

Well I planned ahead yesterday when we went out for lunch I had a plain ham sandwich (oooh so hard done by!!) so I could have a Chinese..

I had nearly a full veggie chow mein, half a portion of chips and 1/2 tub of curry sauce. I've tried to overpoint to be on the safe side so in saying 6+10+4!

Even when I stay within points I find it's a couple of days before the bloating of a take away goes away. But it's the lowest point take away unless anyone else can suggest something else?

Today is Sunday lunch in FIL's which I usually give 20 of my weekly points to on top of dailies as it's impossible to point!

If I lose weight this week then I have to say a diet where you can have Chinese and a Sunday lunch with all the trimmings is the best!

Willabywallaby · 23/01/2011 10:21

I really enjoyed my special chow mein last night, and 2 glasses of wine! Not managing any exercise with DH away, thinking of doing a Davina DVD instead

bigTillyMint · 23/01/2011 10:22

starvin Asda £12 jeans are great - I often get complimented on them Grin

I went to a pizza and wine party yesterday and only had 3 slices of veggie pizza! And only 1 glass of wine over 4 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I did go into my 49 extra points a little, but I'm going to be good today and tomorrow (fingers crossed) as weigh-in tomorrow night.

Lee interesting that you feel bloated after a take-away - I've noticed that too.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 11:37

sparkle lol at finding chocolate on scale hunt

wizzler only little jumps as dh STOLE my 6 spare malteasers!!!

starvin sounds yummy

lucky i did a clear out, problem is some of my14's are very baggy esp round bum, where some of my12's are very tight and have camels hoof Blush so cant wear them

must admit when i lost the weight before i brough cheap jeans from charity shop while losing weight,as didnt want to spend lots and felt good i was helping charity and then returned them a few months later and brought smaller size,so they could re sell and make double the profit :)

androbbob have you tried banana options, totally yummy

sweetheart my friend a few years ago was a larger lady and had 28old ww points and used to have a burger king/kfc every day and still lost 2+lbs a week, till she went down to 22p and then didnt have the spare ones

leewt take away the chips lol - tbh i am not a chip fan, esp chinese chunky chips, but dh loves them so often buy a portion and i never have any - or have something prawn as they are lower in ww pp

bigtilly well done for being good and a little pizza and wine doesnt hurt

im cooking roast gammon for lunch

100g gamon 5pp
100g roast pot 4pp
2 yorkies 2pp
free veg 0pp
gravy made with oxo cube 0pp

total 11pp so within budget for a meal

does that sound right?

mumto2andnomore · 23/01/2011 11:45

Hi everyone, sorry not posted on here for a bit, I do read but tbh find it hard to keep up with everything and who everyone is ! Anyway Ive weighed myself today and have lost another 2lb, since new year Ive lost 10lb so im really pleased ! Love propoints ! Am sticking to my 29 a day, not used my weekly ones at all yet but will if I have a big night out etc.

Im having gammon tonight too !

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 11:51

i flit on and off on my iphone so pop in daily Grin

well done mumto2 on fab weight loss

how are you having your gammon?

Littlefish · 23/01/2011 13:02

Congrats to our prize winners! Well done ladies.

There've been some fabulous weight losses this week. We're all doing so well!

Re. Jeans. - I bought some new ones last week from New Look (larger size dept). However, they are 2 sizes smaller than the ones I bought from there in October, so I was delighted Grin. They were only £15.00, which I thought was good.

My MIL has just been over, looked at me with her head on one side, and asked me if I'd lost weight Grin. She said that she hadn't noticed because I always wear big, baggy cardigans. I suppose she's right - I was feeling disheartened because no-one had noticed, but I was still wearing all the same clothes. I've started wearing some of my "thinner" clothes, from the box in the attic Wink, and people are starting to notice.

I'm meeting friends for fish and chips next weekend - can anyone suggest a sensible meal for me? I could have chicken tikka meat with salad and just a few chips - how many points do you reckon that would be? Any other suggestions?

collision · 23/01/2011 13:09

I have just had the BIGGEST lunch which was delicious and should keep me full til later. Even DH was eyeing it up!

It was just a chorizo salad but had free veg including mini gherkins (free) and the only thing I had to count was the chorizo (2pp for 30g) and the Lite Caesar Salad dressing (1pp for 2tbsp but I only had 1tbsp) so 3 PP for a massive lunch!

BFast was 30g Golden Nuggets - 3PP
Skim Milk 2PP
Lunch was 3PP

Am stuffed!

Well done on everyone's weightloss.

NormaSknockers · 23/01/2011 14:43

Afternoon all,

Just crawling in to say hello! Got a horrid sinus infection and my IBS is playing havoc with me today so not feeling too chirpy, oh the joys :)

I shall catch up later when I'm huddled in bed with the laptop and DOI Grin

OP posts:
sweetheart · 23/01/2011 15:08

Just popping in to see how everyone is doing. My weekend is going well so far - we're having roast chicken tonight.
Blondes - i think I worked out york puds to 2pp each

Mil is coming for dinner and she'll want wine - haven't had any since new year and was going to try not to have any until we go out on the 4th Feb so will see if m willpower can hold out!

Littlefish · 23/01/2011 15:32

Sweetheart - stay strong agains the demon wine! Just think of all those points you could be eating, instead of drinking Wink.

We're having roast chicken as well, with roast potatoes, roast parsnips, cabbage, carrots, cauliflour and leeks in cheese sauce and gravy. Deeeeeeeeeelicious!

I've eaten very few points so far today, but eating low point soup, fruit and salad so that I can have a fabulous meal tonight! I know it's not the sensible way to do it, but it's only once a week. Smile

Littlefish · 23/01/2011 15:34

Norma - so sorry to hear about your IBS. I suffer from time to time as well. The best thing I've ever found to alleviate it is aloe vera gel. I used to take it every day and it really, really helped.

Re. sinuses - the only think I found really worked was a combination of sudafed and steaming my head.

I hope you feel better soon.

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 15:48

littlefish def wear smaller clothes - baggy ones make you look bigger

norma sorry to hear you suffer from ibs :(

sweetheart I used calculator and said each one was 1pp

collision salad sounds yummy and def a low PP meal

Just made a delicious fruit salad for pudding - chopped banana/raspberries and grapes for o pp

While dh scoffed 3/4 of a vienetta Envy

froot · 23/01/2011 17:12

Someone asked about wine substitute- I have gin n tonic now instead usually as miles less points but was at a dinner party yesterday and had far too much wine but didn't want to be awkward and I knew they would not have slimline tonic . Last year when I looked overweight I used to carry around a couPle of mini cans of diet tonic because even some restaurants don't keep it . Now I look ok but I want to lOse another 8 lb but I am embarrased to ask as I feel I will look a bit silly as as not obviously overweight iykwim .

Anyway forced myself to do shred level 2 ( much better with 2 lb weights! ) despite my hangover ....then went out to lunch to a friends house and similar scenario particularly as said friend a good 3 St overweight !! And very calorific lunch ....... And totm so ate everything in sight .But will just have fruit tonight and keep my fingers crossed for 1 lb off at WI tomorrow .

Well done to the contest winners !

froot · 23/01/2011 17:13

Oh yes I think new look jeans are fab too !

LuckyLight · 23/01/2011 18:31

bigtillymint I have some asda skinny jeans, they were £12, I get lots of comments on them too.

LOL blondes at your 'camel hoof' Blush

sweetheart interseting what you said. I do feel in control, well, I did but tbh, I think some negative comments from RL people have made me doubt myself as whether I am actually in control. I do enjoy exercising, and I have started doing more again. I think it's just cos I'm finding it harder to lose the last few lbs, so I'm upping my game a bit. I tried on more clothes today and they were very big on me. Even size 12's. I still think I'm OK, but I'm worried that I'm not seeing it, IYSWIM?
I'm def in size 10 clothes, not 8, and I genuinely wouldn't want to be.

More later, night garden beckons...

benbenandme · 23/01/2011 18:32

A quick word of warning for anyone who buys M&S Count On us food ... yesterday I bought the 2 x yorkshires filled with roast beef and gravy. On the pack it has nutritional info on the front saying "Per 1/2 pack ... fat, salt etc" and on the back it clearly says "6 propoints PER PACK". Anyway, having eaten one I was playing around with the WW calculator and double checked it and they are actually 12 propoints per pack or 6 propoints per half pack Angry

I emailed M&S who have replied saying they will let the food department know about the mistake ... not much use to me yesterday though, it was fruit for tea Hmm

AnyoneForPimms · 23/01/2011 18:34

That was me asking for wine substitutes.
I love to relax with a glass of wine after a busy day. I have gin so I'll buy some slimline tonic. Thanks

wizzler · 23/01/2011 18:36

Norma hope you feel better soon.
Blondes, good tip re the charity shop jeans. I am stalling buying any new clothes until I reach a weight I am happy with, but that sounds a sensible way forward
Littlefish, how many points do you reckon for cauli in cheese sauce ? ( 1 portion)

Had a good day today. Lunch at my parents, where I stayed in points by avoiding the mash pots, and reducing intake of roast ones!. Played tennis all afternoon. I really enjoy it and wouldn't have made the effort if I hadnt been doing WW.
