Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

[bshock] I've just seen how many calories a haggis has [bshock]! And there I was, thinking I'd been really good yesterday [bhmm]

Still, the neeps have practically no calories and I didn't have any of the mashed potatoes, so if I hadn't had the couple of glasses of wine [bblush] I'd have been under my calorie target for the day.

Easy tomato soup tonight, so should be a healthy day :)

Got sushi for lunch 365 cals. Am enjoying looking forward to having it later! I need to get out more.

Running later under the cover of darkness!!

GettinTrimmer · 26/01/2011 13:08

How far are you going now piste?

bebejones · 26/01/2011 13:09

So far I have had
B - OJ - small glass - 66cals
Snack (at toddlers) 1/2 a Sticky toffee muffin, goodness knows how many calories Blush
L - 2 sesame ryvitas, low fat philly, & a smearing of chilli relish - 123cals
So before the muffin that's 189cals

Dinner will be celery soup - 35cals & small h/m roll - approx 81cals

So that's 305cals, so shall have some yoghurt too & an apple and some grapes coz that is well well under my target! Although don't know how many were in the muffin! Hmm

prettybird · 26/01/2011 13:23

Those brownnies and cupcakes sound lovely Bebe. Not sure I would able to resist......

Ds asked made me make double choc chip cookies last week which were such a success that he then asked made me make "ordinary" choc chip cookies at the weekend. Got the recipes off Mumsnet and they were wonderfully horribly easy to make so I will no doubt wanting forced to make some more very soon Grin

Just had some cottage cheese, walnuts and blue berries for lunch, together with a couple of slices of ham to keep my protein levels up. According to Foodfocus, that came to 287 calories. So far have had 830 calories today but have also done the Shred (back on to Level 2). However, I'm currently trying to resist and attack of the munchies. Am going to try to assuage it with a cup of rooibos - have already tried a glass of diet ginger beer but am still tempted...

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2011 13:26

Bebe - that doesn't sound many calories for a day? You could end up only on 600 ish? Or have I got that wrong?

GT - the GPS on my C25K app said I went 2.2 miles last time. I'm on Week 4. So I run for 3 mins, walk a little, Run 5 mins, walk a little then repeat the 3 & the 5 min runs. The programme on the app is definitely working and I actually enjoy it. There is a big jump coming because by a week on Friday I will be going for 20 mins no walking. Gulp!! Are you back into your running? Do you listen to music?

laughalot · 26/01/2011 13:29

Prettybird my bro lives right near the peoples palace glasgow green he got married there actually. Whre do you visit in South Africa I used to live there.

smokinaces · 26/01/2011 13:55

ITS OVER!!!! For me at least Grin Had a horribly scary interview with him where he was second guessing my work, but I think I managed to pull it out the bag. Boss ringing me tonight to give some feedback after first day. Am back tomorrow as a parent (SN son using their sensory room) but we will know whether we are good/satisfactory etc in the next 24 hours I think. Glad its only once every 5 years!

Have indulged in an Options hot chocolate. And drunk a lot - was so busy yesterday only managed 3 cups of tea and glass of wine all day which is not good for fat/calorie burning. Will watch USA Biggest Loser tonight whilst working out. Can see me stagnating this week after all the stress etc, but I should be proud of not putting on (if I dont!!)

Am hoping for a cross trainer off a friend too, to break up the step machine/exercise bike. Wish I could go running, but many reasons why I cant!

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2011 14:01

trimmer sorry you had a bad day yesterday, hopefully today will be better :)

bebe yes usa same formatt (as its the orginal) but they are tougher on there!!! what rude mummies - but RESIST!!!! them bebe

but dont stave yourself, that doesnt sound much food today, or you will snack on bad stuff :(

my parsnip soup was yummy, def going to make some more - made a chnage from tomoart soup/veggie soup tbh but worth the pointage

pretty why is haggis bad? its swede and turnip (free) and potato - or is it drizzled in cheese lol

piste blondes loves sushi - M&S do a nice snack pack

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2011 14:02

smokin glad inspection went well :)

ive been an angel today - went to coffee am and ignored the biscuits/cakes etc and ate my banan and grapes i brought from home

bebejones · 26/01/2011 14:06

Up up to about 700+cals now. Had 3/4 apple, half a brownie Blush a teaspoon of peanut butter & a lf yoghurt! :o My FF target is 1301

Well done Smokin on getting through it!

Wish my hip would get better so I could walk a bit more, but it's still quite painful! Everytime I roll on it in the night it wakes me up! Pretty how's your doing? It was you with the same problem wasn't it? My knee is ^still purpley brown as well! Falling apart & I'm only 28!!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2011 16:16

angel you say......? Hmm

prettybird · 26/01/2011 16:52

I think haggis is high 'cos of the amount of fat in it - it's got the offal and the oatmeal which is healthy - but then the fat to keep it moist Hmm

Laugalot - I was born in Pietersburg and when we visit, we see my aunt in Haentertsburg (near Tzaneen) and usually fit in a trip to the Kruger and then go the Cape and see our friends in the wine industry (or vice versa). Used to go to Durban as well but find we can no longer fit that in.

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2011 18:17

Because you lot chat so much we will need a new thread before we fall off the edge of the MN planet. Pretty has made a good suggestion below.....
Any other ideas???!!

"2011 Weight Loss Club: Spring Slinkies successfully sizing down"?

prettybird · 26/01/2011 18:33

Bebe - forgot to add that my hip is still sore, so the anti-inflammatories haven't worked :( - akthough at least I am no longer waking up at night with it

It's more of a niggle though than the major pain you seem to be suffering: with hindsight I've had it for at least a year, but I just thoguh that I kept on getting a mild groin strain and/or it was the perils of getting old.

I still haven't got round to contacting the physios though Blush (Christmas got in the way) - the GP said that ultrasound might help.

OP posts:
bebejones · 26/01/2011 18:39

Pretty, do you get pain round the front of your pelvis/groin with it too? Coz my pelvis is really sore & my GP said it was unrelated! Hmm I will ring GP again next week to follow up & find out what to do next. I think he said they might want to scan it! Confused

Piste - That title seems good to me!

smokinaces · 26/01/2011 18:57

did anyone watch US Biggest Loser last night? Am just catching up, and my god, I hate the red team. I was actually shouting at the TV in the immunity challenge.

and even better news - ofsted reckon midway feedback is between satisfactory and good, and singled me out for a good mention Grin

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2011 19:58

Smokin biggest loser thread

Also talk of odd cock ring but that's chippin's fault Grin

Fab ofsted loves you :)

Bebe - sorry hip still hurts :(

I'm happy with prettys title - I'm crap at naming threads

GettinTrimmer · 26/01/2011 20:04

you lot chat so much piste?! Grin

smokin - glad ofsted went ok for you, nerve wracking.

bebe - hope gp is helpful x

RatherBeOnThePiste · 26/01/2011 20:47

Well done Smokin!!

Am being really bad tonight instead of having a meal I am having a bag of cheesy wotsits. I ended up running much later than I like to and now it's too late - cheesy wotsits it is then! 200cals as it's s grab bag. I had a banana this afternoon.

Things I have learnt about myself and running:-

1)That it is best to go for a last minute wee before setting off.

2)That whilst the rest of me gets very hot, my hands remain ice cubes.

3)That I run better when it's dark because no one can see me.

4)My face goes very red. I like to call this shade "magenta"

  1. It is best to look before crossing the road or one may have a Row with a Tesco van.

  2. My nose always gets snotty as soon as I get any pace up.

  3. That I am not designed ever to run in a stylish manner.

  4. That i do not dislike running like I used to at school.

  5. That I am happy to the point of smugness when I have run because I have the day off tomorrow.

Blondeshavemorefun · 26/01/2011 21:26

Lol piste - one can pee behind a bush and be mooed at like I was

Wear gloves

Tesco van? Be careful

10 you are doing fab :)

Tho a bag of wosits isn't enough

prettybird · 26/01/2011 21:46

Bebe - it's not so much in my pelvis as more of an ache in the crease where my leg joins to my body IYSWIM which I feel sometimes when I'm walking, espacially as my left leg comes forward. Where the knicker elastic is for the holes for your legs.

I can still do all my Pialtes exercises and the Shred - there's only been one exercise (large leg circles on your back, with one leg stragiht up in the air and sweeping round in big circles) that my instructor thought would be a problem and I agreed - so I just did much smaller circles.

Tomato and mint soup was lovely - although not as low calorie as it might have been due to the 85ml of sherry in it Hmm

OP posts:
prettybird · 26/01/2011 21:53

Have started a new thread over here in preparation - although we still have a bit of chat to go on here :)

OP posts:
Smalline · 26/01/2011 22:08

Great news Smokin well done!

Stocked up on parsnips, celery & butternut squash today, had bns tonight, somehow it wasn't as nice as it usually is, don't know why that wasConfused, kids refused to eat it, I threatened to give them celery soup tomorrowGrin.

The new thread name suggested sounds good to me.

Blondeshavemorefun · 27/01/2011 09:33
