Don't feel that way Babyheave, you have lost weight, you probably weighed a bit more than 14st9 at the start, you just don't know exactly what weight.

CJCregg · 09/03/2011 09:34

Hello, can I join in?

Have been on Attack phase for 6 days, just entering Cruise.

I am so paranoid about bad breath. My kids have started saying 'don't kiss me, Mummy'!

Any tips?

By the way, the diet is working really well. I've lost about 7lbs so far, and my energy levels are fantastic.

foreverondiet · 09/03/2011 12:39

CJCregg Brush teeth more? Use mouthwash?

I read somewhere that brushing more often was a good weight loss strategy as food never tastes that good with a toothpasty taste.

divadoll · 09/03/2011 14:25

Well its my birthday today and wont have to try to eat good as its only me cooking LOL. I am out for an Indian at the weekend though so would like ideas of best part of the menu to stick to...obviously less sauces and NO rice...but help?!
Hope to be getting a dog soon and so the increased exercise in a couple of months when he is old enough will mean that keeping this weight loss OFF will be achievable and sooooo hope for the last stone to come off eventually. The dog is actually for my sons birthday this weekend and he has been so good that I am caving to the idea. Confused

foreverondiet · 09/03/2011 14:33

Just made some muffins, going on holiday tomorrow and wanted something good for travelling (on plane).

Cottage cheese and tuna dukan muffins
Makes 8
1/2 cup oatbran
150g (half tub) low fat cottage cheese
2 eggs
one tin well drained tuna (130g)
seasoning

I baked in silicone cases and they came out easily and are yummy. Had 2 with my lunch, and will eat the rest on the journey. Could probably decrease oatbran if you added an extra egg....

foreverondiet · 09/03/2011 14:35

And happy birthday divadoll!

re indian, just stick to meat and vegetables, avoid creamy sauces, they will be very calorific.

OTTMummA · 09/03/2011 15:29

Happy birthday :)

I had a pancake last night Sad
I tried to make the Dukan cookie, didn't taste at all like a cookie, or nice, and caved, had a pancake.
I had a 2hr brisk walk this morning, so i am hoping i will burn it off.
Only 1lb loss today, have had words with myself!

so in 6 days, thats 11lbs down.
Not bad, but could of been better if not for the pancake.

foreverondiet · 09/03/2011 18:45

If you have to have pancake, probably best to use soya flour and not add any sugar... i think problem with cheats on this diet, like other low carb diets is that your body comes out of ketosis. Again if you do have carbs probably best to do 2 protein days afterwards, or instead stick to protein and low carb veggies & not have too much dairy.

I might be wrong.... is this supposed to be a ketogenic diet?

OTTMummA · 09/03/2011 19:59

I've decided to extened my Attack phase until saturday, and then have roast chicken with vegetables on sunday as my PV day.

I think Attack phase is supposed to be Ketogenic, but cruise is not. it can't be because of the vegetables allowed.
Or i could be wrong, someone will come along soon and put me right.

foreverondiet · 09/03/2011 20:06

Not sure as pig to twig is ketogenic but vegetables allowed. The reason I am not sure is that dairy contains lactose.

OTTMummA · 11/03/2011 12:47

Got weighed at the GP's today, i tend to use that scales as the proper weight, well, since friday i have lost 1st 2lbs Shock

I was practically skipping back lol.

Am having mushroom scrambled eggs tomorrow for breakfast and stuffed tomatoes with chilli steak for dinner.

How is everyone else?

divadoll · 11/03/2011 14:45

Stagnant for the week again Sad

greenfig · 11/03/2011 16:32

OTTMumma That is AMAZING! V well done that's such a good motivator for you. Good luck with the rest of your weight loss, you must be feeling so pleased with yourselfGrin

cairns · 11/03/2011 19:14

Well done OTTMumma a fab result for you, you are on your way now.

diva dont be disheartened I used to plateau lots and it is very demoralising, keep at it, drink more water and up the activity worked for me, I then used to suddenly drop.

Btw I tried forevers tuna/cottage cheese muffins this week on my pp day, really easy and lovely hot or cold. I did use about 1/3 less oatbran though and added extra egg.

Consol going ok here, being a bit naughty at times but I have upped the exercise which is preventing gaining.

Have good weekends everyone

OTTMummA · 11/03/2011 19:37

Thankyou, i am well chuffed! If i say so Blush

My GP was rather happy aswell, he has tried for years to get me to lose weight, ive had pills, lessons, free gym pass etc, but nothing has worked aswell as this diet.

GP reminded me that future weight loss may slow down, but to come to him if i get down about it and see what else he can do to help.

I can already see how i will be living this way forever now.
I don't miss pasta, bread, rice at all, and am getting used to being more adventerous with meat/fish.
It feels good, and am glad i stuck at it.

Diva, in the book dukan says that plateaus mean the diet is working, it is just your body resisting.
Try to find something extra you can do for a while, either more water, less salt, another 20 min walk to change up the tempo and trick you body again.

I will keep posting, good luck :)

OTTMummA · 11/03/2011 19:38

as well*

divadoll · 14/03/2011 07:54

Well because it was my birthday I went for the Indian and blew the diet right out the water. I had a biryani and that comes with rice, although I could only eat all the meat and half the rice as I had a naan too Shock but...I didnt gain!
I am happy that I can eat the odd bad day if I dont gain and it gives me the willpower to keep on for the next week. It was also TOTM last week and so I may have plateaued for that too, so am making the conscious effort to drink a hell of a lot more water each day and put a bit more effort into the exercising every day too. I do classes at the gym every weekday, so extra time is not an option although effort is, so I will up my weights in pump and jump a little higher in the others...

foreverondiet · 16/03/2011 13:21

Hi All!

Well back from short holiday today pleased to report that I maintained my weight from the day I left (9 stone 6 pounds) which is my dukan true weight, and one pound above my original target of loosing 3 whole stone.

I was quite careful on holiday but did have lapses, and did eat out each evening, although went for things like grilled chicken salad when we went out to eat. I didn't do any PP days while I away but didn't follow the consolidation rules either - and probably ate far too much yoghurt, but its the easiest thing to eat out an about. Doing a PP day today (with minimal dairy!), and will start the consolidation phase next week assuming weight still stable (and really want to loose that last pound...).

Although I don't want to loose more weight I still want to reduce body fat %, currently 25% (was 40% at start (I have tanita scales). Will try and do more weights in the gym....

divadoll ok to eat out occasionally and good you didn't gain. I think that dukan impossible in indian/chinese restuarant. I have generally opted for grill type restuarants since I have been on the diet but if I was eating out would always make it a protein and vegetable day. In terms of plateau, I think best thing to try something different, (I came to dukan after plateau on low calorie low GI diet)... maybe more exercise (are you doing 30 day shred?) or trying something different diet wise, eg a few days of no dairy or something like that)

Interestingly I find that I eat FAR less calories on a protein and vegetable day as I fill up on salad etc

OTTMummA you are doing great, well done. Must be so good to have such a fab start to the diet.

divadoll · 16/03/2011 14:33

foreveronadiet I already do Body conditioning Monday, Pump Tuesday, Core Wednesday, Pump Thursday and legs bums and tums on Friday....I cant go on a sat/sun but DO need some time at home to do the housework! I cannot physically do any more than an hour class every week day so it is not my exercise that can be changed up a bit.

foreverondiet · 16/03/2011 19:19

divadoll - you can do something different without it taking more time. eg ditch the classes for a couple of weeks and push yourself on some interval training. Your body gets used to what your were doing and hence good to change it around a bit.

IMO classes like legs bums and tums are for people who aren't really that fit. Try something like circuit training if you want to do a class.

Nerodavola · 17/03/2011 00:41

Hello fellow Dukaneers!

I've been on DD for about 4 weeks. The first 2 weeks I didn't weigh myself, but I think I lost about 3k. The last 2 weeks (weighing every other day after a PP) I've gone down, stayed the same and gone up....altogether up by about a kilo and down by 1.5k.

This seems to fit with what people have been saying - it's a weird diet which lurches up and down in a ratio of 2:3...

Anyway, I've joined up because this is the longest and most encouraging message board I've come across on this topic and I've been reading it over the last week or so (it is VERY long...)but, although I am a Mum, I'm not a young one. So my question is - are there any other oldies out there? And is it the case that about a pound a week loss is all I may hope for, or have I got to be extra vigilant and no cheating?
PS I did lose 3lb in 2 days after I had cheated a little bit Confused

I do have a couple of nice ideas for recipes which I'll post when I've worked out how to do links.
Thanks to all you posters!

I notice it's now Paddy's day, so maybe a nice Guinness? Slainte!

divadoll · 17/03/2011 07:37

Well I am 45 so hardly come into the younger bracket any more Smile I like this thread for exactly the same reason. I dont have much to lose and find that the fact that a lot of those on here are at or near target is very encouraging. Its the consolidation part of any diet that is the problem and it seems to be conquered on here!

foreveronadiet you should try our legs bums and tums it is not for the faint hearted. I cannot do high impact though cos I have stenosis of the lower spine and so combat and attack are out. I have done combat recently and it aggravated my problem, but am thinking of doing a few spin classes...

BTW dropped 68.8 to 68.0 this morninging Grin

foreverondiet · 17/03/2011 09:52

divadoll spin is good, as it involves interval training. The point was more to vary the exercise because your body gets used to something... but anyway sounds like you dropped.

I was 9 3.5lbs this morning Shock - lowest previous was 9 5.5lbs so not sure why suddenly another 2lbs off... I guess that means I have reached target and should start the consolidation phase.

cairns · 17/03/2011 12:04

Woohoo well done forever on hitting target, what an achievement how much did you lose in total? The key in consol I think is not to worry about gaining it back, odd I know but I was not following it properly as was scared to reintroduce carbs and I lost more!

Welcome nero 1lb a week is fine, I think it depends how diet resistant your body is, I also think it takes a while to get going so you may find it speeds up every now and then, cheating does impact it I am afraid as that is when I stalled. Good luck!

Pp today for me on consol, and I am currently tucking into one of forevers tuna muffins yum!

foreverondiet · 17/03/2011 13:29

cairns weight loss target was 9 5, so 42lbs or 3 stone. Although only did dukan for last stone, and even then didn't really do too many PP days, generally did PP breakfast and lunch and some low carb steamed veggies (eg mushrooms/broccoli) with meat for dinner. If I "cheated" was only an apple or 5g of 85% chocolate!

Was 9 3.5 this morning so 43.5lbs! Am too scared to eat any carbs!

Am glad you all like my muffins!
