Here is the new thread for us to achieve success in Xmas Smile

Old thread is here

I'll change my name to my "Christmas" one after Saturday: I'm helping to organise the Scottish Mumsnet Christmas meet-up and it might confuse things if I change my name.

Afternoon slinkies! Xmas Grin

Have just made some scrummy new soup, Spicy Carrot & Lentil! Very yummy! Having hm chicken curry for dinner, and had a small bowl of golden grahams with s-skimmed for breakfast. Also had Xmas Blush a mince pie!! Shhhhhhhh!! Xmas Wink

Had an accident on the road outside our house this morning. Heard a loud bang & thought someone had hit my car. We are right before a blind bend & a car had skidded on the ice and gone into another car pushing it into the wall of the house on the corner! Shock People drive too fast round there, just surprised it doesn't happen more often! Car that got pushed is in a right state, and just being towed away now. Thankfully no one was hurt, DD was very excited by all the police cars & flashing lights!

Going to cut DHs hair & then we are putting the tree up!! Eeeek, much excitement!

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/12/2010 16:16

bebe - least wasnt your car

trimmer - glad advice helped

have a few exercises of moving up and down etc but tbh its still weak :(

had roast dinner of pork, pots and veg and yorkies - not going to point it

will start back tomorrow being good as been hard to point bad food

prettybirdinapeartree · 05/12/2010 18:16

First post with my "Christmas" name Xmas Smile

The Scottish Mumsnet meet-up was very good - and I was very restrained Xmas Smile Only had 4 glasses of bubbly: two on the train on the way over from Glasgow (shared with two other Mumsentters) Xmas Shock and two with the meal. Very impressed with my restraint Xmas Grin.

prettybirdinapeartree · 06/12/2010 10:59

Did a sneaky weigh-in this morning and only seem to have put on one pound (after the Shred of course! Xmas Wink) - so with any luck I should be back on course by Friday Xmas Smile

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/12/2010 11:40

well done pretty

i had the hell journey to work, works country lane is like an ice rink aka death trap - had to abandon my car and walk the last 1/2,mile and had no sodding phone signal (as work in the middle of nowhere) to ring mb to say i was going to be late

will try and be good all week, but this snow lark makes it hard :(

bebeinamanger · 06/12/2010 12:06

Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr :(

Took DH to work & then went shopping with DD. Was -6 when I was scraping the car at 7.30am, just got back home & it's still -4.5! Freezing fog so bad you can barely see 100yrds! Not fun, especially on the M5!!

Am going back on the soups this week. I need a couple of good weeks before Christmas. Have been very picky & grazing alot! Xmas Blush

Blondes - that doesn't sound too good! Go careful on your poorly foot!

Pretty - well done! That'll be some water weight, should come off again by Friday! :)

Murtette · 06/12/2010 13:37

Morning!

1lb on for me - rather than doing the WW fast track, I seem to have scoffed chocolate and mince pies since Saturday using the excuse of looming AF!

Pretty - well done on having lost a stone in total. Seeing your weight has given me a kick up the backside as I've hardly lost anything since you joined.

Piste - you've only got half a stone to go! Well done, you. Have you got some fab clothes to wear this Xmas?

Blondes - I can't believe how much snow you've had. We've had a scattering and that was it. So good of you to help out your neighbours.

Bebe - how is your hip? Can you call each day and see if there are any cancellations?

Still all go here as we've had our offer on a house accepted so now need to sort out solicitors, mortgage etc. I picked up my ring at the end of last week which is lovely and sparkly.

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 06/12/2010 15:13

Morning All!

Isn't it bollockingly freezing?

Took this photo of me in the garden this morning!

Made it to the O2 with my gaggle of teens and DS, concert was fab, lots of different bands etc, loved the Black Eyed Peas, Script etc.. Jolly jolly. DH made it home from Sydney in time to see DD have her moment on stage so all is well.

Except it is bollockingly freezing.

I need one of these Xmas Biscuit and a cup of tea.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/12/2010 15:31

fab pic

ive got to go to school but having a very bad day - you need to be on fb lol - will explain when im back

pic of works country death trap lane

bebeinamanger · 06/12/2010 15:33

Murtette - congrats on the house sale & picking up your ring! How exciting! 1lb isn't much, don't beat yourself up too much!

Piste - It is SO cold! Our heating is on full whack & I can barely feel my fingers as I type! Fog hasn't lifted all day, so temp outside is probably falling again Xmas Confused Glad you made it to the O2 sounds like a good time was had by all Xmas Smile

Been a very good girl today, hope I can last all week Xmas Hmm

B - OJ & lf Yoghurt
L - Chicken Noodle Soup & piece of dry toast
Snack - Sharing an apple with DD
D - Leek & Potato soup with a small hm bread roll & maybe a small sprinkle of cheese.
Might have another lf yoghurt if I have the munchies or a rice cake!

bebeinamanger · 06/12/2010 15:34

Eeeek Blondes...that's not a road, it's an ice rink!!

GettinTrimmer · 06/12/2010 16:21

blondes Shock that is scary.

piste Grin Have you got your new vests yet? Glad you had a good night at O2.

pretty just wondering, when would you need to book for a flight in March?

Slinkies, do you think we should work towards a meet up date soon?

murtette sorry about the 1lb gain, you and me both. Hope house goes OK, you ring sounds lovely.

Dh is still trying to sell my late FIL's house Sad atm there is a fuss about whether the road is local authority maintained, which is daft of course it is, paperwork just needs to be sorted.

bebe you and me on the soups, I have seen a recipe on mn for a curried butternut squash one. That ice scraping is grim.

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 06/12/2010 17:10

Blimeeee Blondes. I have a four wheel drive thingy but that would make me go Xmas Shock

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/12/2010 17:19

we need to see the ring :)

i have been good today but only as havnt had a chnace to eat as so manic

got stuck going to work and abandoned car and walked last 1/2mile and then got to work and imedd turned round again to take kids to school (work car is better than mine, but still not fab in snow)

school run is normally 45mins in am, took nearly 2hrs as roadworks (not snowe related lol)

back to work about 10, sky man came as snow dislodged dish, but sky man wont go up roof in snow, so have no tv/sky - all runs off sky so not even 1,2,3,4 - only dvds

took works car to garage, as damaged by snow, all fixed now :), got home for lunch and woofa came in from garden gushing claret everywhere from his paw, so got emergancy appointment at the vet (rem im a nanny not a doggie lover lol),hauled 2 kids there in slippery conditions and after 45mins later, woofa has paw bandaged and has cone of shame (lampshade) to stop him licking/pulling bandage off

to say he is pissed off is an under statement lol

poor woofa

i sooooooooooooooo need wine

had beans on toast for lunch as no time for anything else

dh is making pork casserole for tea

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 06/12/2010 17:54

I rest my case that nannies are actually superheroes! The nanny we had when DD was small certainly was, and you certainly are too!!

Poor Woofa... Give him a kiss on the nose from me. They always look so woebegone in those things. Sad

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/12/2010 20:46

Kiss given to woofa

To top things off - my car then got stuck in the snow and had to ring boss's to rescue me

Finally home - bless my darling mb who pushed me out - yes db stayed with the asleep kids????

Arrived home to a hot bubbly bath&a glass of wine and pork casserole - love you mr blondes , you know how to make me feel better xxx

GettinTrimmer · 07/12/2010 09:29

Blondes mb and db must appreciate you so much, how are you faring today?

Is the thaw happening in Kent?

Shock seeing on the news children having to sleep at school overnight.

poor ol woofa Sad

I managed to walk straight past the mince pies yesterday in ASDA but both dh and I got the munchies last night, I had a bowl of soup (not too bad) and cannot get motivated to do any exercise.

Need a dose of determination.

Seeing Harry Potter tomorrow night, I've had mixed reviews from people who've seen it, but can't wait!

bebeinamanger · 07/12/2010 13:00

It's colder than it was yesterday! -7 still at 11.45 when I got back from music group with DD!

Added a few more pics onto my festive profile including some of the pretty frosty foliage! Xmas Smile

Trimmer - I need some determination too, I am in danger of slipping back into old habits!

Blondes - bless your mb for helping you! Hope things are better today!

Pretty - how are things North of the border? News says not good! Xmas Confused

GettinTrimmer · 07/12/2010 13:40

Blondes - Hope you're not stuck anywhere today.

Your dd is gorgeous Bebe, make me nostalgic for when mine was only 2. Those days were lovely, before they heard rude words in the playground....

Ds says his teacher has something to say to me for parents' evening tomorrow, he said something rude in class and lost the whole of one break and half of another break, wouldn't tell me what he said. It would be something he has no idea about the meaning of I suspect Sad one of my mum friends says her ds knows the c word but understands not to say it keeping my fingers crossed it's not too bad.

I think you are doing really well on the diet front Bebe, a big congrats from me again for getting to goal Xmas Smile. I think limit damage until the new year for me then start with renewed vigour with exercise and healthy eating.

I was thinking of you too pretty just seen on the news Xmas Shock hope no-one got stuck.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/12/2010 14:42

kent is slowly thawing - not quick enough for me lol

sure mb/db do appreicate me

needed to be pushed out from car park earlier, but luckily 3 sexy bt men about lol

keep up the good work avoiding mice pies

bebeinamanger · 07/12/2010 14:50

I always try and avoid mice pies! Xmas Grin Xmas Wink

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 07/12/2010 15:18

snorts at the mice pies

Maybe this is better - a mouse with pies?!

prettybirdinapeartree · 07/12/2010 15:38

Ds has been off school today and we have just found out that police advice is that Glasgow should keep its school shut tomorrow. We were called yesterday at 1.15 and told that the school was closing. The snow started just as he was walking to school and just got heavier and heavier.

my dad left for Glasgow Airport before 10am, to get my aunt there for 11am: it's normally a half hour drive at most. He got there at 4pm Shock

Fortunately I was calling him regulalrly with updates: first of all that the airport was shut and that the flight in was not going to be landing anyway and then with updates about when the flight was due to go out again (I knew more about it than Emirates as when I rang them, they said that flight was due in at 12.45 and I told them that the airport itself had announced at 10am that it was shut until at least 2pm), so my aunt was able to enjoy it as an adventure that she will down out on for years to come rather than worrying about missing her flight. As it was, she was desparate for the loo by the time they got to the airpot, having been in the car for 6 hours (my dad had coped 'ocs he is a man.......WinkWink)

My aunt's flight eventually left at 12.30 today: the incoming plane initially landed at Prestwick, which was itself then snowed in and then the air crew was timed out, so they had to send a new crew down from Glasgow, which meant going down the M77, which was shut.......Hmm And then there was freezing fog at Glasgow......

Dh has taken some photos from the walk we went to on today but it all looks very benign in the sun and blue sky.

RatherBeOnTheMulledWine · 07/12/2010 16:06

Poor Pretty - you are all having a bad time of it in Glasgow, and generally Up North. It is just very very cold here, not managing to climbing into positive figures.

prettybirdinapeartree · 07/12/2010 16:10

Slide show of the snow in my neghbourhood. The first picture was taken from the loft yesterday - the rest all look rather beautiful in the sun. Normally Nithsdale Road, for example, would be clear even with heavy snowfalls, just due to volume of traffic - but even it has a thick layer of snow and ice. Our own street is flat and wide and relatively quiet, so it doesn't need to be gritted as cars can cope on it. It did however take 3 adults over 3 hours yesterday to clear the driveyway (which is on a slope) so that we could, if we needed to, get our cars out.
