Done it three times now (every other day Blush- but I do other aerobic classes as well) - using 3kg weights. I can really feel the difference and can, more or less, manage the press ups (easy version) - feeling very pleased with myself. Smile

notyummy · 22/11/2010 09:33

Well done Ragwort - and great loss Micky!

Emjxxx · 22/11/2010 10:12

I've ordered yesterday, I can't wait for it to come! also very scared, it sounds painful! Hope it's worth it Grin

Pinkytinky · 22/11/2010 11:47

Well done Ragwort.

I've just done day 3. Feeling better although not noticed any difference in inches / weight yet! Hey ho it's early days.

Anyone else hate jumping jacks?

Joby1970 · 22/11/2010 12:09

Jumping jacks are the easiest thing on it - now v raises - thats another matter!

OP posts:
Ragwort · 22/11/2010 12:11

Pinkytinky - I hated the jumping jacks at first but I PROMISE - it does get easier - try rotating round the room as you do them, ie: face different walls - do 10 jacks - turn round. Seems to make it go a bit quicker !

When I am doing the Shred (7am) I have a vision of hundreds of Mumsnetters around the country all doing it together in their sitting rooms like some great virtual aerobathon Grin

Joby1970 · 22/11/2010 12:15

Ragwort - if they all make as much niose as me doing the Shred then I think we could measure it on the Richter scale !!

OP posts:
prettybird · 22/11/2010 12:26

Why is it that making a noise seems to help get through them? HmmBlush

I too hate the V-raises - they are the worst exercise in the whole DVD. The plank jacks and the Plank squats (whatever they are called: in Circuit 1, Level 2) are also not much fun.

redderthanred · 22/11/2010 12:43

its arrived.
Ive just watched it.
It doesnt look that bad.....

only watched level one as i didnt want to scare myself.

I plan on doing it at about 4 ish.

I excpect to be eating my words.

Joby1970 · 22/11/2010 13:29

redder than red: it "looks" easy lol - it is surprisingly taxing. Even 2nd time round - but that's what I love about it.

Good idea not to look at the other levels b4 you do level one - don't want to spoil the surprise he he

OP posts:
redderthanred · 22/11/2010 13:36

lol.

So, what does everyone think is the best time of day to do it?

Basically ive got 3 options.

  1. get up at 6am and do it like 5mins after waking up.

  2. do it at about 4:30pm after just getting home from work, having walked the dog, and just before i sort out tea. DD will able be about and likely to pester me.

  3. at about 8pm. When i find it hard to be motivated to do anything.

YunoYurbubson · 22/11/2010 14:06

Today I did it with the tv muted and radio 4 on instead. Much more bearable.

Am doing much deeper squats and arse starting to feel it.

It's not that bad though. It's just exercise. I shall eat my words with good grace when I move up to level 2.

MickyLee · 22/11/2010 14:27

redder If i were you I would go for the 4.30 because I could not do it 5 minutes after waking up. Good Luck.

The first time, and second and third tbh, i felt like i was going to faint! but just finished the 4th day and felt a bit fitter.

Last night though i felt like i had growing pains in my legs. I couldn't even sit without them aching. DH had to massage them, had hot and cold shower blasts on them but were still really uncomfortable. How do sports people manage if this is the effect of a fitness Dvd.

Ragwort · 22/11/2010 15:01

Personally I would rather do it first thing (gets it over with for the day Grin) - what are V raises, I daren't look at levels 2 and 3 yet?

How many times on average did most of you do level 1 before moving up a level?

Pinkytinky · 22/11/2010 15:04

I've not been brave enough to look at 2 & 3 either. Still with Anita on level 1. Is it that bad? I am scared!

HowsTheSerenity · 22/11/2010 15:08

Just finished day one level one!

I have had 4 months of exercise due to injury and knew I had reverted to fat slob level of fitness. I used to do 2 1hr circuit classes at the gym. 20 mins of shredding and I am shattered!

I will keep going though!

I wonder if we can get her on for a webchat?

Ragwort · 22/11/2010 15:09

That's a good idea HowsTheSerenity - mumsnet must have boosted sales of her DVD hugely ! Although I find her manner incredibly irritating Grin.

HowsTheSerenity · 22/11/2010 15:36

One thing I do like is that she is not sitting here prancing about it makeup and hot pink leggings.
Makes me feel a tad better in my fab bleach stained trackies from m&S

drdolly · 22/11/2010 16:15

i did day one, and it was very tough (i am pretty fit but do tend to shy away from stamina/cardio). However day 2 my legs ached(not in an injury type way) so much that they weren't keen on bending in the middle whilst walking downstairs, and generally i did feel the burn.

Would it be ok to maybe pause DVD while i get used to the speed and intensity? Has anyone else had to take the programme more slowly than suggested? i don't think 5 secs rest will cut it for me. I am pretty shocked as do loads of other exercise but i guess it's good to vary things a little. It is a very good programme undoubtedly, I am just a big old wimp!
TIA

Joby1970 · 22/11/2010 16:28

Drdolly
I ached like buggery the day after level one day one & I thought I was pretty fit too as I had been exercising for 6 months at that point.

I would say its ok to pause the DVD but not for too long - as she says - its to shcok your body into making changes. I used to pause it as I needed a sip of water.

OP posts:
drdolly · 22/11/2010 16:36

ha ha 'ached like buggery!'
thanks for that. i will give it another go tomorrow

redderthanred · 22/11/2010 16:37

just done my first one.
im still alive.

my legs are like jelly though and i cant belive i was pleased to do abs... for a rest!

no pauses or water stops. maybe 10 seconds of marching on the spot on the last cardio section.

im not going to be able to move tomorrow am i.

chocoholic · 22/11/2010 17:05

Get the pain killers ready red!! Grin

Day 6 for me today.

Didn't do it over the weekend (too hungover and full of Pizza Blush). Do you think it will be OK if I just stick to weekdays and do it over 6 weeks or do I need that constant day to day thing?

MickyLee · 22/11/2010 17:16

chocoholic I reckon a break at the weekends would give your body time to recover so can only be good :)

My question is, What are we supposed to do after the 30 days??? I mean if we don't keep up this level of excercise we will turn to jelly!

Great idea to bring in Jillian for a webchat

redderthanred · 22/11/2010 17:26

painkillers??!?!? oh dear.

i think you could go back and start again, with heavier weights maybe????
