well done conquita! great that you are feeling so much fitterand the compliments are rolling in!

just completed day5 of lev 1, am still feeling lethargic and struggling to get to sleep before 1am. was letting myself stay up late over xmas and now in in a bad habit. maybe a relaxing bath with lavender etc tonight. I find myself yawning during routines!

DD (2.4) was doing bits with me which was encouraging and made me smile thru the sweat...

VJay · 14/01/2011 12:07

Well done conquita Smile

Day 17 done, with ds2 sitting on my tummy while I was doing crunches, I wonder if that helps Hmm

HereMeRoar · 14/01/2011 22:07

Congratulations Conquita Smile.

This week has been hell here and I'm on my third day of shred skiving Blush. In my defence the dvd player is broken, so I can only read the recommendations at the moment Angry. Dh is sworn to fix it tomorrow... otherwise I'll be doing it from memory Hmm.

Hi Folks can I ask a quick question, although after a nearly 1000 posts it may have been asked before.

I am quite fit (well I was before Christmas when I became ill and I am still recovering)

Do I have to do level 1 for a while then level 2 for a bit and then level 3 or can I do level 1 one day and level 3 another and level 2 another so that I have variety otherwise boredom will set in. This is what I have done over the last 3 days and while I find it tough I find it mangageably tough IFSWIM!
I must admit a did feel like my insides where going to drop through by vagina while I was doing the jumping jacks today though!

painfullyhonest · 14/01/2011 22:56

thanks for the lovely mental image upahill Grin

I think you are supposed to do 10 days of lev 1, then 10 days of 2 then 10 days of 3. People seem to only start mixing it up as you are once they have completed a "normal" cycle of the 30 day shred as I describe it.

BUT I bet it's really good for your body to do something different each day! so if you are enjoying it, keep on keepin on! I am hoping to get thru it sequentially then keep doing each of the levels from time to time as a maintenance programme, but that could get tedious...

Menagerie · 15/01/2011 20:02

I went back to level 1 yesterday out of boredom and was surprised to find it really easy. Then back to 2 today and the planks weren't so horrendous as they had been. Mixing it up is a great idea. It's all good fitness.

painfullyhonest · 16/01/2011 16:25

good to hear you were gliding thru lev 1 menagerie. I did day 6 lev 1 with DH yesterday, and found it much easier going, tho push ups continue to be hideous. DH normally runs and does sit ups at the weekend, he seems to be in a bit of pain today! and I was able to answer confidently that I wasn't stiff after yesterday's shred!

So exciting to feel fitter but.... I can't stop eating! scrambled egg with sausage and beans for brekkie, ham cheese and tomato toastie followed by cake and tea, and I've just had a biccie! Was fairly good about having tons of soup all thru last week tho.

Having day off from shred today but back at it tmw.

Am looking at the Burn Fat and Boost metabolism dvd too, will maybe get it to "take me to the next level" WHEN I get thru the shred....

HereMeRoar · 16/01/2011 17:12

The DVD player's still knackered, so now have to shred in front of the laptop. After 3 days off, yesterday I did level 1 and then this afternoon level 2. Both were easier than before my little break period of slacking off Grin.

I am calling today day 15 level 2 (to make up for the 4, or was it 5 Blush days in total I've skipped now).

Menagerie · 16/01/2011 17:29

Two in one day HereMe - that's impressive.

I need to diet too. Not losing any weight on shred and am fed up of being hefty. Was very good yesterday but had people for lunch today and made a huge sticky toffee and ginger pudding with custard after a roast dinner. But at least I shredded and went for a walk up the hill afterwards...

conquita · 16/01/2011 22:34

Well today was supposed to be the start of going back to Level 1, which I will do this week for 5 days, and the level 2 etc. However I did not sleep last night and ending up sleeping in.

I weighed myself properly at work just now on digital scales. I am 76kg. I am feeling quite despondant about the whole thing. I know I will get up tomorrow and start the shred again, but I really hoped to of at least dropped 2 or even 3 kilos over the last 30 days. My scales at home are a bit dodgy so I did not really take the weight seriously at first.

I think it is the time of the month ahead hence me feeling a bit down today.

MistyB · 16/01/2011 23:00

conquita Don't despair, you are fitter and that is a huge positive for your heart and your health. You have stuck with it and won't give up yet. Christmas is normally at least 2kg on for me so that's 2kg you have not gained - not the best but if you look better and feel better, that really is a good thing. Chin up and keep shredding.

conquita · 16/01/2011 23:18

Thanks Misty, I appreciate that. Will start again tomorrow and get back on track.

sb6699 · 16/01/2011 23:32

I've just ordered this - and now I'm SCARED!!!

I'm not particularly overweight but I'm flabby and really unfit - think I might have wasted my money, not at all sure I'm going to be able to do it as it sounds so intense.

However, I will persevere. My delivery date is 22nd Jan so I may pop back in you ladies then for inspiration.

LostGirl · 17/01/2011 07:44

Conquita please don't feel disheartened what you have achieved is fantastic. I think people doing the shred should look at themselves in the mirror when they've completed the 30 days and then write down how they think they look, how they feel etc before weighing/measuring themselves. I think we are all so fixated on numbers that if the tape measure/scales does not reflect how we feel then we seem to just go by the numbers and forget how great we felt about ourselves before we'd measured.

Just ignore your weight from the scales at work, unless you weighed yourself on those same scales before you started then you have nothing to compare that number with. Different scales will give you totally different results, in fact put your scales in different rooms of your house and you'll probably get a totally different weight in each room! Our weight fluctuates daily for lots of different reasons and when we exercise, especially when first starting out, our muscles retain a lot of extra water to help them recover and repair and this can obviously add pounds. The fact that you have not really lost weight but have lost 'inches' means that the changes in your body are down to fat loss which is great, it means you haven't lost any muscle mass and your metabolism will not have slowed down. Most importantly though you have committed to something and you have made exercise a part of your lifestyle and that in itself is a huge achievement. When you are feeling like you haven't achieved much read back where you have written, 'I look leaner and toned. I look healthier in my face and people tell me I look great and vibrant.' You are fabulous, don't forget that Smile

sb6699 You will be fine. Just remember that most of us couldn't do it all the way through the first time, we all had to stop and have a little rest in the middle of sets, or lie on the floor in a heap when we should have been in the plank position, you have a rest, catch your breath and get back into it and know that next time round it will be that little bit easier. Remember that it should be challenging and that means you will see changes.

painfullyhonest · 17/01/2011 14:58

just did day 7 of lev 1. Feeling good but hungry!

is anyone on this thread TTC? I'd really like to continue shredding and am wondering if it will be ok to continue if I do get PG - I'll know in about 10 days/2 wks. As I started shredding before and I'm "comfortable" doing it? lots of people swim/run/cyle/get heart rate up throughout pg and Id like to continue exercising if at all possible.
If not a good idea, what work out do you recommend during pregnancy? I started last PG at about 70kg, am about 75 kg now. really don't want to gain another 5 kg bfing like last time!

conquita · 19/01/2011 22:40

Thanks LostGirl GrinI believe you should be voted the Big/Slim agony aunt, because you always speak sense.

Do you know what though, I am back on track, I went back to Level 1 two days ago, and could NOT believe the difference in my fitness level. I was bouncing around and jumping those jacks like they had never been jumped before.

So the big message here is, after 30 days shredding, although the weighing and measuring may not show spectacular results for me anyway], something is happening to your body regardless, and it is amazing. I beg all ladies who complete level 3 to go back to level 1 please, even if it is for just 1 session, just so you can shock yourself with how much better your body feels compared to when you first started out.

Gogopops · 05/02/2011 14:08

Am I mad? I have just started 30 days shred (on day 2 and aching like mad) and also the Dukon Diet (day 3 and not felt hungry or tempted to snack on cream eggs).

I'm 11st 5lb and hoping to lose a stone within a few weeks so will report on progress.

LostGirl · 05/02/2011 14:26
