Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

You become a real runner when you stop worryinh about whether or not people can see you Grin

I was like you when I first started twenty six a few years ago Wink - only went out in the dark.

Since then, I have run 3 marathons (London twice) and multiple 10Ks and 1/2 Marathons. Last one was about 4 years ago though which was when I knackered (again) my achilles tendon, possibly iredeemably, although I'm going to have one more go, this time using sorbothane insoles.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/01/2011 15:33

Ah.... I suspect I may never be a real runner then!!
Although Race for Life will be in the day. I shall have to wear a disguise Grin

bebejones · 28/01/2011 15:44

Was SO bad at lunch! But had the nicest time with DD. She was just adorable & I was so proud of her. Such a good girl, and she ate LOADS!! I had a ham & 3 cheese Panini, some Kettle chips, a hot chocolate (but didn't have cream or marshmallows) and shared a cupcake with DD. Having soup for dinner as feeling a bit full & guilty! Blush

Blondes - I agree it would be interesting to see what you're eating works out as cals wise. I am the same as Piste, I aim for between 1000 & 1300. But seeing as I am not exercising that much it's fairly easy for me as I often don't feel hungry!

Piste - I would also be running in the dark/in disguise. Plus would need about 10 sports bras & some kind of tummy bra to feel 'secure'! Blush

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/01/2011 15:57

< snort > tummy bra!!

My lovely friend says she needs gaffer tape wrapped round her to enable her to go jogging!

bebejones · 28/01/2011 16:00

I used to do my exercise DVD (which I still cannot find, God knows where DD has put it Hmm) wearing my 'Bridget Jones' tummy sucky in pants... to help restrict the wobble! Blush

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/01/2011 16:14

go runners!!!!

i will try and do calories for you both

prettybird · 28/01/2011 16:36

Does anyone remember the "face bra" that Elaine invented in Ally McBeal??! GrinHmm

OP posts:
RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/01/2011 17:04

Blondes, I think that would be useful. You say about eating fruit? Not sure how much a day but if you are aiming for 1000-1300 ish, snacking on fruit could be adding on lots of cals. But you did sts so not a disaster at all.

I never saw Ally McBeal sorry. I think I need an arse bra though whilst we are on the subject of bras!!

bebejones · 28/01/2011 17:19

I remember the face bra! here Hilarious!

Fruit adds lots of cals, especially bananas! Although they are quite filling. Chop it up to make it alst longer! (That's what I do! :o) Melon is quite low in cals I think, full of water! Grapefruit also very low in cals! So quite good for brekkie, if I have some I have a half then have a lf yoghurt or a cereal bar.

smokinaces · 28/01/2011 19:02

I'm sick Sad come down with some cold/flu/tonsilitus thing. am sitting here with scarf and snuggie on and still freezing. barely any sleep last night as DS2 ill too. Taken garlic, echinacea, multivits, aspirin, and paracetemol as well as throat sweets but my tonsils are full of pus. trying to avoid antibs, but will see how I am in the morning.

Managed porridge this morning, soup for lunch and a quorn lasagne for dinner. am so tired though, no chance of exercise this weekend. and meant to be at a party tomorrow night Sad

well done all of you on the losses and sts - not as single pound gain round the group this week.and inches mean as much as weight!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 28/01/2011 19:25

Smokin - you poor things.
Have you tried gargling with dissolvable disprin only that can hit the spot?

Antibiotics don't always speed up recovery, but do see how you go, don't rule out going - drink lots, and just take it easy.

I have run and am now feeling in a happy haze. Just about to get my pjs on. DS is heading for an early night, in the shower and on his way to read in bed for an hour or less. DD still at school, there's a production thing tonight ( she doesn't do drama but her mates do ) and she's gone to be an appreciative audience.

Plus a lie in tomorrow, yaaaay. Now that DD has decided to concentrate on rowing, she has had to stop swimming club. This was a big decision, because she's been doing it since she was 6 and the whole club thing has been a big part of her life, but she is doing well at rowing, and with training 4/5 times a week there is no time for anything else! The up side of this is, we don't have to take her to swimming club at 6.30 am on a Saturday!!!

Wooooooohooooooooo!

Blondeshavemorefun · 28/01/2011 20:13

aww smokin ((hugs)) sorry you are feeling crap :(

but yes you are correct none of us gained this week :)

how do i work out the cals of everything then piste and bebe?

prettybird · 28/01/2011 20:23

SOrry to hear you're suffering Smokin - hope you recover soon.

I've copied and pasted the latest list across to the new thread as I am sure that we will have filled up this thread by the time of the next weight-in.

Blondes: if you use FoodFocus, you can get the calories for most things.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/01/2011 12:48

well done smalline :)

i got given a free goody bag at my gym today :)

Imperial body wash, foot spray, dove body lotion, Bach rescue cream, herb drops, evening primrose, smiling gel party feet, chewing gum, 2 cereal bars, olay foundation& lenor conditioner

smokinaces · 29/01/2011 13:36

wow blondes, impressive freebies!

I am feeling better ish. lots of bribary of the kids with DVDs and biscuits meant I could stay in bed this morning dosed up on co-codamol. Think the tonsil are going down which is good. Have a streaming nose now though.

DS2 has taken himself off to (my) bed and tucked himself in bless him, falling asleep which is unheard off. I am sucking on ice lollies and sulking, cant see me losing any weight this week as I havent been able to exercise with Oftsed and then illness, and my body will be fighting infection as opposed to losing weight.
