Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

LMAO You lot are mental!! :o

I can honestly say I would fail the penicl test! :( Thank you DD!! Hmm Also having lost 4+ stone they are now quite wrinkly! I'm 28 & my boobs look 88!!

I have my first official cake to make!! A wedding cake!!! Shock Eeeeeek! Mega mega excited & very scared!

RatherBeOnThePiste · 23/01/2011 22:05

((Sobs))

But, Lol Blondes, I certainly do have Perky Pistes, and often Piste is Perky Wink but alas no perky bazoomers. [wails] They're not even very big.
[wails again to get maximum sympathy vote]

Blondeshavemorefun · 23/01/2011 22:24

Aww piste :( sure your pistes are fantastic

Bebe. That's amazing - about Yr cake not boobs - don't forget to put an ad on netmums about Yr cakes - free of charge

Also read other ads as sometimes they say looking fir someone to bake a cake for kids party etc

Murtette · 24/01/2011 08:33

Bah! Sts this week BUT I can do my belt up on the second notch and last week it was an effort to do it up on the first notch. The notches are 2cm apart (I know - I just measured it!). How can I sts but be 2cm thinner around my waist? Bodies are weird things!

I'm sure someone else weighs in this morning but can't remember who. Good luck to you!

Blondes - I'm a complete technophobe so no snazzy phone for me. Each time I think of buying something I get confused by all of the options and there always seem to be a new and improved one just about to come out.

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2011 10:34

bebe is the wedding cake some sponge in some layers/traditional? That's what ours was.

I would only do the pencil test in my bra, then I'd pass Smile they are brilliant inventions.

piste I am Envy everyone who has big ones wants small ones

murtette well done on sts, good feeling with your belt.

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2011 10:39

blondes I didn't think of fully skimmed milk - I find semi skimmed more filling but then again 2 points are 2 jaffa cakes!

today:

Boiled egg and toast soldiers (5pp)
1/2 pint s/skimmed milk (4)
planning for lunch:
Covent Garden Tomato soup (2)
4 ryvitas (4)
Quorn slices (2)
tablsp of picalilli (1)
free salad

That leaves me with 11 for tea.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 11:01

Aww murtette :( but means you are losing inches :)

Did you measure ?

I love my iPhone 'strokes lovingly'

laughalot · 24/01/2011 11:12

Morning everyone !! Well done on the people who have lost and to the ones who have gained or sts keep going.

Had a busy week last week worked 4 days usually only do 2 days so was a busy bee. Iv just had some soup for lunch and I think it will be shepards pie for dinner with lots of veg.

bebejones · 24/01/2011 12:00

Trimmer - She (the bride) wants an iced sponge cake for cutting & then 30-40 iced cupcakes. Sort of like this Which should be fairly straightforward, I just need to buy all the 'kit'!

Frantically trying to work out costings for her. I want the job, but don't want to do it for no profit IYSWIM? But I have to factor in the stuff I need to buy. For a 6" iced cake & 40 matching cupcakes, which I will go & set up on my own stand on the day, I'm thinking of charging her £165. You don't think that's too much do you? I have tried to be really reasonable coz I want the job (need the experience) and also she is a school friend of DHs!

Murtette - Bummer you STS but losing inches is really good too!

Had a glass of OJ, a banana & cereal bar for brekkie
Plain rice cake mid morning
Will have soup, yoghurt & fruit for lunch
Cheat Carbonara or jacket potato for dinner (depends what DH decides)

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2011 12:45

Bear in mind Bebe, what you are doing is very labour intensive so it sounds reasonable to me. My niece had cupcakes at her wedding, sounds like the done thing these days?

I don't know what the going rate is for cakes, maybe someone who's had one made can comment. Is it worth ringing up a cake shop and pretending you want a cake made and asking for a quote so you can compare?

You sound in the zone laughalot.

Just had an estate agent looking around, waiting for another one to arrive. Feeling a bit cold feety now it comes to it, but it's time to move.

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2011 12:47

So your kit is to make the roses, etc?

bebejones · 24/01/2011 13:06

Yes, I need a new tin & also some special stamp/cutters modelling equipment.

I know how much our wedding cake cost (3 years ago) and it was alot more than what I'm thinking of charging her. (Wasn't cupcakes was a tiered chocolate cake with a carrot cake top tier) The one in the link (with all the cupcakes) is from a London company & is over £700! Shock But I'm guessing that's London prices!! Dh said about factoring in Labour costs, and I would make some money (ie for me) at that price. Just don't want to price it too high in case she says no! Blush Really need the experience which is priceless at this stage.

Fingers crossed the estate agents give you a good valuation & aren't too sharkish! Wink It's always a big deal moving, but if you feel it is time then you should do it!

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 14:42

Bebe - sounds very reasonable - our wedding cake was £375 and that was 4yrs ago

You need to make some money buy also getting experience and ref is essential

Trimmer - sounds a good menu and yes 2pp = 2 Jaffa cakes /4 mmm/ 8 malteasers

Laughalot - sounds busy working double your normal days

I had

Cheerios 4 and skim 1

Sm jacket 5 (rang my friend up and demanded asked if she would weigh my potato) she did bless her - mine looked tidily compared to hers :(

Tuna 2 flora light 1 Mayo light 2 salad 0

Banana kiwi

Leaving 14 fir tea and crisps

bebejones · 24/01/2011 15:01

Just connected up the new bluray player, very fancy! DD is happily sat watching the Gruffalo....again!

Blondes - That sounds about average price from my research. You can see a pic of my wedding cake at the bottom of my photos page. It looked far more impressive in RL life. And we had loads left over which mostly got binned! :( DH doesn't know how much it cost, which is probably a good thing! Wink Was so scrummy though, was working my way through the leftovers but a week after the wedding there was still loads & my morning sickness kicked in...rubbish!!

Am actually going to have soup for dinner had some low fat philly & ryvita, and an apple for lunch. DH wants baked beans on a jacket potato & I just don't fancy that. Am going to have some hm spicy BNS, Carrot & Lentil soup with a hm small wholemeal roll.

Feeling virtuous & in the zone today. Everytime I feel 'peckish' I have a glass of water! :o

Smalline · 24/01/2011 15:11

Hello Ladies I've been so busy, have not had time to catch up!

I deserve a kick up the jacksey this week, as I have put on 3lbsSad. Last week my lovely SIL gave my DD a belated birthday present, a mini chocolate fountain, 350grm bar of chocolate and some marshmallows, of course we had to try it out, but instructions indicated that minimum amount of chocolate to use in the machine was 500grmsShock, anyway not to disappoint DD I melted half of the chocolate bar in the microwave we then ate marshmallows & pineapple dipped in melted chocolateBlush. The other half of the chocolate was used the following evening to make chocolate rice krispie cakes with peanut butter and marshmallows, they were deliciousBlushBlushBlush, annoying thing was my DD didn't like them so me and DS polished them offBlush.

Well done on all your losses ladies, you are all doing so wellGrin.

Your cakes are so lovely bebe you have a great talent, if I lived near you I would pay you to show me how to make themSmile.

Woofa had a little set back this morning, took him to the vets for them to check his wound, he was so excited to be out poor thing next thing I knew blood was dripping from his wound onto the floor of the vets, have to keep him quiet for the next 10 days.Sad.

Murtette inch loss is goodSmile

GettinTrimmer · 24/01/2011 15:50

Blondes, I forgot to mention, thanks for that calculator link Smile

smalline that would have been impossible to resist! We found some Thorntons dipping chocolate a while back, that was difficult let alone a chocolate fountain.

I make chocolate rice krispy cakes with dd and her friends.

Blondes is good with damage limitation advice, I went overboard on friday and saturday - Ryvitas are good, veggie soups and chicken/quorn slices.

I've just had an estate agent round, he was just like David Cameron. Main agents round here, lots of sold signs up.

Murtette · 24/01/2011 17:25

Bebe - your costings sound very reasonable to me. Have you remembered to factor in things like petrol if you're going to have to go and set up the cakes?

Having an OK day so far. Oatso & skimmed for breakfast, celery soup and granary roll for lunch, planning on courgette risotto for supper. Been snacking on fruit all day.

Hmm...better go and rescue DD who is now in the saucepan cupboard. All of the saucepans are out of the cupboard and spread across the floor.

Murtette · 24/01/2011 17:33

OK - DD rescued.

Smalline - poor dog. Was the vet otherwise pleased with his progress?

Gettin - are you planning on moving or were you just seeing what you could get if you decided to move?

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 17:35

Smalline :( poor woofa - sounds like when our woofa at work hurt his paw - claret everywhere - kitchen looked like a bloodbath had happened

Now the 3lb gain Shock sure the chocolate wasn't all to blame so think back to whatelse you have eaten

Rivitta and low or o point soup to try and recoup the gain

Trimmer - glad calculator handy :)

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 17:59

Murtette - saucepans are great toys :)

Newsboy?? Bloody iPhones spellcheck - meant to say breakie :)

'removes all scales'

Bluebump - sorry you sts but well done for not gaining :)

Welcome fururoty - hope your 8 lbs come off soon

Noway - see easily done - the odd nibble here an there = 1/2 Yr daily PP or nearly 2days worth of bonus PP

Dh has just made a sandwich and it is more than my daily PP

'blondes faints'

2 thick bread 6pp
6 rashers of bacon 12pp
3 slices of wrapped full fat cheese 6pp
1/2 Chicken breast sliced 2pp
Thickly spread with butter 4pp
Ketchup 1pp

That's a whopping 31pp

And looks and smells soooo good

'blondes dribbles!!!'

If I had one mouthful what do you think it would cost me in PP .........

Smalline · 24/01/2011 18:42

Yes Murtette vet was otherwise pleased with his progress, so that is something I suppose.

Meant to say bebe don't worry too much about your little blip last week, you seem to be back on track to lose it this weekSmile.

It wasn't just a little bit of chocolate blondes it was loads, have only got myself to blameBlush.
I'm going to try really hard, I like ryvitas, I usually use them for sandwiches instead of bread, will have to stock up again.

I checked on food focus, if I can lose just 1lb a week, I can reach my target of under 11 stone for my 50th birthday in JulySmile.

Blondeshavemorefun · 24/01/2011 19:44

Smalline - that's more like it - positive thinking

Chocolate is over rated :)

Trimmer - where are you moving to?

smokinaces · 24/01/2011 20:44

just popping in to say brain fried, and snuck 3 mini rocky roads at work (1.8g fat, 43 calories each, could be worse I suppose) but managed a 3lb weight loss last week. Down to 12st now, just 26lb to go to target, done 11lb in 3 weeks. Am mega chuffed, but cant see the list and need sleep so can someone update for me please?

catch you all later in the week!!
